AN: It's been awhile... thanks for all the reviews/follows/favorites. **WARNING** This chapter contains spoilers from Age of Ultron... Also be sure to read the AN at the end. I have some ideas that people suggested that I'll get to in the next chapters.
Chapter Twenty-six:
Dark had fallen over New York. They only since of time the teen Avengers and Loki had was the clock hanging lopsided on the wall above the scavenged T.V. in the Turtles' sewer lair turned living room. Leonardo and Donatello had just returned from a stealth mission to the surface. According to the blue and purple clad turtles, SHIELD helicopters with search lights were still roaming the skies and agents with tactical gear and flashlights combed the streets. It looked like the Avengers would be having a sleepover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Leo and Donnie had also raided the closet of their other human friend, Casey, and brought back more suitable clothes for the boys.
Leo dumped a pile of clothes on Clint's stomach. Clint was passed out on the couch snoring, his head hanging off the side, after having eaten seven slices of Mikey's "secret topping pizza." Waverly was curled up asleep on the other end of the couch opposite her brother. Her head was resting in Loki's lap. Loki slipped from underneath her and donned the clothes Leo handed him. Meanwhile, Donnie distributed clothes to Bruce, Thor, and Steve while Tony played Raph in the final round of the pinball tournament Clint and Mikey had started hours ago. Finally, Natasha sat in one of the turtles' bean-bags, reading a book Leo had given her titled "The Art of War."
As Leo handed Loki his clothes, the turtle's eyes narrowed and he looked Loki up and down.
"Aren't you a bad guy?"
Loki opened his mouth to retort.
Raphael stomped over, a scowl across his face. He had just lost to Tony. "This coming from the guy who led Kari right into our hideout."
"Kari's different." Leo argued.
"Whatever," Raph said, waving his hand.
"Who's Kari?" Natasha asked, looking up from her book.
"Long story," Leo said in a tone that suggested he didn't want to talk about it. He abruptly changed the subject. "Looks like you guys are spending the night. SHIELD agents are swarming the streets."
Steve pulled a tattered hockey jersey over his head with the name "Jones" across the shoulders. "Who is this anyway?"
"A friend." Donnie said.
"Can we trust him not to blow our cover?" Steve asked.
"Casey's a hot head, but we can trust him." Raph answered.
"Does SHIELD know you guys… um… exist?" asked Bruce.
Mikey returned from the kitchen carrying a case of root beer for everyone. He exchanged a glance with his three brothers. The turtles all shrugged.
"We don't know," Donatello answered. "They've never bothered us, we've never bothered them. But I highly doubt they don't know about us."
"Weird," Tony said, finally joining them after putting his name on the pinball machine's high score list. "SHILED always has their nose in everyone's business." He glanced at Bruce who had been followed by SHILED for years before becoming an Avenger.
"We're the good guys," Mikey said with another shrug. "We keep the peace when you're off…"
"Saving the world?" Thor finished.
"Yeah but we save New York." Mikey retorted.
"New York is but a speck compared to the many realms in this universe that I have saved from destruction." Thor said defensively.
Loki rolled his eyes. "A universe which is still not vast enough to hold your ego, brother."
Thor frowned at him and aimed a half-hearted punch at Loki's shoulder. Loki dodged and took refuge back on the couch, gently sliding Waverly's head back into his lap. He looked at Raphael. "I can barely manage one brother, how do you live with three?"
Raph face-palmed as he watched Mikey chug a root beer so fast, fizz came out his nose. "Believe me Loki, I ask myself the same question every day."
"That is enough," a quiet but stern voice called out. "It is time we all got some rest."
The turtles turned and bowed their heads. "Yes sensei."
The Avengers and Loki turned their gazes to the humanoid rat standing near the entrance to the dojo at the other end of the sewer.
"Loki, you see the talking rat too?" Thor asked. Loki nodded.
Steve also looked stunned.
"Oh seriously," Tony said. "You just met four talking turtles. Is this really such a shock?"
Master Splinter gave a small knowing smile. "Bed. All of you. You must return home in the morning," he said to the Avengers.
The Avengers exchanged a glance. They would need a good night's sleep to face Fury's rage in the morning.
Natasha wedged herself between Waverly and Clint on the couch, throwing Tony an evil glare daring him to tease her for her choice in sleeping space. Steve stretched out on the other side of the sectional sofa, Thor sat in the sofa's junction next to his brother, his head resting on the back of the couch. Loki eyed him angrily, not looking forward to hearing his brother's snores in his ear all night, but settled into the couch with Waverly nonetheless. That left Tony and Bruce to the oversized beanbags on the floor. The turtles and Master splinter vanished into their own rooms.
No one slept very well. Thor's snores kept Loki up. At three A. M. Clint bolted up and sprinted towards the bathroom, cursing Mikey's pizza. Tony couldn't get comfortable on the floor. Steve was too busy worrying about what Fury was going to do to them in the morning.
"Guys, I think we really screwed up big this time," Natasha whispered into the darkness.
Clint had emerged from the bathroom, wiping the mouth with the back of his hand. "Yeah, eating Mikey's pizza was a bad idea."
Natasha rolled her eyes. "I mean the comic-con thing."
"Oh yeah." Clint said. He dropped back onto the couch which startled Waverly awake. She sat up, flinging Loki's arm off from where it had been resting across her shoulders, causing him to slap Thor in the face. Thor gave a startled grunt and woke up.
"Wass goin' on?" Waverly yawned.
"Mornin' princess," Tony drawled.
Loki shifted so he and Waverly were sitting side by side and his arm was draped around her.
"It's three in the morning," Steve answered Waverly. "None of us could sleep."
"Oh." Waverly rubbed her eyes.
"We're all just worrying about going back to the Tower tomorrow," Bruce said. No one had realized he was awake too.
"I don't know why you are all so worried. Fury will just blame this all on me, as he always does." Loki said.
"It's not about whose fault it is," Tony said, clearly remembering that this was all his idea.
"I'm just ready to be back to myself," Natasha said.
The others nodded their agreement.
"Do you think we'll remember everything we did as kids when we turn back to normal?" Clint asked. He glanced sideways at Natasha remembering the homecoming dance.
Bruce, ever the scientist, shrugged. "I don't know. This is science no one's ever seen before."
"Magic," corrected Loki.
"Same thing," Thor argued.
Loki rolled his eyes.
A noise at the other end of the sewer broke off the conversation. Everyone looked over. Raphael was emerging from the shadows, two figures with him. He was holding them by their collars, a boy and a girl.
"These guys friends of yours?" Raph asked roughly. He shoved the two humans forward. "Caught them lingering around out in the tunnels. Said they were looking for you."
Donatello entered the living room and switched on a light, rubbing his eyes. "Raph, it's three A. M. What in the shell are you doing?"
Mikey and Leo trailed in after him.
"Heard something rustling around outside. Found these two." Raph gestured to the two humans before him.
With the lights on, the Avengers could see the two figures better. The girl had dark hair. Red makeup ringed her eyes and she wore a black dress that fell to just above her knees with a red leather jacket. The boy had white-ish blonde hair with darker roots poking out. He was tall and muscular, dressed in a tight fighting running shirt, sweatpants, and Nike tennis shoes.
The Avengers' eyes widened as one. Both Waverly and Natasha couldn't help but look over the boy. Loki and Clint both frowned. Tony meanwhile, eyed up the girl. The boy took a step forward and protectively pushed the girl behind him. The two looked very different but there was a strange similarity in their features. They couldn't be older than sixteen.
"So, you know them or am I kicking butts tonight?" Raph asked.
"Who are you?" Steve asked.
The girl pushed herself out from behind her brother. She spoke with a Russian accent. "Wanda Maximoff. This is my twin brother."
"Pietro," the boy said slowly.
"Have we met before?" Tony asked.
Pietro glanced at his sister.
"You do not remember?"
Tony exchanged glances with his teammates and Loki. "Uh, anyone else remember the Wonder Twins? Cuz I don't."
"We fought with you in Sokovia."
"In what now?" Clint asked.
It was Natasha who answered. "Sokovia. A small country near Russia. Part of the former Soviet Union."
"And we fought there?" Tony asked. "With Wednesday Adams and Silver Surfer here?"
"Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver," Pietro corrected. "But you knew us as the Enhanced."
"Will someone please explain what's going on?" Mikey whined.
"I would if I knew," Steve answered.
Wanda sighed. "After the battle, we were made Avengers. We traveled with you back to your headquarters after we defeated Ultron. Then he showed up." She gestured towards Loki. "He did some magic even I do not know and we ended up as children."
"Then a few weeks ago, we became teenagers." Pietro added.
"Sokovia," I remember now. "Ultron."
Tony whistled. He remembered to. "Wow, talk about PTSD."
"That must have been a seriously bad fight if we all repressed it." Clint said.
Wanda shrugged. "We were all badly injured afterward. SHIELD treated us with the TAHITI program. I only remember because my mind is… different. It cannot be tampered with."
The turtles exchanged glances. "And I thought our lives were messed up," Mikey said.
"But if you were turned into kids by Loki's magic, where have you been all this time?" Natasha asked. Her own Russian accent was leaking through her American one after listening to the twins.
"We were all turned into little kids. We were scared and confused. Pietro took me and we ran off before SHIELD turned up to…"
"Babysit us," Pietro finished.
"Once we figured out what happened and that my magic couldn't fix it, we tried to find you." Wanda said.
"And we've been dodging Fury's angry hunting dogs all night." Pietro jabbed his thumb at the ceiling, indicating the SHIELD agents still looking for them.
Steve rubbed his eyes. "Can things get any more bizarre?"
"Don't ask, they just might," Loki responded.
Bruce rubbed his temples. "Fury's probably been looking for them this whole time too."
"Yes," Pietro said. "We however have been behaving ourselves."
"You mean being boring," Tony said.
Wanda rolled her eyes.
"Well I personally am happy to have another girl in the group." Waverly said. "The amount of testosterone in here is suffocating."
Natasha and Wanda began speaking in Russian. "Hey, no fair," Waverly pouted.
Pietro frowned at his sister. "They agree with you," he said to Waverly.
The girls all broke out in giggles.
"Well there's one good thing," Tony said. "Maybe Fury won't be so mad at us if we come back with them."
"You guys didn't get turned into the opposite sex, did you?" Clint asked.
Pietro shook his head. "That was pretty clever, though. The stunt at the Comic-Con."
Wanda rolled her eyes again.
"See, told you," Tony said.
Master Splinter arrived in the room. "Did I not say it was time to sleep?" He looked at the two new comers and sighed. "My sons, if you continue to bring humans in here, our secret lair will no longer be secret."
"They're Avengers too," Raph said.
"Very well. Now go to bed. All of you."
AN: OKAY... so as much as I loved Age of Ultron I had a few problems... 1)CLINT IS NOT MARRIED... noo he and Natasha have to end up together so that's what I'm sticking to. 2) Natasha & Bruce... noooooo 3)PIETRO DID NOT DIE! I refuse to believe it. So yeah. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are going to be in the story but I changed things a little bit... and the thing about TAHITI, it was the only way I could think to introduce Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver since the Avengers haven't mentioned them at all in this story. Anyways, hope you like!
