Disclaimer: Still don't own it

Spencer knew something was wrong when Mona failed to pick her up.

One of Mona's many traits was that she was either early or on time whenever she had to do something which Spencer knew very well.

As Spencer watched the clock for Mona to show up, she was starting to get worried since school was going to start soon. She had tried texting her friend a number of times and had even called but there was no answer. She had tried to call the house phone but for some reason, there was a busy signal. Something was up and the teen knew that she needed to do something now in case Mona was in trouble; especially with what was hanging over their heads.

A full week had gone by since the incident at the club and everything had been quiet; which had made the two girls a bit paranoid. Other than the occasional glare from Alison, nothing had yet happened to Mona though there had been continuous whispers from her fellow classmates about what had happened. While most of the upper echelons on the school social hierarchy were siding with Alison, a significant portion was taking Mona's side thus dividing Rosewood High. This was a new occurrence and showed cracks in Alison's dominance.

"You're still here?" Melissa asked as she entered the kitchen and found her sister waiting at the counter.

"Yeah; Mona is way late and I am starting to get worried," Spencer said as she dialed her friend's number again. She frowned when it went straight to voicemail.

"Well that's not like her; and she hasn't called?" Melissa inquired, genuinely concerned since despite her dislike for Mona, she found the girl useful.

"No; something's wrong, I just know it," Spencer said, getting up and starting to pace until Melissa sighed.

"Do you want me to drive you to her house?" Melissa asked, volunteering to help Spencer out. It was a rare thing for her to do but a part of her felt it was necessary since she is family.

"You would do that?" Spencer asked, surprised by the offer since her sister never drove her anywhere unless her parents ordered it.

"Let's go," was all that Melissa said and grabbed her purse where her keys were located. She had gotten up earlier to take Wren to work since she needed the car today. Spencer quickly grabbed her backpack and followed her sister out the door.

Spencer climbed into the passenger seat and Melissa started the car, pulling out of the driveway as Alison was coming out of her house with her posse in tow. The two teens eyed each other for a brief moment and Spencer could swear that her former friend had a smirk on her face; which made the teen even more paranoid that something bad had happened to her friend. Melissa had also seen the smirk and there was a twinge of anger that was brought up within her; as much as she disliked Mona, she hated Alison with a passion thus had no desire to see her win at all.

Spencer became immediately alarmed even more when they arrived at the Vanderwaal house only to find a couple of cop cars. Even before Melissa stopped the car, Spencer jumped out and ran towards the house after seeing Mrs. Vanderwaal talking to one of the officers. She looked upset and appeared to have been crying. There was an overnight bag next to her and it looked like she was heading somewhere. Given her state, Spencer was even more scared that something bad had happened to her friend and needed to know more.

"Mrs. Vanderwaal; what happened?" Spencer asked, overtly concerned and near panic. While the officer seemed annoyed that he was being interrupted, the teen couldn't have cared less.

"Mona was hit by a car last night when she went out for some milk; witnesses say that the driver deliberately hit her before driving off," Leona informed Spencer with cracks in her voice. Both Spencer and Melissa became shocked by the information.

"Is she alright?" the teen asked, fearing the worst with a mixture of emotions going through her mind as she digested the news.

"Her leg is broken and she hasn't woken up yet but the doctors are confident that there is no other damage. Her head never hit the pavement, but a patch of grass so there was no real trauma to her head. I'm sorry that I didn't call you but I've been a scramble of emotions," Leona said and before Spencer could say anything, Melissa spoke up.

"Spencer understands; I am sorry that Mona got hurt and if there is anything that you need, just let my family know," stated Melissa and her sister looked over in shock since it appeared that the elder Hastings child was being genuine in her words.

"Thank you Melissa; it's nice to see you after all this time," said Mrs. Vanderwaal and Melissa just smiled.

"Do they know who did it?" Spencer inquired, eyeing the cop. He didn't appear to be giving up any information but Leona just shook her head.

"No; the car had been stolen and later found abandoned just a few blocks away," Leona stated and knew she had to get to the hospital in case her daughter woke up.

"Well I can tell you who it was; it was Alison DiLaurentis and you need to go arrest her," Spencer said to the police officer forcibly. The logical part of her mind was screaming at the ridiculousness of the statement but right now, Spencer was only guided by emotions.

"Unless you have proof ma'am, I can't just go and arrest her," the officer said though he knew the name well. Officer Barry knew full well who Alison was and what kind of girl she was but also knew that her family was powerful.

"You're sleeping with her, aren't you?" Spencer suddenly accused, letting her anger guide her behavior. The officer froze while both Leona and Melissa just stared at the teen in horror.

"Excuse me?" Officer Barry said, taking offense at the teen's words. He was a happily married man after all and was disgusted at the accusation.

"This whole town knows that Alison is a slut and I am betting that your kind is protecting her because she does the police favors," stated the teen and every last voice in her head was screaming for her to stop before she got into more trouble than she already was.

Before Officer Barry could respond, which was probably by placing Spencer in handcuffs and taking her in to cool off, a new arrival came into the scene. Spencer and the rest of the group looked over to see a familiar face take over; which the officer was thankful for since this person was of higher authority. Melissa had heard that her former classmate had made Detective and wasn't surprised that he had become involved in this; especially since like herself, he also hated Alison. Maybe there was a chance that he could get Spencer out of this before she got into even more trouble.

"Is there a problem here?" asked Detective Wilden as he joined the group after overhearing the teen's words from the car. His curiosity had been perked by the younger Hastings words and decided to intervene before things got out of hand.

"I am about to arrest the miss here for defamation of an officer," Barry said as he was now quite annoyed with the teen.

"Well I don't think that is necessary; obviously Miss Hastings is angry that her friend was hurt and is letting her emotions cloud her judgment. If she apologizes, then we can let her go since she needs to be in school," Wilden said and while Melissa as well as Officer Barry nodded, Spencer looked away and just muttered an apology.

"I think we should go," Melissa said and she started to lead Spencer away so that she could take her to school before she was even later.

"Just a minute; why do you think it was Alison who attacked your friend?" Wilden inquired as he took charge.

He had a feeling on what the answer was but wanted to hear it from the teen anyways. Even though he had often did favors for Jessica DiLaurentis, he had absolute disdain for her daughter and her posse; especially since he was friends with Jenna Marshall. Like certain elements in town, he knew how she was really blinded though there was nothing he could do about it. When he had heard that Spencer had been kicked out of the blonde's group, he thought about going after her in order to turn her; only to find out that Mona had poached her first.

That is when he backed off; Mona scared him just as much as Alison did.

"Alison hates Mona and attacked her a week ago at the club; we had heard that Alison was planning some sort of prank and now this happens. It can't be a coincidence," Spencer stated and there was a mixture of looks from the rest of the assembled group; though Leona looked like she believed her and seemed to be furious.

"Well until there is proof, I am afraid that we can do nothing. Just head off to school and hopefully your friend will wake up," Wilden stated, waving the sisters off and Melissa quickly got Spencer out of there before she wound up back in trouble.

"You need to control yourself; the last thing we need is for you to end up in jail and laughed at because your accusations," Melissa chided as they got back into the car and headed away from the house.

"We both know that it was Alison who did this," Spencer stated, not apologizing for her behavior. She did admit to herself though that she might have gone too far and exposed her emotions too much.

"I am sure that she did do this but unless you have proof, then there is no point is simply accusing her of it. I think you just have to be happy that Mona is alive and move on; the both of you need to move on and just concentrate on graduating early so that you can get out of this town," advised the elder sister, hoping that Spencer would take her advice. Melissa was somewhat relieved as she watched her sister nod.

However, Spencer had no intention of letting this go and was vowing vengeance against her former friend. With Mona out of commission, it was just her for the moment and that left her vulnerable to the blonde. Then again, maybe it was now time to strike back since she and Mona had obtained tons of material on their enemy. Spencer was sure that Mona would approve given this deadly attack on her; which even they hadn't counted on and was surprised by the viciousness of it even though they both knew what had really happened to Jenna all that time ago.

Melissa dropped her off at school with a note; which Spencer handed to her teacher as she entered her first period class. The teacher, whom she had a good relationship with, read the note and nodded while offering an apology to the teen for what had happened to Mona. Unlike the teacher though, the rest of the school already had heard what had occurred with Mona and there had been a buzz of gossip because of it. Everyone knew full well that Alison had been behind it though very few would say it out loud due to fear. There was also a general consensus that Spencer would strike back in some way given that she was considered one of the smartest kids at school.

The two classes seemed to drag on and Spencer did her best to focus on the subjects at hand while thinking about what she was going to do. The teen knew that something had to be done; this was certain and not up for debate. While their A Game had been just about setup and ready to launch, it was not a good idea to start now given that Alison would know full well that they would be responsible if A appeared now. So Spencer had to come up with another way of striking back without involving the game just yet. Perhaps she could release one of the videos of Alison's various escapades without signing herself as A in order to thrown the blonde off.

Alison, once the embarrassment was over with, would immediately accuse her but Spencer had ways to release the video without having it traced to her. Without proof, the blonde's words would fall on death ears to most in the town but there still was the risk of her parents finding out. They knew full well how Spencer operated when she was angry as well as Mona's mother who would be suspicious as well. Perhaps a third party would be willing to help Spencer out in this situation since Alison had more than enough enemies in town besides herself and Mona; which one to go to would be the tricky thing though.

Then again, maybe Spencer didn't have to anyone currently in Rosewood to distribute the video; or even do it in town in case it was traced. Recently, Mona had given her friend a full list of those who hated Alison and where they lived; including the person who had been pushed down the stairs at a frat party the posse had crashed last year. If Spencer sent the video anonymously, then there was a chance that the person would release it out of spite given how much Jessica had paid and bribed to intimidate this person; laying the blame at some person named Cece Drake who once been a friend of Alison's.

Spencer had forgotten to grab her lunch so she had to buy one from the school cafeteria. She ignored the looks and whispers from her classmates, doing her best to just eat her lunch in peace. For a passing moment, she had spotted Alison with her posse sitting in the middle of the room like she always did. Their eyes met for a very brief time and Spencer could swear, just for a second that the blonde had smirked in triumph. That had infuriated Spencer though she had masked her anger and stayed focused on leaving the cafeteria for the comfort of isolation; missing the company of her friend whom she hoped was okay.

Spencer planned to head straight to the hospital after school; even if she had to walk.

The rest of school went without incident and Spencer had her best to stay focused on her studies; though Mona was always on her mind at some point. She had texted her mother earlier that she was going straight to the hospital after school and Veronica said that her father would be picking her up to take her; which Spencer was grateful for. The catch was that he would be a short while before he would arrive at school which meant that she would have to hang out for a while until then. So she decided to hang out in the library and try to get some of her homework done; maybe even pick up some of Mona's assignments for once she woke up.

"Hey," said a voice from above and Spencer looked up to see Andrew Campbell standing overhead as she was working on her history paper at one of the tables in the library.

"Hi," Spencer simply said, surprised that he was talking to her since they hadn't spoken since she had been booted from the student council last school year.

"I heard about Mona; sorry to hear that she got hurt," Andrew said as he sat down across from her. While his smile was calming as well as disarming, Spencer still kept her guard up since Mona mentioned that he was a sly one at times with his own agenda.

"Thank you; I'll let her know you said that," Spencer said, being polite but still suspicious none the less. He wanted something since he never went out of his way to talk to her outside of class.

"Listen, the Debate Club is recruiting and I was wondering if you as well as Mona would like to join; once Mona is on her feet that is," asked the young man and Spencer blinked a few times since she was surprised by the request. From what she had heard, both her and Mona were the class pariahs because of their reputations.

"Umm…I'll think about it and will tell Mona; give us a few days?" inquired the young woman and Andrew nodded. He then left after wishing her well. A part of Spencer wondered if Alison's hand was behind this even though word was that Andrew hated the blonde for some unknown reason.

There was a buzz from her phone and Spencer saw that her father had arrived. Texting him that she was on her way, the teen gathered her stuff and was out of the library rather quickly. As she walked to her father's waiting car, she made the mistake of not being aware of her surroundings; even though her friend had just suffered for it. As a result, she missed being spied upon from a figure in the bushes who had been watching her since school ended just a few hours ago.

Watching Spencer get into her parent's car and drive off, Shana stepped out of the shadows and pulled out her phone.
