"Hold on," Ryuko said, "hold on. Remember a few minutes ago, when I said I wasn't tired?"
"That was more than a few minutes ago," Mako said.
"Whatever," Ryuko said. "Point is, it turns out I am pretty tired. I'm gonna go back home and take a nap."
"That's actually a good idea," Soichiro said. "That way, if anything particularly stupid happens here in the real world, you can wake up and it can turn out to have just been part of your dream."
"Sweet," Ryuko said. "Anyway, I'll see you later. All aboard the SS Sleepytime Express and all that."
Soichiro and Mako simply waved goodbye as they watched her return home.
