School seemed to past them by rather fast. It seemed like a few days after Halloween it was Christmas then New Years and Easter had passed them by. They were soon approaching their last few days of school. Wade was happy for summer to be back in his life again. Zoe was actually thinking the same thing. This year she didn't have to go and see her mom in New York. Instead she was staying in Bluebell and working at the practice with her father and Brick. As for Wade he was gonna pick up more shifts at the Rammer Jammer.

"What day do you start work at the practice?" Wade asked as they sat on the swings at a little park.

"Next Monday. I wanted to have a full week with you before our summer jobs took our lives over on us. When do you start full-time at the Rammer Jammer?" Zoe asked back slowly pushing her swing.

"Next Monday as well. I wanted a chance to spend some much needed time with my baby girl before work got hectic." Wade smirked grabbing the chains on Zoe's swing pulling her to face him.

"Ever the romantic Wade." Zoe giggled. "You'll have to let me know your days off. So that way we can spend the day together." Zoe told him quickly kissing him.

"Hmm now that I can do. Also my mom wants you and your dad to come over sometime this week for dinner. Said it's been awhile since she's saw you guys." Wade informed her making her smile even more brighter.

"I'll let my dad know then get back to you when we can make it over." Zoe smiled. "Speaking of which I gotta go meet up with him for lunch, you can come with you if you want." Zoe suggested jumping off her swing.

"As fun as that sounds I gotta meet my dad." Wade informed her. Zoe nodded giving him a kiss going on her way to the practice to see that her dad had food for them on his desk. Zoe kissed Harley's cheek and sat down.

"How is Wade doing?" Harley asked once Zoe got seated.

"Good actually but uh his parents want us to come over sometime this week for dinner." Zoe informed him taking a bite of her chicken salad.

"I'm free Wednesday night." Zoe nodded taking a drink of her iced tea. "I've been thinking." Zoe looked at Harley wanting to know what her father had been thinking. She was certain he wasn't seeing anyone and his health was good. Nothing could be wrong. Not that she knew anyway. "After you graduate college and come to work at the practice full-time I'm gonna step way."

"Like for a year or something?" Zoe asked putting her fork down to look at her father with a serious look on her face.

"More like something. I'm gonna retire. It's time for me to do that Zoe."

"I don't want you to quit because of me dad." The only way Zoe could see this was because of her. It was her fault he was quitting the one thing he loved to do every day. He had to be leaving to make room for her.

"I'm not quitting because of you Zoe. It's just gonna be time for me to step away. To have some time for me. I'm still gonna care about the well being of everyone here but Zoe I can't work till the day I die." Zoe sighed softly giving her dad a soft smile.

"Ok. You do deserve to have a break from this."

"Dr. Wilkes." Was being called as Shula burst into Harley's office. "I have a fever, the chills and I'm all itchy." Zoe gave her dad a hug, smiled at Shula and walked out of the practice seeing Lavon cross the street.

"Hey football star." Zoe gushed catching up to him.

"Hey Z." They shared a hug.

"You back for the Summer?" Zoe asked sitting on a bench.

"Yep here to see mom and pops and all the folks of Bluebell. What are you up to this summer?"

"I'm gonna work at the practice actually." Lavon nodded noting the excitement in her voice. They sat on the bench for another hour catching up. Zoe had missed Lavon last summer. She had missed him when he was in town and when she got back last summer he was already gone. It wasn't until Lavon noted that he was gonna be late for some family fun if he didn't go. Zoe nodded giving him one last hug with plans of seeing each other around before he left. Zoe went about in search for her boyfriend when she found a sad AB at the Butter Stick. "What's wrong AB?"

"My dad wants us to move to some ranch in Texas for the summer. I can't take care of animals all summer Zoe." AB yelled in a panic getting looks from the people who filled the Butter Stick.

"It's gonna be ok AB. You'll have fun." Zoe put a big bright smile on her face. AB only shrugged.

"I don't know about that Zoe." AB sighed getting up. "I've gotta go pack for the worst summer ever." Zoe gave her friend a hug before they both went their separate ways. Zoe was just happy she didn't have to leave this summer. In fact since she left New York last summer she hadn't heard from her mom and she was ok with that.

"What are you doing here?" Zoe asked sitting by Wade on the steps of her house.

"Looking for you." Wade stated like it was obvious. "I stopped at the practice and your dad said you left over an hour ago and that was like 45 minutes ago."

"Oh well I ran into Lavon and it took some time to catch up with him then AB was looking all sad because she has to live on a ranch in Texas for the summer." Zoe explained leaning into him.

"AB on a ranch. Now that's a funny thought." Wade laughed earning himself a slap. But Zoe was quick to join in.

"It would be funny to see but we're not suppose to be laughing at her."

"We're not laughing at her Zo, just the thought of it. So it's all good." Zoe rolled her eyes at the weak point Wade made.

"Oh tell your mom we'll be there Wednesday night." Zoe wanted to changed the topic.

"Will do. I gotta get back to my dad. I was only suppose to be gone 20 minutes tops." Zoe shoved Wade off in a playful manner going into the house. She wanted to feel bad for AB but life was full of new experiences and AB needed this. Zoe had to do the same thing last summer. Zoe wasn't gonna worry about it though this summer she had no worries, she could really enjoy it.
