As soon as I exited Maria's home, I spotted the Doctor and Rose pulling back in front of the house across the street where the boy Tommy lived with his parents. They jumped off the bike, put away their helmets, and walked towards the door. I silently followed after them, curious as to why they were trying to talk with the neighbors. Why didn't they do what I did and talk with Maria? She was the source, wasn't she? Shouldn't she be the one to talk to?

I quietly stood at the bottom of the steps. As the Doctor reached forward and rang the doorbell, I crossed my arms and watched them. It bugged me that neither the Human or Time Lord noticed me. Did they just forget about me? Okay, yeah, I didn't ride along with the two of them after the police car…but did he think I was going go far? How would they find me? It's not like I can text Rose's phone any longer. Mickey kind of has it now.

The door opened and Tommy's father stood there. "Hiiii!" the Doctor and Rose said together in unison. It was in perfect harmony too. Kind of creepy, though.

Tommy's father thought so too. He regarded the two of them with suspicion. "Who are you, then?"

"Let's see then, judging by the look of you - family man, nice house, decent wage, fought in the war - therefore, I represent Queen and country!" The Doctor brought up his psychic paper and showed it to the man real quick before putting it back away. "Just doing a little check of Her Majesty's forthcoming subjects for the great day. Don't mind if I come in? Nah didn't think you did, thank you!" He then barged right by the man with Rose trailing along behind him.

That's when I decided to announce my presence.

Just as the man was about to shut the door, I darted up the steps and stuck my foot between the door and wall. I cursed softly under my breath at the pain but quickly ignored it as I shoved the door back open and grinned at the man.

"Excuse me!" the man hollered. He then got a good look at me and snarled. "Oh, it's you. The American."

"Hello!" I wiggled my fingers at him.

"Go away!" The man started to slam the door again, but I slipped right on by him.

"Yeah…I'm with him," I told him. "Doctor?"

"Yes, yes!" the Doctor exclaimed. He came over beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "She is with me."

I smirked at the man who looked ready to pop a vessel. "See? So show some respect, sir."

The Doctor hurriedly pulled me down the hall before something could happen. Like a nice argument…or a good fight. "Nice of you to stop by, Krystal," he murmured.

I shrugged. "Oh, you know me. Gotta be the last one to the party."

His eyes rolled as he released my shoulder and said loudly, "Not bad, very nice!" Gonna assume he was referring to the decor. We then entered the living room and I instantly plopped onto the couch. "Very well kept! I'd like to congratulate you, Mrs…?"

The woman stared at the Doctor as he moved her beside her. She looked like she didn't want to answer but did so anyway because he had asked. "Connolly."

Mr. Connolly re-entered the room. He seemed to ignore Rose and me, especially me, as he grinned over at the Doctor, his arms behind his back as he stood up straight. "Now then Rita, I can handle this. This gentleman's a proper representative!" The Doctor gave the terrified Rita a quick wink which went unnoticed by Mr. Connolly. Rose casually perched herself on the arm of the chair beside the couch I sat upon. "Don't mind the wife, she rattles on a bit."

"Well, maybe she should rattle on a bit more," the Doctor said back in response. I snorted and quickly covered my mouth with one hand while Tommy and his father stared in shock at the Time Lord. The Doctor gave me a raised eyebrow in amusement. With my other hand, I waved at the Doctor to continue what he was trying to say. "I'm not convinced you're doing your patriotic duty," the Doctor continued. He glanced around the room. "Nice flags. Why are they not flying?"

The man nervously looked over at the flags that the Doctor had been referring to. He turned back to his wife. "There we are Rita, I told you - get them up, Queen and country!"

I scoffed at the man. In my time, there was none of this treating other people like dirt. We were all equal. A man, for instance, did not just go and demand his wife to go and do something that he could easily do himself. If you were a good person, you deserved respect.

Rita nodded at her husband, though, and looked at the Doctor. The Doctor, on the other hand, was staring at Mr. Connolly with a bit of disgust. "I'm sorry—" Rita started to say to the Time Lord.

The Doctor gave Rita a quick finger to indicate to hang on. He started to move a bit, closer to the man as he told his wife, "Get it done! Do it now."

"Hold on a minute—" the Doctor tried to get in. Mr. Connolly didn't seem to hear him, though. "Like the gentleman says-"

The Doctor tried again. "Hold on a minute. You've got hands, Mr. Connolly. Two big hands! Why is that your wife's job?"

"It's housework, innit?"

"And that's a woman's job?"

"Course it is!"

I growled, my eyes flashing red, but I decided to remain quiet as I saw that the Doctor looked like he had the situation under control. I crossed my arms over my chest and instead bit my lip before I could say something that I probably shouldn't.

"Mr. Connolly, what gender is the Queen?" the Doctor asked him.

"She's a female," Mr. Connolly told him in an obvious voice. "And are you suggesting the Queen does the housework?"

I gave a wide grin. Beside the Doctor, I saw that even Tommy was trying hard to hide his own smile. The Doctor had his father trapped. Even if Mr. Connolly fully believed that women were meant to do housework if he said something like that about their queen, he'd be in hot water. "No! Not at all!" the man quickly told us.

"I sure hope not," I added. "I mean she is the queen and all. She has help that does that. Women AND men."

The Doctor picked up a string of flags and held them out to the man with a hard stare. "Then get busy."

"Right, yes, sir." Mr. Connolly took the flags from the Doctor and moved to a place where he could hang the flags. It wasn't that hard to tell that he was faking his enthusiasm for the Doctor so as to not get in any trouble with a "proper representative". "You'll be proud of us, sir! We'll have Union Jacks left, right, and centre!"

Rose suddenly then stood to her feet. She faced Mr. Connolly and placed her hands on her hips.

"'Scuse me, Mr. Connolly, hang on a minute! Union Jacks?" she asked him.

Mr. Connolly paused in his hanging of the flags and stared at her confused. "Yes, that's right, isn't it?"

"That's the Union Flag," she said. "It's the Union Jack only when it's flown at sea."

I raised my eyebrows at her and then over at the man in surprise. I actually knew that. It was something I learned in school. I just had forgotten. It's been years. That's a nice one on Rose for remembering, though. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tommy's smile fully come to light as he watched the situation.

Mr. Connolly quickly apologized. "Oh…oh, I'm sorry, I do apologize!"

Rose gave a wide sassy smile. "Well, don't get it wrong again, there's a good man." With a little bit of force, she then added on, "Now get to it!"

I laughed as Mr. Connolly quickly went back to putting up the flags. I honestly feel that if Rose didn't let her jealousy get the best of her, she and I could be decent friends. Maybe not best ones, but friends none the less. What she just did to Mr. Connolly…I liked it. It was funny, it was sassy, and it put a rude person in his bloody place. It was something that I would totally do if I had an opportunity to do so. But her jealousy just got in the way of everything. Even if I was okay with what she did to poor Mickey, this jealousy would still make things a pain in the butt and we'd never find any peace between the two of us.

I just feel bad for the Doctor. Caught in our crossfire. He wanted to make things right between us, but there was nothing he really could possibly do. He could try, but I don't think he'll succeed.

Rose gave the Doctor a smile before taking her spot back on the arm of the chair. The Doctor, still looking bewildered at what Rose had done, moved and sat on the couch with me.

"Right then! Nice and comfy, at Her Majesty's leisure!" he said. He then said quietly to the blonde Human, "Union Flag?"

"Mum went out with a sailor," she responded just as quietly.

"Oohohohoo! I bet she did!" he chuckled. "Anyway, I'm the Doctor and this is Rose and Krystal," I waved at my name to show I was Krystal, "and you are?"

The Doctor looked at Tommy who in turn looked surprised to being addressed. "Tommy."

"Well, sit yourself down, Tommy," the Doctor said as he scooted over to the side and patted between him and me. I quickly moved over as well as Tommy came over and sat in the spot the Doctor had told him to sit in. The Time Lord then patted the other chair by the couch for Rita to sit in, which she instantly did. "Have a look at this," the Doctor said once we were all situated, his eyes directed on the television. He leaned forward a bit towards it. "I love telly, don't you?"

"Yeah, I think it's brilliant!" Tommy responded with a grin.

The Doctor smiled back at him. "Good man!"

I tried to watch the television with the rest of the group, but it was a little hard. Being black and white didn't help matters, but then I had no idea as to what we were even watching to begin with. I placed my elbow on my knee and then my chin on my knuckles as I stared long and hard at the television screen as I tried to figure out what was going on.

"Keep working, Mr. C!" the Doctor called to the man, glancing back to check on him. I ripped my attention from the television as the Time Lord instantly turned to Rita, dropping his cheerful act. "Now, why don't you tell me what's wrong?" he told her, speaking quietly so Mr. Connolly couldn't hear.

"Did you say you were a doctor?" she asked.

"Yes, I am."

"Can you help her? Oh please, can you help her, Doctor?" she pleaded.

I furrowed my eyebrows and leaned more towards the two of them. "Help who, Mrs. Connolly? What's wrong?"

I closed my eyes in irritation as Mr. Connolly spoke, obviously eavesdropping on the conversation. "Now then, Rita, I don't think the gentleman needs to know…"

"No, the gentleman does!" the Doctor interrupted.

Rose moved so she sat on the edge of her seat as Rita started to cry. "Tell us what's wrong, and we can help."

Instead of answering, Rita started to cry louder. She shook her head helplessly. Rose quickly got off her chair and moved over to the woman. She wrapped an arm around Rita in comfort.

"I'm sorry, come on, come on…" Rose softly said.

"Hold on a minute! Queen and country's one thing, but this is my house! What the-what the hell am I doing?" Mr. Connolly said in realization. I rolled my eyes as he looked down at the flags he held before throwing them on to the floor. I shook my head and rubbed at my face in annoyance while the Doctor propped his head on his fist. He stared up at Mr. Connolly as said man moved in front of him and started to yell in his face. "Now you listen here, Doctor! You may have fancy qualifications, but what goes on under my roof is my business!"

"All the people are being bundled into-"

"I am talking!" Mr. Connolly angrily said.

I jumped a little as the Doctor rose to his feet and loomed over Mr. Connolly as he exclaimed, "And I'm not listening! Now you, Mr. Connolly, are staring into a deep, dark PIT of trouble if you don't let me help." I lightly squeezed Tommy's leg in comfort, for myself and him. I could tell by his and his mother's faces that the Doctor was scaring them a bit. Honestly, he was scaring me a bit too. Mr. Connolly, on the other hand, was staring at the Doctor with saucer eyes in shock, probably not used to getting yelled at like so. "So I'm ordering you, SIR, to tell me what's going on!"

Banging then suddenly sounded before Mr. Connolly had the chance to even try to answer or think of some sort of comeback. The Doctor's and Mr. Connolly's eyes both rolled up and stared at the ceiling. I gave the ceiling a glance but then looked over at Tommy and Rita for their reactions. Tommy appeared a little nervous while Rita just sighed and shook her head.

"She won't stop," Mr. Connolly said slightly in fear. I raised an eyebrow at him while the banging came again, but louder this time. "She never stops."

"Who?" I asked, breaking the slight silence that followed. "Who's up there? And why do you look so afraid?"

Tommy then spoke up, directing all of our eyes to him. "We started hearing stories, all round the place. People who've...changed. Families keeping it secret 'cause they were scared. The police started finding out. We don't know how, no one does. They just...turn up, come to the door and take 'em. Any time of the day or night."

I frowned, thinking of Maria and her husband. I looked over at the television and stared at it.

"Show me," the Doctor told him.

Tommy nodded and stood to his feet. I followed after him as he led us to a staircase and then up the steps. He took us over to a door that was firmly closed. Tommy slowly opened the door and peered in cautiously. I couldn't see a thing inside of the room, though. It was pitch black.

"Gran? It's Tommy," he told the woman.

I gently placed a hand on Tommy's shoulder. This was his grandmother. And, if she's anything like Maria's husband, she more than likely is missing her face too… Tommy opened the door wider for us and to let some light in.

"'S all right Gran, I've brought help."

By the window is who I assume was his gran. Tommy stepped farther into the room with the rest of us following him slowly. He flicked on a light and I covered my mouth to muffle my gasp. It definitely was his gran who was by the window. And she indeed had no face. No eyes, nose, mouth…her mug basically looked like someone took an eraser, erased all her features, and then smoothed it over.

The Time Lord moved around Tommy and me and went up to his gran. I stayed back where I was as Rose followed him in order to inspect her blank face.

"Her face is completely gone," the Doctor said. I sighed. Even in a horrible situation, he was fascinated by what was wrong with the Human. The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and scanned her. "Scarcely an electrical impulse left. Almost complete neural shutdown, she's ticking over, like her brain has been...wiped clean."

"It's like Maria said," I murmured, crossing my arms "The face is a blank canvas."

The Doctor turned to look at me as he put away his sonic. "What?"

I blinked. "Huh? Oh. Nothing, Doctor."

His eyes narrowed. "No, what were you saying?"

"Maria said the same thing 'bout the face." I indicated my face as I glanced away from him.

"Is that all she said?" I nodded, thinking about the TV.

The Doctor then turned back to Tommy's gran. I silently pushed my way out of the room as I heard Tommy say, "What're we gonna do, Doctor? We can't even feed her!"

I'm not sure why I didn't tell the Doctor about the TV. Maybe it wasn't really important. I might have just been overthinking. Hell, maybe I didn't even see any sparks come from the TV. How could a television even take someone's face to begin with? Is that even possible?

What am I saying? I somehow exist and I'm impossible. Just like my people died at the hands of the Impossible.

Anything can happen.

I paused on the bottom step. I guess I could always check out things myself. Find some more clues. Or even just go to the source. I glanced behind me. Should I leave the Doctor's side, though? He might not be too happy if I went somewhere where he had no idea where I was. Would he notice, though, if I left? I highly doubt it. He'd have Rose with him still. Plus…if I solved what was going on…why should the Doctor be mad? I'd be helping people, like Tommy's gran. I bit my lip. It sounded selfish, though. Keeping information to myself.

I turned back around at the sound of a crash. Police were entering the house, not afraid to break whatever got in their way. They must have been after Tommy's gran like they had gone after Maria's husband.

I swallowed and held my ground as the police came up to me. "Out of the way, ma'am."

I clenched my fists. "No. I refuse for you to take anyone else." I stood up a little straighter and taller. "The Doctor is in. He'll fix whatever the problem is. He'll-"

A punch to the face, though, and I was out like a light.

First off, sorry for taking so long to update. I work two jobs and with Father's day I was working more shifts at the one job and then at my other job my coworker got fired and I've been doing everything there by myself. And it is very exhausting.

Secondly, I no like this chapter, haha. That's the other reason it took longer for me to update. It's also why it's so short. Notice how Krystal barely speaks? Yeah...that's because I wasn't sure what there was for her to say. Yeah, I could have made it longer...but I didn't want to, haha.

But anyway...she got knocked out, lol. She tried to be all cool and stand up to people in order to help the Doctor, and in return she gets punched in the face. Shows her right for trying to go off on her own. Karma, people. Karma.

grapejuice101: Well, hello! Long time no see, lol. And thank you very much.

Ash: Awesome. Exactly what I was hoping to hear. I was so afraid of making her OOC, well, actually, making any of the characters OOC, lol. Not a big fan of stories where characters act like that, especially ones that involve OCs and a canon character acts OOC just to make romance happen or action or whatever. And who knows...maybe there will be another confrontation in the future. With more yelling, lol.

AxidentlGoddess: Awesome. That's wonderful to hear. I try my very best to do so. I know I'm not the best writer, but I do like to make my characters like how a real person would act. Even if they act like Mary Sues sometimes, apparently eyes changing color is a trait of one, I don't care as long as my character is unique, you know? And very good point on Rose. I remember with Sarah Jane and Renette, but I totally forgot about Lucy and Lynda. Thank you for the reminder. And apologies for them not actually splitting up like you had imagined might happen. I thought about it, especially once I read your comment, but I wasn't too keen on the idea. It's harder with some of these episodes to change too much, like splitting up. I do hope to very soon give Krystal more spotlight, though.

kassy22: My plans for the two of them physically getting together wasn't going to be until much later unforunately. I'll try and do more "fluffy" things, like their unofficial date that the Doctor did for Krystal. And I'll explain why if you wanna know my thoughts. Read at your own risk, haha.

By having Krystal find the Doctor after his regeneration, Rose and the Time Lord already had a whole "season" of bonding time. The two already fell in love with one another and it's not going to change just because Krystal is now there. If she had come during the first season, things might be different, though I'm not sure how 9 and Krystal would have reacted towards one another, haha. Anywho, the Doctor might flirt with Krystal, but I feel he doesn't notice he is because he's more focused on Rose, you know? Then Rose is going to leave. Except, during the whole season with Martha, he's depressed still over losing her. So, the way I see it, if he didn't have time to look at Martha, why would he look at Krystal? Yes, they've been together longer, but I don't think he'll start seeing her in a brand new light. And Martha is too busy trying to get him to look at her, she won't really help matters. But then the next season, with Donna...THAT'S where I wanted things to heat up. And Donna will be the one to help get things moving along. Because I see her doing something like that. She becomes the friend that the Doctor needs, but also becomes the one that Krystal needs (since Rose despises her and I feel like Martha will probably too because of her jealousy. Krystal REALLY needs a mate, lol). So yeah...sometime during that season, not telling which episode, we will finally see some action. True action. But until then, Krystal and the Doctor will slowly grow closer and closer as nothing but friends, both being the last of their kind and all, well sorta (talking about you Master (and what was established in the 50th anniversary)).

All right. There you go. Make sense? If you read it, that is.

DevilSurvivor: Thank you very much! And here you go, lol. :D
