Okay, guys, this is probably going to be the last chapter or the second to last :(. I know, but the story's getting to be a bit too long, so it's kind of mandatory. If you guys want me to do an epilogue, then just review, but…otherwise…just review.
So…let's do this : /.
Alex
I fought against whoever forcefully held me, but it was of no use. I was too small, and they were too big.
"What are you doing all by yourself, kid?" A masculine voice sneered. I closed my eyes and began to sob. I have never, ever, been in a situation like this before, nor have I ever been this scared before. I felt my body bruise as the person kept their grip on me.
Suddenly, I was shoved against a wall. I hit my head against the brick and slid down the hard surface. Curling up, I held my knees to my chest and lowered my head, but I was interrupted by the giant man putting his hand on my shoulder and shoving me towards the ground.
"LOOK ME IN THE EYES, KID!" He screamed at me. I reluctantly opened my eyes and saw a man that was built with muscle and had multiple tattoos. His eyes were a sharp blue, and I could tell that he wasn't thinking straight, but I didn't know why at the time.
Once I closed my eyes, trying to rid of what lied in front of my eyes, I felt something cold press against my forehead. I could feel its thickness and the round hole that it had.
It was a gun.
My eyes shut even tighter than before. This was the end. I've stumbled upon a drunk, gang member and I'm held at gunpoint. This was the end.
I heard the gun shot, and I was surprised that I didn't feel myself fall to the ground. It seemed like I was still conscious, but I had no way of telling.
My eyes fluttered open, and I saw the man on the ground, blood seeping out of his shirt from where his heart was.
"Leave him alone!" A voice bellowed. I looked up and saw a man with light, red hair and pale skin running towards me. He looked like any other man, but if that was the case, then why does he have a gun on him?
As he got closer and closer to me, I crept farther and farther away from him, careful to not touch the man who was now dead.
I looked at the man, whom was standing, in the eyes, fear overtaking my gaze. He began to slow down and he also crouched a little, his right hand gentle in front of him.
"It's okay, son," he told me, "I'm not gonna hurt you." Even though he told me that, I still cowered away towards the end corner of the alleyway.
How did I know if he was going to hurt me or not? He had a gun, he could shoot me if he wanted to!
A glare of light caught my eye, and I looked towards the source. There rested a police badge on his belt. I still didn't know if it was real or if it was something you got for five dollars at the gas station.
Scooting farther and farther away, my back hit the metal gate. My eyes widened in fear as the person gained in on me.
"My name is Officer Baker and I work at the Miami Police Department." I looked up at him shyly and saw that he was telling the truth. How I knew that, I have no idea. "I'm not going to hurt you," he repeated.
Taking a deep breath, I looked up at him and grabbed his hand that was outstretched towards me, standing up. My legs were shaky and my head was spinning with fear, but I completed my actions anyway. Officer Baker picked me up and set me on his hip, arm around my waist as he led me to his car, exiting the alley where a dead body lied.
Officer Baker grabbed the walkie-talkie that was attached to his shirt pocket and began telling a dispatcher that there was a dead, child-abuser on the corner of Annie and Jane. After doing so, he grabbed my hand and took me towards the blue Suburban a little quicker and opened up the passenger's door for me.
"But…but I'm not allowed in the passenger's seat," I said. But he just looked me in the eyes and told me that it was okay for the time being.
Officer Baker started the car and began to drive away. "I was on my way to a conference that I can't miss, so I'm going to have to drop you off at my house, which is on the way. I don't know what they'll do to kids if I take you there, so I'm taking precautions."
Once we arrived, Officer Baker dropped me off at the front porch and let his wife take care of me. Her name was Susie, and they had a daughter, Lucy, that was a couple years older than me. She looked just like her dad, but she had her mother's eyes and her bright and happy smile.
When Mrs. Baker asked what my phone number or my legal guardian's number was, I didn't know. I guess that I forgot in the midst of the traumatization.
Then, Lucy skipped in the room with a large book.
"Here," she said in a caring tone, "we'll just look it up in the phone book." She set it on the table with a THUD. I jumped in shock. I have never, ever, seen a book that big. Not even a dictionary's this big!
I gave her last name, but she didn't see Adam's number in there. Their latest directory was from when we couldn't afford to have our names in the phone book. Then, I remembered about Joyce. But when we looked her up, she wasn't in the phone book, making me remember how she hated how the entire population would know her information, so she never signed up to be listed.
Um…um…gotta think. Ally wouldn't have been listed either…
But Austin would be!
"Moon. Look up Austin Moon," I told Lucy. I didn't want any of this to happen―I just wanted to scare them enough to make them stop fighting for once. I wanted to go home. I wanted to be under the covers of my bed, having Ally rub my head with her hand, Adam and Joyce engaging in a simple conversation in the same room, and everything would be all right.
Lucy placed her finger on the thin paper and began to look through the list of people who had the last name of 'Moon'.
"Ah, here he is! Let's just make sure that this is really him." She then grabbed my hand and led me to the breakfast table and turned on her laptop. As soon as she logged in and turned on Google Chrome, she googled Austin's address and opened up his FaceBook page in another time.
She turned to me scooted over, patting the empty spot next to her. As soon as I sat down next to her, she pointed to the screen and asked, "is this him?" I nodded, feeling weird that two worlds were colliding. It was unusual, so I brushed it off.
She handed me the home phone after dialing the number and pressing the 'CALL' button. I held the phone up to my ear and listened to the ringing that never seemed to end.
Finally, the phone was answered. "Hello?" A distressed voice asked. I recognized it immediately to be Austin's, so I smiled largely.
"Austin?" I asked, already knowing that it was him. I heard a relieved sigh.
As he spoke, I heard the sounds of cars speeding down the streets. "Alex, is that you?" Austin asked.
I nodded my head, even though he couldn't see me doing exactly that.
"Yeah." I could practically see him smiling largely.
"Where are you at, buddy?" He asked, this time, more relaxed. After having Lucy tell me the address, I gave it to Austin. "I'm on my way. Stay there, and don't go anywhere else!" After doing so, I promised him that I would and hung up.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again!" Ally said as soon as she saw me. She wrapped her arms around me and practically pushed all of the oxygen out of me, and I was unable to receive any more.
I nodded solemnly and buried my head in the crook of her chest. I breathed in the scent of her perfume and thought, that no matter how embarrassing it was, I liked the smell of perfume.
Maybe I'll try wearing it sometime when I stink. (A/N: That's a stab at someone I know!)
All that matters is that I'm home. So many things have happened here, but I truly wouldn't have it any other way.
Joyce
I closed my eyes, bouquet of white flowers and hand and tossed it over my shoulder. I quickly turned around, careful not to snag this gorgeous, white dress of mine, to see who caught it.
And it was Ally.
I squealed and ran over to her, my vail flowing behind me like a superhero's cape. I hugged Ally, whom was in shock.
"That means you're next to get married," I whispered in her ear and pulled away. She was wearing an orphan blue dress that wrapped around her shoulders and fell straight down her petite body. Her hair was pulled back to the left side of her face and the ends were curled.
Ally looked confused, and then said, "but I'm only twenty-years-old!" I shrugged comically and told her that it didn't matter the age.
"Hey, Austin could propose at any time! You guys have been going strong for, what, three years?" I knew that she would correct me, but that was the best part.
She rolled her eyes at me, her lips naturally pouting in the bubblegum lipgloss she had applied before the ceremony. She had on black eyeshadow and black eyeliner that brought out her beautiful, brown eyes.
The reception was held at the Miami Country Club, where one of my patients generously offered to pay half of. The wedding was immaculate, so that sucked up a ton of Adam's and my budget.
People that I've known all my life were here. And since I didn't really have time to hang out with friends, Ally was my maid of honor. Alex's near-girlfriend, Clara, was the flower girl. As for the bridesmaids, I had old, college friends and a couple of my colleagues fill in the spots for the five. The best man was, obviously, Austin, you know, since Adam still feels like he owes him for saving Ally's life that long time ago. The groomsmen consisted of mainly Adam's high school buddies and some of his favorite employees.
Yeah, that's right. Adam has employees! He was offered a job as an agent and a detective for his outstanding work a few years back when he cracked the Reagan Parkwell case all on his own.
Ally was offered a scholarship for Counseling to Georgia State, and, oddly enough, Austin was offered a few football scholarships to plenty of universities, but he chose the one that was closest to Ally. I still think that that's the sweetest thing on Earth! They truly do love each other, just like Adam and I do.
And who knows? Maybe the same thing can happen for our big thirteen-year-old, otherwise known as Alex. I know, they grow up too fast! The little punk is already in advanced classes, and he's only in the seventh grade!
The reason Adam and I didn't tie the knot sooner was because he wanted to finish his education. He took online courses for his high school diploma, and he attended a community college to get his degree in Protective Forces. This got him a raise in salary at the agency, which helped us buy our first house! It's a neat, little one-story that sits in a nice neighborhood with amazing neighbors. During one of the first days we moved in, we were given enough food to survive us at least a week! Desserts not included!
I met up with Adam at our assigned table that took months to finalize. I had no idea that wedding planning was this stressful! It was either this or some cheap-ass wedding that would've been held at the station, at least three days after the proposal. I mean, come on! I want to show off the ring, people! You should never, ever, stop a girl that can brag about her engagement ring. Never.
"We did it!" He cheered, pulling me into a tight hug and spinning me around once or twice, causing me to laugh delightfully.
After he set me down, I forcefully kissed him, running my fingers through his hair and smiling big, but not enough to ruin the kiss.
Once we pulled away, we told each other that we loved the other, then I admired the wedding ring that seemed perfectly fit for my finger and myself.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," I whispered, leaning up to peck Adam on the lips firmly.
Mmmm. I felt the vibrations chorus through my lips and it tickled me a little.
The sound of glass being tapped grabbed everyone's attention, and Adam and I turned to see both Austin and Ally standing on the platform, mic in Austin's hand and glass and fork in Ally's.
"Hey, guys," Austin said, holding the mic to his mouth. Once Ally tried to do so, Austin held the mic to her mouth, and then back to his, and then repeated the process continuously. "Are you gonna speak? Huh? Huh?" He was obviously trying to show off his improvised humor, and maybe trying to make m nieces and nephews laugh.
Ally rolled her eyes and smacked Austin upside the head. He ducked his head down in shame and handed the mic to Ally.
These two really were perfect for each other, and everybody else here seemed to think so too, for they chuckled.
Austin wrapped his arms around Ally from behind her and rested his chin on the top of her head. He's still a whole head taller than her, and it's so adorable.
"Hi, I'm Ally, Adam's sister and Joyce's maid of honor, and I'd just like to thank everybody who showed up. It means a lot to the happy couple here, and it helps that nobody objected during the ceremony." She took a deep breath and was about to begin her rehearsed speech, but what stopped her short was when Austin began to kiss her ear.
"Austin, not here," she hissed, "you know how I feel about PDA." Austin smiled big and exhaled onto her now wet ear, causing goosebumps to arise. "Seriously, babe, we're supposed to be focusing on Adam and Joyce." Austin pulled away and pouted, causing the little kids to laugh once again.
Ally straightened up herself and wiped off her ear. Then, she began her speech.
"This power couple has overcome a lot of obstacles that could cause any two to break up on the spot, but they just put on a brave face and fixed their problems instead of completely getting rid of it. I remember when Adam had to grow up when he was sixteen and had to provide for three when our parents died. We had to bring home a newborn, Alex, and we had to throw away all that we had to keep the roof over our heads. Adam dropped out of high school, and he wasn't able to get a real job until he was eighteen-years-old, but he still worked at three little side-jobs a day. I was eight when it happened, and nothing put a smile on my face until I saw that Adam truly did everything he possibly could to feed us. Then, he met Joyce when he was just around my age. She was probably one of the only reasons that he looked forward to the next day. He would constantly tell stories about her, how he was nervous about taking her out on their first date, how he would say 'I love you', how he would ask her to move in, and how to propose to her. It's truly magical, if you ask me. When I met Joyce, she accepted me with my troubles and helped me overcome them. She's probably one of the main reasons my head's still screwed in tight on my shoulders―"
"―what about your neck?" Austin interrupted, smirking. He had his part of the speech, but Ally didn't trust him with it, so he was lucky enough to stand there beside her instead of her forcing him to sit at the kids' table.
Ally closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, trying to control her anger. "You know what I mean, Austin." He smirked and looked over at his friend, Dez, whom was video recording the entire speech. He was in charge for most of the photography after Austin recommended him to us. We took a look at his portfolio, and it was absolutely incredible, so we didn't have to pay as much as we would have for a professional photographer.
"Anyways," she said in a fake cheery voice, "back to the main couple of the evening. Not Austin's humor that's recommended for the ages of 3-6." This caused a chorus of 'ooooohhhh's throughout the crowd.
Austin held up his hands in surrender and started to walk off the platform, "I get it, I get it: I'm not wanted." And that was enough to make Ally call him back on stage with just one more chance.
"Okay, so, back to Mr. and Mrs. Dawson," I smiled proudly and looked over at Adam when she said that. I'm officially a Dawson!
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
A moment like this
Some people wait a life time
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Oh, I can't believe
It's happening to me
Some people wait a life time
For a moment like this
Austin
I hopped out of the driver's seat and ran over to the front doors with Jake Moon, whom had his filled backpack on both of his shoulders.
"Daddy, I'm so nervous!" He told me. Wow, I haven't heard him call me that since I got back from my two-month trip last year.
I crouched down to his level and put my hands on his shoulders, adjusting the bag to where it wasn't weighing him down as much. I looked over at my beautiful wife, Ally, whom was sitting in the passenger's seat, looking over at us anxiously.
I smiled, thinking how long ago it's been since I was in his shoes.
"Jake Addison Moon," I said, "how many times do I have to tell you? You've got your mother's smarts and my awesomeness, so there's no need to worry." Jake rolled his eyes as we both said, "but that's when Mom worries the most." We both laughed, and I glanced over at Ally to see her turned around, playing with our newest addition to the Moon family, three-month-old Melody.
"Do you remember our rules?" I asked Jake. He nodded his head excitedly and began to recite them.
"Don't become a meanie, don't act like a meanie, don't say something that you can't say back to Mom, and be awesome." I brought him in for a hug one last time.
I stood up and grabbed his hand, walking him inside the building and leading him to the fourth-grade hallway.
"This is it," I said as we came up to Mrs. Stones' classroom. I looked down at Jake and saw that he was taking a few deep breaths as he gazed into the room that was filled with both happy and nervous kids. "Do you see anyone you know?"
Jake nodded and pointed to a girl with long, dirty-blond hair. She was coloring a picture of a Disney Princess and looking around. The weird thing was that nobody was talking to her.
"Her name is Shannon; she was in my class last year," he said. Man, that reminds me so much of when I was in Jake's shoes.
I spun Jake around a few times, and then pushed him in the room. "Go talk to her," I whispered, leaning down to his ear, "she may just be your best friend." My little boy nodded stupidly and began walking towards the girl. Once he started talking, she flashed this beautiful smile and began talking to Jake.
After they were focused on each other, I strolled inside the classroom and up to Mrs. Stones.
"Mrs. Stones, do you remember me? Austin Moon?" She spun around on her heels, and she faced me. I still recognized her, but she has aged quite a bit. This may just be her last year here before retirement.
She pushed the rim of her glasses up and squinted at me. "Austin Moon," she whispered, happiness shining in her eyes, "it's been ages since I last saw you! How have you been?" She pulled me into a bone-crushing hug, bringing me down as much as she could to her short height, which was probably at 4'11''.
I patted her on the back as I said, "I've been doing great. I married one of my classmates here, Ally Dawson, and now Jake, my son, has you." She leaned away and cheered.
"Isn't it lovely how the world turns out sometimes?" She asked. I looked over at Jake and saw that he was cracking a few of jokes that I taught him to Shannon.
"Yeah," I said, proudly, "yeah, it really is."
THE END.

QUESTION:Favorite season? Mine is Spring!
THAT ONE MOMENT:When you hate someone for no reason, then they do something stupid, and you're just, like, "I KNEW IT!"
QUOTE BY ME: "You really don't know how stupid you are until you look at your posts from last year on FaceBook."
Um…this story has practically become part of me. It's like, I still imagine scenarios that could happen for this story, but, maybe I could put them to use with a new story.
Is this what J.K. Rowling felt like when she ended Harry Potter? Geez, 'cause this feelings absolutely sucks.
So…help someone up when they're down, even if you hate them.
Bye.
