The Peradventures of Dreamy Smurf
The Island of Big Snakes Part 2
As Dreamy did battle with the snake he realized this was no dream He was making this up in his head and none of this was just his imagination. This feeling was real and as the snake began to tire out he realized just what he was truly capable of. He had what it took to be the Smurf he wanted to be all the long. He didn't need imagination to do these things. As the snake struck again it let its' guard down for a second and that was just long enough for Dreamy to send his sword right through its head, the blade piercing the skull of the large snake through the bottom of the jaw and through the mouth up to where 3 inches of his cutlass pierced the upper jaw causing it to immediately drop dead. The large creature tried leaning forward on Dreamy's sword as it naturally fell forward, but with a little strength he was able to pull his sword out of the creature before it fell. At this point Coconut was able to simply walk out of its mouth. She was covered in stomach juices, but she was alive and all because Dreamy had saved her. This realization helped Dreamy realize that perhaps he did the power to protect those who now depended on him and perhaps he always had. He had yet another epic story to tell now that actually happened.
"I can't believe you beat that snake Dreamy." Coconut says.
"Me neither, but I had to do it I wasn't going to lose someone else." Dreamy says
"I think this island is full of these snakes… That's why no Smurf will come here." Coconut says.
"Witchdoctor said this was where the rest of my crew were. So some Smurf did come here." Dreamy says.
"What should we do Dreamy?" Coconut asks.
"First we find my crew… Then we will worry about the cave. Alchemist Smurf might be able to make better sense of Witchdoctor's tome than we could. " Dreamy says.
"Do you have any idea where to begin looking?" Coconut asks.
"Not a single clue." Dreamy says.
Coconut responds by face-palming again. At this rate she would definitely have a red hand mark permanently embed on her forehead by the end of the day.
Dreamy started hacking through the jungle and walking off in no particular direction. Coconut followed him close behind, but was concerned that another snake could attack. They would make their way deeper into the jungle slowly. Dreamy didn't have the natural talents of Natural Smurf nor the keen sense of smell of Tracker, but this wasn't going to discourage him from pressing forward. About a mile into their journey another snake poke itself down from the trees sensing movement, but once it got a whiff of Coconut it simply ascended back into the tree branch as though it were accepting her. It didn't pay any mind to Dreamy who didn't even know it appeared. Coconut immediately noticed it didn't attack and began to wonder why it hadn't until she realized her clothes and hair were still moist from the snake saliva. As damp as the jungle was that day and with little sunlight to aid her, Coconut was still more or less soaked in the rancid juices.
"Its like they think I'm one of them or something." Coconut says looking up at the snakes as they pass by one after another without incident.
"Who thinks what?" Dreamy says as he hacks away at the jungle with his sword still completely lost.
"The snakes… They won't attack us anymore." Coconut says.
"Come to think of it I have noticed how I would hear them but never see them. "Dreamy says as he struggles to pull his blade from stubborn foliage only to swing at it again. The possibility of it getting dull by this point would actually be a safe assumption. Nobody actually taught Dreamy how to properly care for a sword before he left, but then again few if any Smurfs knew such things before the village fell.
The strange yet simple solution to perhaps the greatest natural threat the island had to offer allowed Dreamy and coconut to travel further into the dark jungle where still little to no sunlight could be seen shining through the thick foliage. It was difficult to differentiate night hours from day with such lack of light. They traveled for several hours until they found themselves practically forced to sleep against their better judgement. Their surroundings were no different than the normal jungle making it seem as though they had made no progress at all. While coconut was surprisingly exhausted and was curled up against a tree trunk they were leaning against next to him with her tool box still in her hand as though it were a precious treasure, Dreamy couldn't seem to sleep. He wanted to press forward and find the rest of his crew and then he wanted to save these islands before the Smurfs here suffered the same fate as his own Smurfs. There was so much to do and time was running shorter and shorter while he remained lost in the jungle. He didn't want to have to have his crew spend another night on this island. No Smurf should ever even have to step foot here. This jungle where deadly serpents crawl all around you and the concept of time is absent had a way of dragging you in and holding you still. Struggle as you may, but to no avail for the seemingly endless dark jungle seems to never allow you to escape. How Dreamy would get out of this place is a mystery to him, but one thing was sure. He had to for the sake of every Smurf on these islands, for the sake of his crew and for Baby, and for everyone surely waiting anxiously for his return from Smurfberry Island with the Smurfberries necessary to start a new crop. As he thought to himself about all that he had to do he realized that despite how heroic he felt that he was still just one Smurf. For perhaps the first time in his life he began to think realistically, which was something he had learned to do during his time with Witchdoctor as to avoid being insulted for sounding like a nincomsmurf. He also remembers his artificial body could fail him at any moment and at which time he would be gone. He finally managed to drift away into sleep as the sounds of the jungle took him in aided by darkness.
