Chapter 25

Location: Wright Anything Agency, California
Apollo and Trucy were sitting on one of the sofas in the Wright Anything Agency, waiting for Emma and Liam to come over. They were talking about the arrest of Machi. Suddenly someone entered the agency. The two young people looked up to see Klavier had walked in. They were in the middle of talking about what was going on when the door opened again. Emma and Liam walked in, both looking exhausted and carrying large cups of coffee. Emma looked up at the three people in the room before speaking.
"Morning. Rocky, what are you doing here?" She asked before yawning and taking a sip of her coffee and sitting down on the sofa. Liam joined her. Klavier smiled.
"Guten Morgan Emma, Liam. Did you two get any sleep at all?" He asked. Emma and Liam looked slightly sheepish before she spoke once more.
"Errrrrm… No?" She asked in a questioning voice. Klavier chuckled and shook his head.
"Anyway, I was here to tell Apollo that Machi has requested him to be his defence attorney." Apollo's head shot up.
"He…? You mean Machi? Machi wants me…?" Emma snorted.
"No he wants the other defence attorney called Apollo who works at the Wright Anything Agency, of course he wants you!" She drank some more of her coffee. "Sorry, I've got a horrible headache. It's been a while since I've been to a concert." She smiled weakly. Apollo returned the smile and looked back at Klavier, who spoke up.
"Good luck, I'm off to question Lamiroir." He quickly winked at Apollo and left. Apollo flushed and looked at the floor.
"R-Right. Later!" Klavier shut the door behind him and Apollo sighed before sitting back on the sofa. Emma drank the rest of her coffee before speaking.
"So, you going to go down to see Machi?" She asked. Apollo nodded.
"Yeah, we better get down there to ask him a few questions." Emma looked at Trucy.
"You going to go with him Truce?" She asked. Trucy nodded and jumped up.
"Of course Auntie Emma! What are you and Uncle Liam going to do?" Emma smiled slightly.
"Well I would say sleep but I said I would help out with the case from a Forensics point of view." Emma frowned slightly. "Plus I can speak Borginian and English so I can translate when needs be." Trucy nodded.
"Okay see you later then Auntie Emma, Uncle Liam. Come on Polly, let's go!" And with that, Apollo and Trucy left the agency. Emma groaned and leaned into Liam. He looked down at her.
"What's the matter?" Emma looked up at him with her eyes.
"Headache from last night…" She murmured. Liam put an arm around her, letting her rest on his shoulder. After about 5 minutes, the door suddenly burst open and in came Phoenix and Miles. Liam and Emma were frozen in place, wide eyed just looking at the two men that had just come in the room. Phoenix saw them and grinned widely. Just as he opened his mouth to comment, Emma threw something at his head. He rubbed the spot it him and looked at what Emma had thrown. It was a cup from one of Trucy's magic tricks. When he looked up, Emma was standing, glaring at him. She pointed towards the kitchen area. Phoenix shook his head and stood there, arms crossed, eye brow raised in amusement. Emma copied his pose and glared at him. Miles and Liam just watched them stand-off each other. Miles just rolled his eyes and looked at his phone for the time.
"As fun as this may be, I must be going. I have a meeting in half an hour." He looked at Liam. "I believe you are to attend the same meeting Liam?" Liam nodded slowly and finally took his eyes of the two siblings.
"Yes, do mind if you give me a lift?" He asked. Miles nodded in agreement before addressing Phoenix and Emma.
"You two sort out what you have to and we will see you later." He and Liam walked out the door. Just before the door closed, Miles spoke again. "And try not to kill each other." Then they were left in an eerie silence for a few moments until Phoenix burst out laughing. Emma groaned and punched him in the arm. Phoenix just continued to laugh. Eventually he managed to get his laughter under control and sat down. Emma continued to stand, and looked anywhere but at her brother. Her cheeks were bright red.
"Sooooooo…?" Phoenix trailed off, grinning. Emma looked at the floor.
"So what?" She murmured.
"When did you and Liam get together?" He asked, in such a casual tone, that Emma's head shot up in a sudden movement. Her eyes and mouth were wide open in shock causing Phoenix to start laughing again. Emma frowned and sat back down. She curled up, her knees under her chin and arms wrapped around her legs, head down.
"We aren't together…" She grumbled. Phoenix just smiled slightly and patted her knee.
"But you want to be?" He asked quietly. Emma turned her head slowly, so she was looking up at Phoenix. She sighed and leaned towards him, still curled up. He put an arm around her. "You know, I have no problem with it. He is perfect for you." Emma sighed again.
"It's complicated…" Phoenix was the one to sigh this time.
"Emma, if it's about him not returning your feelings then you are wrong. You only have to look at him when he is around you. He is always looking at you whenever he can." Emma looked up at her brother and cocked her head to the side. He shrugged his shoulders and grinned. "You helped me and Miles. I'm now returning the favour." Emma snorted and shoved him backwards. She stood up and put out a hand to help him up. Phoenix took it and they ended up standing in front of each other.
"Yeah, yeah. We'll see what happens. Anyway, I knew you two would get together in the end." Emma's eyes had a mischievous glint and she grinned. "I just didn't expect to walk in on you…" She trailed off with an eyebrow raised. Phoenix blushed and looked to the side, rubbing the back of his neck with right hand while the left was on his waist.
"Well…" He started but Emma held up a hand to stop him.
"Did you know that Emma-Lee and I had a bet on how we would find out your relationship?" She asked. Phoenix put on the same expression Emma had on earlier, wide eyes and mouth open. Emma just continued, with a massive grin on her face. "She said you would tell us about the both of you but I said we would end up walking in on the two of you." She shrugged. "I guess I would have gotten twenty dollars." Emma then swiped Phoenix's beanie hat and put it on her head. She giggled and ran out the office. "See ya Nicki!" Phoenix just stood in his office, a little shocked at what just happened. He shook his head and chuckled before running out the office after Emma.
