Troubles with SPR: Being Sick (3)

A light-brown long haired man moaned, an arm of his hung off the side of his bed. He felt exhausted and sick to the stomach. His head would become dizzy when he sat up and that's how he had planted his face in his pillow.

"Woof!" his male puppy, Uta, barked; making sounds to let his owner know that he was worried.

However, the man ignored it. Uta licked his hand that was hung off of his bed repeatedly with affection.

The window beside the man was open, the light breeze whistling inside of the warm room and freshening it up with the coolness.

"Ugh," he moaned again, shifting his position on the already badly wrinkled bed. He lazily swung his hung off arm right onto his face, blocking his view. He felt comfortable at the moment until the phone beside him suddenly rang—causing him to yelp.

"Damn it," he muttered, shifting his position again toward the phone and slamming his finger right onto the loud speaker.

"Bou-san?" The man heard. It was a female for sure, and it sounded young. "Bou-san, are you there?"

The light-brown long haired man, whose name was Bou-san, moaned in response.

"Are you all right, Bou-san?" the girl said, worry covering her voice.

"No," Bou-san replied in a slow, croaky voice. "I need serious help."

"Ayako!" The man heard through the phone and it piqued his curiosity. "Bou-san says .."

The voice faded, causing Bou-san to curse inaudibly. He shoved his face in his pillow again, his feet dangling off from the foot of his bed.

"Bou-san, hold on, OK?" the girl suddenly said, startling Bou-san and Uta due to how loud the volume was. "Ayako and I are coming over in just a few minutes."

Bou-san groaned in response and hung up. He rolled many times on his bed until he was satisfied with the spot he was on—in which, half of his body was hanging off of his bed while Uta was nudging his head into the crook of his owner's neck.

Sighing, Bou-san glared at the ceiling of his room. He petted his dog on the head unconsciously, waiting for the certain ding dong on his door.

It had been an hour, if he could estimate well enough. And it wasn't until he did hear the echo of the ringing through his house.

"Bou-san, open up!" The man heard the female voice again. Now that he heard it, it sounded like Mai's.

Bou-san groaned again, rolling off of his bed and landed onto his floor with a loud thud!

"Ouch." He shook his head side to side and crawled—or pulled!—his way out to his living room. The rest of the crawling made him run out of energy and so he laid on the floor in the middle of the living room, moaning.

Uta, the intelligent dog, followed his owner and seeing him lay there without a single movement, became worried. He barked and searched for the front door key, managing to find it on the floor beside the television. He grabbed it with his mouth and sprinted to the kitchen to the backyard glass door and jumped through the pet hole.

He ran around the house and to the front door, seeing two females standing there, calling out his owner's name.

Uta barked, dropping the key onto the soft grass behind them. The two females turned and noticed the small puppy. The red-headed female, yelped and hid behind the brunette.

However, the brunette—named Mai—blinked and smiled. She petted the puppy on the head until she became aware of the key.

"Look, Ayako!" Mai exclaimed, picking up the key and waving it side to side in front of the other female's face—whose name was Ayako.

Ayako raised an eyebrow. "That old man has a dog?"

"It would be obvious if you observe his personality traits." The brunette unlocked the front door and opened it. "There we go!"

Uta barked happily, wagging his tail and ran back inside.

"Do we follow that dog or what?" Ayako said, taking a step inside with her clacking high heels.

"I guess," Mai replied.

The two girls walked inside and upon seeing Bou-san lying dead—metaphorically—on the floor, only Mai ran toward him while Ayako studied the man's house.

"Bou-san!" The girl shook him worriedly.

"This place stinks!" Ayako scrunched her face up. "And it's dirty."

Indeed, the house was dirty. Outdated newspapers were crumpled all over the wooden floor, uncleaned dishes were placed every counter and table—especially the bookshelf—, unwashed pile of clothes were thrown in every corner of the room, causing the odor to become more obvious that it was from it, and many other unpleasant items were everywhere.

"At least help Bou-san get back to his bed!" The brunette rolled her eyes, attempting to put the man's arm over her shoulder.

"And why should I do that?" Ayako poked Uta's head with curiosity. "Don't you think a dog's already enough?"

Uta blinked, tilting his head to the side in confusion due to the words.

"Just help!"

"Fine!"

Once Bou-san was back on his bed and mumbling nonsense, Mai and Ayako were examining every room of the man's house.

"Yeah, the rooms are filthy." The girl nodded her head in agreement of Ayako's words. "That's why we should clean them."

Ayako gaped, her purse hanging loosely on the tip of her fingers. "I'm not cleaning!"

Mai puffed one of her cheeks out in irritation. "Well, you are after I go out to buy a few of the utensils that Bou-san doesn't have."

"I'm not staying here alone with that man and this crazy dog!" Ayako pointed at Uta beside her feet who was trying to climb on her leg.

"I'm heading out, make sure you accompany Bou-san in his room," Mai said, stepping in her shoes and opening the door. Before the front door closed, Mai grinned at Ayako.

Ayako's eyebrow twitched. "You brat," she muttered. After a few minutes, she sighed and stalked toward the kitchen counter, placing her purse on it.

She tied her hair and put on cleaning gloves. She studied the living room again and started with picking up the old newspapers from the floor.

"If only Masako was here," Ayako mumbled. "It'd be a tad better, no matter how cranky she'd be."

Once she completed picking up the newspapers, she threw them into the recycling bin and smiled while she raised one of her eyebrows. "At least he knows how to take care of the world."

Ayako breathed out and glared at the dirty dishes on the tables, counters and the bookshelf. "There's a reason why there's a basin in a house, stupid man."

She began to collect the dishes and sink them into hot, soapy water.

While she was scrubbing the dishes clean, she noticed the dog who was staring at her with amusement from across the living room. "What are you looking at?"

If Uta was human, he'd be smirking. However, he silently retreated to his owner's bedroom.

Ayako blinked and shrugged it off. She proceeded to scrub the dishes clean until she was done. She pursed her lips as she observed the place again.

"It's better than before." She walked to the corners of the room and saw the dirty piles of the clothes. She felt sick looking at it and the stench of it made it worse. "Laundry, laundry, laundry .." The red-head looked around for a laundry in the house.

Upon seeing the laundry room next to the bathroom, she prepared herself from picking up the clothes.

She breathed in fresh air through an open window and abruptly seized a pile of clothes from one corner and threw them in the laundry. She continued to do the same from every corner until she was finished.

"Phew!" Ayako wiped her forehead with her arm.

She was about to grab a mop until she heard a groan from the bedroom. Her curiosity leaked out and everything about the mop was dropped from her mind. She removed the gloves and walked to the bedroom.

"Ayako .. !" Bou-san moaned, sitting up.

"Stay in bed, idiot!" Ayako shoved him back down onto the bed. "And where's the towel on your forehead before?" She looked around and noticed it was in Uta's mouth. She sighed and rubbed her temples.

"Ayako, what're you doing in my home?" Bou-san loosely said, sitting back up again and looked at the female with half-opened eyes.

Ayako turned to glare at him, but felt her cheeks burning as she saw him looking at her with such a stare. It made her heart skip a beat and she turned back around again. "Helping you out and cleaning your disgusting house," she responded, fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

"Oh .. really?"

Ayako didn't hear Bou-san stand and walk toward her. She nearly yelped right when she felt someone touch her on her shoulder. "What are you doing!?" She turned around and was met face-to-face with Bou-san, whose cheeks were red from the fever.

"Ayako," Bou-san began, pushing the female towards the wall behind her. He steadied himself by placing both of his palms against the wall, his arms both beside the female's head—trapping her, of course.

"W-what do you want?" Ayako turned her head away, her cheeks firing up in a darker red.

Bou-san's warm breath lingered on her left cheek. "Did you know .."

Ayako gulped, squeezing her eyes shut. She hoped Mai wouldn't come in right now, seeing her and Bou-san like this and thinking the wrong way.

"Did you know that no matter how many times I call you bad names .." Bou-san moved his face closer to Ayako's. "And teasing you .."

Ayako felt her toes stabbing through the floor. Her hands were in fists, clenched tight with sweat.

"It never gets tiring .." Bou-san's lips were less than an inch from hers. "And that I like seeing your reactions towards them .."

The female held her breath.

"Makes me want to ki—"

The door was yanked open and Bou-san and Ayako turned to look. "Ayako, there wasn't anything from the nea—" Mai stopped her sentence as soon as she saw what positions Bou-san and Ayako were in. "—rest store .." She finished, blushing.

The red-head female gaped while the light-brown long haired man lazily stared.

"Um .." Mai glanced at Uta who was most likely watching the two adults before. "You can .. continue?"

"It's not what you think, Mai!" Ayako blushed, attempting to explain.

"No, no. It's all right, Ayako!" Mai nervously grinned. "I'll just get out and .. yeah .." She immediately left with a small smile on her lips. Uta hastily followed her steps before the door closed, and Ayako felt her insides sink.

Bou-san turned back to the female and smiled. "Should I continue what I was about to say?"

Ayako blinked.

"No!"
