Sorry for taking so long with this chapter. I went on vacation for a week and I didn't have my computer or wifi. No biggie though, as I am here now. I'll have another chapter out before the end of the weekend too, because you all waited.
Olivia-Ivy- Glad you liked the chapter! The monster idea was very creative, made me laugh.
Myth Magyk Fae- If Maka were a real person, trusting Soul would take time. I think it turned out really well. Glad you liked the chapter.
TheaCraft- So happy to find another Rwby fan! My friend showed it to me as we were walking to the bus and I became obsessed. I actually watched the show first, then the previews but I got to say my favorite video is the Red preview. Or episode 8. How about you? Glad you liked the play list. I know I get stuck on TDG and LP but I listen to them all the time. I just got some new CD's so I've got some more playlists for the story, wait and see.
Lovleydragonfly- Godzilla is a classic, everyone should love him.
Loomerlover- New York City is a worthy victim. Godzilla is the best (though I didn't think the new movie was that good).
Guest- California beware! The monster that goes bump in the night approaches!
Bubbly Noelephant- I never take off my Spidy jacket, I wear it every other day. I know what you mean about the little town thing, me too. Godzilla sure would liven it up a bit.
Guest- Hawaii would be taken over in seconds. But I loves zombies, I read World War Z three times (the movie is no comparison, I don't care what you say, they are not the same). It would definitely be a good story though.
Mystery Day Dreamer- I realize what you mean about the conflict, I'm about to add one. It will all become clear in the next chapter. If you like dragons you should check out Odat's "Dragon"
Lucky lady- Same as Loomerlover
Ama Zon- Sorry for the lack of updates. Here you are.
Lord Death wasn't really a lord. After he'd been reelected mayor for the third time, one of his secretaries had done a mock curtsy when he walked in. For the rest of the night, everyone had called him "Lord Death" and the name had stuck.
He'd never planned on being mayor. Really he just wanted a good life for his wife and two sons. However, his wife had been killed in a drive by and the incident had made him realize how bad Death City had become. Realizing he couldn't insight change without a place of power, he ran for mayor.
He had a land slide victory. But that was just the beginning. He still needed to clean up the streets. To fix the schools, help the families at home. There were finances to put in order. There were projects to begin. People to talk to.
But as time went on, terms ended and new terms began. Time with his sons became scarce. Soon his eldest didn't even want quality time. Kidd, however, always seemed up for the father-son excursions Lord Death had thought up. It was one such excursion that Lord Death had been thinking abuot when his secretary walked in looking conflicted.
"Sir," she began, "I have your schedule for this week. The thing is, I just got off the phone with your 4 o'clock on Thursday. And… well, you see… I don't know how to say this."
Death took it in stride. Some of his meetings were frightening. Death City was an intense place. But he needed his workers to be able to work. Setting aside the stack of papers he'd been reviewing, Lord Death gave the girl his full attention. "There's no cause for worry, Sylvia, I can take it, I'm sure."
With one more moment of hesitation, she came out with it, "Your 4 o'clock was phoned in by your son, Kidd."
For a moment, he was just shocked. Then he dismissed Sylvia and did the responsible thing. He called home.
Kidd picked up after the second ring.
"Yes father?"
"I just spoke with Sylvia and she has informed me you made a formal appointment. Was this not something we could have discussed at home?"
"The meeting was not for me. A friend asked a favor."
"I don't suppose you know what this is about?"
"He told me everything would be explained Thursday."
And so it was. A week passed and Thursday arrived. Quite a crowd had accumulated in the lobby outside. At the head of the crowd stood Kidd upright and professional. At his sides stood Liz and Patty. The three seemed to be the hosts of a group put together by lottery tickets.
Maka, the usual head strong girl, stood meek and hunched. She shied away from the tall red haired man at the opposite side of the group. It looked as if she were trying her hardest to disappear. Standing with her was a gold haired women. She had a protective arm around the girl, tucking her snuggly in the women's side. Medusa had been hesitant at first, but when the plan was explained and Soul showed her the papers, she agreed.
Star was at the other side of the room. He looked controlled, as if he was focusing on every muscle in his own body, keeping himself from moving. His left elbow was tucked under Spirit's armpit, holding the man up. The redhead was wearing thick sunglasses and was having trouble standing. He seemed to be a mix between hung-over and partially drunk. He wasn't making much noise but every so often he peeped over his sunglasses and gave any women in the room lust filled stares. Every few moments he would sway in his drunken stupor; the action causing Black Star to clench his teeth.
Tsubaki stood to the blue haired teen's side. She looked ready to spring between the two men if necessary. To the back stood an intimidating man. Dr. Stein was a genius. He'd mastered many subjects, including anatomy and law. He enjoyed science and discovery, however he was not born to a rich family. He became a capable lawyer to pay bills so he might continue his research uninterrupted. He actually had known Spirit. He had hired the Jack-of-all-trades drunk years ago, as the redhead had first been starting a family. He had not given the man much thought after Spirit had changed employment. He wasn't extremely surprised.
At the center of everything stood Soul. He clenched and unclenched his hands, preparing to be the spokesmen for the whole ordeal. When he glanced over to Maka, he looked longingly. He made no move to be near her, however, seeing it was Medusa's time to comfort the blond. The reaction of seeing her father was quite different. His eyes wondered over to the man bullied into standing, everything changed. Suddenly the everyday oddities of his appearance seemed frightening. His red eyes, usually lazy, became darker and fiercer, filled with anger and blood lust. His white hair, usually left in a lazy mess, was pulled back by a thin black head band, gelled hair becoming spikes. His teeth turned to a snarl, showing off the unnatural pointed triangles in his mouth. Soul became protective; he became a demon.
Sylvia peeked at the odd group and her eyes went wide before entering the lobby and letting them all into her boss's offive, she pulled her hair up into a bun with a pencil and tugged her sleeves to her elbow. Prepped for battle, she opened the double doors wide.
"Mr. Shinigami is ready for you now."
They all filed in. Soul, Stein, and Maka stood at Lord Death's desk, Spirit was pushed into a chair beside them. Everyone else lined up against the walls.
Stein pushed his glasses up on his nose and with a wicked smile, began the proceedings. "Maka Albarn is petitioning that Spirit Albarn is an unfit guardian, with the legal counsel of Soul Evans and myself. Reason being, Mr. Albarn is a danger to the girl and any person near him. He is a drunk and puts those around him in peril. I suggest treatment for alcohol abuse and suspension of driver's license. Also that Maka be put in the care of Ms. Medusa Gorgon."
From then on it was a lot of legal speak. Stein gave evidence, such as pictures of the two's house, medical history of their pervious crash, and Maka's statement. It did not help Spirit's case that he was drunk during the proceedings. When Medusa was called upon, she accepted the responsibility of taking care of Maka. The meeting lasted a little over two hours. Spirit was taken away in cuffs and Medusa signed the guardian papers.
Maka was free.
As this was happening, The Shinigami house hold was being broken into. A tall dark haired boy walked into the house without worry. He'd lost his key a month ago. It hadn't mattered at the time, as he was living out of home, but Shinigami's first son was home.
Asura had returned.
Okay, so this follows the manga, where Asura is Death's son too. If you didn't know, I'm telling you now; Asura and Kidd are brothers.
In other news: Anybody else think Kidd should be left handed? I just think he should be. I have a friend who's left handed and whenever I find a person, character or actor who is left handed I tell her. Off the top of your head, can you think of any left handed people?
