Chapter 26: Caroline.
A knock on the door woke me up, I was alone in our room, Nik must have carried me here while I was asleep. Another knock.
"Yes?"
"Caroline, I'm Elijah, may I come in?" he asked polite. I looked at myself, I had a sleepy face but my clothes from before so you could say I was okay.
"Yes come in" I said. He came in and closed the door.
"Caroline, I'm sorry to disturb you but I have news that you are not going to like" he said serious.
"What news? Where is Nik?" I asked, panic filling me.
"He has been abducted by your father" he said and my world stopped. I was paralyzed, I couldn't breath I couldn't do anything. I couldn't do… anything. My love, my life, everything he was to me was now in danger. The panic controlling my body, my mind, and me; I can't do anything right now. Elijah brought me back, he was shacking me trying to bring me back.
"Caroline!" he shouted at me and I snapped and looked at him "Caroline, look at me. We know where he is we are going to rescue him but we have a plan to follow and I need you to come with me" he said.
"What? What plan, I'm in" I said.
"There are two plans, Caroline and you are in one" he said.
"Tell me everything" I said.
"Niklaus has already had everything set for you"
"What do you mean?"
"He had a plan set in case that he was hurt or killed, you are going to leave the country, there is already a house and a bank account with all the money we have but without any evidence that is from us. Your flight leaves in thirty minutes, there is a house in Europe waiting for you and your mother" he said "come on get up, you don't need to pack. I need to put you inside that flight before I go to save my brother, he made me swear it"
"You are going to break your word then" I said. He looked at me "I'm going with you to safe your brother who is my husband" I said.
"No, Niklaus will kill me"
"I'll kill you if you try to put me in that plane" I said deadly serious.
"Bloody hell Caroline, don't be stubborn I need to save my brother" he said.
"I want to help you and I'm not going anywhere but to him" I said, he looked at me.
"Fine" he took his phone and called someone "Caroline is coming with us, yes I need another vest and gun for her. Her mother will be in her plane with the rest. Yes everything is set, we are going to leave now" he said into the phone. I was with my sneakers on and ready to fight for his husband. Inside of me I was terrified, but ready to fight for the love of my life "Follow me " he said and they both left the room, I was following him "Caroline listen to me, you are coming with me but you have to stay behind me all the time, if you get hurt, Niklaus will kill me. You are going to have a vest and a gun. Do you know how to use one?" he asked me and I nodded. We were in the garage, there were like thirty men in there "Listen to me all of you, this is a mission to rescue my brother, the plan we are going to follow is number fifteen…" he continued talking while a man came to me and gave me a vest and a gun, he helped me to put the vest on and explained to me how to use the gun, it was like my mother's so I already knew it all. He said the gun was ready to shoot, only the gun safe was on so I had to turn it off when I will be ready to shoot, I sighed, I will kill my father if it means I will save Nik's life "…very well, everybody knows what to do" Elijah finished his talk. He took me by the arm and we went to a car. We got in and the driver started to drive.
"What is all of that about the fifteen plan?" I asked.
"We have twenty plans that all our men know and ten that only our inner circle know, we are going to use number fifteen, is the best option and a plan set by Niklaus in case he was absent" he explained to me. "You know how to use the gun, right?"
"Yes is the same that my mom had" I said.
"Good"
"Elijah, we are going to find him alive, right?" I asked.
"I hope so" he said.
"You have to tell me yes, no 'I hope so', he is the love of my life, maybe you don't know me very well, but I would give my life for him" I said and he looked at me.
"I'm glad you are his wife and now part of my family, Caroline" he said to me.
"I'm glad too" I said.
"We are here" the driver said.
"Listen to me Caroline, you don't know the plan, so please stay behind me, we know what we are doing" he said, I nodded and turned off the gun safe. I was ready to kill for my love.
Everything was set, every man in each door, we could hear the screams coming from inside. Nik's screams, I wanted to cry, they were torturing him and my father was the one doing it. I have never felt this way, this rage and this impulse to kill but now, hearing my love's screams I didn't want anything else but kill. Elijah made a signal to other men and they started to kill every man they found in their way, leaving our way free to Nik.
Elijah was knocked by a man that we didn't see coming to us, he was going to hit me but I heard Nik's screams and all I saw was red, I shoot my gun to the guy and killed him, another one of our men came to us.
"Take care of Elijah" I said and I went running to the screams, I found a huge room like the central nave of a church but it wasn't a church. My father was in the center with Nik, he was hitting him while he was screaming on the floor.
The time stopped, I couldn't feel anything but rage, he was my love and a man was hitting him until his death, not by my father but only a man who was going to die. I pointed my gun to that man and I shoot, the bullet hit him in his head and he fell to the floor, death. I run to my love and kneel beside him.
"Nik! Nik! Wake up, please, don't leave me you can't leave me, you can't die, I forbid you to die, do you hear me? Don't you dare to die!. I love you please" I said crying, he didn't move, Elijah and another man came to me.
"What happened?" Elijah asked.
"Please help me, he doesn't move" I said, Elijah kneel down next to me.
"Call, Chuck and say we need our clinic to attend Niklaus and more men" Elijah said, he looked at me "he is alive, his heart is beating" he said to me and I cried, happy tears, because he was alive.
"He needs to go to the hospital"
"Caroline, we have our own hospital" Elijah said.
"What?"
"We are the mafia, we can't just go to the hospital" he said.
"Okay but we have to hurry" I said, I tear my shirt and started to clean Nik's face and injuries. I cried and I took his head in my lap "you are going to be okay, my love. You are going to be good and we are going to go to our honeymoon" I said crying, two men came in.
"Miss Forbes we need to take him to our hospital" a man told me.
"I am Mrs Mikaelson" I said and he nodded "take him to the hospital" I said and I was next to him while another two men were taking him.

Nik was in our bed, he had three broken ribs a contusion in his head and his left arm broken. Chuck said that there wasn't any internal bleeding but if he would have been kicked more a rib could have stacked his heart. I was sitting next in a chair next to our bed, taking care of him. He hadn't woken up in two days, my anxiety didn't let me sleep so I was very tired but I couldn't leave him alone. Every few minutes I went to him and caressed his cheek telling him how much I love him, I didn't want him to forget that I was here with him or him thinking that he was all alone. I went to him and caressed his cheek.
"Hello my love, I'm still here, I love you and you are not alone" I said and kissed his cheek. He moved and I stopped breathing. His eyes opened and he looked at her "Nik, my love" I said crying.
"Am I dead?" he said, his voice rasped from the lack of use.
"No, you are very much alive" I said "how are you feeling?" I asked anxious.
"Well, everything hurts but I have seen an angel, my blonde angel" he said and I smiled "you are even more beautiful than in my dreams" he said "what happened?"
"We saved you from The Five" I said.
"What? You were suppose to be in France" he said "I'll kill Elijah"
"No, we are going to France together and you are not going to kill Elijah because I made him take me with him. I would have killed him if he had dared to put me in the plane. By the way you have some explain to do, mister, but not now. You have to rest and you can't move" I said to him.
"Very well nurse Mikaelson" he said funny and I smiled.
"I'm going to find Chuck and let him know that you are awake" I told him but he stopped me.
"Please wait here with me for a little while" he said, I had my doubts "I want a little more time with just us" he said and I nodded.
"But you can't move" I said and he smiled at me
"I know that I am not alone and I love you too" he said and I looked at him shyly.
"Did you hear me?" I asked softly.
"Yes, I don't think that all the times you told me but most of them" he said "you look very tired, have you slept at all?"
"No, but I don't care I'm not tired"
"You're lying" he said.
"I'll rest later" I said.
"Come on, rest here with me" he said.
"We have to inform Chuck that you are awake" I said.
"Later" he told me softly.
"No, now" I said and he rolled his eyes. I took my phone and called Chuck's number and Elijah's, letting them know that Nik was awake. When I hung up I went next to him and sit in the our bed's edge taking Nik's hand in mine "I didn't want you to feel alone, I wanted you to know that I was here with you" I whispered. He looked at me, and knew I was referring to what he heard me saying when he was out.
"I knew" he said, someone knocked on the door.
"Come in" I said, Elijah and Chuck came in.
"Hello boss" Chuck said, "I'm going to check you and let you rest" he said and Nik nodded.
"Hello brother" Elijah said "how are you feeling?"
"Everything hurts but fine" he said.
"Good to know" Elijah said.
"But I want to kill you" Nik said and I rolled my eyes.
"I know" Elijah said.
"I will do it the first moment I am recovered" he said.
"Oh no, mister, that is not the first thing you are going to do" I said and he looked at me with that look and I blushed.
"Well, only because the lady here insists you are the second in my list" Nik said and Elijah smiled.
"Everything is perfect" Chuck said "you have three broken ribs, a contusion in you head and left arm broken, so please boss, don't move and don't stress. The ribs will hurt you they are very difficult to heal, so you have to be careful, they can stake you in your heart and lung, so please don't move much until a few days later" Chuck said, Nik was going to argue but I stopped him.
"He will do everything you say, Chuck I'll be sure he does" I said and Chuck nodded.
"I trust you Mrs. Mikaelson" Chuck said with a chuckled and left.
"The Five are dead, for good" Elijah said to Nik who nodded.
"Thank you brother" he said.
"Don't thank me, it was your wife" Elijah said and Nik looked at me "I'll leave the both of you alone, I'm glad you are back with us" Elijah said and left us alone.
"What does he mean?" Nik asked me.
"I killed Bill" I said softly, it was the first time I accepted that I killed my father and another man, and the worst part was that I didn't feel guilty, maybe I was a monster.
"You are not a monster" he said reading my mind.
"I don't feel guilty about it"
"You did it to save me, because you love me, you are not a monster but a person who loves too much that's all" he said to me.
"I love you, I would have died if you… if you…" I said crying.
"Shh, my love, I know, come here" he said opening his good arm to me.
"No, I don't want to hurt you"
"Don't worry, my broken ribs are in the left side and this is the right" he said "come here I need to feel your body next to me, my love" he said and I cuddle against him, we were there hugging each other "sleep my love"
"I'm scared" I said.
"Of what?" he whispered.
"Losing you, I'm afraid that I will wake up and you will be there with all the blood and dead" I said closing my eyes trying to take away the image from my mind.
"I'll be here my love" he said "please sleep or you will be exhausted" he said.
"You promise?" I asked. His right arm tighter around me and brought me closer to him and gave a kiss in my forehead.
"I swear to you Caroline, that you will never see me again like that, you will be safe and after I am recovered we are going to our honeymoon, so start thinking where do you want me to take you" he said and I smiled.
"Okay. I love you" I said softly and I fell asleep.
