"I think, I've waited long enough" Jack grabbed her arm to make her torn and look at him "I think I deserve some answer, Melody Pond" he said her name slowly.
Chapter Eight "Melody Pond"
"You are right, but not here"
She took his hand and they disappeared in a flash o white light; it was dark when they materialize and took a moment before Jack could see where they were, his eyes adjusted to the lack of light and he froze looking around himself, no it just couldn't be.
"Are we in…"
"Yeah, we are"
As he expected just outside the doors was the street, even after all those years, the light on the porch was still broken, pushing the memories away Jack went back inside and sat on the sofa.
"I'm waiting"
River sat next to him and took a deep breath before she could talk "I was traveling with mum and dad when we end up in the Gamma Forest, have you been there?. No? ok, they wanted our names and called us by the equivalents in their world, dad was the Healer, mum was the Loup, and me—"
"Melody Pond" Jack interrupted.
River noded "'The only song in the forest is the Melody of the birds and the wind through the trees'. That is what they said 'The rain falls forming a pond, the only water in the forest'. When you called me that in the Valliant, I was confused because this" she moved her hand indicating the house they were in "Hadn't happened to me yet"
Jack just nodded but kept his eyes fixed on the wall in front of them. River just sight, she wanted to touch him, she wanted to kiss him and make him trust her again, but she wasn't sure how, so she just kept talking. She had to at least be glad by the opportunity to explain.
"After the Valiant I went to the HQ, and mum give me the last page of the blue book. The coordinates, time and place to find you after you landed on earth. You were dead when I found you and brought you here"
Jack nodded, oh he remembered, the second time he heard that howling calling him back. He woke up on a strange bed, she could heard the rain outside and felt a warm flannel cleaning his face.
"Welcome back blue eyes"
They leaved together for months, they knew bits and pieces of each other life, "Melody" worked on a shop and he was a barman.
And they were together, for two years there was none to him but her.
Until that day when a fight in the bar he worked end up with him killed by a broken bottle, but the time he went back she wasn't there and her perfume in the room the only proof of her existence.
"Why you leave?"
"Time was catching up with me, and I had to let you go"
"You could have told, said something. I came back and you weren't there, I was terrified!" he jumped pacing in the room "I started to think I was crazy and you never existed!"
"Had I been here you'd stayed, but you needed to go"
"Why?"
"Torchwood, they needed to find you. So you'll interfere with them had you net been there" she took a moment before she continued "They would had got to my dad. He would had been captured and locked up—"
"He could escape later"
River shock her head "He needed to be back on Gallifrey that day, he needed to fight"
Had the Doctor not fought in the Time War, he wouldn't had end it, he wouldn't had met Rose, and she wouldn't had open the TARDIS.
"What about us?. Was that a lie?. Was I just a mission?" he grabbed her by the shoulders "Answer me!"
"I was suppose to just ease you back to life in this time and leave. But I couldn't. In the same way dad can't be near you sometimes—I can't be away"
"What?" oh he could make a joke about how he was too sexy, about how after testing him, she couldn't be away. But he was too busy being worry and felling betrayed to do that.
"Is in my blood and it just calls for you"
She grabbed his head and standing on her tiptoes she kissed him, nibbling and liking in the same way she did so long ago when she grab him outside the shower.
Before Jack had time to think, they were on the bed, pulling their clothes out.
River kissed him and don't let go until they materialize back on their current time, in front of the Millennium Center.
"Until we meet again blue eyes" she smiled cheekily and banish.
It would take years before they find each other again, on a bar on a space station.

This is the end of the story, next week we'll have the epilogue, with what happened to Rose and the others and what was that thing that would happen in two years time, to make the Doctor and Rose settle down and get the Head Quarters.
