Okay, I may have to pause again for a bit, but it shouldn't be for very long. I am involved in FOUR shows right now, but on egos ending very soon, so I will start writing again when my workload lets up.

Maka flew on Soul, since he was a death scythe now. BlackStar made Tsubaki into this spring thing and half-bounced half flew away. Alex and Kyle turned to weapon form and attached to me arm with two black bracelets, which within seconds grew two small wings. We had been practicing since they had gotten their powers, but admittedly we would be hard pressed to keep up with the others. Kid jumped back on Beexzlebub and we were off across the desert, zooming above the sea of sand below us. It would have been pretty if the situation was different and we barely noticed.

We crossed a pocket of trees and we flew lower slowing down to prepare for battle. We were expecting a small group of witches, but when we came out into the clearing- there was nothing. We landed quietly and formed a line facing away from the forest, ready for them.

Suddenly I felt a jolt of power, and we all spun around. Witches were coming out of the rocks around us and out of the forest. It was an ambush! And there were a lot more then 5 witches. There were 100 or more, some running, some riding animals, and some flying. We all froze in shock. Then they were on top of us.

I slashed at them, trying to keep in sight of the others, but we were being pushed away from each other. A giant eagle swooped down toward me, and I lost all thought but to kill. I crouched and jumped up just as the eagle snapped its beak where my head had been. I landed on it's back, and I decapitated the witch riding it before stabbing the eagle through the hole behind the skull. It screeched and exploded into dust, and then I was back in the fray. Everything became a roar as the blood-lust screamed at me to kill them all, and I followed it willingly. Cutting, slashing and stabbing, I made my way through the witches. But even though I bodies were starting to pile up, more and more kept coming.

Then the unthinkable happened. I stabbed a witch in the back, but when I tried to spin away, the blades wouldn't move. Then the witch started to dissolve into acid. I heard Alex and Kyle scream and I went crazy, kicking and biting and scratching and pulling with all my strength until I was able to finally pull them out with a sound like a giant suction cup. The witch grinned at me as the life left her eyes. Kyle and Alex transformed, both badly burned, some of their skin burned completely away.

My adrenaline spiked and somehow I picked them both up and ran through the witches, ducking and jumping over out reached arms and claws. Finally I found the rock we had started at, and I clambered up it and set my partners down.

From up here I could see the whole battle. It wasn't going well. Even from far away I could see that BlackStar was favoring his left leg, and Maka had an awful cut across her forehead. Kid was flying above and shooting while avoiding other witches, but I could see where something had hit him in the right arm, it had turned yellow and was dripping pus. And yet we had probably killed only 30 witches total, and I knew we wouldn't be able to win like this. I looked down at me partners. Kyle was moaning, and Alex had almost stopped breathing. If I didn't do something now, they could- no, they would die.

Time seemed to slow. I knew what I had to do, and damn the consequences. I reached inside my body and cut the bounds inside my soul.

The battlefield froze. The witches turned towards me. I knew I looked like a burning torch, and some even shielded their eyes.

I screamed and dove into the witches, burning them with a touch. Fire flew around me in a whirlwind and I laughed aloud in relief as the hoards of witches streamed towards me, leaving my completely bewildered friends behind.

Amphibians, insects, mammals and reptiles attacked me from all side. A few made it through the tornado before they were completely burned to crips, and I felt a sting as some insect crawled under my shirt. I sent a fireball behind me, and I heard a witch screech and the stinging disappeared.

I flew father away, leading them toward the forest.

As soon as we were a few hundred meters from my friends, I went on the offensive. Smoke flowed from my fingers, clogging the air and creeping down the throats of the witches. I heard violent coughs and I smiled grimly. There would be no survivors.

A hand flew through my smoke, and I grabbed it and pulled it toward me. She was second in command and the leader of the rebellion, and I snarled at her. "You!" she squeaked out before I grabbed her neck. She screamed and writhed as my fingers, heated to approximately 500 degrees Celsius, burned her boys from the inside out. Her ashes drifted down toward the earth, and each witch felt her soul's power go out.

I heard gasps and screams, and the rebellion fell apart. The witches started flying about crazily, some running into each other so hard they stunned each other and fell far below to the earth where their necks and skulls snapped, the sound echoing up to me. I took most of my remaining power and concentrated it into a balls, pushing it closer and closer together until it felt like it would explode. Which was exactly my plan. I counted to three and let go.

The following blast of heat, smoke, and blue-white flames burned the flesh right off the remaining twenty or so witches, their bones burned black and brittle as they fell to join the other bodies. I floated down toward the earth, grimly looking down at them. "Don't mess with my friends." I said menacingly into the silence.

I already knew the gravity of my situation. By now my friends would realize that I was missing, and that something had drawn off all the witches, something with a powerful soul. They would put two and two together, and they would start to- shit.

I could see them at the edge of the forest. They were already after me. I spun in the air and raced as fast as my quickly waning power would allow in the opposite direction.

"Shit shit shit shit shit." I muttered to myself. My mind was racing in circles. I needed a distraction, something to get them off my tail without hurting them. I had used most of my power with that last huge attack, so I only had about a minute of flight-time left. The only thing I could think of was really dangerous, and it might not even work... but I had to do this now with the power I had left, or not do it at all.

I created a double of myself, covered in fire, and sent it ahead of me, and because this made me lose my remaining power, I fell down to earth. As I fell I saw my double rocket away, but... they didn't follow it. "Shit-" I mumbled right before I hit the ground and blacked out.
