Chapter 26 - Unconditional

"Monika, will you marry me?"

I feel my cheek go red. Monika stands up out of the bed.

I feel Tyler gasp in my head.

"Xavier, don't you think that's a little fast?" Tyler says sarcastically.

I turn my focus back to Monika. She's shocked, standing still, and staring at the ring in surprise.

"Xavier…" Monika gasps.

The diamond ring glitters even more with its DDLC texture.

She takes the ring from my hand, examining it, as if to make sure she isn't dreaming.

Monika examines it from each and every angle, then puts it around her ring finger.

We kiss.

We wrap our arms around each other and our lips lock in each others' embrace.

She temporarily lets out of the kiss and says, "Yes!" and we continue.

"Fastest engagement ever." I say jokingly.

"Five days! I think that's a record!" Monika replies.

We continue to laugh and cry throughout the kiss, but it ends as soon as it starts.

We lie back down under the covers, snuggling.

"Where should we have our wedding?" I ask.

"I'm thinking Venice!"

"Is there even a Venice in DDLC?"

"Yes, there is." Tyler says. "The DDLC world is modeled after the real one, except in an obvious anime style. And while I still don't approve of this, this is your life, so I'll let you live it."

"Amazon gives me as much money as I want, so we can easily pay for a wedding." I say.

"And a honeymoon!" Monika corrects.

"Now, aren't we getting a little too far ahead, now?"

She rubs her head against my shoulder. "You can never think too far ahead, Xavier."

"Hey, Xavier, check out your desk now."

I look over at my desk. I see a short cylinder sitting on top of some papers.

"Alexa," I say. The object lights up. "Can you set up our wedding and honeymoon arrangements?"

The Echo instantly replies. "Of course." In a few seconds she spits out the price.

"The wedding and honeymoon should cost you about six million yen." The machine spits out.

"How much does that cost in dollars?" I ask.

"About fifty thousand dollars." Says the device.

"Can you guys pay for that?" I ask.

"Yeah, easy." Tyler says. "If they won't pay for it, I will myself. How could I miss your wedding?"

"Well, you kinda called me a sleazebag over it…" I sigh.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I still want you to apologize to Elizabeth, though."

"I will. I was a little hard on her."

"A little? You broke her heart!"

"Yeah, yeah…"

"I can't wait…" Monika whispers into my ear.

"Neither can I." I quietly reply.

"Good night, Xavier."

"Good night."

We fall asleep in each others' arms.
