Chapter 26
Luckily, Spira was nice enough to have a clock in here. to an extent it kept me sane but at the same time my impenitent side would drive me nuts. I spent most of my time looking out the window staring down at Earth wondering how the others and if they got my message, and who this mystery person I'd be meeting tomorrow. I hear the door behind me and Spira appears with two others carrying tea,
"Did you give it to them?" I asked running up to her,
"Yes I personally gave it to Shadow," she said gesturing to the table and we both sit down,
"Great, now I just have to hope Tails will be able to figure out your technology." I said as she hands me a cup of tea, "Thanks," I said
"You're welcome," she said taking a sip of her tea,
"So will I be meeting this guy here on the ship or will we be going back down to earth?" I asked
"We will meet him in his secret place down on earth, we will leave on a small ship down to him." she explained,
"Let me guess, I'll be knocked out for that trip." I said
"Just blindfolded so you won't know your current location." she said
"That makes sense..." I said sipping my tea, and we sit in silence. "Can I ask a question?"
"Ask away," she said
"Why are you trying to conquer the earth?" I asked, she puts her tea cup down hesitant to answer.
"The Zarkon's have been conquerors of worlds since before I was born, we were raised for battle," she said
"But why? don't you have your own home?" I asked as she shakes her head,
"The Zarkon home world was destroyed hundreds of years ago. We conquer worlds to find a place of our own." she explained,
"If you just want to find a home then why not take a planet that isn't already inhabited? like Mars for example... there's no one living there... I think." I said
"But like you humans we need the resources, water, sustainable life. your world has the minerals we need for enough fuel to get to the next solar system." she said
"Wait the main thing you need in minerals to fuel your ship?" I asked and she nods. "And the kind approach never occurred to you?" she looks at me confused, "Right, conquerors... a diplomatic approach doesn't make sense to you." I said,
"You mean negotiate?" she asked
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure asking for the materials in exchange for something would be a lot easier." I said
"I... never thought of it that way." she said,
"Why not? you don't need this partner, I could negotiate for you. I could explain what you need and we get our world leaders to talk it out and maybe they'll be willing to give you the minerals you need." I suggested.
"I... I need some time to think." Spira said standing up and leaves. Maybe I was too pushy, I guess I'll just finish my tea.
An hour goes by and I haven't heard anything from Spira; I guess I did scare her off. It was a shot in the dark but I had to try none the less. the door opens but it wasn't Spira but one of the other aliens.
"Please come with me," she said gesturing towards the door, I hesitated then followed her out of the room. the rest of the ship looked so different then the room I've been stuck in for the past few days, the corridors were brightly light and made me feel like I just landed in the middle of a science fiction. I continue to follow the lady until we reach what I can only guess is the flight deck, Spira stood near the window looking out towards space, I slowly walk up to her
"Uh... hey," I said as she turns to me,
"I gave it a lot of thought... and discussed it with my officers and I reached a decision. I will except your offer for negotiation." she said as I just stared at her, I didn't know what to say, I just smile. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, sorry, this is great." I said "I'm going to be honest I didn't think that was going to work..." I said,
"Well when I went to talk to my men they were just as confused as I was. But when they realized we could get the materials we need without the need for violence they were all for it. I did not realize how tired my men were of fighting, so we shall try it your way Sonic." she said,
"It's Saya," I said
"I'm sorry, I'm used to calling you Sonic; do you mind if I continue to do so?" she asked,
"Well if it's easier for you then sure," I said with a smile,
"Now... how is this going to work?" she asked,
"Well first we should contact my people so I can smooth things over with them; if we have my team on our side it'll help get more people to warm up to the idea." I said
"Why would we need people to warm up to us?" she asked confused,
"Uh... you've caused a lot of damage and possibly injured people in your last fiasco..." I said
"You do have a point..." She said
"And I guess we won't need to meet this mysterious partner of yours," I said
"Oh yes, I should contact him," she said walking over to a monitor, I was hoping she wouldn't do that, A loud crash is heard as the lights flicker and everyone grabs something to hold on to,
"What just happened?" I yelled as we hear another crash,
"We're being attacked!" one of the men said,
"By who?" Spira said
"I'm not sure Ma'am apparently another ship is trying to board us," he responded
"There's another ship!?" I yelled, trying to keep my balance,
"The ships been breached they're boarding us," he said
"What!?"
"Sonic! hurry and transform, we might need your help." Spira yelled,
"Okay!" I said as I let go of the wall, "The seven servers are the seven chaos, chaos is power, power enriched by the heart, the heart is the controller, the controller serves to unify the chaos, Chaos... " before I could finish I'm blasted back into the wall,
"Sonic!" Spira runs over to me helping me to my feet,
"They broke through the security wall we can't hold them..." the man at the monitor is shot in the back and falls to the ground,
"Stay behind me," Spira said as we hear mechanical footsteps coming towards us, I knew I didn't have much of a chance, but I can't transform now, not in front of an unknown enemy.
"Seize them!" A raspy voice is heard from the shadows, as the Robots charge at us;
"Dodge!" Spira said as she runs the side and I run towards them, "What are you doing?" she yelled as I slide underneath one of the robots.
"Improvising," I said; I might not be Sonic fast but I'm still fast enough to give these Swatbots a run for their money. I slide underneath one of the robots quickly, as I come to a realization, "These are Swatbots..." I said as two of the robots smash into each other trying to get to me,
"Sonic just run!" Spira yelled, she was already surrounded,
"Hang on!" I yell picking up a piece of scrap metal and throwing it at the robots and they all turn towards me, "Hey tin head! come pick on somebody a fourth your size," I said as two of them run towards me. One makes a grab for me but I jump back out of the way, "is that the best you got?" I yelled as two more Swatbots lung at me, "Whoa! apparently not," I said as another makes a grab for me but I slide out of the way and the robot strikes the other,
"Get out of here, save yourself!" Spira yells; I look over and the robots already captured her,
"But she already knows that she has nowhere to go." the voice said as a man slowly walks up to us, his voice caught me off guard as one of the robots grabs me from behind,
"Let go!" I struggled but the mechanical hands only tighten their grip around my arms,
"I knew Spira captured you but I had to make sure. and only one person can move like that and still have time for witty banter." The man said as he finally came to view, "Hello Sonic. or should I call you Saya," he grinned, I knew who he was right away, from his bright red buttoned jacked, his goggles and bushy mustache, to his bald head.
