The Bond of Brothers

Chapter 26

Donnie nodded as his brothers helped him up before looking over at the three brothers. Alexander was beginning to look very pale and sickly.

''Alex'' Don frowned.

''He's losing too much blood'' Tyler put a hand on his brother's shoulder.

''We are scared for him'' Lyle sniffed. ''Isn't there anything we can do?''

Donnie looked at his brothers, he wasn't feeling up to fixing Alexander. He felt ill after all that had happened and with the possibility of not escaping the room. He barely felt up to finding a way out.

His brothers could see how weak he was feeling, they gave him sympathetic looks and Raph stepped forwards and put a hand on Don's shoulder.

''If ya don't feel up ta it ya don' have ta'' He nodded quietly. ''I think ya should just rest''

''I-I can't let him die Raph'' Donnie replied tiredly.

''If you help our brother we will work on escaping the room'' Tyler begged, ''You'll have the rest you need''

Donnie sighed before nodding.

He gently pushed Alexander so he would sit on the floor before kneeling next to him.

He gently took his arm and removed the blood soaked cloth that covered the stump. He swallowed the bile that rose in his throat at the sight of it.

He had to think, was there anything he could actually do for his friend.

''I'm not sure if there's anything I can do…'' Donnie yawned tiredly, ''I can't think''

He saw Leo and Raph share a look. Mikey knelt next to Don and hugged him.

''Don't feel bad bro'' Mikey smiled. ''You're exhausted. Ya just need sleep''

''He is not sleeping now'' Tyler growled sternly. ''Not while my brother's life is on the line''

''He needs sleep'' Leo insisted. ''We all do''

The two brothers looked down at their third.

''But if you guys go to sleep he'll die'' Lyle frowned quietly. ''By the time you wake up it'll be too late''

They all fell silent and looked down upon Alex.

Donnie sighed, he only remembered a few things but hopefully they would help.

He pushed Alexander into a lying position and lifted the injured arm.

''One of you hold this'' He commanded half-heartedly. Tyler held the limb. ''Now we need some clean cloth''

Lyle ripped the bottom of his cloak and handed it to Don who placed it on the stump, Tyler used his free hand to add pressure to the cloth.

''I wonder if we should attempt to fashion a tourniquet…'' Donnie thought aloud. He looked over the situation and shook his head. ''Probably safer if we don't''

''So what now?'' Lyle asked worriedly.

''Keep him like that until the bleeding stops'' Donnie shrugged.

''Ok so now you can go to sleep'' Leo nodded. He dragged his three other brothers to the other side of the room and together they curled up and fell asleep.

Raphael stirred as he sensed someone coming toward him and his brothers, he opened an eyes to see Leo rubbing his eyes. He watched as Leo opened his eyes and frowned before full on glaring at whatever Raph had sensed.

Raph pushed himself up a little and looked round to see the two brothers heading towards them quietly, suspiciously.

He and Leo automatically shuffled closer to their two sleeping little brothers.

''Donatello. Wake up'' Tyler demanded, Don didn't wake. Tyler made to reach forward but Leo's arm got in the way.

''Get away from us. Now.'' Leo growled threateningly, Raph had never heard him sound so… overly protective.

Leo had always been protective over them but never this aggressively. Raph guessed it was because of Leo's hatred towards people who took advantage of weaker people. You never attack a downed enemy. It was dishonourable. Technically Don and Mike were down which is enough to make Leo angry that they are trying to attack but add that with the fact they're his baby brothers and it realy makes sense.

''What's yer problem?'' Raph growled tiredly.

''The bleeding won't stop'' Lyle had tears in his eyes. ''We need help''

''Well too bad'' Raph stood up and stormed towards them. ''My brothers need sleep. Your bro hasn't got a chance if that stuff didn't work! So what's the point in waken 'em!''

Tyler grit his teeth before flying at Raph, Raph waited before grabbing Tyler's arm and flipping him away from his brothers.

Lyle jumped onto his shell which caused him to fall on top of Tyler.

Leo leapt up as the tussle turned into a full force wrestle, Raph already had a bloody beak while the other two were teaming up to try and kill him.

Leo ran straight into the wrestle, he kicked the two brothers away before helping Raph up.

''That's enough'' He commanded, he realised Raph was having a hard time catching his breath. The two brothers went back to their eldest while Leo patted Raph on the shell.

''You ok bro?'' Leo asked worriedly.

''The air's a li'l thin'' Raph gasped. ''But I'll be ok''

''The air?'' Leo frowned before realising Raph was right. Shredder had started removing the oxygen. ''Shit… Sit down Raph and try to calm your breathing''

They both went back to their brothers and sat down, Leo sat next to Raph and placed a hand on his shoulder to try and calm him. Raph coughed.

''Ya can go back ta sleep… I'll be fine in a minute'' Raph nodded.

''I won't be able to sleep knowing you're struggling to breathe'' Leo reasoned. ''I'm going to wait until you're ok then we'll both go to sleep''

Raph gave Leo a small smile.

''Thanks bro''

Raph finally caught his breath and lay down next to Mikey, Leo lay next to Don.

''Donnie's looking awfully pale… I think he may be ill'' Leo frowned worriedly.

''He's been through a lot'' Raph nodded. ''It's ta be expected.''

Leo looked down at his little brother, he feared for him. The two brothers were glaring at the poor sleeping turtle while they attempted to keep the blood inside their eldest.

Trouble is coming and it doesn't look like anyone's going to survive this time.
