Wally, being the idiot that he was, decide not to tell Artemis that their son had superspeed.

"She's going to kill you when she finds out you've known about it and didn't tell her." Roy told him, shaking his head as they watched Jai & Lian play in Roy & Jade's backyard.

"Look, I just need to teach Jai how to control it, s'all." Wally said.

"Wally, he's supposed to start kindergarten in four days. There's no way you're going to succeed in teaching him how to hide it in time. If this were six months ago, maybe. But right now? No way. I say you find a League member that's good with kids and ask them to homeschool him this year." Roy suggested.

"Artemis would kill me if I made a decision like that without discussing it with her first." Wally groaned.

"She's gonna kill you either way."

When Jai and the girls were still asleep, Wally and Artemis got up to start breakfast and to wake themselves up.

Wally poured himself a cup of coffee, sat at the kitchen table, drank about a third of it before finally speaking.

"Jaiyden's going to have to be homeschooled this year." He sighed.

"Excuse me? Why? Why do you want to prevent our son- our only son, by the way- from making friends with kids his age whose parents are not members of the League or Team?" She demanded.

"He's a speedster." Wally told her.

"What?"

"He's going to be like me, Barry, Bart, and Jay. If you don't believe me, I'll show you the tape of him knocking over Ollie, Aquaman, and Shayera next time we're at the Watch Tower." Wally sighed.

Artemis just gawked at him.

"He doesn't have enough time between now and school starting to get it into his head that he can't expose us. Hell! Not only could he expose us- but possibly members of the League as well!" Wally hissed.

"Fine. But you're telling him." Artemis sighed.

"Nooooo! Daaaaad!" Jaiyden cried, stomping his feet harshly onto the rug of his bedroom.

"Jaiyden Micah West, stop throwing a tantrum. Now." Wally sighed, growling softly.

Jai sniffled, his vert eyes filled with dejection as he looked up at his Father.

"Dad, why can't I go to a regular school like Lian and Mark?" He sniffled.

"Remember when you went to the Watch Tower with me and Roy?"

"Yeah."

"Remember when you ran super, super fast and crashed into Shayera, Aquaman, and Ollie?"

"Yeah. Is that why I can't go to school?"

"Afraid so, kid." Wally sighed, sinking to his knees as he put his hand on Jai's shoulder.

"But dad. I've been able to do that for months now, and that was my first slip up! I promise it won't happen again around normies!" Jai cried.

Wally's malachite eyes widened with shock at what his first born and only son had just told him.

"Jaiyden, do not lie to me." Wally said sternly.

"I'm not, though! I've been able to do it for a while now, Dad." Jai said.

"Before or after Irey and Melissa were born?" He asked.

"After they came but before Aunt Zatanna had her babies."

Gia and Mary were eight months old. Irey and Melissa were ten months old. That meant, that for the past nine months, Jaiyden had been keeping one of the biggest secrets he could ever keep from his parents.

At only five years old.

"Jai, why didn't you tell anybody this?" Wally asked.

"I was scared. No one knows- not even Lisa! Except maybe Bart, but he's from the future, so he probably knows everything." Jai said.

"Why were you scared, kid?" Wally asked.

"Because Mom always gets this really sad look in her eyes whenever you put on your costume and go fight the bad guys. I don't want her to have that same look in her eyes whenever I leave the house. Did something bad happen to you?"

Wally sighed, unable to look his own son in the eyes as the memories of the events that happened in the Artic flashed through his mind.

He could see everything.

How he had tried to keep up and was disintegrated in front of his own Mentor's eyes. He remembered being told how disquieted the Team, League, and his family had been during the sixteen days he had been missing, stuck in a tillage of emptiness for what felt like an eternity.

He remembers wrapping his arms around the torso of a sobbing Artemis- the love of his life and the Mother of his, at the time, unborn and uncieved children- as she cried into his shoulder.

He remembers taking her back to their home, the second the League had finished running all of those horrid tests on him, and making love to her for days, resulting in their son.

"Dad? Daddy?" Jai said, tapping his dad on the shoulder.

Wally snapped out of his gaze, and without saying a word, threw his arms around his son, his chin resting on Jai's shoulder.

"Nothing bad is ever going to happen to you, okay Jaiyden?" Wally informed him.

"Okay Dad. I love you."

"I love you, too."

"So how'd it go?" Artemis asked him later that night, as they got ready for bed.

Wally sighed, unsure of how to answer her.

"Wallace Rudolph West. Answer me." She said, in the same stern voice he had used on Jaiyden.

"He's had his powers- and known about them- for a while." He sighed.

"Define a while."

"After Irey and Melissa were born but before Gia and Mary were."

"Oh dear Thiên Chúa. Tại sao không ông nói với chúng tôi điều này trước khi?" Artemis sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she shook her head.

"I don't know, Babe. Maybe he was scared." He shrugged.

"Chúng tôi là cha mẹ của ông, Wally! Ông không phải là sợ hãi! Ông biết ông có thể cho chúng tôi biết bất cứ điều gì!" She cried.

"Artemis, calm down. Everything will be okay. Just relax." Wally responded, kissing her lightly on the forehead, before they climbed into bed.

"We'll discuss it more in the morning. Night beautiful."

"Night. I love you."

"I love you more."

I'm thinking of making Wally & Artemis have another baby sometime during the story.

Yay or Nay?

"Oh dear God. Why didn't he tell us this before?"

"We are his parents, Wally! He shouldn't be scared! He knows he can tell us anything!"
