Chapter Twenty-Six; Incredulous
Mr. Doctor Man – Palaye Royale
I question your hand
Lilith felt disgusted. She wanted to vomit, wretch and bawl her eyes out. In fact, she'd be ready to tear her eyes out if someone asked her to. What laid in front of her was one of the most volatile things she had ever seen. A dead man, who had exploded in blood. You know who did that.
"Lilly, eat something, I made you it," he said as he drank from his plastic cup. He placed it back down on the table with a grin. "Why aren't you eating anything?" He asked innocently.
"You know why Kai," she huffed, trying not to look at the sprawled out man laying on the table. Her eyes drifted over to the fourth person at the table and saw that she was still knocked out. "Why is she still unconscious? She's a va-" Never mind, she thought as she saw Elena twitch.
"I like this, I like this a lot," said Kai, scooping more food into his moth as he kept smiling at Lilith. "See, we never went out to dinner when I was a kid, so, I always had this fascination with chefs and fine dining. Dad actually let me cook... Taught me to measure by eye. Seasonings to taste, all that stuff, but it's different now in the restaurant world. Everything's on time. It's like, the fries go in, you push a button, it dings and you take 'em out. Literally no guess work."
Lilith hadn't listened to him at all, she was too busy watching Elena try to escape from the vervain soaked ropes but she was still too weak to pass of the offending substance.
"Why am I here?" Elena asked, tugging on the ropes once again. Lilith glanced t Kai.
" Uh, well I spent eighteen years in abandoned restaurants and now I'm showing off the fruits of my labor," said Kai, shrugging his shoulders.
"Freak," Lilith mumbled under her breath, hissing when she felt Kai kick her leg.
"I don't mean the Mystic Grill," said Elena, giving Kai a weird look.
"Oh, you mean like, here here, in Mystic Falls." He laughed. "Sorry, I'm nervous. You're like, really pretty," He jumped when he felt a kick to his shin, sliding a hand under the table to rub his shin, relieving the pain. "Now, now. No need to get jealous Lilikins," he said, winking at her.
She blushed and glanced down before she was gruesomely reminded of the sprawled out body on the floor.
"What do you see in him?" Lilith cocked an eyebrow and glanced up at Elena, gathering the question was directed at her before looking over at Kai who smiled innocently.
"Have you seen him?" Asked Lilith, being truthful as she hinted to Elena what she thought of his looks.
"Awe, babycakes, you're so sweet to me," said Kai, grabbing Lilith's hand that was resting beside the plate. He squeezed, giving her a false loving glance.
"Anyway, I took the spell that was keeping supernaturals out of Mystic Falls and I, I like absorbed it...Like ate it, I guess," began Kai, taking another bite of his food before continuing. "It's cool, huh? First I eat magic, and then eventually, I lose it. But a huge spell like that? I mean, come on. Magic's oozing out of me, it's all over the place. You know, I didn't quite realize I was out of control until I met the manager of the Grill a few hours ago. And he was all like." Kai began to mock the manager. 'Hey, you can't come in here; we're closed. And you have an unconscious girl over your shoulder.' And then I was like, 'Don't judge me.' And then I gave him a heart-attack-" He gave a look to Lilith who began to cringe. "-tried to, but all I did was make him vomit uncontrollably, which was like, ugh, let's stop that. So then I tried again and I think I broke his spine? I mean, I'm not, I'm not really sure, because the third time I tried the spell, he kinda exploded in blood. Whoops."
Lilith and Elena both watched as Kai sipped of his coffee, one of pure disgust (Ewlena) and the other was pale as a white sheet of paper.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Questioned Elena, shaking her head at him.
"No yo-" Began Lilith but Kai quickly cut her off.
"I just told you, I have too much magic. You know, it wasn't until after my test run with the manager that I realized, if I start to merge with Jo and my gushing fountains of magic turn her into that guy, then I'm not gonna have a twin for the merge. So, Elena, that is why you are here. Because I need to get my magic under control. By practicing with you. Or rather, by practicing on you. I can't do it with Lilith anymore because in this world she won't come back to me."
Elena looked horrified whilst Lilith was pleased that Kai wanted to keep her around.
"Oh, PS: Silver lining, after the manager finally stopped thrashing around, I finally managed a cloaking spell. Thank you. It's easy to do and...undo. Phasmatos oculix."
Lilith knew that Elena could now see him when she jumped back in horror, her face melting into one of pure disgust, joining the paleness of Lilith.
"Table for four," he laughed, "you had no idea."
"Where are we going now?" Lilith asked as Kai carried an unconscious Elena over his shoulder once again. This time he had stolen a car.
"Uh, the school," he kept clicking his fingers. He opened the car door and dropped Elena into the back seat carelessly, slamming the door shut. "Mystic Falls high school or something," he guessed. "Get in the car."
Lilith complied and ran to the other side, getting into the passenger seat. "You really are practicing on her aren't you?"
Kai set the car into drive, trying to remember the directions a woman had given him to the school. "Well yeah, I just tried turning her blood into acid but I guess something else happened."
Lilith shook her head at how calmly he had spoken those words.
Once they got to the school, Lilith helped Kai break into the empty school, thankfully it was still Winter break. She helped Kai to chain her up to the ceiling lights, where he gets all these chains on, she doesn't even want to know.
"So much exercise," she breathed heavily, leaning against him. Kai laughed and wrapped an arm around her, leaning his cheek onto her head.
"Yeah, but you get to spend the day with me, so that makes it all better," he joked, squeezing her softly before letting her go.
Lilith immediately missed the feeling of him next to her but willed herself not to show him how much it affected her. She watched him as he looked around the hallway, his hand trailing along the lockers before he gracefully walked over to the cabinet full of trophies.
That was when Elena decided to wake up, once again struggling with vervain bounds. Lilith felt that Kai had kink for bondage, whenever he had a victim, he seemed to like to see them chained or bound.
"We're in my high school?" Elena realised, looking around the familiar hallway. She looked from Lilith who was stood a few feet away from her and Kai who was bent in front of the cabinet.
"They have plenty of restrooms, no flammable surfaces, and everyone's on winter break...Still. You know, it's no wonder America got dumb while I was locked up; they're never in school." He looked back at the cabinet. "Is that you? Oh, and there's Bonnie. You guys look so innocent. Smiling, like nothing bad could ever happen to you."
Lilith felt herself become angry at Kai before letting out a breath.
"Anyway, you mind If I try to turn your blood into acid again?" Kai asked, coming to stand next to Lilith.
"Again?"
"Yeah, that's uh, that's kinda how you got here in the first place." He started to take his jacket off and passed it to Lilith who slipped into it. "I was trying the whole acid-blood thing and I think I burst a few important capillaries in your brain because you blacked out."
"Kai, you don't have to do this. Listen to me, you don't have to do this."
"It won't work," Lilith told Elena as Kai began to chant something.
"What do y- Ow! Stop!" Elena yelled, looking up at her hand. "My ring. Kai, you're melting my ring. Lilith stop him!" She ordered the girl but was ignored. Elena felt anger cinsume her and pulled her arms down bringing the ceiling and lights with her. She blurred away from them, cutting off Kai.
"Well, that didn't go as planned," Kai sighed, following after Elena.
"No, really?" Replied Lilith sarcastically.
It was Lilith who walked into the chemistry lab, Kai standing behind her when he said, "take it that ring meant something to you? I never understood sentimental attachments to things, because then it's so upsetting when you lose them."
Lilith's eyes widened when she saw Elena put her hand into the sunlight, her limb suddenly set on fire before she turned on the gas. She felt hands around her waist before she was soaring through the air, fire exploding behind her. She felt her heart in her throat as she landed awkwardly on her wrist. Lilith looked up and saw that Elena had blurred away once again whilst Kai got up from the floor, his shirt charred.
"That was impressive, wasn't it?" He laughed, pulling the hot shirt away from his skin before completely stripping himself of it.
Lilith's eyes widened as she got up from the floor, looking anyway but at Kai who noticed this and began to chuckle. "What's up? My hot body making you nervous?" Lilith blushed furiously.
