I'm awoken from my slumber by the ringing of my xtransceiver. N groans and stirs but doesn't wake. I decide to let it ring since I can't get out of N's strong grasp anyway and try to fall back asleep. The ringing stops but is replaced by more ringing, usually meaning something important is happening. I reopen my eyes and try to wiggle my way out of N's grasp.
His grip tightens as he moans. "No... Don't gooo..."
I giggle. "I need to see who's calling me. It might be important." I finally shuffle myself out of his grasp and answer. "Good morning!"
"Champion White! We have a challenger!" Marshall says. "She's already defeated me, Shantal, and Caitlyn. She's battling Grimsley right now. I suggest you get to it and head to the Champion's room. She's defeated all of us with only one Pokemon so far."
I sigh, looking at the clock to read 8 am. "This early in the morning? What kinda criminal does something like this? Fine, I'm heading there now. Wait, did you say with only one Pokemon?"
"A Gardevoir," Marshall says.
"I'm excited to battle her." I quickly gather my clothes and change in the bathroom to come out to see N fully dressed and ready to go. I smile at him. "Ready to see me kick some butt?"
"I love to see my queen doing whatever she likes," he responds.
"Then let's go!" I say, exiting the room and making my way to the Champion's room to greet my Pokemon. "You guys ready to go?" They all exclaim their names in determination. "That's what I like to hear."
"Are you going to dress in your Reshiram outfit from Elesa?" Lucario asks.
"Is it here already?" I ask.
"We had it all set up earlier this morning," Lucario says, taking me to the side of the room into a smaller room. Inside is a mannequin with the outfit presented on it. "I'd hurry. I hear our challenger is halfway through Grimsley's Pokemon."
I quickly get changed, after he leaves, and return out to the Champion's room. N is off to the side as I get in place in the middle of my Pokemon. My Pokemon consists of Lucario, Serperior, Braviary, Victini, Beartic, and Reshiram.
The doors to the room open to reveal the girl. She's wearing what looks as if she was trying to hide herself with her hood over her face and baggy sweatpants. The aura she sends off tells me she's strong.
"Well, I've heard quite a lot about you from my Elite Four members. Sounds like you have an impressive Gardevoir on your hands. It's nice to finally have a challenger for once and a very strong one for that matter. This means absolutely no holding back, not that I would in the first place! I'm interested in starting this battle, so let's get this show started. My name is White and I'm the champion of the Unova region! I will not be defeated!" I look around at my Pokemon. "Let's see... Beartic, how about we begin with you!"
"Beaar!" Beartic exclaims and walks out onto the battlefield.
She sends out a Pokemon that I've never seen before.
"Never seen that Pokemon before," I admit. "This'll be interesting. N? Would you do the honors of being the judge of the battle?"
"Anything for my queen," he says, getting up from his seat and going to sidelines. "Battle begin!"
"Aurous, thunder!" the woman shouts.
"Shred it to bits with shadow claw then use brine!"
~Time Skip~
She's down to her last Pokemon, Gardevoir, as I still have Serperior and my Reshiram, who I always save for last. She has all these Pokemon that I don't know besides Gardevoir. I've managed to defeat all of them after trial and error with discovering what type of Pokemon they were.
"You've been a very tough opponent," I say. "I feel if I knew the Pokemon that you've been sending out, I would've had an easier time. That and if I had my actual team."
"This isn't your actual team?" she asks.
"I don't usually use Beartic," I admit. "My other Pokemon is with my adopted kids, protecting them along their journey."
"That's a nice thing to do," she says.
"Thanks," I chuckle. "Shall we continue?"
"We shall."
"Alright, Serperior, do your thing!"
The woman and Gardevoir make eye contact and dodge our attack, just barely. "Alright, our turn Gardevoir! Shadow ball!"
"Cut them in half with leaf blade!" I call out. "Heh, your Gardevoir is fast but not fast enough! Serperior is one of the fastest Pokemon with a speed stat of 113. It's hard to beat. Serperior use leaf storm!"
I watch them make eye contact again and Gardevoir dodges, at least she thinks she does. You can't get away from our leaf storm. The attack makes impact, and she's thrown back.
"How?" she asks.
"We've done some special training. I'm not the champion for nothing," I admit proudly. "Let's continue with leaf blade again."
"Counter it with shadow ball!"
"Dodge and shoot your leaf storm into the air!"
Serperior does as she's told and disappears in the storm of leaves.
"Where'd she go?"
"That's her ability," I say. "Alright, Serperior, special move!"
She comes from wherever and smacks Gardevoir right in the face with aerial ace.
"Aerial ace," the woman says. "Nice touch. Gardevoir, find Serperior with psychic and then use thunderbolt."
I smirk. "Nice moveset, but... Serperior, I know you know what to do."
Gardevoir finds Serperior and uses thunderbolt but to no damage because Serperior stuck her tail in the ground like a lightning rod.
The lady looks impressed. "Smart. Alright, I believe it's time to get a little more power." She grabs her necklace and it begins to glow as well as the necklace on her Gardevoir. "Gardevoir, mega evolve."
I watch as right before my eyes Gardevoir changes appearance. My eyes widen at the magnificent sight. "What in the world?!" I shout.
"Gardevoir, moon blast!"
"Quick, Serperior, dodge it!" I shout. She hurriedly gets out of the way but the impact force from the ground throws her back some. "You alright, Serperior?"
"Ser!" she calls out, getting up.
I smile. "Well, I was very surprised by this change. I can feel how much more powerful your Pokemon is and the strong bond you have with each other. The power coming from your Pokemon is rolling off in waves. It makes me really excited. Alright, Serperior, let's show her the true power of our bond!"
"Serrr!"
I feel our hearts beat as one. I feel our actions become one. I feel us combine and become one. A storm of leaves surrounds Serperior as she transforms to look somewhat like me. What is this feeling? How is this possible?
"Incredible..." the woman says.
"You may have increased your power by speed and attack, but I don't feel any defense has risen," I announce, getting over my shock. "Alright, Serperior, frenzy plant!"
"Blast them away with moon-"
But it's already too late, Gardevoir was hit in a mere couple of seconds.
"Your speed may have increased but we still outmatch you in that area. Serperior, let's finish this up with a leaf blade aerial ace!" Serperior disappears and reappears in front of Mega Gardevoir with 10 hits in a second.
"No! Mega Gardevoir use thunderbolt to get Serperior away from you!"
Mega Gardevoir manages to get Serperior away from her but looks exhausted.
"This battle is over," I say a few seconds before Gardevoir turns back to normal and topples over.
"You're not called the strongest champion for no reason," the woman says, pulling down her hood.
I look at her confused as Serperior returns to normal. "You look familiar, but I don't know where..."
"It's nice to meet you, Champion White," she bows. "I am Diantha. I'm the Champion of the Kalos region."
"What?!" I shout. "Jeez... You should've told me otherwise I would've made this more official..." I recall Serperior to her pokeball.
She chuckles as she returns her Gardevoir. "I didn't want my appearance to be a big deal. I came here in secret."
"Why?" N asks.
"I heard you had a very strong Lucario," she says. "As I was right as he defeated 3 of my Pokemon."
"Let's heal our Pokemon, shall we?" I suggest, taking us to the elevator to the Pokemon Center out front.
We all get in the elevator.
"I hear you're almost just as strong as she is," Diantha says to N.
"She always wins in the end," N says.
"Girls always win in the end," Diantha says, causing me to chuckle. "You're the other person with the legendary dragon, Zekrom, correct?"
"The hero of ideals," N says. "That'd be me."
"It's a pleasure to meet both of you," Diantha says as we get off the elevator.
"So, what is your reasoning for coming to the region of Unova?" I ask.
"You saw how I was able to make Gardevoir change appearance?" she asks. "That's called beyond evolution or mega evolution. What if I told you that your Lucario could do that too?"
"Really?" I ask.
"Mega Lucario," Diantha says.
We walk up to Nurse Joy and hand her all our Pokeballs. "Please heal all our Pokemon, Nurse Joy."
"Certainly, Champion White." She takes all our pokeballs and takes them to the machine to heal them.
"I'm interested in why you want me specifically. I know I'm already incredibly strong, but why would you want to make me stronger?"
"Only the people that are capable of getting their Pokemon strong are the true people who can use mega evolution," Diantha says. "The people that have the strongest bonds. You showed me that when you combined with Serperior."
I chuckle. "To be honest, that's the first time we've ever done that..."
"Really?" Diantha asks. "You looked so confident and knowing."
"That's just how White is, she's unpredictable," N says. "She doesn't show weakness in battle."
"Interesting," Diantha says. "Well, anyway, let me get to why I'm officially here. I, Diantha, Champion of the Kalos region, formally invite you to come to the Kalos region in order to learn more about each other's regions and learn about mega evolution."
"And I formally accept," I chuckle. "I'm very interested in learning about this mega evolution. Would it be alright if N came along?"
"Of course. I wouldn't have it any other way," she says with a smile. "The queen and king must always be together. After all, there is no queen without her king and vice versa."
N grins as I feel my face heat up. "Very true," N says, grinning at me. "I'd be nothing without my queen."
Nurse Joy comes back. "I have restored your Pokemon to full health. I hope you have a nice day."
We take our pokeballs back and place them in their rightful places. I release Lucario from his pokeball.
"It's nice to finally meet face to face and not through a battle, Lucario," Diantha says.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Lucario greets.
"He can talk!" Diantha says with shock.
"No, he telepathically talks to us using his aura," I say.
"I have heard that certain Lucario's can do that," Diantha says. "It just came as a shock. I've never met one."
"Gardevoir can do it too," N says. "As can most psychic and other aura centered Pokemon."
"Usually the connection happens when the trainer has aura too," I say.
"You have aura?" Diantha asks.
"I didn't know I did till Lucario told me," I say. "We both mastered it using it during a year while I was searching for N."
"Fantastic," Diantha says. "Well, I have to go soon, so if you'd like to hitch a ride, I'd go get yourself packed."
"Alright, let's go," I say, taking the elevator back to the Champion's room with N. "Let's grab our bags and head back."
"Do you trust her?" N asks.
"She's the Kalos Champion," I say. "Of course I do. She looked familiar, so I already knew her. Why? Do you feel that something's off?"
"I think it's weird that she came here secretly."
"It's so she wouldn't attract a lot of attention. I have to do the same thing," I say. "That's the sad life of a champion."
He sighs as we enter my room to grab our stuff. "I trust you, but I don't trust her."
I smile at him and chuckle. "No need to worry. I can take her down if anything bad happens."
"I know you could, but that's not what I'm worried about."
"If it makes you feel any better we can ride on our legendaries for the trip," I say.
He smiles. "That sounds like a plan then."
We return to meet Diantha and Lucario along with a helicopter.
"We're going to take a helicopter all the way there?" I ask.
Diantha laughs as the helicopter brings itself down near us. "No, we're taking the helicopter to Mistralton City to get on a plane," she says.
"Oh, okay, we'll meet you there then," I say, calling out Reshiram and getting on her with Lucario following.
"Zekrom!" N calls Zekrom out and hops on. We take off and leave to Mistralton.
I get a call and answer. "Hello?" The Elite Four appears on the screen.
"Did you defeat her?" Grimsley asks. "Or do we have a new champion?"
"You think I lost?" I scoff. "You must think really low of me. No, I won. She's the Kalos Champion, Diantha."
"What?!" Caitlin fusses. "Aww man! If I knew I would've gotten her autograph!"
"I'll get you one, Caitlin," I say. "Anyway, I'm heading to the Kalos region to learn about the new type and evolution. I'm going to learn about and meet lots of new Pokemon. Don't worry though, I won't be gone for long. A week tops."
"Hope we don't get any challengers in the meantime," Shantal says.
"We don't worry about that. We never do," Grimsley sighs.
"Well, I gotta go, riding Reshiram. See ya!" I say, ending the call.
After getting on the plane, we all settle down for our trip to Kalos.
