Klaus is only dating Hayley to try get over Caroline, and when they all have a group meeting to track down the next big bad, Caroline falls asleep on Elijah and Klaus gets jealous. Elijah has secret feelings for her.

Caroline felt her jaw tick as she watched Klaus walk down the street with Hayley's arm looped with his.
No. No, Caroline. You are not jealous. Not at all.
Hayley let out a tinkering laugh and Klaus sent her a saccharine grin before placing a small kiss on the top of her head.
Not. Jealous. Not. One. Bit.
Caroline's attention finally shifted to Bonnie when she saw clicking fingers in front of her eyes.
"What now?" Caroline sighed, resting her cheek on her palm.
"We're meant to head to the boarding house. Remember. Sort out the plan for the new big bad in town." Bonnie reminded her friend, smiling when Caroline let out a scoff and rolled her eyes.
"Let's go then before someone blows a gasket." Caroline drawled, lifting herself from her seat and making her way to Bonnie's car. Bonnie drove them to the boarding house where everyone had already made themselves at home.
The feud between the originals and the Mystic Falls crew had long since fizzled so she wasn't surprised to see all the Mikaelson siblings sitting there. Caroline moved forward and plopped herself next to Elijah, sending him a lazy smile and sitting back.
"How are you Miss Forbes?" Elijah asked softly, looking at the blonde adoringly.
"Tired." Caroline sighed, "I really just want a nap right now." She said honestly, not shy about speaking freely to the eldest Mikaelson brother.
"Okay! Enough chatter!" Damon yelled, getting everyone's attention.
"Let's get down to business." Kol agreed, itching to get out of the boarding house, still not fond of the Salvatore brothers and the doppelganger.
The next few hours went by with strategizing and a healthy amount of threats. Elijah smiled fondly at the blonde who kept yawning and whose eyes kept drifting shut every now and then. He threw his arm over her shoulders and pulled her into him, letting her snuggle closely.
"Elijah, what?" She mumbled sleepily, still snuggling further into his warmth.
"Nap," he whispered, brushing back the hair that fell in her face, "I'll let you know what's happened when you wake up." He promised.
"Okie dokie." Caroline agreed, not one to pass up on a nap. Klaus watched from across the room as his Caroline curled up to his elder brother who was smiling fondly at the blonde before looking up and listening to Stefan who was talking through his plan.
He looked over to Hayley who sent him a tentative smile, one that he forced himself to return. He admitted to himself that he was using her as a means to get over Caroline. It wasn't his fault that she happened to be her worst enemy, at the end of the day, Hayley was willing to be used.
Another hour went by before Bonnie officially called the meeting to a close, claiming everyone needed a good night's sleep so the plans that they were coming up with weren't so shit.
Elijah gently shook Caroline who grunted in disapproval and buried her head further into his chest, refusing to give up her nap.
"The meeting's ended Miss Forbes." Elijah said quietly, chuckling lightly when she squinted her eyes open at him and sighing, dropping her forehead onto his chest.
"I don't want to wake up," she pouted.
"How do you expect me to ask you on a date if you are asleep?" Elijah teased. And like that Caroline was up like a shot, looking at him with wide-eyes.
"Are you serious?" Caroline asked.
"Miss Forbes, would you like to join me for lunch tomorrow?" Elijah asked, pushing the strand of hair that fell into her face behind her ear.
"Yeah." Caroline nodded.
"Care? I'm still giving you a lift right?" Matt asked, coming back into the room and looking at the blushing blonde who stood abruptly and scurried over to him.
"Yup, let's go." Caroline squeaked, blushing before looking back to Elijah who was smirking at her, "bye Elijah." And like a flustered teenage girl she was off and into Matt's truck.
"Right." Matt drawled, before turning and walking to the truck and driving Caroline home.
Elijah's eyes snapped over to where Klaus was stood by the fire place, slowly clapping.
"Well done brother, it seems that you just can't seem to stay away from the women I love." Klaus drawled, his eyes glowing yellow.
"I believe I started my relationship with Tatia first, and it was you that fell for her." Elijah corrected, standing up and buttoning his suit jacket.
"I will not let you play me for a fool and steal Caroline from me!" Klaus yelled, moving closer to Elijah.
"I cannot steal, brother. What was never yours." Elijah said, pushing Klaus back and walking off.
"This is not over!" Klaus yelled, watching as Elijah turned to look at him, fixing his cufflinks.
"Actually brother. I believe it is. Good night." Elijah dismissed before walking out of the boarding house, leaving Klaus to stew in his anger and regret.
