RPOV

I spent some time in the gym by myself. I did the treadmill for a while, then some light weights.

Was I being unfair? Of course I was.

I knew that Trent truly cared for me, he married me for goodness sake. Could he have grown to love one of these other woman? Maybe, but he is right, under what circumstances, it seems like since I walked into his office that day we just kept being pushed back together.

Maybe this really is what was meant to be.

This certainly feels like something more to me. I kept thinking between the clink of the weights.

I really loved Kistin, and this was similar, but a bit more intense.

Trent and I are happy when we are together. Well at least when we are not making each other crazy.

Of course I don't want to sleep in any of the other rooms. Jeez we have only been married two nights now, I love waking up with him next to me.

I got up from the bench I was on and grabbed my water and towel.

I would go up, if he was up maybe we could talk a little, if not I would just shower and climb into bed with him.

Who am I kidding he probably can't sleep knowing I'm acting all crazy about his date, he was after all just playing his roll as the eligible bachelor looking for a wife. I paused thinking to myself, but he isn't eligible anymore. This really needed to end soon if we were to make this work. I made my way down the hallway to the elevator that would take me to Trent's apartments, I mean he loves me right? I am the one he married, and leave it to him to make me feel guilty about being angry. I felt better but was still a mix of emotions.

I was actually in a much better mood now and felt I could at least talk this through without wanting to turn him into a toad, or some other nasty creature. I hope he wasn't too angry between my reaction to his date, then with David attacking him, he probably wasn't having the best of nights either.

I made it to the door to Trent's apartments, then made my way down the stairs. As I descended the stairs I heard pixy wings coming from Trent's private office.

"Hey Jenks is Trent in there?"

"No, I just came in from a perimeter check. He's probably in his room still. He was not too happy from earlier."

I couldn't help but feel guilty. "I know, I need to talk with him."

"Good! I'm going to go look in on the girls, then check in with Quen."

"Sounds good." I smiled at him, he was as protective of the girls as the rest of us.

I got to Trent's door and took a deep breath. Then wondered if he is even in there. The door was cracked open and he usually closed his door when he was in there.

I pushed the door open and Trent was there. Looks like he had just gotten out of the shower, he was still wet and drying off.

I couldn't help be a little embarrassed at walking in on him naked, I've seen so much of him naked I should be used to it by now.

"Sorry." I said trying to keep my eyes up. I didn't want to get distracted, but it was hard. "We need to talk..." I trailed off.

Trent froze when I walked in and looked strange like there was something wrong. The tips of his ears turned red.

"Rachel, please let me explain..." Explain what, I thought to myself.

I heard a noise come from his bathroom as Ellasbeth came out also naked with a towel wrapped around her. It was clear they had both just gotten out of the shower.

Ellasbeth had a small grin on her face.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. "Rachel...let me..."

I put my hand up, "Don't even." I turned and walked out as quickly as I could and ran into Jenks coming out of the girls room.

"What's wrong?" He asked

I couldn't even speak, I knew I was on the verge of tears. Damn it I trusted him. Is all of what Ellasbeth said true did he cheat on her all the time, or was what David said true, was I one of a collection of woman for him.

I grabbed my handbag and quickly looked for my keys. Good thing I insisted on brining my car here. At least I made one good decision.

Trent came running out behind me with his towel wrapped around his waist.

Jenks hovered between us, "What's going on now?" Jenks asked.

"I'm going home to the church." I said turning around.

"Wohh, hold it cookie maker, if Rachel wants to go, she's going, you stay."

"Jenks it's a misunderstanding, put your sword away. Honestly I did nothing wrong." I turned glancing as I was half way up the stairs and saw Jenks in front of Trent with his sword pointed at his face.

Then I see Ellasbeth come out of the hallway with a robe on, her hair still wet.

"Oh tinks titties, you've gotta be fartin me. Are you that stupid Elf? We are outa here."

I was just leaving through the apartment door to head to the garage. Trent didn't even come running after me.

I got into my car along with Jenks. I pulled out of the parking garage, once I was down the road I pulled over. I could bearly seen through the tears.

"What the hell just happened, I thought he hated her?" Jenks said and flew to my shoulder.

"Jenks I don't get it. He knew I was only going to the gym. He was upset, but expected me to come back. How could he do that to me, with her. Jenks do you think any of the accusation Ellasbeth made about Trent cheating on her were true?"

"I don't know, I didn't think any of it was true. I just don't know anymore." Jenks said shaking his head while sitting on the dash of my car.

"Damn it let's go home." I pulled back on the road to head to the gate.

The rest of the drive down was quiet, I saw the guardhouse come into view.

"You know he did say it was a misunderstanding, maybe we should have heard him out." Jenks said from my rearview mirror.

"Are you kidding me." I started rolling down my window since the guards didn't seem to notice me coming.

"Hi guys can you open the gate?" I yelled out the window as friendly as I could. I recognized one of the guards from earlier.

The guard I was not familiar with came out. "Sorry, I just hung up with Mr. Kalamack and he asked that you wait here for him."

"Jenks, can you get the gate for me?"

He flew over and landed on my window, then paused. "Rachel, maybe you should just talk with him, eventually your going to have to, you are married now."

I rested my head on my steering wheel. "I don't want to Jenks. I can't do this anymore." My tears had stopped and now I just felt defeated. What I needed was anger, that is the only thing that would get me through this.

As I sat here arguing with Jenks I saw head lights coming down the road.

"Crap", I should have known I wouldn't get out of here this easy.

Trent pulled up behind me blocking my car. I started to put my window up as he approached my car. Jenks flew out as the window went up.

"Rachel we need..." Trent started but was cut off by my window going up. Trent walked off to the side away from the guard-house talking to Jenks.

Great he was trying to convince Jenks he did nothing wrong. He and Ellasbeth were both naked in his room and bathroom, how could that be innocent?

I saw Trent walking back To his car as Jenks flew back to me. I cracked my window for him to fly in.

"We need to go talk to Trent."

"No, Jenks, I don't want to talk with him now."

Jenks landed on my dash, "Rach he is not going to just let you drive out of here."

"Damn it." I swung open my car door, now I was angry and I was going to tap into that anger. I walked over to Trent's car and he opened his car door. "Trent let me out of here, you can't keep me trapped here like a prisoner!" I yelled.

"I will let you leave if you really want to, as soon as you hear me out."

"So talk." I leaned on his car not looking at him.

"I am not doing this with an audience Rachel. Please?"

"Well I am not going back to your compound." I crossed my arms. "I really can't see what there could possibly be to talk about." I said looking at my feet.

I could see Trent run his hand through his hair out of the corner of my eye. Good he should be worried.

"Could we at least walk a little? Maybe over there." He pointed up the road a little.

"I don't want to be alone with you right now." I told him stealing a quick glance.

Okay so maybe my anger was a little less effective with me not making eye contact.

Jenks flew over with one of my charms and a finger prick. Jenks landed on my shoulder, "Rache go ahead and walk with Trent I will be at a safe distance if you need me. Is this one of your truth charms?"

"Yeah, but..."

"Rachel please?" Trent said in a quiet, pleading voice.

I could feel the tears threatening again. Damn it. I finally looked at him making eye contact. "I will not tolerate cheating!"

"I know, and you shouldn't, I wouldn't ask you to."

I looked at him and raised my eyebrows, then rolled my eyes.

"Fine here is the charm," I pricked my finger and applied the drops of blood. "Start talking." I handed him the charm Jenks had brought over.

"Let's walk a little." Trent moved closer to put his hand on the small of my back and I pulled away from him, not wanting to be touch.

We walked up the road a little, then I stopped. I stood there in the middle of his drive with my hip cocked and my hands on my hips, just watching and waiting.

It was a dark night with the faint glow of the street lamp in the distance.

Trent turned around, and looked at me. I could see pain in his eyes.

"Rachel you have to understand, nothing happened."

The charm turned a bright red. And I raised my eyebrows again, "look do not waste my time Kalamack."

Trent let out a frustrated sigh. "Let me rephrase that, I did not..." He let out a long sigh.

"I was angry with you.." He said and I let out a huff of turned around, then looked back at him.

"Let me finish, I answered some emails then went to take a shower."

"Well at least that is truthful." I said as the charm stayed green.

"I heard someone come in the bathroom. I assumed it was you. I never thought there was anyone else in the house that would consider getting in the shower with me."

Okay so still green.

"I was rinsing off and someone got in the shower behind me, again I thought it was you. With the smell of the soap and shampoo, I didn't even catch her scent."

"Okay, but when you said nothing happened it turned red, so what could you not control yourself with a naked body, or did you get soap in your eyes and still thought it was me?"

"Rachel, I feel bad enough already. Yeah something happened, but I didn't mean it to. She got in the shower behind me, I didn't realize it wasn't you. She put her hands on me. When I looked down and ah, saw her polished nails and ring I realized it wasn't you."

The charm stayed a steady green.

"Rachel as soon as I realized it wasn't you I pulled away, I told her to leave and I got out of the shower. I went into the bedroom and that is when you came in."

He looked at his feet. "Yes, yeah technically SOMETHING happened, I mean she...ah was trying to touch me, but." He looked back up at me making eye contact again. "As soon as I realized it was not you behind me I stopped her."

He looked down at the charm. " I told her to get her stuff together, she needs to go back home tonight. I will not help her anymore. I cannot allow her to stay in my life, not when she is trying to ruin my marriage."

"I agree she needs to go." I added.

I was trying to process this all.

"All those years I tried having a normal relationship with her and she waits until now to do something like jumping in the shower with me. There was a time I would have liked that." He paused while studying my face."Rachel please do not go home, please stay here tonight. I don't even care if you sleep in my room or not tonight, but I want to make this work between us."

He paused, "Since I have this," He held up the truth charm." I also want it understood, I have never cheated on her. The only time it ever even crossed my mind is with you, but I never acted on my feelings while still with her."

He paused again, "Although, if I thought you would have let me I'm not sure if I wouldn't have tried."

Still the light stayed green.

"Rachel you have to know I didn't want her here, I didn't even want to help her, I let her come here under our protection because you asked me to."

"You bastard! So this is my fault!"

"I wouldn't say that."

"Really, because you kind of just did."

"Look Rachel I don't want to help her anymore, she is going home and I also have no interest in any of these woman Quen has set dates up for me."

The light turned red.

He quickly added, "I have no interest in a relationship with them or sex. I admit I have some interest as to why they are interested in uniting with someone from the east coast. But you are the only woman I want in my bed or as a wife."

The light stayed green this time.

He looked down at the charm. "This thing could really get someone in trouble if you don't word your responses right."

"Trust me Trent you've done plenty of damage before putting that around your neck."

"Rachel, when David attacked, you bubbled him, you were trying to protect David. Why? What is you relationship with him?"

This took me off guard. "What do you mean? We are friends and he is the alpha of my pack."

"You chose to protect him over me Rachel, yet he was the one that attacked, why?"

I opened my mouth to speak, "I..." Then closed it.

I paused, wait I was not going to feel guilty about this. "I made a decision to bubbled David to talk sense into him. You have the ability to bubble yourself if you felt threatened. I didn't want either of you hurt and it got him to calm down and listen to me. I made a decision and it was the right one."

He studied my face for a bit before moving closer giving me a questioning look. "Can we go back now?"

"I think for tonight I need to go home, get my head straight."

"I thought you were concerned about protecting me?"

"Quen and Jonathan can handle that for tonight. Tonight I need to worry about how to protect myself." I said as I turned to walk away.

Trent grabbed my wrist turning me back to him. "Rachel, I did nothing wrong."

I sighed, "Yeah, but you also did nothing right. Look I just need time, all this happened so fast...I, I just need to go, at least for tonight."

I turned and walked towards my car.

"So we good now?" Jenks asked.

"Maybe." I said glancing at Trent who gave me a look of frustration. "Jenks do you want to go home now?" I asked.

"Yeah I'll go home with you, but I should come for tomorrow's date."

I saw Trent make a pained face at that. Yeah, that was the last thing I wanted to think about and I'm sure he realized it was a very sensitive subject for me right now.

Trent walked me to my car, "so will you come back tomorrow?"

"Probably, but we'll have to see."

We each got back in our cars, Jenks with me. "So is it all better now?"

"I wouldn't say all better, but I he did explain and technically he didn't do anything wrong, but that date still does not sit well with me." I said not looking at the little pixie on my dash.

"Yeah, hey you want me to stick here tonight, keep an eye on things?"

"No, I mean Ellasbeth is leaving tonight, how much trouble can Trent get into?"

Trent talked with the guard at the gate and they raised the gate, Trent stopped at my car window before going to his car.

I put the window down a small fraction.

"Are you sure you won't just stay, you could sleep in a guest room if you want. I really hate the thought of being without you tonight."

"You know what Trent think about things, if you belong to me as I do you, than we have a problem here. This feels a lot like I belong to you and that is as far as it goes."

"Rachel, that is not true."

"Good-bye Trent, I'll talk with you tomorrow." I put my window up and drove off.

I couldn't help but be angry about the date, Ellasbeth everything.

"Surprised you didn't want me to stay and keep an eye on things." Jenks said while sitting on my rare view mirror.

"I should be able to trust him Jenks."

"But you still don't entirely do you?" He said with his wings fluttering wildly.

"No, don't."

"Hey Ivy's old laptop is still laying around right?"

"Ah yeah, it's in her room I think. Why?" I asked suspiciously.

"I was able to tap into Trent's security cameras, so I can keep tabs on things if you can dig the laptop out for me."

"Keep tabs, or spy, Jenks?" I asked with suspicion.

"Keep tabs of course, but... I did add an extra camera in Trent's doorway, just to make sure there are no extra visitors. I had put it there for other reasons, but could come in handy."

"When did you add it?" I asked.

"While you guys were getting ready for the date..." Then it seemed to dawn on him, "He I will be able to bring up the footage of Ellasbeth going to his room."

I smiled, leave it to Jenks. But I shouldn't be okay with spying on my new husband, things had to improve.
