Sonic and his friends were defeated. They lost everything, their homes, their planet, and their lives. Now overlanders most stand up and fight for them equipped only with the powers and guidance of the fallen heroes gifted to them. It's a fight to end the darkness that has encased the planet. But can mere children succeed where heroes have failed?

26. It's Only the End of the World

The Wielders of Chaos part 26

"It's Only the End of the World,"

Miles and Tony quickly dash through the lush jungle of Angel Island. It was a stark contrast to the rest of the world being that it may be the only place on Earth with any greenery left. The lush vegetation and wind in the air gave the place a feeling of peace and calmness. It was very refreshing feeling the wind blow through the air and the scent of the fresh outdoors instead of the suffocating harsh air down below. Even with the odd vegetation around them. The giant mushrooms and the thick massive tree trunks surrounding them. If one didn't know any better they'd find it hard to believe the world was coming to an end soon. But it was, and it was a race against time to secure the one thing that might tip the scales. The Master Emerald, the most powerful of all the mystical gems, with power so great it could manipulate the very energy of the Chaos Emeralds and the very Chaos Force itself. It was actually unknown just how powerful the gem was as the Seven Chaos Emeralds could create miracles or bestow the user with potentially unlimited energy. The Master Emerald is supposed to be so much more and then some. They absolutely needed that gem. However, getting it was not going to be easy. They'd have to get past Enerjak, a crazed Chaos Demigod with all sorts of crazy power. Taking him on with the limited numbers they possessed would be suicide. So locating the Master Emerald was the plan at this point in time which is why Tony is leading the way as they run through the jungle.

"Where was the last place you stashed it Knux?" Sonic questions.

"Well I kept it deep underground originally…but after all the stuff that happened with Eggman I was forced to relocate it to other places. It's been hard to find a really safe place for it…" Knuckles explains.

"Well where is it Knux?" Sonic repeats with a slightly frustrated tone.

"That's what I'm trying to say. I relocate it pretty often after all I do go off to help out your blue butt from time to time. I can't keep it one place for too long makes me feel uneasy. It's tough to say the last place I stashed it since it has been a year since I've been back."

"Some guardian…"

"WHAT WAS THAT!?"

"Sounds like we're just spinning our wheels then and not going much anywhere…" Miles mutters skidding to stop from his high speed run. Tony was surprised by his sudden as he slams his heels in the dirt to come to force himself to a halt. He was leading the way so he didn't realize that Miles would be stopping.

Tony takes a moment to catch his breath before looking at Miles, "Well we can just follow our intuition then. Chaos Demigod isn't that hard to find…"

"We're trying to avoid him remember."

"Yeah but the signal from the Master Emerald and from him is getting so garbled up I can't tell which is which anymore. But it's not like they're that far apart from each other. Why not go see one and then maybe we'll get lucky."

"I don't like it, but we may have to do it that way. My senses are being overpowered here since I've never been around so much Chaos energy before. I can't discern a tree from a rock around here since it's all connected with the Master Emerald."

"Don't worry I'll lead us in the right direction."

"Why did you come here anyway Tony, you knew this was dangerous didn't you?"

"Knuckles sounded really concerned and I guess his instinct became mine. I rushed off without a thought…" Tony shakes his head. "But we've already been through this I said I'm sorry. It seemed really important to Knuckles."

"I mean, I get that I do. I'm just kinda surprised you would stick your neck out like that."

Tony to his credit seemed a bit offended by the implication, "Why wouldn't I?"

"I mean with so much of what's going on not having anything to do with you. You say you're not even from this world right?"

"That's true…but I'm here now. I wasn't exactly interested in getting mixed up with all this. I still don't honestly, but I've messed up by getting attached to you guys. I feel sorry for this place, and even if it doesn't affect me personally it does affect you guys."

"So you care about us huh?" Miles question with a raised eyebrow.

"Don't make it sound like I'm a big ol softy!" Tony exclaims with his arms folded. "I mean it's like you said I'm not from here. But no one has made a big deal about it or treated me like an outsider. Hard to stay indifferent that way ya know."

"So you got suckered in huh?"

"You could make that argument. You, Rob, Knuckles, and all the others. Hate to say it but I've grown attached. Might be the rad red's soft side rubbing off on me or something…."

"Soft side?" Knuckles questions. "I don't know what that means kid. The only thing transferred to you are my abilities and skills. I'm still me and you're still you. Don't go trying to pawn off this mushy stuff as me."

Tony's face goes red, "Thanks for that Knuckles!"

"I get it," Miles says with a smirk. "Thanks all the same, you didn't need to, but you did. That makes you a real hero ya know."

"I said knock it off already!" Tony huffs with crossed arms. "I'm doing what I want nothing more and nothing less. Besides Mephiles could be a potential problem for other worlds too. Better to nip this then letting him go uncheck"

"Do ya think we might be able to convince Enerjak to help us?" Sonic asks.

"Highly unlikely…you remember when I was Enerjak how unreasonable I was…" Knuckles says with a tone of regret lacing his words.

"That was just a personality trait."

"HEY!"

"But even so, whoever Enerjak is there may still remain a shred of who they are. If the person was unreasonable before, then they definitely are now. Either way we may have no choice in talking to them in the end." Sonic finishes and they're sure if they could see the blue hedgehog he would be shrugging his shoulders.

"Well I'm picking up the signals thataway," Tony says pointing to his right. "They're practically right next to each other and with these emeralds on us I'm sure we won't be able to sneak up on him."

"Direct approach it is then, lead the way." Miles gestures. Tony nods before rushing off quickly and Miles follows on his heels. It never ceased to surprise Miles how fast Tony actually is with Knuckles speed. Nowhere near as fast as him but still pretty quick to his credit. The two tear through the jungle until the reach what appeared to be a bunch of ruins.

"What is this place?" Tony asks.

"New Echidnaopolis, a place where my kind could dwell. It was…damaged during my time as Enerjak. My people were then transported to old Echidnaopolis which wasn't in much better shape. Why would the signal be here?" Knuckles questions.

"Why would it not make sense for the Emerald to be here?" comes a powerful distorted voice from above. They all look up to see an alter crafted on the highest pillar of the ruins. An echidna covered head to toe in black and gold. Large golde twin knuckles spikes, a black helmet, black gloves, long white dreads leaking from the helmet with a wicked smile shining beneath the helmet. "As it will soon be the center of the new society I plan to recreate once Mephiles has ravaged the rest of the world…"

"Whoa…so that's…Enerjak huh…" Tony gasps sliding back on his feet.

"Greetings children, so glad to finally meet you both face to face. The hero of the planet and the late Guardian of the Master Emerald, it is nice to see you here as well."

"Why do you and the Master Emerald give off the same signal!? Even if you accessed its powers it shouldn't be possibly to harmonize with it like this."

"Ah, there is many things you have yet to learn about the power of this gem. With time and research I was able to synchronize with the Master Emerald. It's power becoming my own. Unlike you're run as Enerjak I will not need to recharge my strength as limitless power is at my fingertips!"

"Then I don't understand," Miles says stepping forward. "Why not combat Mephiles or give us a fighting chance?"

"Mephiles is a force of nature, with my power came understanding, and the bigger picture has become clearer. Originally I did plan to expel Mephiles once my birth came to be, but I see things in a different light. Mephiles is a product of humanity trying to control powers beyond themselves, the Solaris Project. What good would saving a humanity be if they were to just recreate a problem like this again. A never ending cycle of chaos and follies. No in the bigger picture it is better to curb this curiosity. Allow Mephiles to wipe away the fools below and when all seems lost I shall give them refuge. A peace and prosperity unlike any other."

"So you just want to be worshipped!?" Knuckles barks.

"No Guardian, I want them to know their place. Allow the society I create to flourish, with Mephiles unable to reach it."

"Sounds like something a coward would do!?"

"Well of course you would say something like that Guardian, there is a reason the Brotherhood is all but nonexistent, and our kind has been dwindled down. Preservation, survival, that is the way to win in the end."

"Well I guess that's our answer," Miles remarks with folded arms. "Enerjak is neutral, though wemay not agree with it, it does mean he isn't an enemy. We may as well just leave the Master Emerald in his care."

"WHAT!" Tony and Knuckles yell in outrage.

"No way, this jerk is not going to call dibs on the emerald that's not even his. Besides you can't feel what I'm feeling and it feels… sinister."

"Besides would you feel comfortable with this guy having the very emerald that can control the Chaos Emeralds in his possession?!" Knuckles adds.

"You're missing the part of what we can do about it guys!" Miles exclaims he then turns to Enerjak. "I understand you won't help us, but you won't interfere with our fight against Mephiles will you?"

Enerjak is silent a few moments with a hand to his chin. He then floats down from atop his throne/alter to float down to the ground before them. "It would benefit me little to take your petty Chaos Emeralds. However…thinking on this if you did succeed in defeating Mephiles or at the very least create a great deal of hope it would render the future I hope to create moot. I will respect your request to not interfere as long as you allow the world to fall to ruin just a bit more. Then when my society comes to be whether you win or lose matters not to me. Do we have an agreement?"

"Hell no!" Knuckles barks.

"Yeah that is not a deal we will take." Tony growls.

"Sorry, but there is no way that's happening after all the hardwork we've put in so far," Sonic adds.

Miles sighs, "Guess there was no chance this wasn't going to happen…"

Enerjak begins to crackle as Chaos energy surrounds his body. Miles is quick to pull himself and Tony back a few meters a burst of chaos energy explodes out of Enerjak. The two immediately separate as a torrent of chaos energy tears through the ground towards them. They both quickly move in on Enerjak with as unmoved as ever. Miles rushes in with a spin attack. Enerjak stops the attack with one hand easily holding him back. Miles tries to increase his speed of the spin but it does nothing to making Enerjak give in. Enerjak gives Miles a brief shove that completely throws him back still in spin form as he crashes into a bunch of ruins. Enerjak turns to block Tony's spiked fist then shoves him back in the chest. Tony works against the force of the shove as he floats back slightly before bringing himself to the ground to rush forward with a flurry of punches. Enerjak raises a shield to block Tony's barrage of blows. Enerjak suddenly harnesses a black fire like energy around his fist to push his palm into Tony's chest. This time the force being that much greater as he goes flying back until he crashes into the ground. Enerjak turns back to see Miles rushing him again. Then Miles suddenly vanishes however Enerjak briefly turns swinging his fist upwards smashing the back of his fist into Miles' face. Miles staggers holding his nose in his hands groaning in pain. Enerjak quickly moves in with his fist pulled back the knuckles protrude out from his fist. Miles notices at the last second before flashing away in a burst of speed gone in an instant. Enerjak quickly about turns throwing a spear of black energy from his hand. It was heading towards Tony who was coming in for a surprise attack. Luckily Tony reacts quickly twisting his body to the side in midair avoiding the spear. Suddenly Enerjak rushes Tony making Tony summon his spike knuckled gloves. He pulls back as if preparing to meet Enerjak head on. But suddenly Miles appears between them curls up just as Tony swings forward.

Enerjak is taken by surprise as he brings his arms up to block the fast attack launched at him. Miles bounces off but Tony is quick to follow up with a downward hammer punch that Enerjak was quick to raise a hand to stop. Enerjak raises his own fist to send at Tony but shockingly Tony stops the attack from connecting. Enerjak balks clearly startled. As the two struggle for a moment Enerjak recovers the upper quickly flying down and slamming Tony face first into the ground. Once his grip is gone Enerjak raises his hand covered in dark fire like chaos energy. Miles is quick to rush in with a spin attack but with a mere flick of his wrist Miles' trajectory of his attack was changed as he smashed into the ground. Then flung away with another flick.

"I see now that it is dangerous to keep you around after all Guardian."

"Why because the Master Emerald was calling out to us through you!?" Tony barks in response as he raises up on his arms. Enerjak doesn't immediately responds. "Yeah thought we didn't feel that, well we did. The Master Emerald is crying out to us, to be saved, because it's power is being abused."

"The Servants are the Seven Chaos," black fire surrounds Enerjak's hands.

"That spell…" Knuckles gasps.

"What spell?" Tony questions.

"Tony move!"

"R-Right!" Tony rolls along the ground avoiding a blast of dark chaos energy from coming down on him.

"I need you to repeat after me Tony, we need to counter that spell!"

"O-Okay…" Tony responds holding up his hands to summon the spiked fist. He rushes Enerjak head on pulling back his fist. "…The Severs are the Seven Chaos."

"Chaos is power controlled by my will." Enerjak knocks Tony back with a powerful back hand strike. But somehow Tony found the strength to push through the attack and swing a heavy blow into Enerjak's chest.

"…Chaos is power enriched by the heart!"

"The Controller exists to enslave the Chaos!"

"The Controller exists to unify the Chaos!"

Fist met fist as the two collided in a brilliant flash of light that cancelled each other out. Tony clenched his eyes shut before looking down at his hands covered in what appeared like green fire. "W-What is this!?"

"The power of Chaos, the Master Emerald is still with us. His spell is strong but I think we might be able to break it in order to depower him!"

"Got it!" Tony cups his hands together rushing forward to deliver a heavy blow into a still surprised Enerjak. The blow was actually powerful enough to knock the demi-god back into a solid rock wall. "Oh yeah, I can get used to this!"

"I suggest you don't." Enerjak states stepping out the rock wall brushing off the dirt. "That was surprising but it will not happen again. You are a novice with this power and I don't intend to allow you to live long enough to get used to these powers."

"Well tough, no one asked you!" Tony exclaims rushing head on. He dives Enerjak fist leading only to be flung into the ground like Miles was. Tony points his hand following Knuckles' instructions. "…Chaos Spear!" Green spears leap out the fire towards Enerjak who easily bats them away with a brush of his hand.

"Will you stop flinging me all over the place!" Miles says suddenly smashing into the side of Enerjak's head and knocking off his helmet. "Ha!"

"Oh…my gosh…its…its…"

"You have no idea who that is…" Miles states dryly with an eye roll.

"Neither do you!" Tony retorts.

"That's Dr. Finetivus…" Knuckles growls with clear disdain in his voice.

"Who is that?" Tony questions.

"A scientist and expert in the mystical arts of Chaos," Finetivus responds with his voice less distorted without the helmet. He had black lined markings on his face and an extremely pale complexion. His eyes though were looking quite crazed with a shining green flourishing through them. "And the new Enerjak this world needs to cleanse it of this chaotic world."

"Cleanse?" Miles questions.

"The maniac views the world as being too corrupt to be saved. I assumed Mephiles wiping out the planet is something he sees as a necessary evil in order to rebuild the world better or some bull crap like that." Knuckles explain.

"This doctor needs a doctor if ya ask me. Being Enerjak already messes with your head, but even before that he was a few cards short a full deck." Sonic says weighing in his opinion.

"Geniuses are often misunderstood. But that is of no concern, you failed heroes have had your chance and have lost. I felt your essence appear through the Chaos Force, no doubt some powerful entity forced you all into being. However, even if the very will of Chaos decides to go against Mephiles my dream will still come to be!"

"You really are nuts aren't you!?" Tony exclaims.

"Ya have to ask?" Sonic questions.

Dr. Finetivus places his helmet back on his head as black chaos energy surrounds his body. Miles and Tony quickly leap into action ducking and dodging a barrage of Chaos Arrows being launched from the crazed chaos demi-god. Tony does his best using his newfound power to deflect the attacks. Planting his feet he begins swing away deflected arrow after arrow in well-practiced punches. It was as if muscle memory had taken over or maybe even Knuckles had swapped with Tony. However, the immense pressure of the barrage was too much for him to keep it up for long.

"He's pinned," Miles mutters diving then landing on his hands to throw himself into a one handed back hand spring. His other hand reaches for the emerald on his belt. "Chaos Control!" His emerald shines brightly before Miles vanishes appearing behind Tony then touching his back to warp away again.

"Impressive, your use of Chaos Control is fairly skilled despite being under the tutelage of Sonic. A rather frustrating creature that goes beyond my comprehension!" Enerjak raises a hand pulling back as if about to throw a spear. A large portion of chaos energy builds up into the black energy spear which he throws. He scores a direct hit on Miles as he and Tony just appeared in that spot. Miles lets out a cry of agony as he collapses to the ground.

"MILES!" Tony yells in terror seeing his friend suddenly go down. It was all happening way too fast for him. He was deflecting spears, the next second he's not, and the very next second Miles is on the ground seemingly unconscious passed on the fact he wasn't moving. Tony quickly drops to his knees wincing at the scorch mark on Miles' back before checking to see if he was alright. Like Tony thought he is unconscious, but breathing. "Least he's alive…"

"A conundrum honestly." Enerjak states approaching his arms folded behind his back. "Any other creature would've died, or suffer a much worse wound. Yet he seems relatively unphased. Such is the untapped power of Sonic…"

"I don't care about that! You hurt my friend so now you're gonna get hurt!" Tony yells before rushing fist ready and chaos energy around his fist. However, his first strike was easily caught in Enerjak's hand.

"It is mystifying. It makes sense for you to have access to the Chaos Force, after all your connection with the Guardian is rather strong along with your Chaos Emerald. You may not realize it at the moment since I can tell this is the first time you've used these powers but the Chaos Force is in great flux. The power is more difficult to draw from then it ever has been. As if sealing itself off. This leaves those, myself included, for limited energy to draw from."

"I don't care about that crap!" Tony exclaims pulling back from the grab. He quickly performs a combat roll then jumps up to deliver a hammer punch. Enerjak raises a hand stopping Tony in midair then Enerjak swings his hand down dropping Tony to the unforgiving ground hard.

"You really should. Because I present to you an oddity. Why is it that everyone else is limited in their access to the Chaos Force, yet Sonic and his Carrier have complete access to it?"

"Like I said…I don't care…about that crap…" Tony growls as he tries to rise to his feet under the pressure that Enerjak was placing on him. He didn't know how he was going to beat Enerjak but he knew he needed to at least hold off longer than this. Enerjak stares him down a few moments before glancing over to Miles who still lays unconscious.

"Well I suppose my words are wasted on you. But I still intend to fully understand Sonic's relationship with the Chaos Force. I shall offer you another deal and I suggest you think carefully on it this time. I shall allow you to live, for your friends to keep their emeralds, and even stop Mephiles as soon as you are able if you wish. But I want you to leave the boy here with me."

"What…?" Tony utters in shock.

"You may leave and continue with your plans as long as you leave him here. A rather fairer deal in my opinion."

"And…what do you plan on doing with him?"

"The only way to prove or disprove a hypothesis is through experimentation."

"You…" Tony pauses before his teeth mash and his fist clench tightly. Fire suddenly consumes his right fist and sparks of lighting cover his left. "You think…" Tony suddenly rises to his feet surprising Enerjak. "You think I'd turn on my friend like that!" Tony hollers at the top of his lungs as he starts to enter a slug fest with Enerjak as the punching bag. He opens with a straight jab throwing the demi god into the ground sliding in the dirt. Enerjak sinks his fingers into the dirt to anchor himself before managing to get his feet under him. Tony rushes him head on delivering a heavy hammer punch that echoed out like thunder with the sparks of lighting dancing off his fist giving extra affect. Then following with a right cross across Enerjak's face knocking the helmet off to fully see the shocked face underneath. The face soon contorts into pure fury.

"Like Guardian, like Carrier…spoiled with power…" he growls as the two enter fist fight of equal footing. Their fists crash into each other creating shockwaves with each impact. Knuckles cheering for Tony the entire time saying he is so awesomely proud of his carrier. Going toe-to-toe with this monster. Chaos Energy seeping out from them as they clash head on.

"You say run, well let me show what real power is!" Tony exclaims.

"Chaos is Power!" Tony and Finetivus exclaim as their fists meet again in another clash.

"The Servers are the Seven Chaos!"

"The Servants are the Seven Chaos!"

"Power enslaved by my will!" Finetivus presses almost overpowering Tony for a moment.

"Power enriched by the heart!" Tony counters driving his elbow into Finetivus' gut throwing him back.

"The Controller exists to enslave the Chaos!"

"The Controller is the one who unifies the Chaos!"

"Chaos…" the two of them began as the grapple with one another Chaos energy flying in random directions tearing the ground around them. "Control!"

The blast of energy that follows is startling as Tony goes flying backwards with smoke covering his body as he crashes to the ground in a heap spread eagle on the ground. He gasps for air huffing and puffing trying to catch his breath. He lets out a few coughs chocking on air wincing at his lungs inability to satiate his need for air. It felt like he was trying to holding his breath while trying to run a mile but then all at once air comes rushing in.

"Impressive…" Finetivus groans as he stands with a limp. His outfit tattered and dirty revealing the bandages underneath the cloak. He holds a hand to his side grunting in sharp pain before his eyes land on Tony with distaste. "Spoiled with so much power…yet still so blind…I shall end you here and now."

"I…I tried Knuckles…" Tony gasps. He couldn't move a finger after spending every ounce of strength he had for that last assault.

"Hey kid don't talk like that…remember we aren't the only ones on this island…"

"Heaven's Justice!" Suddenly a blast of lighting comes shooting out at Finetivus. The weakened foe was surprised but responded by stopping the attack with his bare hands while his feet slide in the dirt against the pressure of the blast.

"Huh?" Tony tilts his head up to see someone running before leaping over him to fly towards Finetivus. "Is that…that Eddie guy?"

"Tony! Miles!" Rob's voice calls out in panic. Tony feels himself being lifted up to come face to face with a panicked Rob. "Are you okay!?"

"Heh, you should see the other guy…" Tony responds with a smirk.

"Ugh, you'll be fine then. We felt the tremors from the fight from the biplane. I managed to explain things but it's up in the air if we can get any help at all. The island isn't exactly an easy place to get to," Rob looks over to see Eddie battling the weakened Enerjak. "Looks like you did a number on him at least."

"Don't let the looks deceive you…it took every ounce of my strength to just hurt him. Not enough to beat him. Eddie better have some crazy skills to stop him."

"Be gone you knat!" Finetivus exclaims slamming his palm into Eddie's chest knocking him back and into a wall.

"Jeez Tikal…I know you said you didn't have much physical strength…but what the heck…" Eddie responds peeling himself off the wall.

"I had strongly advised against a frontal assault if you remember…" Tikal says with a clear sigh in her voice.

"Come on let's try and hold him off!" Rob says taking flight with his twin tails.

"Even the so called 'Chosen One' is nothing to me at this point. Especially when you are far removed from your element!" Finetivus shoots a fireball of green energy into Rob's chest knocking the wind out of him and dropping him. Eddie is quick to catch him though before he can hit the ground.

"Yeah…we may hold him off for like a minute…" Eddie grunts in annoyance.

"Prepare to die you pitiful creatures!" Finetivus begins to charge up for another strike before he stops short. His eyes travel over each person before he jerks his head back towards an empty spot. "Oh no…"

"Oh yeah…didn't I mention Doc…" Tony smirks jabbing a thumb at the Master Emerald. "I was a distraction." They all see a blur rushing towards the Master Emerald at top speed.

"NO!" Enerjak exclaims.

"Rob…" Tony mutters. Rob turns to his friend to see him hold up a small green gem.

"Right we can use that to call your friends!" Eddie exclaims smacking his head at forgetting the object. "Okay let's be quick while Enerjak is distracted."

With Miles he rushes toward the emerald but he can feel Enerjak right on his heels now. Suddenly a warp ring appears in front of him as Enerjak appears to blindside him. Miles was quick to respond as his determination pushed him. He uses his built up speed and inertia to slam into Enerjak knocking him back through his own warp ring.

"This better work Sonic…" Miles says leaping out to place a hand on the Master Emerald. It was almost instant as if the energy was calling to him the entire time. Miles's Chaos Emerald responds to it instantly as well. Miles' bright blue Chaos Emerald transforms into a golden emerald as he felt a sudden lurch of power coarse through his veins.

"Alright Miles…or should I say Super Miles, let's do this!" Super Sonic's power was now his own and Miles was astonished. He had to look at his own hands being completely taken aback.

"I sealed the Master Emeralds' power this should not be. Impossible all completely impossible!" Enerjak yells shooting forth a barrage of Chaos Spears. They all smash into Miles as he was distracted flinging him into the ground harshly.

Miles winces before a sudden realization sets in. "I…didn't even feel that…"

"Invulnerability…now let's show him what we can really do." Miles stands to his feet easily eyes focused on Enerjak. Then in a rush of speed beyond anything he's every been able to accomplish he is in Enerjak's face. He was moving faster than he anticipated so he ends up speed tackling the demigod forcing them to crash through layers of ruins before Enerjak brought them to a stop.

"I cannot lose to you!"

"Too bad you will anyway," Miles responds slamming his palm into Enerjak's chest. The force behind it was greater than Miles expected as well. The pressure from the blow enough to send Enerjak flying backwards several feet. The demigod recovers before shooting into the air and raising his hands.

"I will bring the heavens down on you!"

"Wonder what Chaos Control can do while super…" Miles mutters. Enerjak launches a tirade of green spears from the sky raining down from every direction. "Chaos Control."

At that moment time stopped instantly. Not to a crawl like it normally would, but a full stop. Miles stares in wonder seeing the world frozen all around him.

"Now fly up there and wail on him!"

"I can fly?!"

"Go for it."

Miles simply followed Sonic's instructions as he leaps upwards not really feeling himself resisting gravity's pull but he felt….something. It was difficult to describe since he had no idea what flight felt like. But he was in front of Enerjak now. He grabbed the scruff of his collar before pulling back his fist.

"Let's see if I can sap out his power," Miles says placing a hand on Enerjak's chest before his emerald responds shining brightly along with the Master Emerald. "What was that spell that Tony used…" Miles begins pondering. "Oh whatever, Chaos Control!"

"Okay we're here to…to…" Sol exclaims just as everyone exits the swirling green vortex that had called them there to Angel Island. They had all gathered there but were startled to see that things were calm. She then looks to see Rob, Eddie, and Tony staring up into the sky. Everyone follows their gaze to gape up as Miles floats back down to the ground dropping a depowered Finetivus. "Miles?" she questions unsure.

"Yeah," He responds plainly unsure with the weird looks. Honestly he didn't look that different besides the glowing gold aura, the red eyes, and golden emerald on his belt. "Okay, uh Sonic how do I turn this off?"

"I've got an idea before we power down…" Sonic says with a smirk in his voice.

"Commander Tower! Commander Tower!" an agent comes rushing up to the commander who silently staring off into space in deep thought. He slowly turns to the agent.

"What is it?"

"Sir, outside, you have to see this!" he seemed rather excited while at the same time apprehensive.

"Agent, we don't have time for-,"

"Sir, you have to see this!" He presses this fact. Few agents would be so short with him unless the situation was dire.

Tower sighs as he stands up feeling like a parent who is humoring their child. He supposes the agent may have a good reason for lack of self-control. After a brief walk they exit the base for Tower to see pretty much all of Central City staring up into the sky. He's confused until he himself looks up. What he sees shocks him as well.

"Is that…Angel Island…?" he questions astonished. Suddenly a golden light flies out from the top of the island and towards the dark clouds above. The golden light explodes in the sky splitting the clouds. Then…the golden light was overtaken by another golden light. Even bigger, brighter, and…warmer. "The sun…" Tower had become so used to looking up and seeing those dark clouds that seeing the sun. Actual sunshine was honest to god spirit lifting. The clouds weren't closing it up either. It was staying open and the sun was shining down on them again. Tower smiled holding his arms out and embracing the warmth. For the first time in such a long year that felt more like a nightmare, he felt hope.

"Commander," a voice spoke up. Tower was slow to pull away from the embrace of the sun but he does open his eyes to see a shining Miles in front of him. "Like the present."

"Did you-,"

"Warp Angel Island here and use the Master Emerald's power to open up the clouds. Yep, sure did, and honestly I still feel great. Being super is awesome!"

"Well glad you've got the practice now let's bring the sun back to the whole world."

Miles smiles as finally powers down. He seems surprised at the loss of power but feels relief with having his feet on the ground again. At the same time the others have finally caught up with him from a green vortex that came from the island. Tower stares as he sees everyone walking out of the vortex. With Tony being carried by DJ and the unconscious form of Finetivus being dragged by Frost. "We're finally ready to end this world of darkness."
