Rosered gave me two more prompts of Kono staying with Chin and lying to Chin so i've combined them in this chapter.

Chapter 26

Kono lounged on her aunt's couch texting her mates and listening to the drone of the TV in the background. Her parents had gone away for the weekend so she was staying with her aunt and uncle. It was only Kono and Chin at home and he was busy doing paperwork so Kono was bored. Her friends had text and said one of their older cousins was having a party and they could go. Kono knew she would never be allowed to go but she didn't see the harm in lying so she could get out the house. Her school had a late library and she knew Chin would let her go there if she said she was studying. She could tell him she would get her friends mum to drop her home. As she thought through her plan Chin came downstairs.

"What you up to cuz?" Chin asked has he headed to the kitchen.

"Not much, erm Georgia just text she said we have an essay due Monday and she's going to the late library to finish it so I was going to go meet her and get it done" Kono tried.

"Do you really want to be studying that late?"

"Yeah its fine it's quieter"

"What time does the library close?"

"Between twelve and one" Kono pushed knowing it was really eleven.

"Seriously?"

"Yeah it's because people leave so much till the last minute but apparently it's proven to get more work completed by students" Kono bullshitted.

"I can't really drop you there now but I can get you at like eleven"

"It's cool Tara is coming and she will get me on the way and Georgia's mum will drop me home when were done"

"Ermmm"

"Please Chin I have surfing and stuff with you over the weekend I'd rather do it now" Kono begged.

"Alright fine" Chin agreed. "I'll let mum and dad know so they no to wait up for you"

"They don't have to if I'm late"

"They won't sleep until your home"

"Okay thank's cuz"

Kono, Tara and Georgia left Georgia's to go to her cousins party. Georgia's parents knew where the girl were going and left them instructions not to drink any alcohol that would presumably be there. Of course the three girls had other plans. When they arrived they were surrounded by collage guys and girls partying hard and drinking harder. At sixteen the girls had never experienced anything like that of a collage party and were ready to get involved.

"Hey G lemme get you guys drinks!" Georgia's cousin rambled.

She returned and handed each girl a beer and told them to get involved. Kono chugged her beer quickly as did the others and before they knew it they were in the middle of the dance floor with more drinks being thrust into their hands.

Mele and Kam returned home around ten thirty and called Chin down to see what time Kono would be home.

"She's at the library"

"Does she want collecting?" Kam asked.

"No she said a friend's mum would drop her home whenever they were done"

"Well the library will close in half hour" Mele pointed out.

"No she said it's a late library"

"Eleven is late for a school library they have to higher external workers to stay there"

"She said it closed between twelve and one" Chin sighed.

"What!"

"She lied to you"

"I'm going to kill her!" Chin cried in annoyance as he began trying to call her.

"Who has she gone out with?" Mele asked.

"Georgia and Tara"

"We should ring there mum's" Kam suggested.

"I don't have their numbers" Mele pointed out.

"Ring Nani she might"

"I am not ringing my sister yet and telling her that her daughter has played us and snuck out somewhere" Mele stated.

"She could be up to anything and it's late we need to find her soon"

"Has she mentioned anything else Chin?"

"No…but I think I know where Tara lives" Chin sighed "I'll head there and see if she knows where they've gone you stay here in case she returns home" Chin instructed as he left the house.

Chin had gone to Tara's house and her mum had given Chin Georgia's mum's number. Chin called and found out they had gone to a collage party. Chin was furious with Kono and jumped back in the car heading to the address. When he approached he was met with drunken guys fawning over drunker women and blaring music. Chin couldn't care less if he embarrassed Kono he was going to storm in there and drag her arse out of there and back home.

Kono swayed around the room as some guy tried to dance with her in an overly sexy manner, his hands creeping down her arse and his fingers skimming the skin under her dress. Kono knew she was tipsy but not so tipsy that she didn't know that what the guy was doing was wrong. She was trying to play it loose and enjoy herself but his roaming hands were becoming too much.

Chin walked into the house and moved around frantically trying to locate Kono. He found her pushing away some guy who was becoming too close for comfort. Chin didn't think twice and moved towards her, shoving the guy off her and pulling her out of the house and towards the car.

"Chin your embarrassing me" Kono cried as she tried to get out of his grasp.

"Get in the car Kono" Chin snapped angrily making Kono shut up and sit.

When they arrived home, Mele and Kam stood with anger filled faces as they took in the state of their niece. She wore and inappropriately short dress, too much make up and was clearly tipsy.

"Chin get off me!" Kono exclaimed as Chin dragged her through the house.

"Don't you dare?" Kam snapped as Kono stood still in fear. It wasn't often that either of Chin's parents lost their cool, but when Kam did it was scary. "You are lucky that Chin cares enough to come out and save your arse!"

"I was fine" Kono mumbled weakly earning herself a stare that suggested you talk again and I'll make you sleep outside.

"Sit down!" Kam instructed.

Kono begrudgingly plonked herself on the couch and avoided the gaze of her family.

"What you have done tonight Kono is, disrespectful to us, rude, selfish, irresponsible and dangerous. You are sixteen years old; you should not be drinking or hanging out with guys older than you. Anything could have happened" Kam informed harshly.

Kono fiddled with her hands and frowned angrily.

"Get yourself sober then take a shower Kono" Kam snapped as he walked away to his office.

Kono felt tears sting her eyes unsure whether it was from the guilt or embarrassment or even anger.

"How are you feeling?" Mele asked softly.

Kono knew Mele's softer tone was not to be mistaken for understanding, she was defiantly pissed.

Kono shrugged her shoulders and bit her lip.

"Do you think you can manage a shower?"

"Hmmm"

"Get upstairs then"

When Kono was done and dressed in pyjama's she headed towards her room when Chin stopped her.

"Come downstairs cuz" Chin instructed.

Kono followed him quietly; the event's having sobered her up very quickly. She took a seat back on the couch and again tried her best not to look at anyone.

"Ipo, what you did tonight was very irresponsible" Mele began, her tone soft gentle. "Lying to Chin was wrong in itself, but lying about this was silly. If something had happened to you we might not have known and wouldn't be able to help you"

"I thought I would be fine, it just seemed like fun" Kono tried to explain weakly.

"It starts like that Kono but what if something had happened to you" Kam questioned in a harsher tone.

"I don't know" Kono muttered.

"You wouldn't have been able to help yourself because you were drunk" Kam stated.

Kono tried to curl into herself under her uncle's stare. She tried her best to hold back the tears and felt Chins hand rest protectively on her back. Kono peered to him tearfully as he forced her to look at him.

"Cuz when I walked in I found you in some older guy's arms with him trying to take advantage of you, you have no idea how scary that is to see my baby cousin being treated like that. If I hadn't walked in what might have happened?" Chin asked gently.

"I didn't want to do anything with him"

"I know but that doesn't stop guy's cuz"

Kono bit her lip hard but the tears still rolled down her cheeks. Chin thumbed them away gently and pulled her into his arms as she sobbed.

"Kono I need to tell your mum about this darling" Mele said softly.

"No please" Kono begged.

"I won't lie to my sister Kono"

Kono sobbed harder knowing she was in deep trouble with her mum and dad when they returned home.

"Kono I'm sorry for shouting" Kam began. "You know both of Chin's sisters have done something like this and I reacted the same way. I wouldn't want anyone in my family getting hurt" Kam smiled.

"I know…was Chin the only well behaved one then" Kono giggled.

"God know!"

"I'm really sorry" Kono admitted.

"We know why you don't get in bed sweetheart" Mele said.

Kono lay in bed with her eyes wide open. She couldn't sleep knowing the trouble she would be in tomorrow and from sheer embarrassment of facing her aunt and uncle again tomorrow. She got out of bed quietly and tiptoed to Chin's room knocking softly and entering. Chin was half asleep but he could make out Kono standing shyly in the door way.

"Chin…"

Chin smiled in the dark and patted the bed. Kono padded over and hugged Chin tight before lying at the other end of the bed and falling asleep quickly.
