A month has passed since the emotional performance that was performed by Mercedes at Nationals. After what seemed like forever for her to actually remove herself from the hallway, she finally made her way in time for the announcement of the winner. Everything after that went by like a blur for Mercedes. She was so wrapped into her emotions, she didn't even notice that they had won first place, that is until Brittany came and hugged the living daylights out of her. Soon after, Mike came over doing the same and a few other members of the New Directions as well, even Rachel Berry. The next few weeks flew by without hesitation. Mercedes walked down the hallway to her locker when she was approached by a boy holding a bouquet of red roses, giving them to her, "Um.." She watched as he hurried away, shaking her head, she turned back around and was met by girl who was holding another bouquet.

"For you Mercedes Jones." She smiled as walked away.

"Seriously, what the hell is going on?" She muttered to herself as she made it to her locker, she put her combination in, opening the locker, she gasped when she saw an oversized bear stuffed in there with a medium size card. She chuckled as she grabbed the card, reading it out loud, "Meet me in the library, I have something to ask you." She laughed at his attempt to draw a heart. She sat her things into locker and headed off to the library. When she got to the door, she was confused to was there was no one in there and the lights were dimmed, following the rose petals that was laid out of the floor, she looked up and gasped when she saw Sam sitting on the table with his guitar.

"Hey there." Sam smirked as he began the strum his guitar to a non existent tune.

"Hi.." Mercedes said suspiciously as she looked him, "Where's everyone?"

"Oh, I ask the librarian for a huge favor." Sam smirked as he stood up, grabbing her hand, he led her to a seat, "I want to sing you something."

Mercedes smiled as she crossed her legs, staring at him lovingly, "Okay.."

Sam sat in front of her, fixing his hands on the right chords, he tapped his feet to the beat before he began playing.

I've been roaming around

Always looking down at all I see

Painted faces fill the places I can't reach

You know that I could use somebody

You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you

And all you know

And how you speak

Countless lovers undercover of the street

You know that I could use somebody

You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you

Sam looked up and smiled at her as he continued to play his guitar and sing.

Off in the night

While you live it up I'm off to sleep

Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat

I hope it's gonna make you notice

I hope it's gonna make you notice

Mercedes wiped her tears that were leaking from her eyes. She loved this boy so much and that was never going to change.

Someone like me

Someone like me

Someone like me

Somebody

Someone like you

Somebody

Someone like you

Somebody

Someone like you

Somebody

I've been roaming around

Always looking down at all I see

Sam smiled as he sat his guitar to side, he took her hands, "I brought you in here today because this is where I first fell in love with you, well not exactly this library but you get where I'm going. I love you so much and I can tell you that over and over and over again.." He pulled out a small box with a smirk, placing it in her hands.

Mercedes sniffled as she took the box, opening it up, she smiled at the small bracelet, reading what it said, she gasped, feeling her tears rushing down her face.

"I guess that's a yes?" He asked unclear of her emotions.

Mercedes nodded as she leaned over and hugged him. Sam had made her a purple bracelet that had pink writing on there asking her to prom, she pulled back and pressed a kiss on his lips.

Sam smiled as he kissed her lips, bringing his hands to cup her face, he tilted his head to kiss her fully, feeling the shortness of his breath.

Mercedes kissed him back passionately, pulling back breathlessly, she ran hand over his cheeks, "I love you."

"I love you too sweetheart." He smiled as he kissed her again, seeing the lights flicker, he looked at her, "Mrs. McGee only gave me fifteen minutes to use the library, so we should go." He grabbed his guitar and her hand and headed to the door.

Mercedes giggled as she followed behind him. Once they got to the hallway, she leaned against the lockers with a smile.

Sam was going in for a kiss before a tan hand blocked him from getting to her. He looked up and frowned when he saw Sue.

"No PDA in the hallway."

"Sorry coach." Mercedes smiled warmly at her.

"Mhm." She looked at them one last time before she headed down the hallway.

Sam rolled his eyes at the woman, looking back at Mercedes smirking, he leaned down, only to make contact with the locker, eyes going wide when he saw Tina pull her away, "What the hell?"

"Sorry Sam, we have important girl stuff we need to discuss." Tina threw over her shoulder before she pulled Mercedes down the hallway.

Sam huffed as he looked at them but a smile soon appeared on his face.

Mercedes sighed as she sat underneath the dryer. The week that she has had have been hectic. Between getting ready for prom, tutoring her peers, and her last cheerleading competition, Mercedes was exhausted. Picking up her phone, she smiled at the picture that Sam sent her. Between all the madness this week, something amazing happen for the both of them. Sam signed with The University of Miami, earning a full scholarship to play football. Mercedes also earned a academic scholarship at the same school. She was so happy that they were getting to go to college together. Looking back down at the picture of her, Stevie, Stacey, Sam, and Dwight with Sam on signing today, she couldn't keep the smile off of her face. She was also a little emotional today because she always wished that she had her mother here to help her get ready from prom. Don't get her wrong, she loves Karen very much and was so grateful for her..but she wasn't her mom. Sighing, she turned around and cut the dryer, sliding her rolling chair over to her vanity, she began doing her makeup.

Sam nervously fiddle with the box in his hands as he stood in the foyer of his house, groaning as his older sister, Stephanie, kept making a fuss about his hair not being right, "Stop..it's fine."

"No it's not." She huffed as she took the hairspray can, running her hands through his hair as she sprayed.

Stacey covered her mouth as she starting to cough, voice muffled as she looked at her older sister, "That's enough Stephanie."

"It really is sweetheart." Dwight said as he looked on with concern.

Stephanie sighed as she looked at them, "Fine." She sat the can on table, folding her arms across her chest, she smiled at her little brother, "You look so cute."

"You really do Sammy." Stacey said with a smile.

"Thank you girls." He smiled at his two sisters, looking over at his dad, "What you think pops?"

"I think I'm about to burst out in tears because my boy is all grown up." Dwight said with a chuckle, wiping his eyes.

"Dad." Sam said with a sad smile as he walked over and hugged the older man, "You can't be crying old man."

"I know but I'm so proud of you Sam." Dwight sniffled as he hugged him back tightly.

Sam held in his tears, letting out a slow breath, "I couldn't have done it without you, daddy."

Stephanie wiped tears as she looked on, holding her little sister against her, she snapped a couple of pictures of Sam, much to his dismay.

Dwight patted his back as he let go, looking over at the clock, "You should go. Don't want you to be late picking your date up."

"Alright." Sam slid on his jacket, fixing his bow tie up a little, he looked at them, "Tell Stevie I love him and I hope he feel better."

"We will." Stacey smiled up at him.

"Have fun Sam. Be careful, take lots of pictures, and don't forget that although babies are adorable, we don't need any right now." She gave her brother a knowing look.

His face was turning incredibly red as he headed for the door, "Love y'all." He said before he closed the door, walking down the driveway, he got into he truck and buckled up. He pulled out and drove the distance to Mercedes house. After twenty minutes, he was pulling into Mercedes's driveway. Taking a deep breath, he turned off his engine and grabbed the small box from the passenger seat and got out. He nervously walked up to the door, his hand shakily ringing the doorbell.

Micah was home again from school. This was Mercedes's senior prom and he was not going to miss sending his little sister off for tonight. Hearing the doorbell ring, he hopped off the couch to go answer it, looking out the peephole, he smirked as he opened the door, looking at the nervous blonde, "Well don't you look cute Evans."

Sam laughed at Micah, "Thanks..I guess." He watched as he moved aside to let him in.

Karen was just walking down the stairs from getting her camera when she heard the doorbell ring, seeing that Micah had got it, she smiled when she saw Sam, "You look very handsome Sam."

"Thank you Ms. Karen." Sam smiled at her.

"You're welcome sweetheart, come on, let me get a picture of just you." She smiled as she snapped a couple of pictures of him.

Sam chuckled as she took pictures of him, smiling when she said that she had enough. He looked around, taking notice that Mr. Jones wasn't here, but he wasn't surprised. After what happened at nationals, he didn't take pity on the man at all. He came out of his thoughts when he heard Karen gasp, looking over at her, he followed her line of sight up the stairs, his mouth going dry and dropping a little at the sight of his girlfriend.

Mercedes let out a small breath as she walked out of her room, hearing the voices talking, she smiled softly when she stood at the top of the stairs, seeing the looks on their faces was priceless. She had on a short midnight blue colored dress with a combination of lace and sequins, a sheer lace neckline and back. She had on all black suede platform wedge heels with a small bow on the straps. Her makeup was very natural, she did little smokey eye with nude colored lips and her hair was in a tight spiral natural curly hairstyle. She bit her lip as she walked down the stairs carefully, never taking eyes off her boyfriend.

It wasn't until she heard her brother clear his throat repeatedly that snapped her out of her gaze.

"Where's the rest of the dress?" He slapped her bare hip with the back of his hand, his eyes was wide when she walked down the stairways.

"Ouch Micah, that's hurts." She pushed his shoulder with a frown.

"Yeah it wouldn't hurt if you had on a regular long prom dress that covered it." He folded his arms across his chest, turning to Karen with a pout, "You can't let her go out like that."

"Micah, there's nothing wrong with the dress. It's four inches above her knee." She turned to Mercedes with a smile, "You look beautiful sweetheart."

"Thank you." Mercedes smiled softly, chuckling when she heard her brother mumbling that she did indeed look beautiful but the dress was still too short for his liking. She turned back to Sam and smiled, "Hi.."

"Hi." He croaked out as he looked at her, "You look absolutely amazing..stunning actually."

"Thank you." She smiled as she looked at his bow tie with a chuckle, "You don't look too bad yourself." She ran her hand over his suit with a smile.

"Thanks." He smiled at her, noticing that he was still holding the box, "I brought this for you." He smirked as he opened the box and pulled the white corsage out, sitting the box on the table, he grabbed her right wrist and slid it on.

Mercedes smiled as she place it on her wrist, "It's beautiful." She looked at him, leaning over to press a small kiss on his cheek, she ignored the flash of a camera as she pulled back.

"Come on you two. I want some pictures." Karen smiled at them.

Sam nodded as he looked at Mercedes with a warm smile, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her closely.

Mercedes smiled as she placed her hand on Sam's lower back, looking back at Karen with a bright, happy smile.

Karen snapped a few pictures of the couple before she put it away, going over to hug Mercedes, "Have fun."

Mercedes hugged her back, "I will." She smiled as she let go, going on to her pouting brother, she chuckled as she hugged him also, whispering in his ear, "Thank you for being here."

"Always." He whispered back as he hugged back tightly, letting go, he glanced at Sam as he opened the door, "Take care of her."

Sam nodded as he grabbed Mercedes's hand, leading her outside, he opened the door to his truck and helped her in, closing her door, he rounded the front and go into the driver's seat. He looked over at Mercedes with a small smile, "You really look gorgeous."

Mercedes blushed at his comment, moving some of her out of her face, she leaned over and gave him a soft kiss on the lips, "Thank you baby."

"Don't thank me." He smiled as he started his truck up, pulling out the driveway, he headed down the street to their destination.

When they arrived at the school, Mercedes and Sam sat and talked to some of their friends. They were really enjoying themselves and couldn't believe that this was their first and last prom together.

Mercedes smiled when Sam asked her to dance. Following him to the dance floor, she wrapped her arms around his neck as they danced slowly to the music.

Sam smirked as he looked down at her, making sure he kept her close, "I really can't believe you didn't run for homecoming queen."

Mercedes snorted, looking up at him through her lashes, "Hell no, I'll leave that to Quinn. I barely wanted to do cheerleading again. "

Sam chuckled as he leaned down and kissed her lips, "Well thank you for doing it."

"I obviously had no choice. You know what you did to make me do it Sam." She gave him a pointed look.

Sam gave her a cheeky grin, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Yes you do." She laughed as she looked at him, "You said you would show everyone the most embarrassing picture you took of me and I knew which one it was." Mercedes said horrified. Three summers ago, many of the kids in Lima went to a camp that was held two hours away from town. Of course Mercedes, Santana, Sam, Quinn, Mike, Tina, Artie and a few others were some to go. The girls and boys had separate areas where they slept. One night, Sam snuck out of his room to go see Mercedes and Santana. When he got there he couldn't help but laugh at the pint size diva. Mercedes had her mouth wide open with a spoon of peanut butter in it, snoring loudly. Her glasses were lopsided on her face, and the metal from her braces was shining blindly as the night lamp shined in her face. Mercedes shivered as she came out of her memory, her cheeks turning red, "That was so embarrassing."

"It was so cute though." He kissed her nose just as the music stopped and Figgins came on the mic, calling for all homecoming nominees to come to the stage. Sam kissed Mercedes one last time before he made his way on the stage.

Mercedes folded her arms as she watched everyone make their way to the stage, smirking when she saw Josh come by her, "I'm surprised you're not up there."

"Nah, I'm too cool for that." He wrapped an arm around her.

"Good evening McKinley. Hope you are enjoying your time here tonight." Mr. Figgins said in his usual bored tone, "I have the results for the winners.." He opened the ivory colored envelope, "This year's homecoming king and queen is no other than...Sam Evans and Quinn Fabray."

Mercedes cheered loudly for her boyfriend and friend. She was glad Quinn won because she didn't want one of those other skanky girls near her man. She watched with a smile as they both got crowned and Sam lead Quinn to the middle of the floor for a dance.

"I should go back to my date before she leaves me." Josh said before he left.

Mercedes shook his head at him, looking over at Puck, she smiled when he came to her.

"Since our dates are busy, would you like to dance?" Puck asked with a smirk, holding out his hand.

"Sure Puckerman." Mercedes smiled as she grabbed his hand and followed him to the center of the gym.

Quinn chuckled as Sam twirled her around, placing her hand back on his shoulder, "I'm so happy for you and Mercy."

Sam smiled at her, "Thanks Quinn. I think with everything that has happened to us this year, it has only made us stronger." He looked around the gym, spotting their cause of trouble laughing it up with her date.

Quinn looked to where he was looking and rolled her eyes, "Still can't believe she tried to break y'all up."

"Yeah..I can't believe it either but it's over now.." Sam shrugged, he looked to the side where he heard a familiar giggle, seeing Mercedes and Puck dancing, well he was trying to at least.

"He has two left feet I swear but I love him." Quinn giggled as she looked at her boyfriend.

Feeling eyes on them, Mercedes and Puck turned to see their significant others looking at them, they waved and went back to dancing.

After an eventful and fun night at prom, Sam and Mercedes decided to take it in around one. Their friends had asked them to come to an after party but Sam had other plans. Stepping off the elevator of the hotel, he took his girlfriend by the hand and led them down the hall. Sliding his key in the door, he pushed it opened and walked in.

"This is nice." Mercedes said as she sat her clutch on the table, sliding out of her heels.

"You like it?" Sam asked as he plopped down on the bed, looking at her.

"Mhm." She said as she placed her hair into a bun, walking over to him, she got into the bed and straddled his lap, bending down to press her lips against his, "Thank you for an amazing night."

Sam wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her down to him, he nuzzled her neck, planting a kiss here and there, "Thank you for being my date."

Mercedes smiled as she laid down on his chest. That night, the two didn't do anything other than talk.
