Monday mornings always came around far too early for Tim's liking. The weekend had been relaxed and now the day had dawned with the stress of uncompleted school work and unlimited bullying. He mumbled a short and somewhat sleepy goodbye to his dad as his brother went ahead to meet up with his friends.
Tim smiled as he spotted his girlfriend standing near the front doors waiting for him; despite the cool weather Abby was dressed in her usual attire of a short skirt and knee high socks.
"Morning, Timmy," Abby smiled brightly as he pulled her in for a hug. She kissed his lightly as to not make a scene in front of the other students, "Monday, again"
Tim chuckled as he took her hand and walked her towards her first class.
"I'll meet you at lunch," He promised kissing her on the cheek and making his way to IT.
He was surprised to find his usual seat already taken by an unfamiliar brunette girl who was furiously typing away at the keyboard in front of her.
"Hey, I'm Tim, well Timothy but just Tim," He introduced as he cringed as he stumbled over his words; he'd accepted long ago that he'd never be any good at talking to girls.
"Hi, just Tim," The girl laughed lightly, "Delilah, I just started"
Tim ignored that she was in his seat and sat down next to her with a slight smile, "Nice to meet you, Delilah"
"Thanks, you too," Tim was almost certain that she blushed slightly. He took a minute to look at her while she continued to work. She really was beautiful he concluded and he found that his palms were slightly sweaty as he logged into the computer in front of him.
He chatted with Delilah for the rest of the hour and by the time the bell went they were laughing like old friends. She was in most of his classes he discovered and since he usually sat alone, he found himself in her company for most of the morning.
"Hey, why don't we go to the deli instead of the cafeteria, the food is better and it's only a couple of blocks?" Tim suggested as the bell for lunch went as he completely forgot his previous arrangement with Abby.
"Yeah, sounds great," She agreed as they packed away their stuff.
…
Abby stood around outside of her chemistry class for fifteen minutes before giving up with a sigh. She didn't know where Tim had gotten to but she was hungry and restless so she headed towards the cafeteria. Maybe he'd just forgotten and was still working on one of his projects. Arriving at their usual lunch table, Jimmy was already there his head buried in a book.
"Hey, Jimmy," Abby smiled as she set her tray down beside him.
"No Tim?" Jimmy asked glancing up and noticing the lack of his twin.
"I don't know where he is," Abby shrugged as she bit into her sandwich and chewed thoughtfully for a minute or so as she checked her phone to see if Tim had replied to her text; he hadn't, she'd have heard it go off if he had but she checked anyways before slipping it back into her pocket.
"You met the new girl?" Jimmy asked as he shut the book to pay attention to his friend.
"Nope, didn't know there was one."
"Oh, I assumed you'd met her since Tim showing her around."
Abby stared at Jimmy in surprise with a slight frown and he almost laughed at how much she looked like her dad.
"She cute?"
"Why?"
"Oh, you know, just wondering," Abby looked down at her lap in embarrassment, jealously didn't sit well with her but she needed to ask.
"Yeah, I guess," Jimmy laughed lightly knocking her shoulder. She was thankful for his friendship despite the fact he was two years older at 17, he never brought it up or treated her any different. She wasn't looking forward to them graduating next year; sure she had other friends but it wasn't the same as having them here. She kept an easy conversation with him until the end of lunch and then she headed toward English lit.
Walking at a steady pace as to not be early she spotted Tim up ahead with whom she assumed was the new girl, they stood by the lockers with a minimal amount of space between them both giggling at each other. Tim's arm was resting casually around the girl's shoulders. Abby turned and headed back the way she came and slipped into the first bathroom she came across before they seen her staring at them.
She was cute. Hell, she was more than cute. Gorgeous even. Abby stared at her own reflection for a while. Her pigtails were childish and made her look younger. She knew that Tim had had problems in the past about their age difference. She pulled her hair ties out and pulled her hair into a single high ponytail and pulled her sleeves down over her hands with a sigh. They'd looked so comfortable with each other. It wasn't tense. She'd caused him so many problems, he probably felt more of a babysitter than a boyfriend. They couldn't even have sex because she was underage. He could do whatever he wanted with that girl. They were both 17 after all.
She wanted desperately to skip and go home and snuggle with her dog but she knew that she couldn't keep running away whenever something went wrong. Her dad would kill her if he knew her attendance. She waited for a few minutes after the bell rang to make sure they'd gone before heading to class, her teacher wouldn't mind.
…
Tim got settled in his seat and pulled out his phone and then it all dawned on him. Abby. He hadn't given a thought to her all day. Not once while in Delilah's presence had he mentioned her despite the fact they'd been dating for three years. He felt guilty and ashamed but yet he still didn't bring it up. There was no point. It's not like Delilah would care, it wasn't like that, he was helping her out, showing her the school, being a friend when she didn't have any yet. It's not like he had to tell Abby everything. He was allowed privacy surely. And anyways what would Delilah even thinking, knowing he was dating a 15-year-old. She'd think he was some sort of perv like everyone else did. He loved Abby, of course he did but Delilah had made him question if he was really in love with her.
