Chapter 26: The Final Battle Pt3
Brooklyn Bridge-1932-Night
Both Spiderman and Swift Cloud are still kissing from under the bridge, while the rest of the league is looking down at them from over the edge.
Rocketeer: How long have they been...? Are they breathing though their ears or something?
Green Hornet: HEY! CUT IT SHORT YOU TWO!
After who knows how long, the two young heroes finally break their kiss and look up to their teammates, then back into each other.
Spiderman: We...we should probably?
Swift Cloud: Sure.
He breaks the line he was on and shoots another web, causing them to swing under the bridge, round and over to the opposite side of the bridge, Swift Cloud holding on tightly and lets out a scream.
Swift Cloud: YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAWWWWWWWW!
They land on the bridge and the rest to the league gather round them.
Swift Cloud: Wow! So that's what it feels like. We gotta do that again.
Spiderman: Tell you what. If we survive this, I'll take you for a ride.
Swift Cloud raises an eyebrow at him.
Whoa! Wait that went somewhere horrible, hang on, delete.
Spiderman touches the keyboard presses the "Delete" button and begins to rewrite the previous dialogue.
There we go.
Spiderman: Tell you what. If we survive this, I'll take you for a spin.
That's better.
Rocketeer: Swift Cloud, how are you feeling?
Swift Cloud: Fine, I feel fine. Thank you, all of you.
Each member of the league either gives her a hug or offer pats on her shoulder.
Kato: Nearly thought we lost you there in a minute?
Phantom: Please the kids a lot tougher than she looks.
Shadow: Agreed!
Everyone quietly looks at Shadow. From beneath his cloak he takes out Swift Cloud's Stetson, it must have fallen off as the two heroes topple over the bridge.
Shadow: It seems you finally faced your demons, so are you ready...Jackie?
He hands the Stetson over to her; she examines it before twirling it and placing it on her head.
Swift Cloud: Oh I was born ready.
Tracy: Hey!
Everyone looks round in the directions of Dick Tracy, who was approaching the group. The rest of his forces are helping the cured people around them as they start to regain consciousness.
Tracy: That was...unbelievable. I thought that was the end back there and then you lot...thank you.
Spiderman: Hey it's what we masked heroes do, save the day; beat the villain, save the girl.
Swift Cloud: Slow down Cowboy, we haven't saved the day yet.
Tracy: Do you think you can? I mean do you lot truly believe you can?
Shadow: We can and we will, we just need to find out where Goblin is.
Swift Cloud: The Empire States Building, that's where I woke up after I was taken.
Tracy: That's possible, the first reports of these creature attacks was around that area.
Rocketeer: So someone flies that autogiro over the Island, release the gas, cure the Symbiotes and leave us an opening to reach the Goblin.
Shadow: No! If we cure them now, Goblin will know that his plan is at risk and might detonate the bomb before we get there. No we have to cure them after we secure the bomb.
Zorro: Señor? You are suggesting that we fight our way though...who knows how many Symbiotes?
Spiderman: He's right; we can't risk Goblin Setting of the bomb. Detective, you stay here and hold this bridge, since most of the Symbiotes will be focused on us, you shouldn't encounter anything big. League of Exrodinarly Gentlemen, arm up...we're going in...Rambo style.
Swift Cloud:...Who?
Tracy: League of what?
OK! That's it! Prosp88, if you don't come up with a better name by the end of this story, I'll web your shorts to your head!
SHIELD Tri-Carrier-1932-Night
Though out the hallways of the Tri-Carrier, Ava and MJ are trying to outrun the Sym-Nova, however it is too fast for them. So Ava turns to face it and slashes at the Symbiote with her claws, making it scream in pain.
Ava: MJ! THAT ROOM THEIR, GO!
MJ runs to a nearby room and presses the panel to open the door, as it opens slowly; claws reach out from the narrow opening and try to grab at her.
MJ: AVA!
Ava looks round, seeing the Symbiotes runs over to MJ, grabs her hand and leads her down the hallway and round a corner. Sym-Nova and the rest of the Symbiotes chase the two teenagers round the corner only to find that they have disappeared. As they race down the hallway the Symbiotes fail to notice the slightly agar air vent. Waiting for the Symbiotes to pass by, MJ and Ava are looking down and trying to keep quiet, as the Symbiote leave the girls start to crawl their way along the ventilation system.
MJ: If somebody told me this morning that I would be crawling though the vents of a highly advanced military aircraft, flying over New York City to avoid being chased by slimy black monsters...I would have been very sceptical.
Ava: Keep quiet and keep moving, we have to get to the bridge and find out what's going on.
The two of them crawl their way along the ventilation system for a few minutes when Ava starts chuckling to herself.
MJ: What's so funny?
Ava: Sorry it's just, crawling though vent shafts tends to be Peters thing.
Manhattan-1932-Night
Throughout the streets of Manhattan, Symbiotes are causing chaos, damaging property and vehicles, scaling the walls of buildings and rooftops, while forcing civilians to hide in boarded up buildings. As a group of Symbiotes gather in the street a load noise is heard, like an engine. They turn in the direction of the noise only to be blinded by a green light and suddenly the Black Beauty comes into full view, running over the Symbiotes and followed closely by Rocketeer and Spiderman.
Spiderman: STRIKE! Oh yeah, GTA 5 dude's!
Rocketeer: Kid! Looks like we got their attention!
Spiderman looks down to see that another horde of Symbiotes have started to chase the Black Beauty. The trunk of the car opens to reveal Swift Cloud, wielding the .30 Caliber M1919A6 Browning machine gun and opens fire on the Symbiotes, keeping them at bay. While at the same time the car's front machine guns and missiles are used to take down Symbiotes and obstructions blocking its way. Spiderman swings down and starts webbing Symbiotes while Rocketeer fires his grenade launcher into the horde as well.
Spiderman: Nice work! I stick, you blast!
Rocketeer: Spiderman! Up ahead, on the roof top!
He looks ahead to see a group of Symbiotes on a roof top, surrounding two small boys.
Spiderman: let's go!
On the building's roof top, a Symbiote lashes out making one of the boys lose his balance and falls over
?: GET AWAY FROM HIM!
The other boy, a blonde, wimpy kid picks up a lead pipe and stand between them. He swings the pipe at the Symbiotes. As they get closer, a Symbiote knocks the pipe out of the boy's hand and forces him closer to the edge of the roof top.
Spiderman: Yo! Ugly!
Spiderman leaps down and lands on the shoulders of one Symbiote, then leaping off it and web shoots it in the head and using his momentum to lift it up and over his head and slams it into the ground hard enough to cause a small shock wave and knock down the rest of the Symbiotes. Then he swings it round and round, knocking all the Symbiotes off the building. As one Symbiote is thrown off, it uses one of its tentacles to knock the wimpy kid off the roof and into an ally.
Spiderman: NO!
As he leaps to the edge to see down below, the Rocketeer flies up from the ally, having caught the boy then landing on the roof. He puts the boy down.
?: Gee whiz thanks mister!
Rocketeer: You alright kid?
?: I'm ok, if you two hadn't shown up!
Spiderman: No problem kid! That was a brave thing you did there, helping your friend.
?: For what good it did, I can't fly and I'm not strong. I'm too scrawny to stand a chance in a fight.
Spiderman: Hey having a unique power is not our only asset, their just one tool in our tool box,
Spiderman kneels down in front of the kid and places a hand on his shoulder.
Spiderman: As a great hero once said "if you use all your skills at your disposal and be unpredictable, you'll always stand a fighting chance"
?: Wow thanks, mister?
Spiderman: Well I'm Spiderman and this is my trusty sidekick Rocketeer.
Rocketeer: Please! You're the sidekick, see you later kid.
Spiderman: Find somewhere to hide and stay safe, and don't worry we've got things covered.
As Rocketeer flies away and Spiderman swings after him, the kid looks in awe after the heroes.
?: Steve! Steve! Come on we gotta go!
Steve: Sure ok.
Meanwhile back at the Black Beauty, a couple of Symbiotes have jumped onto the roof of the car and try to claw their way through it. The two rear door windows open and both Phantom and Shadow lean out and shoot them off, before Shadow goes back inside, another Symbiote leaps out from nowhere and grabs onto him. As they struggle, the door he's leaning out off opens, with him still stuck in the window.
Phantom: SHADOW!
Zorro leans out and tries to pull the Shadow back into the car, but as he reaches closer, two more Symbiotes jump from nearby buildings onto the swinging door, causing the door to break off and hurl Shadow and the Symbiotes into the streets.
Swift Cloud: STOP! WE HAVE TO...
Shadow: I'm fine, keep going!
Swift Cloud: But?
Back with the Shadow, he's on his feet and is now surrounded by a horde of Symbiotes, baring their teeth and claws menacingly at him. Shadow draws his two pistols.
Shadow: I'll catch up when I'm done here.
While back at the Black Beauty another problem emerges. As the car turns at a street corner, they come face to face with another horde of Symbiotes between them and the Empire States building.
Zorro: This could be a problem?
Kato: Not really, everyone hold on tight.
He slams his foot down on the accelerator and heads towards a fruit truck with is back lowered like a ramp.
Phantom: You're not going to...?
Green Hornet: He sure is!
As soon as the Black Beauty reaches the truck, the booster is activated and the car zooms up the ramp and over the horde of Symbiotes. The car crashes down past the Symbiotes and screeches to a halt right in front of the Empire States building.
Zorro: let's...not do that again.
Swift Cloud: Err! Guys we still have a problem!
Everyone looks behind them out of the rear window to see the horde of Symbiotes surround the Black Beauty.
Green Hornet: Everyone put your respirators on, now!
They do so, and Swift Cloud pulled a red handkerchief out of her pocket and tied it round her mouth, making her look like a bandit. The Symbiotes rush forward to attack them.
Green Hornet: NOW!
With the push of a button, blue smoke is released from around the Black Beauty and engulfs the entire area. After a minute or so, the league steps out of the vehicle and observe their surroundings as the smoke clears. Every single Symbiote has been turned back into humans and now lying unconscious around them, as the league head towards the States building, Spiderman and Rocketeer arrive and land amongst them.
Rocketeer: That was one crazy stunt you pulled.
Spiderman: That's because Kato's a crazy good driver...which reminds me, Kato, is that your real name?
Kato: Err! Yes?
Spiderman: Not anymore it's not, for now own you're...? The Black Cougar!
Kato:...No!
Spiderman: I know, The Black Wasp!
Kato: No!
Swift Cloud: Black Panther!
Kato: Don't help him.
Spiderman: I think that's already taken, wait! Where's Shadow?
Phantom: We we're ambushed and well...we had to leave him behind.
Spiderman: YOU WHAT!
Zorro: Calm yourself Señor Spider! I've seen Señor Shadow fight before, he'll be fine.
Swift Cloud: He said he would catch up.
Spiderman: Well in that case...be better get moving.
Rocketeer: I'll head back to the autogyro, get it ready and besides...I can't fly around well inside a building.
He takes off and the rest of the league head towards the main entrance. Spiderman gazes up at the building and whispers under his breath.
Spiderman: I'm ready for you Goblin.
Floor 102 E.S.B
On the top floor of the States building, in the observatory, the Vulture and some of the Goblins men are preparing a giant metal sphere, the atomic bomb. Looking out of the observatory windows onto the vast City before him, the Goblin grins then takes out a small radio and specks into it.
Goblin: My dear Enforcers listen up, it seems our guests will be arriving shortly and I expect you to carry out your instructions to the letter.
Hammerhead: Right boss!
Persuasion: Oh! I can't wait!
Fancy Dan: They ain't getting passed me and the boys!
Goblin: Hammerhead, Persuasion and you three make your way to the lounge on the 100th floor; I have something there for you that should tip the odds in your favour.
Hammerhead: Err; ok Mr Osborn, over and out.
Goblin switches off the radio and Vulture approaches him.
Vulture: Ready boss, the timer has been set.
Goblin: Perfect! Get the gliders ready for our departure... then I have another task for you.
The Goblin starts to laugh loudly and manically as he picks up the detonator, walks over to the bomb and pats it gently.
