Sollux awoke. He looked around the room. This room wasn't his nor was it Terezi's whom he had been staying in for a while. He then remembered. He was in Aradia's bedroom. There were mounds of boxes since Aradia was still packing to move into his place. He looked next him. There she was. Asleep and slightly snoring. Sollux smiled. The two were officially dating now. They had been dating for two weeks. Wow what a feeling. Waking up next to her. He panned his eyes down her body. Though many people could describe Aradia's appearance at the moment as not a pretty sight, with her hair messy and her mouth open, slightly snoring, Sollux thought she was kind of cute. She had her head on his chest and was snuggled close to him. No matter how she looked, anyone would go 'awww' in this situation. Aradia was also a pretty sound sleeper. It was like a dead person. Once she finally fell asleep, she was out. Unfortunately, recently sleep was hard to come by for her.
He closed his eyes and lied back down. This he could definitely get used to.
Suddenly blaring music came on and filled the room. Capuchin Catapult's Made of Time filled the room. Sollux jumped at the alarm. Aradia groaned.
"Could you get that?" she asked. Sollux hit the snooze button. She sat up slightly and slowly.
"Do you have to go to work?" Sollux complained. Aradia smiled.
"Yes Sollux, I do. And I think it would be best if you did too," she replied.
"Seems like a bit of a waste of time though. You look pretty sleepy," tempted Sollux, "You have to take your maternity leave sometime." She shook her head at him.
"As much as I would love to I can't. I still have a while to go before I can leave," she yawned starting to get up, "Plus Dave and I are carpooling today. He recently got a job at the museum so I thought I'd help him out."
"Wait. I'll make you breakfast. You get in a couple extra minutes of sleep," he offered.
"Really, you-"
"You just rest a bit. I'll take care of everything," he insisted. She smiled again.
"Thank you," she said. Sollux then got out of bed. "Promise you'll wake me up when you're done."
"I will," he assured. He then continued downstairs. She sighed. She looked at the clock. 7:06. Work didn't start until 8:00 and it only took her 5 minutes to get there and 15 minutes to get ready. She closed her eyes and drifted off. Looks like he didn't get much sleep either. As usual. He has the bags under his eyes like he always does.
She didn't stay asleep for long. Soon she felt the kicking. She sighed.
"Come on, please let me sleep," she groaned. Suddenly the urge to pee came up. "Alright. You win." She tried to sit up. "Oh jeez…" The weight was just too heavy. The motion was not possible. She groaned in effort to lift up her body. She gave a frustrated groan as she gave up. However, at the same time, she did find this a bit humorous. Well this sucks. What do I do now?
"Sollux?" she called, "Sollux!" She could hear the clammer kitchen utensils from upstairs. She sighed. "SOLLUX!" she yelled. There was a loud clanging noise. She heard fast booming footsteps racing up the stairs. "Sollux?" Sollux then burst through the door.
"What?" Sollux gasped.
"Damn that was fast," she commented.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I need help," stated Aradia slightly giggling.
"I thought you were going to sleep," he said.
"Well now I have to pee," she replied, "And I can't get up."
"Oh…" replied Sollux, "Here. Let me help." He then went to her side of the bed. He then took her hand and helped pull her up. When she was on her feet he gave her a peck on the lips. She blushed a bit.
"Wow, that was...creative," she giggled, "What time is it?"
"7:15," he answered, "You weren't asleep for long."
"Yeah you can thank your offspring for that," she replied.
"I'm sorry," he replied. She kissed him on the cheek.
"is breakfast ready?" Aradia asked.
"No. You didn't sleep long," reminded Sollux, "It'll be done by the time you're finished getting dressed."
"It'll be almost 8 by then," Aradia joked. She sighed. "I still have 18 more weeks of this. Are you sure you want to–"
"I'm sure," he interrupted, "You're my girlfriend now. I'm going to support you until the end." She smiled. "You're still a dork."
"So are you."
"Is that everything?" Terezi called.
"Yeah, I think so," replied Aradia. Aradia looked at the boxes. Today was the day she was moving out. She started bend over to pick up a few boxes.
"No no," reminded Kanaya, "You shouldn't lift heavy things. I'll take care of it." Kanaya took the boxes Aradia was going to take.
"Especially in the state you're in, I don't think you can lift anything anyways," said Rose.
"I can still lift a box or two," replied Aradia. She moved still bent over to another box. She stretched her arms, but couldn't quite reach the box. The three giggled. "Well, I guess bending over isn't the best thing." She tried to straighten her spine to stand back up but was painfully failing at it. "Ohh damn…this is not going very well for me, is it?" Everyone laughed. Aradia's smile then dissipated. "Okay seriously, help me." Rose and Kanaya helped her back up. Kanaya sat her down on her bed.
"You sit here and rest," she instructed. Aradia sighed and sat back on her bed.
Pretty soon, all the boxes were loaded since Aradia didn't have too much stuff. Everything was loaded up in Kanaya and Rose's car.
"I can drive myself you know. Really!" Aradia said.
"I am not letting you drive," Kanaya replied.
"I drive to work everyday," she pointed out.
"Well, I'm driving you. You relax as much as you can," informed Kanaya.
"You've been making me relax all day," replied Aradia, "I'm getting bored."
"Kanaya, let her drive," said Rose.
"She can drive next time to the next doctor's appointment," sighed Kanaya. Aradia shrugged.
Terezi watched the car take off. She smiled.
"It's going to be weird in an empty house," she sighed.
"What about your new boyfriend?" Karkat asked.
"Okay I kind of…lied. I don't actually have a new boyfriend," she confessed, "I lied to tease you but now…I don't dislike you anymore."
"…thanks…I'm uh, glad to hear that," he replied quietly. There was silence in between. Very awkward silence. Karkat whistled.
"So…wanna–"
"No."
"Okay."

Aradia woke up to a crash of thunder. The rain was dousing the window and was rather loud. She felt a rumble of hunger grumble throughout her abdomen. Wait no, that was the fluttering. But she was hungry. She looked at the clock. 1:31 AM. She really didn't want to wake up Sollux. She tried to get up by herself again but it wasn't working. She stared at Sollux. He was tossing and turning slightly. His breathing rapid and sweat frosting his face. Aradia sighed as she could only watch as he went through another nightmare. She pulled back his blankets and brushed aside his hair. She stroked aside his bangs from his sweaty forehead.
Suddenly she felt her wrist being grabbed. His grip was constricting and only getting tighter. Another flash of lightning illuminated just how tight his grip was. He then started to twist her arm. Alright, time to wake him up.
"Sollux…ow! Sollux!" Aradia's whispering escalated quickly, "Ow! stop! Wake up!" It would probably help if she sat up, but it was hard to do with one arm constricted. She then kicked him lightly. "Sollux! Wake up! Really, it's just me!" She continued kicking him. She felt bad about it but what else could she do? She then began almost yelling at him. "Sollux! Alright, you leave me no choice." She then gave him one more sharp jab. With a loud boom of thunder, Sollux awoke gasping for air, and took a couple strikes with his free hand. His eyes glossy in terror. He just sat there staring at nothing. Aradia finally pulled her arm free. A flash showed the bruise that began to form on her arm.
"…Sollux?" He finally looked down at her.
"…Aa?"
"Sorry I had to wake you," she apologized.
"It's fine…" he breathed, "Was I thrashing again? I didn't hit you did I?"
"You grabbed my arm in your sleep and you started to twist it," she explained. He sighed.
"I'm sorry. I guess falling asleep with me is too dangerous," he said.
"That's not—"
"I could have seriously hurt you," he interrupted, "It could have been much worse."
"Sollux it's okay," she assured, "I promise I can handle whatever you throw at me. Metaphorically and physically." He smiled a little. "You just need to give me permission to hurt you." His smile faded a bit.
"I'm happy you're okay," he said.
Aradia stared up at him, not sitting up still. With struggle, she slowly sat up and propped herself against the bed frame. She sighed
"It's so hot for August. Shouldn't it be cooler since it's almost September?" Sollux shrugged.
"My AC doesn't work too well. Especially since the power is out," he apologized.
"It's fine." He slightly smiled. She smiled back. Another rumble of thunder tumbled along. There was a long silence. Aradia stared up at the ceiling, more specifically at the air vents.
"So…No AC, huh?" she changed the subject.
"No. It doesn't work too well anyways. I'm too short to reach the vent to open it," he replied, "You have enough room?" She nodded.
"I'm happy," she smiled.
The two talked for a bit before deciding to go to sleep. They then were silent for 30 minutes, both still wide awake and unable to fall asleep. Not saying anything in fear of waking the other. Finally, someone cracked.
"You awake?" Aradia asked.
"Yeah…"
"can't sleep?"
"No…"
"Me neither."
Aradia stared at Sollux. His back was facing her. The heat eventually got to him so he was shirtless.
"Bored and not tired."
"Same."
"Wanna play video games until we fall asleep?" Aradia suggested.
"Sure," was what he replied with. Inside, it was the best suggestion he ever heard.
Karkat stomped into his roommate's bedroom. To his surprise, he was actually there. Asleep and snoring, sprawled out horizontally across the bed.
"Oh surprise surprise, you're actually home at 6 AM!" he jeered, "God, I don't even know you anymore. Staying out until fucking 6 AM? What's there to do at 6 AM? You worry me sometimes, you know? I wonder what you even do when you're out. What is so important that you have to not come home until 6 AM, huh?" Karkat sighed. "I just hope you're not getting yourself into something too dangerous…okay? I'm worried." Gamzee stretched and yawned. He opened an eye.
"Sorry bro. What was that?" he murmured, the same relaxed smile painted on his face.
"…never mind."
Terezi was watching er…listening to television. She was bored out of her mind since Aradia left. Now all she had was her job and tutoring Eridan. She started hanging out with Vriska more. She forgot how much fun the two used to have. She figured it was time to give her a break.
A knock on he door interrupted her thoughts. She hopped out of the chair and walked to the door. She opened it to find Eridan.
His head was low in defeat, a look Terezi had never seen er…sensed on him before. There was something in his hand.
"Eridan?" He pushed past her, inviting himself in as usual. He stormed in and slammed the paper on the table.
"This is bullshit!" he yelled, "Fuckin bullshit!" Terezi went to the table, uncrumpled the paper and read it. "Three fuckin points away from passin? Are you fuckin kiddin me? That's so unfair!"
"This says 13," Terezi pointed out.
"Whatever!"
"Did you even study at home?" she said.
"Of course I did!" Eridan replied.
"Eridan."
"…Okay fine! I didn't!" he admitted, "I thought the test was easy!"
"This is why you study!" lectured Terezi, "You don't get anywhere if you don't study! Don't you study lines for your plays and stuff?"
"well, that stuff isn't borin!" Eridan snapped.
"Wow, you're so spoiled…" muttered Terezi quietly.
"Hey tz! You left your door open!" a voice called.
"Great! Just when things couldn't get any worse!" Eridan proclaimed.
"Oh just my fucking luck!" Sollux exclaimed, "Every time I come here you're here!"
"What do you want Appleberry?" Terezi asked.
"Aa wanted to pick up some stuff," he explained, "But since she can't I'm going for her."
"What's she doing?" she asked.
"She's in the hospital," he replied.
"Again? What for this time?"
"She hasn't been well lately and the doctor just wants to examine her for the night."
"Yeah that sucks and all, but what about my problem?" Eridan butt in.
"Does everything have to be about you?" Sollux sneered.
"That's kind of why I came here," he replied.
"Oh that's so typical of you!"
"What's typical of me? I want to not fail again!"
"You failed your test?"
"Quit your laughin!"
"No way! This is too hilarious!"
"Alright that's it! I'm–"
"Order!" Terezi yelled, "Shut the hell up! Both of you!" The two fell quiet. "Do you two have to fight every time you're over here? It's obnoxious!"
"But–"
"He's–"
"Sit down!" Terezi commanded. The two immediately obeyed and sat down. "Could you tell me why you two don't like each other?" she pointed at Sollux, "I mean, I know why he doesn't like you, but why don't you like him again?" Sollux sighed.
"Oh it's such a long list," he began.
"I mean other than the fact that he's a total douchebag," said Terezi.
"Hey! What the fuck Ter?"
"Sorry, but it is true. Sollux," she continued. He sighed.
"Well, it started about a couple months after I moved out of the city–"
"Oh here we go."
"You be quiet!" Terezi commanded.
"Anyways, I was ten years old. And This dickwad had just come back from overseas. The kids already didn't like me at the new school. And like everyone knew this cape douche. And for some reason, he wanted to pick on me. I was a scrawny little thing back then. I spit every time I lisped, I was even uglier than I am now, and had no friends at this new school. You think I'd catch a break? Nope!" Sollux was not holding back. "This asshole ruined my life! The beat downs. The spitting. He broke my glasses once—he broke my wrist too!"
"That was two years ago! And it was an accident!"
"When I came to school everyday, the school nurse thought my parents were beating me! And boy did I get in trouble for that. But the worst thing he did was start that rumor. A rumor that continued even through high school. After a while even I started to believe it."
"Oh will you let it go? It was years ago!"
"Do you know how much you impacted my life? I would have ditched school if my parents hadn't forced me to suck it up. The last straw was that rumor."
"What rumor?" Terezi asked.
"I told everyone that him and Mituna weren't really related. That his mum found him in a garbage can and felt bad and took him in," explained Eridan, "I mean, the two don't really look alike at all! Their eyes aren't even the same!"
"It's a mutation!"
"Wait that was a rumor?" Terezi questioned. Sollux had enough.
"Alright, I'm done!" Sollux got up and headed for the door, "I'm getting AA's stuff and leaving!"
"Sollux wait."
"Just fuck you all!" He stormed up the stairs.
"Hey Sollux, I'm sorry," called Terezi. Sollux's stormed past her in the way down. He didn't even look at anyone. He just got the hell out of there.
"Someone's sensitive," muttered Eridan. Terezi glared at him. "What?"
