VIII. A twist in my story
Over three months passed away. Other events were possible for Darren and Lauren was luckily able to go there to support him. She listened to the song Darren wrote for her, afterwards. It wasn't the way Darren planned it; but she loved it and that was enough for him. They both were happier. Although they didn't want to realize, just the fact of being around each other made them better people. They enjoyed spending time together. It could be from watching a movie in bed, tasting Lauren's delights made on the kitchen, Darren would wrap an arm around her and she'd snuggle against his chest as the sad moment of the movie came up, and eventually fall asleep on his shoulder; to Lauren having Darren surprising her while taking a shower and making love to her with the hot water falling on them.
That's why Darren was surprised that evening, when he walked into the house and found Lauren at the dining table, with an envelope on her hands and her enormous bag next to her. He approached her without saying a word; he counted with his confused face to express he needed an explanation.
He immediately realized the envelope contained a bundle of cash. Was it possible that…?
"Um…" Lauren stuttered, not knowing how to explain it. "I finally got enough money to rent an apartment on my own. I've been doing some research, and I found one that I can afford, and it's already pre- furnished and equipped so I only need to do a few expenditures to move there."
She didn't talk about it in all the time they were together. Why didn't she? Why did she wait right until the moment before to tell she was planning to go?
"Does that mean you're leaving?" Darren asked, although the answer was pretty obvious.
"Yes." She replied, looking at him.
She slowly stood up; put the envelope on the pocket of her bag; and hanging it to her shoulder she walked through the house with slow, almost shy steps. When she reached the door frame, she turned back and looked at Darren.
He was looking at her as well, but they were a few steps away.
"I don't even know how to thank you for all the help you offered to me, Darren." Lauren started, with her most honest tone of voice. She really meant it. "It's incredible. You didn't have to do it but you did. You are amazing. If there's anything I can do to return at least a little part of it to you, please tell me. However, just… Thank you so much. I couldn't have survived without you."
Lauren waited a few seconds, waiting for him to say something back. But he didn't reply anything, he just looked at her. She didn't know if he felt offended or shocked; or if he was having a brain stroke right then.
She didn't know how she was supposed to say goodbye. What was the normative to respect in a situation like that? Those were the most confusing circumstances ever.
Lauren released a little grin, like her way to thank him and to say goodbye. Seeing there was no response from him, then she turned back and directed her hand to the doorknob. But as she tried to open the door; she gasped as she felt how she was being pushed against the door's wood. Darren had walked at an impressive speed to her, grabbed her and pushed her against the door, forbidding her the way out. It was probably the most violent movement he ever did to her.
Before she had time to reply, to ask or to even object; he quickly crushed his lips against hers. Before she could even think about it, she was kissing back. Darren puts his hands around her head to deepen the kiss. Lauren felt his tongue slipping in her mouth; and she closed her eyes and dropped her heavy bag to the floor, which fell down with a loud sound. Darren's lips kind of made her forget why she was carrying that.
She didn't know if Darren was saying his last goodbye, or he was trying to convince her to stay; whatever it was, it was working really good.
His hands moved from her head to her waist; and pulled her close in a thrust. Lauren moaned softly, tangling her fingers deeply in Darren's curls on the back of his head. As they kept making out; his hands sneaked inside of her shirt, reaching the line of her backbone, touring her back up and down, lifting up her shirt.
She put her hands on his neck, forcing him to stop kissing her.
"I have to go." She whispered, out of breath.
"Just a moment more. Please." He begged, looking at her in the eye. Having his gaze on her, Lauren just couldn't refuse.
"I guess I can stay a while." She replied lowly. Darren didn't wait to kiss her again.
"Do you have to go now?" Darren asked, leaning beside her, very very close to her; but holding one of her hands, which continued intertwined from the beginning. At last his voice sounded normal again, but she could see a hint of pleading on it.
"I guess I can stay a while" Lauren said, covering them both with one of the sheets that were at the bedside.
Darren's hand grabbed her leg and lifted her up; making place for himself closer to her. He drew some imaginary circles on the skin of her leg, lifting up her skirt; reaching her inner thigh. She threw her head back when felt his lips going down her neck. She couldn't help it but her nails stabbed him on the back; that encouraged him to go lower to her chest.
He nervously took her shirt off. Lauren arched her back, biting her lip; wanting to feel more of him. She leaded her hands to the back of his t-shirt and lifted it up until it wasn't in the way anymore.
Without wanting to waste any more time; Lauren unbuttoned his jeans, before you could realize they were down at his ankles. He kissed her passionately again. They kept undressing each other until clothes weren't interfering between them no more; and the room was filled with the sound of gasps and moans that couldn't be no longer hold, and whispers that lost sense in a matter of minutes.
Darren put his hands around her bum to lift Lauren up from the floor. She crossed her legs behind him; and her arms around him to make sure she couldn't fall. She moaned loudly and closed her eyes when Darren made the first thrust inside her. She felt the cold door behind her.
He pressed his forehead against hers, while he kept lunging in her. Lauren could hear his low curses, feel his accelerated breath, watch his eyes closed and the little frown up them; as his body moved inside her. More than enjoying the act of sex itself; Lauren loved to learn more things about him. Finding out his little quirks, his tastes, his gestures.
His thrusts got harder, deeper, faster. She started to feel on the edge; her breath got more difficult to catch and her thoughts more difficult to get straight. Without stopping him; she looked at him and, although the distractions, said very seriously:
"I don't want to be anywhere else."
"Then don't go." Darren replied, catching his breath God knows where from.
He softly put a hand on her jaw and kissed her. And, like that, with his arms around her, the warmth of his body surrounding her completely, and his lips whispering words that she wasn't skillful enough to understand, Lauren realized.
She couldn't leave him, even if she wanted to.
