Chapter 26

"It's okay. I'm guessing you're here to talk, do you wanna come with me now where heading over to our new house everything's there if you won't a drink"

"Okay thank you" I nodded

"Babe" I yelled out and Pete came out the room carrying the rest of the stuff "You have your car right?" he nodded looking at the figure confused "okay you take your car and will meet you there, give the guys a heads up let them know where on our way" He nodded still look at the figure "I'll explain it all when we get home"

"Okay"

I turned grabbing Jackson and headed down to the car, "So General i'm sure your here about my request, and being that your here means that you have to come drag me back, am i right?"

"No" he said shaking his head

I pulled into the drive way of the house and got out of the car leaving Jackson in there

"Then why are you here?" he reached into his jacket pocket pulling out a thick folder

"I'm here to give you this" i grabbed it out of his hands

"What is it" i said as i pulling the papers out.

"Your history from being in the military, well some stuff not as much as there is we aren't prohibited to give that out to anyone" i nodded

"I don't need some paper to tell me what happened i can remember it all down to what i ate for breakfast that day. Why would i need this any way?" i put his hand in his jacket going into the other side of his jacket "Because here are your papers of release" i looked at him shocked when he handed them to me "One for you one for me and one for the president"

"So wait a minute your telling me that after all this time of me wanting out and me worrying about going back and leaving my husband behind was all for nothing?"

"No nothing Elizabeth, we were using you" i looked confused "The person that we sent you after has been in hiding since you up and just vanished no one new what had happened to you they figured you had gone under cover so we used that, until he realized it was to long for nothing to happen and he came out then bam he was dead" my mouth dropped open i was shocked but i was also mad.

"You know i use to respect you, until today i put my family through hell today they almost lost me today and then i told them that i was going back to the US back to the military i was preparing them for the worst and then come to find out this hole thing could have been avoided." i turned around into my car grabbing a pen out of my bag and signed all the papers that i needed to "Now leave, leave and don't come back" i turned away from him to pick Jackson up when i seen Pete pull in the drive way.

I felt my heart brake into a million peaces when he got out i guess it finally clicked as to who the person was

"Your not taking her away from me-"

"Pete-" he shock his head

"You can't take her away i need her our son needs her"

"Pete-"

"Please" i heard his voice crack i never thought i would see this side of Pete he was scared

"Pete, baby" i grabbed his face to look at me, i smiled to him as i whipped away his tears "I'm not going any where," i shook my head "not without you" i kissed his lips

"Your not going?"

"No baby i'm here for good" i squeaked when i felt Pete's arms wrap around my waist lifting me of the ground, i wrapped my legs around his waist smiling

"Have a nice life Elizabeth" i felt a hand on my shoulder by the time that i looked up he was gone.

Pete put me down giving me a kiss then leaning in the car taking Jackson out

"Did you hear that son mummy's not going any where" i smiled as we walked inside

"So what's with all the papers?" i turned throwing them down on the table

"Just some stuff from my time in the military"

"Can i have a look" i shock my head no

"not right now why don't we go up and give Jackson and bath maybe give him a little dinner put him to sleep and have some dinner with the guys?" he smiled nodding as he was already walking up the stairs.

5 hours later

Pete and i were saying goodbye to everyone as they were leaving i hadn't heard anything from Dave so haven't had the chance to tell him that im staying.

I was watching Pete saying bye to Ben with a laugh when i remembered the day he told me that he was scared to be a dad

Flashback

Red had dropped me of after our little shopping spree were i'm sure i almost brought the hole store i loved everything in it

"Do you want me to help you take those bags upstairs?"

"Nope i'm good it isn't really that far any way"

AS i got to the apartment i seen that the door was slightly ajar.

I stepped forward pushing it open and calling Pete's name but nothing

"Pete... baby! you here!" as i walked more around i noticed that there were feet on the stairs automatically panicking and thinking something bad has happened i went running but as soon as i got closer i could smell the alcohol

"Pete, how much have you had to drink?"

"I don't know but i don't think ive ever been this drunk" i shook my head putting my hands out and grabbing his, but as i did he shook my hands out of his giving me a small push back. i seen straight away that he knew he fucked up

"Shit baby i'm so sorry i didn't mean to push you i was trying to make you let go i so sorry"

"I'm fine baby it wasn't really that hard i just don't have balance these days its fine"

"No i could have hurt you or the baby"

"Where both fine i promise" i grabbed his hand showing him that our son was still kicking me right in the side "come on baby lets get you in the shower we have to be at your mum's at 6 and its already 4:30"

An hour later after a few showers and endless cups of tea we where both in the car on our way to see mamma D

"So?" i out my hand on Pete's which was on his leg "You going to tell me why you were so drunk i know its Friday and all but you know we had to meet up with your mum for dinner tonight and you knew you had to get all the grading done tonight because you wouldn't have another chance" He sighed moving his hands and putting them behind his head and then putting them on my belly

"This guy in here is what's my problem"

"What?" i pulled the car over looking at him shocked "If your thinking what i think your thinking i will not hesitate to kill you" he smiled rubbing my cheek

"No babe i'm talking about being a dad, the kids in my class had to right a short story about someone in there life that is there hero and one of the kids Jason wrote his about his dad. And it got me to thinking what if i'm never that dad what if he grows up to hate me, what if i become my father" there was alot of what if's in there

"Get out of the car Pete" he looked at me confused but got out i followed right behind him as he stopped looking at me i moved i stepped forward and punching him straight in the solar plexus knowing full well it would make it hard for him to breath and talk so all he had to do was listen.

"You wanna sit there and think you going to turn into you father how stupid are you, you really think i would let you turn into that person i would kill you before i let you lay a hand on our son like your father did. What happens if i turn out to be like my mother" i pushed his shoulders hard making his stumble back a little "If we kept worrying about weather we where going to turn out like our parents then we would be so really fucked up people" i took a deep breath in shaking my head "You know what just get in the car we have to be at your mum's soon"

"Elizabeth?"

"Just get in the car Pete i will not fuck this night up for your mum this is something she has been wanting to do for awhile so GET THE FUCK IN THE CAR!" he looked shocked be he also looked mad but i didn't care he wanted to act like a total prick then so be it but i wasn't going to take it.

The drive to Mamma D's was silent the only sound you could ear was the radio and that really didn't help, once we got there Pete and i put on a front acting like we where the happy married couple that people see.

AS we got out of the car and started to walk up to the door i seen Mamma D standing there

"HI baby" she kissed Pete's cheek then turned to me "Elizabeth sweet heart how are you?, how is my grand baby?" she put her hands on my stomach smiling

"Where good went to the doctors had a cheek up today"

"WHAT!" He really sounded pissed

"Look before you get all prissy and threaten to put you'r foot up my ass, i tried to call you, your phone just kept going to voice mail" he went into his jacket pocket pulling out his phone

"I turned it of while i was grading thinking that the boys were going to call me down to the Abbey" see the jack ass he was worried he's so full of it

"I know i figured that out, look Mamma D can you give us a minute please" she nodded turning away from me and grabbing Red's hand taking her into the dinning area "Are you going to tell me what's going through that beautiful head of yours because i'm sure that it wasn't just about being a dad i know you Pete and there's something else going on in that head" he sighed sitting on the closest chair i didn't want to sit down cause i knew i wouldn't want to get up, so i stood in front of him

"I don't want to lose you" He whispered i only had just heard him

"What lose me you'r not going to lose me your married me your stuck with me till we die and even then ill still be right there telling you what to do" he laughed pulling me closer so that i was standing between his legs, he put his head against my stomach smiling, "Look Pete baby i know what really is going through your head but im okay i promised i promised you the night of everything that happened with Tommy that i would tell you everything that was happening with me or this baby and if there's something wrong i will tell you but you have to trust me cause that's where this is really coming from isn't it you don't trust me" he nodded looking up at me

"I'm sor-" i cut him of

"i'ts fine let's go have dinner i'm starving," her grabbed my hand

"Baby i love you nothing will change that i don't trust you when it comes to telling me if your okay i trust you with everything else nothing will change that"

"I know i understand i promise"

Endflash back

i was pulled out of my thoughts when i heard a knock at the door i turned looking at Pete but he wasn't there he was in the kitchen cleaning. I shrugged answering the door

Speak of the devil

"Well come in then" i stepped back as he came in he walked past me the turned towards me

"I brought a few people with me i thought they should see you before you left"

"Look Dave about that-"

"Hi Elizabeth" i froze spinning around and looking at who was at the door

"Mum?" i quickly moved helping her in "What are you doing here i thought you were meant to be staying in the hospital"

"I was but Dave came to me and we had a really long talk and then he told me that you were leaving back to the military and i wanted to see you"

"Oh well come in sit down make your self comfortable, i'll just grab Pete" i quickly turned before she could say anything and ran into the kitchen running straight into Pete and wrapping my arms around his waist

"Hey baby you okay?"

"She's here" i whispered

"Who?" he asked wrapping his arms around my waist walking me backwards to see who i was talking about

"Mum" he froze for a second but quickly moved grabbing me bridal style and caring me into the lounge where mum was

"Is she okay?" i heard Lauren's voice

"Ahh sorry who are you?"

"Oh sorry i'm Lauren Dave and Elizabeth's sister"

"Oh hi i would shake your hand but he lifted me a little "I'm Elizabeth's husband Pete Dunham, shes okay i'm just carrying her cause i want er to take it easy for the next few week's she had ruff pregnancy i'm just looking after her" Pete sat down on the chair pulling me onto his lap l curled up against his chest looking over at mum

"So your hear to see my girl why?" Pete asked mum

"She's leaving soon and i didn't know if i would see her again so i had to come see here"

"Your lying" I said sitting up looking at Dave "You told her to come here because you were hoping that mum and i would sort our shit out and then i would stay so that i could be with her on her final days" i stood up walking towards him, as i got closer i her stood up as well, Pete stood up but didn't stop us he was stopping mum from getting up

"Let them be there okay"

"You know if you hadn't fuckin run away earlier you would have seen me get this" i lent down grabbing the folder but not taking my eyes of Dave once

"What the fuck is this?"

"The fuck this is? this is my release papers from the military, the head of the military decided that i guess its time for Shellburn to retire and so do I" I pushed the folder into his chest "I'm out Dave, and beside from Pete you were the first one i wanted to tell but you ended up being the last" I felt a tear start to roll down my cheek "YOu yelled at me and walked away from me, you left me Dave, you always promised you wouldn't leave me no matter what" He dropped the papers and pulled me into a hug. Gut wrenching sobs ripped through my body "You promised"

"I know and im sorry" i felt Pete's arms wrap around my waist pulling me against his chest, i spun around bearing my head in the crock of his neck

"I guess that means you want us to leave then" i turned my head looking at Lauren and Mum

"No" i shook my head "Of course not please stay, why don't you just stay here for awhile i'm sure Pete won't mind" i looked up at him

"Of course not someone needs to use all theses rooms"

"We don't want to put you out"

"Your not im we would both love for you to get to know Jackson"

"Jackson" Lauren asked

"Our son" i said "Hes a few days old now but he's actually sleeping right now but he should be awake in the morning"

"I have a nephew" she squeaked out in mums ear

"Yes you do he's just like his daddy"

"NO way he looks like you"

"Were going to have this fight again aren't we" i nodded "You know i'm right"

"I don't think so" i laughed "I will call mamma D tomorrow and ask her to bring your baby photo's and she will show you that he looks like you, she told me when you were asleep in the hospital after i woke up"

"Your 'avin a bubble"

"Oh really" i pinched his side and quickly turned away from him looking back at mum i felt his hands trying to tickle me but it didn't work "Come on will head up stairs ill show you around" as i turned to walk up the stairs i heard Jackson's scream through the monter "Shit" i turned giving an apologetic smile and ran for the stairs"Pete babe show them around please"

Next morning

The next morning i was up at 4:30 Pete was going to get up with me but i told him to go back to sleep, i didn't have to twist his arm much

By 8 Mamma D, Dave and Red had arrived and mum was getting up with the help of Lauren, i had lent them both some of my clothes, luckily we were all pretty much the same size.

As we all sat down for breakfast laughing about old times Lauren spoke up

"Hey Elizabeth-"

"Call me liza, Ellie or Beth, but not Elizabeth people only call me that when i'm in trouble or there meeting me for the first time, your family" she smiled wide budging me with her shoulder

"Sorry, Liza, i was wondering is that your guitar up stairs?" i looked at her shocked "I didn't snoop i promise its actually in the room Pete told me to sleep. It has To ED from JR" i laughed smiling at her

"Its E dot D you just can't see the dot its from a very old friend of mine he passed away a long time ago it was a gift he gave me on my sixteenth birthday"

"That's a nice gift what does E.D mean" i smiled looking at Pete out the corner of my eye

"It means Elizabeth Du...nham" Everyone laughed at the table "Okay you can stop laughing now" i felt the blush running up my chest were everyone can see it i don't know why i wore a strapless shirt with short's "Okay, okay i get it i loved Pete back then to at least i knew what i wanted even if it did take me a long time to get it"

"Awwwwwwwwwwww" everyone said around me i laughed kissing Pete

"Do you know how to play?" Lauren asked

"Play? that girl can sing dance and play" Red cut in

"Shhhhhhhhh" i said trying to kick her under the table but i missed

"Can you sing something for us?"

"Ahh" i looked at Pete then turned back to Lauren "Sure why not"

"Cool ill go grab the guitar" she quickly jumped up running away a minute later she was back

"Ahh okay well here goes

Two hours later Pete had left to take Mamma D home, while Red, Dave and Lauren had gone back to the hospital and there house to get everything to bring back here because we all decided that once mum passed Lauren would come live with us, it was better that she stayed with family, Lauren had been so happy to hear that she quickly wrote up and contract having mum sign it along with Pete and i we all found it really funny but Lauren was dead serious, mind the pun.

Jackson was laying in my arms asleep when mum spoke up

"Elizabeth, please hear me out before you say anything okay" i nodded i turned laying Jackson down on the little day bed with pillows and everything around him blocking wind and the sun.

"When i came back after all these years i didn't expect you to run into my arms and hug me and love me again like you did when you were a kid, i came back to really say sorry to you and Dave i just wanted to get to know you both, find out what kind of life you had good or bad. I guess it was bad" i shook my head

"There was good in there but a lot was bad"

"And now that i know i understand that and i'm so sorry that he ever treated you and Dave. If i could go back and change all that i would" i nodded "But i am really glad your happy now you have your own son your own husband to make amazing memory's with" i noticed while she was speaking her eyes kept closing and her breathing was hard "and not do the stupid shit i did. I guess this isn't really coming out how i had it in my head" i smiled "What i'm saying is don't be afraid to fall in love, with anything and everything life is to short to let life slip away from you, cause that's what i did, Be happy, smile all the time don't let your past fuck you over" i nodded

"You know as much as i have wished over and over again that you had never left when i was young and all the stuff wouldn't have happened with dad and I think about it now i wouldn't change a thing, that life brought me the love of my life it brought me new and amazing things i love my life, i wouldn't change it for anything"

"Good that's how you need to live don't ever change a thing" She slowly stood up "I'm going for a little walk around the yard, sit and relax you will need the strength"

"For what" i asked

"Life, baby girl everything" she kissed my head "I love you, your sister and your brother you are my baby's okay" i nodded why was she saying this."Go lay down with Jackson get some sleep ill be okay this old lady now's how to look after herself for awhile" i stood up and laid down next to Jax, while she went for a walk. As soon as my head hit the pillow i felt the tiredness hit me. A few minutes later when i felt sleep start to take me i heard a small thump noise, i rolled over and then froze.

"MUM"

HI guys i'm so sorry it has been so long i don't have a computer at the moment and ive been writing in my book but that doesn't help you guys haha please tell me what you think i would love to know if it was good.

There's going to prob be another 5 or 6 more chapters and then were all done i promise i will try to make sure it won't be this long between chapters again
