Whew! This took TOO LONG to write! So sorry!
As soon as Artemis made his separate way with Terrence, the pain to his leg came flooding back to him. Once the blonde was out of sight, Artemis groaned and leaned against the wall. His suit was tattered with blood and his thigh in excruciating pain. Thankfully, the bone didn't feel broken, like he originally thought.
Have to get to Myles and Beckett...Was the only thing that blared through his thoughts. It was also the only thing that made him keep walking down the hall.
A very small part of his brain was worried about Terrence. Could he still trust him not to go to his uncle? Artemis shook his head. This was definitely not the time to start becoming paranoid.
D'Arvit...The pain was starting to get to him after a while. The blood loss alone was making him woozy and he fell against the white walls multiple times.
Artemis was resting against the wall, tying his tie as a tourniquet against his beaten leg, when he heard a scream down the hallway.
It was high-pitched and shrill, almost like a woman's voice.
Or an adolescent, teenage boy.
Breathing heavily, Artemis managed to push himself off of the wall and proceed down the hallway at a quick pace.
"You little...Brat." He heard the familiar voice of Spiro and it made the genius' blood curdle. "I'll enjoy killing you. After I kill Fowl, of course."
Artemis reached the end of the hallway, but paused at the older man's words before he turned the corner and came face to face with the scene.
He didn't know how many people were over there. Spiro, along with his brothers, but who knew how many of Spiro's men were there as well. He couldn't fight 200 pound goons. Not in his condition.
He was about to turn around and find Terrence when another familiar voice came from around the corner.
"Touch him, you bastard, and I swear I'll-"
Artemis could recognize that voice from anywhere. His breathing sped up and his heart swelled.
Holly.
"Forget Fowl. I'll kill you now."
Before he could think about what he was doing, Artemis flung himself around the corner.
Just in time to see Spiro stab Holly in the stomach with a knife.
Artemis' heart stopped and clenched as he saw Holly gasp for breath, her eyes going dim.
"No…" Artemis breathed softly. The quietness of the abandoned hallway was enough for the sound to travel to Spiro's ears, and the villain turned around.
"How the hell did you escape?" Spiro demanded to know, but shook his head. "Nevermind. I'm glad you were here to see the show."
Spiro slid the knife out of Holly and turned to Artemis, the weapon glistening with dark red blood.
Going on pure adrenaline to keep him from falling limp on the ground, Artemis lunged at Spiro. He grabbed the knife and twisted his wrist, causing Spiro to yell in pain and drop the weapon into Artemis' hand.
The genius, still burning with rage, sliced down with the blade and cut a long gash down his arm. Spiro groaned and held his arm, blood seeping through his fingers. He white suit jacket oozed a dark red color, almost black.
Spiro backed toward the hallway, away from Artemis and Holly. He knew he was going to lose in that fight. He had to get some help.
Once Spiro turned the corner, Artemis dropped the knife and staggered to Holly, catching her before she lost the feeling in her legs and fell to the ground.
From the pain and blood loss, Holly passed out as Artemis wrapped his arms around her small frame and cradled her against him as the genius set her on the floor.
Holly. It was really her, after all this time. Seven years had passed, and she was still beautiful, amazing, incredible Holly.
Artemis tried to stop the bleeding in her stomach, but the wound was too damaging. Soon, Artemis' hands were coated with her blood.
The genius felt his eyes water and his hands started to tremble. "Oh, Gods…Holly…" He gasped, the pain in his body still blazing.
But he couldn't focus on the pain now. No...He had to...He had to find some way to save her.
Deep in thought, trying to formulate a plan, Artemis subconsciously stroked Holly's auburn hair, brushing any stray locks out of her face.
He had to find Terrence. Perfectly sane, healthy Terrence. The blond could think straighter than Artemis was at the moment.
But he couldn't leave Holly. He couldn't move her either, not in the shape she was in. It would only cause more blood loss, and Artemis felt as though if she lost any more, it could be fatal.
"Artemis!" He heard Terrence yell behind him, and a flood of relief coursed through the genius. It was as though his prayers were being answered.
That was...Until he turned around and faced him.
"Myles?!" He set Holly down carefully and stood up as Terrence ran over.
Artemis' heart pounded harshly in his chest as he looked back from Holly to Myles. This can not be happening...He thought to himself.
"Artemis!" Beckett ran over to his older brother, hugging him tightly and shaking like an earthquake. Artemis could tell he was terrified right now, but the genius could actually hear it in his voice as Beckett looked down and gasped. "Holly!"
As Beckett dropped down next to the unconscious Holly, Terrence noticed her and his eyes widened. "Is that-"
"Yes." Artemis said, looking over Myles in Terrence's arms and sighing. "He need to get to a hospital." He murmured, looking the blond in the eyes.
Terrence scoffed, extremely disturbed by the wavering in Artemis' voice and eyes. He pointed at Holly as he balanced Myles with the other arm. "Well, so does she! Let's go!"
Artemis paused, looking at Holly painfully. "She can't go."
Terrence frowned, not knowing the whole truth. "What? Why not?"
"Cause she's an alien!" Beckett exclaimed loudly before Artemis could figure out an answer to tell Terrence.
Artemis sighed, turning to his wide-eyed little brother. He sighed again. "Yeah. Let's go with that."
Terrence furrowed his eyebrows. "What? I-"
Artemis turned back to his friend. "Look, if we get out of her, I will explain." He promised.
Terrence looked Myles and Holly over. "I'll work on Myles here." He put the boy next to Holly.
"You think you can help him?" Artemis kneeled down next to him.
Terrence bit his lip and nodded, the tips of his fingers probing Myles' chest. "I think so. Maybe. My uncle will have all the exits blocked by now." He pressed into his chest, checking for major internal bleeding.
"Here." Artemis turned to Holly and tore off the sleeve of his shirt, handing it to Beckett. "Press this against her wound." He grabbed Beckett's hands and pushed them against Holly's stomach.
"Are they going to be okay?" Beckett asked softly, looking up at his older brother.
Artemis looked down at both of them, unconscious and hurt. "I honestly…" He sighed, shaking his head. "I have no idea, Beckett."
