Crawford burst into my room and shook me around to wake me. I tried to ignore him as much as possible before he got up on Kate's bed and pretty much body slammed himself onto me. I sat up quickly glowering at him as he lay on top of me.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! ARE YOU A SNORLAX OR SOMETHING?!" I cried as he sat up and gave me a big cheeky smile. Damn this guy really knows how to wake a person. I took a glance at my clock and realized it was 5am. Seriously this better be important otherwise I'm kicking him out of my room and leaving his ass with a permanent footprint scarred into it. Yeah I get that pissed about being woken up!
"Good morning Ranger Samson!" he saluted as I rubbed my eyes before continuing to stare him down. "I know. I know. You hate being woken up, Kate warned me, but it's really important that you head out to Pueltown now. Something strange has been happening to the pokemon in town." he explained before I slid my legs off my bed and went into the bathroom, grabbing my uniform on the way in. After changing I head out into the main base where my grandpa and Barlow stood.
"Hey there Alexa." Barlow greeted.
"Hey what are you two doing back here? Grandpa I thought you were suppose to be giving a big presentation today." I wondered. He sighed and shrugged.
"The Pueltown pokemon are blocking the path, so I had to come back and I postponed the meeting." My grandfather told me before Barlow called everyone.
"Okay rangers! There have been sightings of those strange machines in Pueltown. Kate and Alexa you two go and take out those machines while Crawford and Luana check on the people who may have been injured." he ordered.
"YES LEADER!" we responded, breaking our circle and heading off.
When we got to Pueltown there were a bunch of groups of pokemon, following a circular pattern, hypnotized by a high pitched ringing which stung my ears. I held my head for a second to steady myself, but no one else seemed bothered by the noise. I hated to be a nuisance but I couldn't think straight. Kate, Crawford and Luana took out all the machines on the west side of town. Leaving me to clear the rest and try not to pass out.
"AHH!" A scream of a young girl caused me to break into a run. Soon I found myself standing in front of a pack of pokemon who surrounded a young blond girl.
"Melody!" Someone called out. A man with pink hair ran up and hopped into the centre of the circle where Melody was trapped. "Um that wasn't a good idea..." he muttered. This guy must be a genius if he thought jumping into the situation was going to save her.
"Wait! Isn't Melody Isaac's little sister?!" I suddenly realized. I ran over to the machine and before I even thought about capturing a pokemon to destroy it, I gave it my best side kick. The machine's shell shattered and all the pokemon snapped out of their trance and scattered. "Are you two okay" I asked as Melody let go of the man. At this point I didn't even bother with my foot that was lodged into through the centre of the machine. What can I say, my friend's family is my family. Melody nodded and gave me a smile.
"Thank you very much! I'm Brook! And this is Melody." He introduced.
"Yeah you're Isaac's little sister right?" She nodded, continuing to smile. Wow I'm surprised I didn't recognize her earlier... Nice one Alexa. "Well then I'm glad I was able to help."
"Um Alexa?" I looked down as Melody whispered quietly to me. "Did you realize that your leg is stuck in that machine...?" She tilted her head. Damn. I knew it was in there but I was hoping no one would really pay attention to it.
"Yeah... I kinda noticed..." I muttered in embarrassment, my face turning a light shade of pink. "Don't worry about it! I'll get out. As for you two, you should head inside just in case there is another machine around here somewhere." I tried to act as heroic as I could but I'm sure I just looked like an idiot. Haha
Brook and Melody went off and I stood examining my leg. I could hear Crawford laughing from behind me as well as a couple laughs from Kate.
"Yo Samson! Looks like you're in a bit of a jam there!" I glared at him as he approached.
"I can do without the jokes Afrohead!" I snapped. Luana and Kate managed to get my leg out but there was a bunch of scrapes and bruises.
"You're a hazard on two legs since becoming a ranger Lexa..." Kate sighed. "Anyways. Crawford, how about you and I go check the bridge area and Luana... Just make sure this one doesn't fall off the pier and search over there." Luana wrapped her arm around my shoulders and gave Kate a reassuring smile.
"I could do with a little more support Kate." I muttered as Luana began dragging me off. After a short time walking Luana and I came to the pier where a few boats were anchored.
"Come on! It's not that heavy!" A few scattered voice came from the other side of the pier. We crept up to see a bunch of people who wore black uniforms with some sort of weird purple design across the front of it.
Four of these people were surrounding a machine similar to the ones found in town but this one seemed a bit sturdier and it was yellow. They struggled to lift it several times before falling to their backs.
"You weaklings! The test is over and we have to get this last Gigaremo out of here before those pesky rangers show up!" One man said. He looked like he was in charge of the ones trying to lift the machine.
"Psst Luana. Should we intervene?" I whispered to my partner who stood beside me. She shrugged and slipped out a little more for a better look. Her foot caught on mine and she fell out in the open.
"Well well it seems we have a little company!" the admin announced, his grunts jumping up and facing us. Well I guess it's too late to go back for backup. Luana jumped up, aiming her styler at the group and I joined her.
"Tell us what you are up to before we catch you and force out an explanation!" I growled. The group began to laugh and we looked at each other confused.
"Are we missing something?" Luana asked me and I shrugged.
"I don't think so."
The admin stepped forward and gave us a pose of superiority. "We, Team Dimsun, the future rulers of Almia will not lose to simple rangers such as yourselves." This guy was already starting to piss me off. A Toxicroak leapt out from the shadows and charged towards us.
"Really? You want to play it that way huh?" I looped my styler around the pokemon, hitting only a few minor snags before completing my capture. After I did so the grunts picked up the machine they called a Gigaremo and hopped onto a nearby boat.
"You may have beat me, but this was only the beginning!" The admin called out as he jumped into the boat and it sped away.
"Oh no you don't!" Brook ran past us and dove into the water and swam after the boat, his flip flops secured in his mouth.
"Um... That was weird? Do you know him?" Luana asked.
"Barely." Was all I could say as I watched him swim after the boat. Just as the boat broke the horizon Brook turned back.
"Sorry.. I couldn't catch them..." he muttered as he pulled himself out of the water and trudged his way over to us.
"It's okay Brooke. Let's head back into town and meet up with the others." I offered as Luana and I led him back into town. There we found Crawford, Kate, Barlow and Professor Hastings.
"Well done rangers." Barlow greeted. Luana proceeded to brief everyone on what had happen on the dock.
"So these machines are called Gigaremos? Is that how you say it?" Crawford asked. Luana and I nodded.
"Team Dimsun... Quite an unusual name but they are definitely a threat if they are the ones who have created these machines." My grandfather muttered as he pulled out a notepad and jot down a few notes. "I'll add this information to the presentation."
"Okay mission cleared for today kids so why don't you head back to base. The professor and I will head to the meeting. " He announced. Before long everyone began to make their way back. I turned to leave but Barlow stopped me.
"Not you Samson. I'm gonna ask that you come along and answer some question about the encounter." Barlow explained as he led my grandfather and I to the bridge that connects Pueltown to Altru Park. The bridge was put up because of the pokemon attacks and it was still up.
"Alexa? By any chance have you seen Brook?" My grandfather asked me.
"Haven't seen him since the encounter with Dimsun. Why?"
"Damn that idiot! He has the bridge key!" Barlow yelled in frustration. Brook ran up a few minutes later.
"Sorry there I forgot I had to put the bridge back down." He went into a small room beside the bridge and fiddled around with some controls.
"Anytime now Brook!" Barlow called out and then Brooke crept out as if he had done something wrong.
"I don't have the key..." He muttered quietly.
"WHAT?!" We all shouted simultaneously.
"I-I-I must have dropped it w-w-when I jumped in the water to chase after the boat." Brook stuttered.
"Ugh... What are we gonna do?" Barlow asked before an idea seemed to pop into his head. "I have a quest for you ranger!"
"W-W-W-What? You're joking! No way am I gonna be able to get that key! It's at the bottom of the ocean if you haven't noticed!" I cried. No way am I going into the Sharpedo infested ocean!
"We have special equipment so you can breathe under water. I just need you to swim down there and scoop it up. Come on Squirt!" He practically begged.
"N. O. That spells NO!" As far as I know they have no idea about the Summerland incident, but there is no way I'm doing it.
"Alexa. I need you to do this." Barlow said to me straight. I don't want to go but... I am a ranger and it is my duty to do these kinds of things. Ugh I can't believe I'm actually thinking of this.
"Fine I'll do it but I better get some sour gummy worms when I get back." I muttered as he handed me the Aqualung. We walked over to the pier and I borrow one of the shops bikinis. Yes I'm performing a ranger mission in a bikini.
I left Pichu in Barlow's hands and Brooke took me out to the spot in the ocean where he thinks he may have dropped it.
"Let's get this over with..." I thought before slipping on the Aqualung and jumping into the water. I dove down and swam passed a bunch of different water type pokemon. Something glinted on the bottom and I spotted the key. I began swimming to the bottom when I stopped suddenly. I was only a few feet away from the key and about the biggest Sharpedo I have ever seen.
"As if..." I muttered as I watched the Sharpedo glower at the key. It picked it up in it's mouth and seemed to become really uncomfortable. Oh no I think it swallowed it. The Sharpedo began swimming off so I quickly captured a Mantine to chase after it. Eventually I cornered the pokemon and calmed it down with a capture.
"It's okay... I'm gonna get that key out, so just carefully open your mouth." I thought. I was gonna say it but I couldn't guarantee that Sharpedo was even listening. Suddenly it stopped moving and carefully opened its mouth. Wow that was lucky.
I looked in to and saw the key stuck between two of the pokemon's back teeth. I took a chance and reached in, gently dislodging the key. The Sharpedo instantly seemed happier and swam around me.
"I'm glad you feel better!" I cheered as it gestured for me to hold onto it. I grabbed onto its fins and it swam to the surface where I greeted Brook. He pulled me onto the boat and I waved goodbye to Sharpedo.
"Thank you..." I heard as I turned away. I was startled when I turned to see that no one was there.
"I thought I heard someone speak..." I muttered before Brook started up the boat and we headed back to port.
