He was sleeping. He was so peaceful when he slept and so beautiful. Now, though, it broke her heart to see him lost to the waking world. It was an unnatural slumber he was forced to endure. She felt tears sting the backs of her eyes every time she glanced at his face. The once unmarred flesh was now host to four long gashes, from his scalp to his chin and down his neck. She could scarcely believe it had happened to her love.
She had selfishly begged him not to go that night when the leader of their Order had died. She knew it was the right thing to do but she wanted him to stay. As she'd watched his long red hair pass through their door and out into the night, she had fallen in on herself in worry. She'd been a mess, worried and waiting. Then the Floo call had come informing her what had happened.
It had broken her heart.
Words could not describe how she had felt between stepping into the Floo of her home and out of the Floo in the now-dead Headmaster's office, running down the vaguely familiar halls until she could see her love again. Heart in her throat, she had rushed to his bed, fallen to his side, and not left him since. Neither had his mother, but she didn't need to speak to her. She couldn't have if she tried. She wasn't oblivious to the woman trying to send her home, not out of concern for her health, either. She wanted only family with her son at this time.
Well she was family too. He was her love, her one and only, her other half, her brave, brave warrior. She would not be cowed by some British woman trying to shuffle her off. The woman thought she was shallow and only cared for her son's good looks, now scarred. It didn't matter if he was scarred, though. He was still beautiful, the scars only physical proof of his bravery, and she loved him with all her heart. The man, not the mask. She knew the opinion his mother had of her, she was not stupid. But it didn't matter. He was all she needed.
Besides, she was beautiful enough for the both of them.
Longer than I was expecting, but I still liked all I'd written to cut any out. I love this pairing, though I've never written anything on them before, or thought to until now. This is enthusiastically dedicated to the fantastic TheFantabulousPotterHead, as well. I do hope you enjoyed this one! As for the last, Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald was most correct! Congratulations to the most wonderful islanzadi heap, TheFantabulousPotterHead, 03hermione1992 and darkswansea, and not to mention thanking 5sunday5 for the very insightful review!
I eagerly await your guesses for this new pairing. And guess what? It's out within two days! I even had it written yesterday!
Ciao for now!
