SURVIVING THE TITANS!
By: GhostAnn
Chapter Twenty-Six:
Vlad stared up at the ghost that appeared from the vortex it was a large barely creature with a muscular yet lean body. Its head was like a mix between a lion and a monkey. The ghost was wearing armor and stood a good 30 feet tall. Vlad felt that the black tendrils of control had lessened as the ghost had appeared. The figure looked down at the millionaire halfa and snarled. Vlad swallowed, feeling his limbs fill with the icy chill of fear. "Vladimir." The ghost sneered. "We need to talk."
"Y-yes!" Vlad felt a weak smile reach his face. "Of cores!"
"Robin!" The group yelled as the figure stood in front of the shocked Danny, a green fog still oozing from his body. The blast of Jacks bazooka had missed him and Danny by just a mere few inches.
"Damn it…" Jack said looking at the now exhausted weapon. "I missed."
"You're alive!" Starfire jumped on Robin hugging him. He rapped an arm around hers and smiled.
"Yeah…" He whispered. "Sort of…"
"Jack!" Maddie yelled looking at Robin intensely. "Drop the bazooka!"
"Good idea!" Jack said doing as she said and pulling out his gauntlets. "Fist to fist is much more effective!" Maddie sent a glare at her husband and he froze. "Or… I'll just wait till I understand what's happening."
"Robin?" Maddie asked walking up to the boy wonder. "What happened to you?"
"Uh…" Danny said when Robin's gaze staid locked on the ground, his jaw stuck tight. "Slade and Plasmius struck him with this strange ray… he… he's a ghost Mo- Maddie."
Maddie glanced at Danny shocked, her face holding distrust and fear. "What?"
"He's… Kinda… like an artificial ghost." Danny whispered.
Maddie looked to be in thought. "That's not posible." Maddie said.
"I'd beg to differ." Robin said bitterly. "But we have bigger issues." As he said this the ground rumbled. "We've got a killer ghost- thing outside bent on word domination."
"That sounds bad." Jack said.
"No kidding." Cyborg said. "Not only that I don't think I can help in my condition."
Maddie looked to the Cyborg and gasped. "What happened to you?"
Cyborg grinned. "Not much, I just got struck by a mean sound bite."
Danny's hand went up to his chest as he realized that he was the reason Cyborg was out of commission. "M…my ghostly whale…" He whispered. He bit his tong as he felt the tendrils again working into his mind, gaining strength off of his fear and sorrow. "NO!" He snapped shaking his head.
Maddie looked to him her eyes narrowing as she noticed the thin metal bar around his nick. Standing she placed her hands on it gently remembering the one on Danny. She looked at the ghost, as he looked to her, his eyes wide and red. She blinked, as they faded to green. "This band…" She said.
The ghost boy put his hand up to the band, his fingers just inches from hers as he looked down. "It's a shock collar." He whispered. Maddie recalled her strange dinner with Danny and Vlad, and her throat tightened as she recalled Danny jumping as if he were being shocked. She felt a rage build up in her, but she held it back. This wasn't the time for that, as she eyed the device looking for a way to take it off. "There doesn't seem to be a way to take it off." Danny Phantom looked up to her with wide and surprised eyes. "I was going to remove it in hopes of convincing you to fight with us." She said.
The ghost smiled bitterly looking away. "The remote control that Vlad has probably is the only thing that'll release it." He shrugged his voice reaching nearly a whisper as he spoke. "I don't mind helping you guys… if we can get it from Plasmius."
She took a sharp breath. "Look," She said glancing at Jack. "I'll get Cyborg back in working order. You just need to promise not to turn on us."
"I'll do my best." Danny whispered, looking away from his mother, knowing that at any moment he could be lost to the darkness.
"Jack!" She spun and looked sternly at her husband. "We're going on the offensive!"
"Yes!" Jack cheered pumping up his hands.
She looked to Jazz and asked a question that had been nagging her. "Jazz, honey… where's Danny?" Jazz glanced to Phantom and Maddie fallowed her gaze. Phantom looked away from her rubbing his nick gingerly. Watching as Tucker now studied the band on Robin's neck. Maddie suddenly felt sick. No. She told herself it can't be.
"He's at home." Jazz said and Maddie sighed with relief.
Then she frowned. "He left you here?"
"What?" Jazz asked.
"He was here earlier, I lost him in the castle. Why would he leave you here?" She asked.
"Oh… he came… with us… to fight ghost… with the Titans." Jazz said, her words slow. "He said he saw you, but after he lost you… he felt really scared and… weak, so he went home. He said he wouldn't be much help…"
Maddie blinked. She liked the idea of Danny being home, resting in bed. A nagging feeling told her it was a lie, but she ignored it. Her son was home. He was safe. She smiled at Jazz. "Thank god. Are you alright sweetie?"
Jazz nodded. "Mom, what are we going to do?"
Maddie's face grew stern, "We're going to fight."
Vlad stood, his legs trembling beneath him as he glared up at the ghost before him. What was just described to him was crazy. He couldn't stand how scare he was. It was disgraceful. "You are a mad man." Vlad said suddenly.
The beast laughed. "The kettle calling the pot black." Slade growled. "Stand back Masters. If you won't join me, you'll just have to watch as I bring this world to its knees."
Slade lifted his hands and the sound of screeching filled the air as ghost flew to him. "Go!" He ordered in his overpowering voice. "Seek, and destroy."
With that order the ghost sped off laughing with maniacal delight. Vlad shuddered, fighting to keep his body still.
"Now…" Slade stopped as there was an explosion that came from the mansion and something came flying toward the large ghost.
"Wahooo!" An annoying voice reached Vlad's ears and he squinted to see Jack standing at the source of the explosion just as something exploded colliding with Slade. "Look out ghost! Jack Fenton is on the case!"
"Titans Go!" Robin shouted as he flew up out of the building out from behind the large ghost hunter. The five teen's fallowed him out, rushing forward.
