In The Lanes Between
Sora, Riku and Kairi were riding their gliders and flying as fast as they can to the King.
"Are you sure we are heading in the right direction?" Sora asked looking at Riku.
"We're following the directions that Lea had given us." Riku said looking at a map.
"It's just we've never been this far in the Realm Between." Sora said.
"I know what you mean it I have this weird feeling all around me." Kairi said.
"Get weird out later I think we are here." Riku said pointing.
Ahead of them was a new world. This world looked a bit like Disney Castle only outside the town was some kind of wasteland and in the middle of it was some kind of laboratory.
"So what's this world called?" Sora asked.
"It's called Wasteland." Riku said looking at the map.
"It doesn't look much like a Wasteland." Sora said confused.
"Hey I didn't come up with the name. But from the look of the map we are in the centre of the Realm Between." Riku said.
"I do sense something dark and powerful there." Kairi said.
"Then it looks like the king was on the right track." Sora said.
"Then let's land." Kairi said.
Wasteland: Mean Street
Once they landed they found themselves in a town that looked like a lot like Disney Town.
"This place looks a lot like Disney Town." Sora said.
"So where do you think the King is?" Kairi asked.
"I think I can help you there." A voice said.
Then they turned around to find a small man with green skin, white horns, blue-black eyes and a white broom-like mustache floating in the air. He was wearing Reddish orange coveralls, orange helmet with bowler hat on his left horn, white gloves, black-brown shoes and thick goggles.
"Who are you?" Sora asked.
"The name is Gus I'm the leader of the Gremlins." Gus said.
"Well can you take us to King Mickey?" Riku asked.
At that moment several Aeroplanes and three Hot Rods Heartless appeared in front of them.
"If you take these creatures out I can take you to the king." Gus said.
Sora, Riku and Kairi then summoned their Keyblades and charged at the Heartless. Two Aeroplanes flew into the air and started to fire its machine gun at them. Kairi casted a Protect spell shielding them then Sora casted a Firaga spell and Riku casted a Dark Firaga spell blasted the two Heartless. Then a Hot Rod charged towards them both Sora and Riku got out of the way just in time and Kairi jumped out of nowhere and stabbed it in the back with her Keyblade. Sora then did his Sonic Blade move slicing through the meaning Aeroplanes. Riku and Kairi threw their Keyblades at the last two Hot Rods cutting them in half.
"You can come out now." Sora said. Gus then flew out of the post-box he was hiding in.
"Most impressive." Gus said.
"So you said you would take us the king." Riku said.
"Of course he's in the castle with our King Oswald." Gus said.
Then Gus started to lead them to the castle.
Wasteland: Wasteland Castle
Once they reached the castle the three of them noticed it looked a lot like Disney Castle only it was a little darker inside the halls.
"So Gus mind explaining how come this World looks a lot like Disney Castle?" Sora asked.
"It's because our King is actually the half-brother of King Mickey." Gus said.
"The king never mentioned having a brother." Riku said.
"That's probably because they don't see eye to eye. You see they were both Keyblade wielders being taught under Yen Sid. But Yen Sid chose Mickey over Oswald he wasn't very happy so he started to travel to different Worlds he then came here. Back then it was just a Wasteland but Oswald built the town and the castle for people who wanted a second chance." Gus explained.
"But even still that's not a reason to hold a grudge on." Sora said.
"Queen Ortensia has told him the same thing time and again." Gus said.
They soon entered the throne room standing there was King Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pete. They were talking to a black rabbit who was wearing a similar outfit as King Mickey only blue and black, a black cat in a pink dress with a golden tiara on her head and a racoon the same size as Goofy wearing brown combat boots, black jeans and a green t-shirt, he was wearing armour all around his right arm, on his head he was wearing a black helmet with mask which was on and strapped on his was a sword with a golden handle.
"Your majesty we have some more guests." Gus said. Everyone turned to face them.
"So these are the wielder you've told me some much about." King Oswald said.
"Sora, Riku, Kairi let me introduce my half-brother Oswald." King Mickey said.
"This is my Queen Ortensia Gus you have already met Gus and this is the head of my Honour Guard Sir Richard Racoon." King Oswald said.
"Who likes to steal things." Donald said.
"Only from those who stole it in the first place." Sir Richard said.
"Donald I'm sure Richard can be trusted if he is the head of my Honour Guard." King Mickey said.
"Besides we've got more important things to discuss than my past." Sir Richard said.
"Indeed so Sora why are you here?" Queen Ortensia said.
After explaining what had happened since they last met they all looked very worried.
"This is bad." Goofy said.
"Then that means all they need is Kairi to complete their plans." Sir Richard said.
"With any luck Roxas's group will be able to track down Terra, Aqua and Ven we'll need their help." King Mickey said.
"But why do you think they'll come here?" Kairi asked.
"Because we are in the centre of the Realm Between." Pete answered.
"Being here makes it way to open a doorway into the Realm of Darkness." Gus explained.
"No doubt Xehanort is going use the Princess and the Vessels to open a doorway into the Realm of Darkness and open Kingdom Hearts." Sir Richard said.
"But then way goes he need all those vessels of himself?" Sora asked.
"Very army needs generals to lead them into battle." Sir Richard said.
"Also he needed a backup plan if getting the Princess and the Vessels was impossible." King Mickey said.
"We believe that Xehanort has a lined himself with the Mad Doctor." King Oswald said.
"The Mad what?" Riku said.
"The Mad Doctor is a mad scientist who helped his Majesty built this world. But it would seem that he has changed sides." Gus said.
"We've been trying to get a close look at what happening in his lab but his security is too tight. But we have confirmed that the Princess and the Vessels are in his lab." Sir Richard said.
"So what are we going to do?" Sora asked.
"We don't know. We don't have the might to take the Mad Doctor's Lab." Sir Richard said.
"Then way hasn't he attacked yet?" Sora asked. Then he looked at Riku who seemed to have come up with the same thought.
"Because they were waiting until Kairi showed up." They both said at the same time.
Then suddenly there was a big explosion from outside the castle. Then a yellow skinned Gremlin wearing a purple coveralls floated in.
"Jamface what's happening." Gus asked.
"The castle is under attack by Heartless, Nobody's, Unversed and some of the Mad Doctor's robots." Jamface said.
"Sir Richard with me." King Oswald said summoning his Keyblade. It was shaped like Sora's and King Mickey's only it's blade and teeth where a rust brown and the hilt was sick like yellow on the end of the keychain was a Hidden Oswald.
"Right away your Majesty." Sir Richard said drawing his sword.
"Wait Oswald where coming to." King Mickey said.
"Alright!" King Oswald said in annoys.
"Sora you, Riku and Kairi stay here and remember their probably after Kairi." King Mickey said.
Then King Oswald and Sir Richard ran out the throne room. Followed my King Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pete.
Moments past and all they could hear was the battle raging out the castle. Sora was pacing up and down the throne room.
"If you keep doing that you'll wear the marble out." Riku said.
"I just hate all this waiting." Sora said.
"Then your wait is over." A voice said above them. They all looked up and saw Vanitas and Riku Replica falling towards them. "Did you miss us?" Vanitas asked summoning his Keyblade.
"Like a toothache." Sora said summoning his Keyblade.
"Let me guess another diversion." Riku said as he and Kairi summoned their Keyblades.
"What gave it way?" Riku Replica said as Soul Eater appeared in his hand.
"Gus get the Queen out of here and warn the others." Sora said.
Gus nodded and he and the Queen ran out of the throne room.
Vanitas then charged straight towards Kairi. But Sora jumped in front of him and the two began to fight. Riku Replica then charged at Riku and slammed his weapon at him. Riku blocked the attack and kicked him in the chest pushing him back. Riku Replica casted a Dark Firaga spell and Riku did the same creating a powerful explosion. Both Sora and Vanitas were still fighting jumping off walls leaping over each other anything to give the other the advantage. Once both their Keyblade collided they looked at each other's eyes.
"Why only you two you must have known that both me and Riku were protecting here." Sora said.
"Oh we did but it would seem like you forgotten about my unique powers." Vanitas said smiling.
Sora then turned his head to face Kairi and saw she was fighting several Scrappers and two Bruisers Unversed. Sora broke his fight with Vanitas and ran towards Kairi which was a mistake. Vanitas took the chance while Sora's back was turned and casted a Dark Thundaga. The spell hit Sora in the back and collapsed into the floor.
Vanitas then charged at Kairi who was too busy fighting the Unversed to notice. Vanitas jumped into the air and casted a Blizzaga spell which knocked here off her feet and before she could get up Vanitas slammed his Keyblade on her head knocking her out.
"I've got the princess let's get out of here." Vanitas said as lifted Kairi on to his shoulders.
Riku Replica who was still battling Riku nodded and vanished just before Riku could hit him. He then appeared next to Vanitas and opened a Corridor to Darkness. As they entered Sora managed to lift his head just in time to see them enter it with Kairi.
"Kairi!" Sora whispered then very thing went black.
When he opened his eyes he saw Riku talking to King Mickey and Oswald. Behind were Donald and Goofy helping him up. He then remembered what happened.
"Kairi!" Sora yelled.
"I'm sorry Sora they got her." Donald said.
"Sir Richard and Pete are going some recon. Hopefully they'll be able to find a way in." Goofy said.
"It's all my fault." Sora said placing his hands on his face.
"No it's not." Riku said.
"Yes it is if I hadn't got distracted Kairi would still be here." Sora said.
"Yeah but blaming yourself won't bring her back we've got to act." King Mickey said.
"We can't wait for the others we have to attack now." King Oswald said.
"We won't be able to get anywhere close." King Mickey said.
"If we don't do something soon Xehanort will be able to enter Kingdom Hearts." King Oswald said. Then Gus flew into the room. "What is it Gus?"
"Your Majesty's both Sir Richard and Pete think they've found an entrance into the Mad Doctor's Lab." Gus said.
"Great where is it?" King Mickey asked. Gus then pulled out a picture of the Mad Doctor's Lab.
"It right here." Gus said pointing.
"But that is an entrance to the sewers." Sora said looking at where Gus was pointing.
"True but it leads to an area of the lab that won't be as well guarded." Gus said.
"Let me see I've got this straight you want us to go into the sewers and come out of the Mad Doctor's toilet." Riku said.
"Well yes." Gus said.
"Even if we are able to get inside there are still going to thousands of guards there." Riku said.
"Riku's right we have to draw them out." King Oswald said.
"How about you and me lead an attack on the Mad Doctor's Lab. That'll draw them out and give the others a chance to free the princess." King Mickey said.
"But we still don't know our way around the lab." Riku said.
"I think I might be able to help." Sora said.
"What do you mean?" King Oswald said.
"I think I might be able to sense Kairi and lead us to her." Sora said.
"I don't like the word might." Riku said.
"It's better than can't." Sora said.
"We don't have a lot of choice." King Mickey said.
Wasteland: The Mad Doctor's Lab
Sora, Riku, Donald and Goofy were waiting at the entrance to the sewers an about a hundred yards away from the lab waiting for King Mickey's signal. Then they saw massive explosion near the lab.
"I hope this plan works." Riku said as he opened the hatch.
"If you've got a better plan I'm all ears." Sora said as he jumped down into the sewers.
Riku, Donald and Goofy quickly followed. About an hour later they came out of toilet.
"Let's not do that again." Riku said.
Then the four of them ran to the door. They soon found themselves in a corridor and weren't sure which way to go.
"So Sora any idea where to go?" Goofy asked.
Sora closed his eyes and tried to sense where Kairi was. He then felt a bright light coming from the left.
"This way." Sora said running to the left.
Soon they Sora lead them in all different directions. But once they turned a corner they came face to face with Vanitas and Riku Replica both holding their weapons.
"So we meet again for the last time." Riku Replica said pointing Soul Eater at them.
"Then let's finish it." Riku said as he and Sora summoned their weapons and Donald and Goofy pulled their weapons out.
Vanitas and Riku Replica then charged at them. Riku Replica casted a Dark Firaga spell heading towards Sora. But Goofy jumped in front of it and blocked it with his shield. Donald then jumped out of nowhere and blasted a Blizzaga spell right in Riku Replica face sending him back.
Vanitas then vanished and reappeared behind Riku and was about to stab him in the back. But then Sora blocked the attack with his Keyblade. Riku then turned around and used his Telekinetic powers to blast him back.
Then both Vanitas and Riku Replica got back up and charged straight at them. Sora and Riku then did the same Sora at Vanitas and Riku at Riku Replica. Both Sora and Riku held their Keyblade's and sliced right through Vanitas and Riku Replica. Both Vanitas and Riku Replica then fell to the floor and started to fade.
"You may have defeated us but you're too late to stop Xehanort." Vanitas said.
"Face it you've lost." Riku Replica said.
"We'll see about that." Sora said.
Then both Vanitas and Riku Replica disappear and two dark spheres appeared and disappeared as well.
"I hope the others are alright." Goofy said.
"So do I but we have to keep moving." Riku said.
"At least we're on the right track." Sora said.
Then the four of them continued running down the corridor.
Wasteland: Outside The Mad Doctor's Lab
Outside King Mickey and Oswald were leading an attack on the Mad Doctor's Lab battling Heartless, Nobody's, Unversed and the Mad Doctor's robots.
The Mad Doctor's robots had demon like heads, bodies of different vehicles and objects, cannons for arms, and spider legs. Sir Richard charged at one cutting it in half.
"Their saw giving us a run for our money." Sir Richard said as he used his sword to block a laser blast from one of the robots.
"We have to hold out as long as possible to give Sora and his team the time they need." King Mickey said as he sliced through an Armored Knight Heartless.
"I think we don't have to worry about that look." Pete said pointing. They all saw that all of a sudden the Unversed started to disappear.
"What's happening to them?" King Oswald asked.
"I think Sora's team must have ran into Vanitas and defeated him." King Mickey said.
"Then Xehanort army has lost some allies." Sir Richard said.
"But it's still large enough to take you down." A voice said. Then suddenly laser arrows headed towards them. Luckily Pete threw some firecrackers in their path destroying them. All of them looked ahead of them and saw Braig and Isa walking towards them. "Still you can still try to defeat us I'm not stopping you." Braig said.
"Don't you see it's pointless to carry on fighting when you've already lost." Isa said.
"What we've fighting for is anything but pointless." King Mickey said.
"We're not just fighting for us but for everyone on every world." King Oswald said.
"Then so be it." Isa said summoning his claymore.
He then slammed it down towards King Mickey. But then out of nowhere Lea appeared in front of King Mickey blocking the attack.
"Sorry were late traffic was terrible." Lea said pushing Isa back.
Then cut through Heartless, Nobody's and the Mad Doctor's robots where Ven, Aqua, Terra, Roxas, Naminé and Xion.
"Looks like the tide is changing." Sir Richard said.
"Ven you Terra and Aqua try and get inside the lab and Sora and his team. The rest of us will fight here." King Mickey said.
"You heard him guys let's go." Ven said.
Then he, Terra and Aqua ran towards the lab cutting through Heartless, Nobody's and the Mad Doctor's robots in the process.
"You would have waited until you took us down before splitting up." Braig said.
"We're more than enough." Roxas said charging at him.
Braig teleported before Roxas's Keyblade hit him and reappeared several feet above him aiming his weapon at him. But before he could fire Xion Keyblade came at him from nowhere. Naminé then hit him in the chest with her Keyblade making him crash down on to the ground. Braig then saw Roxas running towards him. Braig quickly aimed his weapon at him but was to late Roxas sliced right through him.
"Not bad kiddo but defeating me won't stop the old man's plans." Braig said as he began to fade.
"That why I'm going to take him out next." Roxas said.
"Take him out as if. He's just too strong." Braig said.
Braig then faded away and a dark sphere flew away and disappeared.
Meanwhile Lea and Isa where still fighting both of them not letting up.
"Way side with them Isa?" Lea asked.
"Who else is there to fight with you? You cared more for a Nobody who couldn't remember his past and a worthless puppet." Isa said.
"And you lied to me about not having hearts when we're Nobody's." Lea said.
"Even still it's too late there's no turning back." Isa said throwing his claymore at Lea.
Lea used his Keyblade to block it but the impact made him fall to the ground. Isa caught the returning claymore and charged straight towards Lea ready to slam it down. But before he could hit Lea King Mickey and Oswald came out of nowhere and rammed their Keyblades into Isa's chest making to fall to his knees. Lea then got up and walked towards Isa.
"I never what this to happen." Lea said.
"I know I've got it memorized." Isa said smiling.
"Goodbye old friend." Lea said.
He then sliced his Keyblade through Isa. Isa then began to disappear and a dark sphere flew away and disappeared.
"I'm sorry there was no other way." King Mickey said.
"I know but it doesn't make it any easier." Lea said.
"I wonder who the others are doing." King Mickey said.
"I don't know but let's re-join the battle." Lea said.
King Mickey nodded and they all continued to fight the army in front of them.
Wasteland: Outside The Mad Doctor's Lab
Soon Sora and his team entered a large room. Ahead of them they saw the Princesses of Hearts in some kind of pods in a circle and on the floor were lines making a seven pointed star with a Princess of Heart at each point. In the middle of the star were the Vessels of Darkness forming a circle.
"Welcome my young friends." A voice said. They looked up and saw Master Xehanort on a balcony and standing next to him where Ansem, Xemnas and Young Xehanort. "It would same as if you are just in time for the grand opening." Master Xehanort said.
"Not unless we stop you." Sora said.
Then he and Riku summoned their Keyblades and Donald and Goofy drew the weapons.
"I'm afraid we can't allow that to happen." Master Xehanort said.
Then suddenly landing right in front of them was a giant robot. It was about twenty feet tall and looked like a robotic gorilla. But when its head would be was some kind of dome and inside sat a bold man with a black beard and mustache and was wearing a lab coat and black rubber gloves.
"I take it you're the Mad Doctor." Sora said.
"Indeed and there's no way I'm going to let you ruin my experiment." The Mad Doctor said.
"You two help him out I only need a few moments." Master Xehanort said looking at Ansem and Xemnas. Then he turned to face Young Xehanort. "And better return to your time so these events can be set in motion."
Then Ansem and Xemnas jumped off the balcony and landed on the robots shoulders. Then Young Xehanort then began to fade away.
"You know I do not like our odds." Sora said.
"Then mind if we leaned a hand." A voice said. They turned and saw Ven, Terra and Aqua enter the room with Keyblades in hand. "Looks like we got here just in time." Ven said.
"We got to free the Princess nothing else matters." Riku said.
They all nodded and charged at the robot. The Mad Doctor tried to punch them but they all jumped out of the way and jumped on the robots arm. The Mad Doctor then tried to use the other arm to grab them but they were too fast.
Ansem then summoned his guardian and got it to ram into them. Xemnas then drew his Ethereal Blades and ran towards them. Terra tried to hit him but Xemnas blocked the attack with one of his blades and hit him in the chest with the other one sending him to the ground. Ansem then sent a beam of dark energy straight at Sora and Ven they managed to get out of the way but the beam hit Goofy sending him flying.
"At this rate we're going to lose." Sora said.
"Just get to the Princesses will keep them busy." Riku said.
The Mad Doctor then aimed a turret at them and fired it. Both Sora and Riku used their Keyblades to block the shoots. Then suddenly Goofy's shield came out of nowhere and cracked the dome Donald then casted a Thundaga spell that smashed the dome and gave the Mad Doctor a nasty shock. The robot then stopped moving and looked like it was about to exploded.
"No! No!" The Mad Doctor yelled.
Then the dome exploded and the robot fell to the ground. Once the smoke cleared both Ansem and Xemnas found Donald and Goofy unconscious and Riku and Ven being pointed down by the robot.
"It would same as if you've lost." Xemnas said.
Terra and Aqua then jumped out from nowhere and were about slam their Keyblades on Ansem and Xemnas. But then from behind them Ansem guardian grabbed them from behind.
"You are all have been defeated." Ansem said.
"Want to bet." Riku said.
Both Ansem and Xemnas looked confused but then they realised that Sora was missing. They quickly turned their heads and saw that all the Princess of Heart were free and all except Kairi were drinking the blood of Jabberwocky. Then the six Princesses began to disappear.
Out of anger both Ansem and Xemnas charged towards them. But both Sora and Kairi fired two beams of light from the end of their Keyblades. The beam hit both Ansem and Xemnas in the chest making them to fall to their knees.
"I suggest that two should turn to you timelines now." Master Xehanort said.
They both nodded and they disappeared.
Then suddenly King Mickey and the others entered the room. Both Sir Richard and Pete lifted the robot so that Lea and Roxas could pull Riku and Ven out. Naminé and Xion went to help Donald and Goofy up. King Mickey looked straight at Xehanort pointing his Keyblade at him.
"It's over Xehanort your army is defeated and all the rest of the members of the Organization have been defeated." King Mickey said.
"True that nine of my vessels have been destroyed and the three others were forces to return to their own timelines but it is far from over." Xehanort said.
"What are you talking about the other Princess of Heart have returned to their own worlds and I doubt you have the power to recapture them." Kairi said.
"But didn't you notice that every time you defeated vessels that a dark sphere was left behind." Xehanort said. They all looked at each other remembering it. "You see each one of those dark spheres was the parts of my heart I gave to them and once you defeated them they turned to me. As for Ansem and Xemnas once you destroyed them those pieces entered in to me and I have been holding the piece my young self had been holding alone."
"And now you have all thirteen." King Mickey said.
"Indeed!" Xehanort said.
"But I still don't get it you still haven't got seven lights." Kairi said.
"Oh but I do." Xehanort said.
Then then pressed a button and seven cables came out of nowhere and landed on Sora, Riku, Kairi, Ven, Terra, Aqua and King Mickey chests. Then suddenly they all felt massive about of pain as the cables sucked their strength. Then after a few seconds the pain stopped and they were freed from the cables and the seven of them fell to the floor.
"If you think that's going stop us you're wrong." Sora said.
He then tried to summon his Keyblade but nothing happened. The others did the same but the same thing happened to them.
"What did you do?" King Mickey asked.
"Something that the Mad Doctor was working on. It allowed me to draw your energy into me the power that allows you to summon your Keyblades." Xehanort said.
"But that's impossible no one can steal a Keyblade." Aqua said.
"That's not entirely true you see young Riku here managed to take Sora's Keyblade for a short while." Xehanort said.
"Yeah but you've still got us to deal with old man." Lea said.
Then He, Roxas, Naminé, Xion and King Oswald jumped up towards him. But then Xehanort held his hand out and then the χ-blade appeared in his hand. He simple gave it a wave and a powerful shockwave appeared and slammed into Lea, Roxas, Naminé, Xion and King Oswald sending them back into the wall.
"Now it's time for the great door to be opened." Xehanort said.
He then pointed the χ-blade up towards the sky. Then a beam of light came out of its pointed and head straight into the sky. Suddenly a moon shaped like a heart appeared in the sky.
"Kingdom Hearts!" Sora said.
"It is now time to bring balance to the realm of light." Xehanort said. He then flew into the sky straight towards Kingdom Hearts.
"We've got to stop him." Sora said getting up.
"How we've lost the power to summon our Keyblades and those who still can are knocked out." Riku said.
"We'll I'm not giving up." Sora said.
"Then I'm coming with you." Kairi said.
"No Kairi if I fail you need to help the other to fight this new darkness." Sora said.
"Alright just be careful." Kairi said.
"But Sora you don't have a weapon." Riku said.
"You can use my sword." Sir Richard said holding his sword out.
"Are you sure?" Sora asked.
"If you're going up there to face Xehanort you're going to need something to face him with." Sir Richard said.
"Thanks!" Sora said as he took Sir Richard's sword.
"Good luck." Kairi said.
She then kissed Sora and warped her arms around his neck. Sora in turn warped his arms around her waist. Once they broke apart Sora looked at her eyes.
"I'll come back I promise." Sora said.
"I know you will." Kairi said as she stepped away from him.
Sora then flew into the sky straight towards Kingdom Hearts.
