Wow, 26 chapers already. Can't believe the story got this far! :) Thank you for reviewing, following and favoriting it, it really means the world to me! :) But, sadly I must say that there are only five more chapters to the end of this story.
However, here's the new chapter. I really hope you'll like Emma. Please, review and let me know what you think :)
When we stopped in front of the motel Emma had booked rooms for us, I quickly climbed out of the Impala and headed to the room she was in. She had called to inform me she managed to get rooms with kitchenette so with the boys had to buy supplies for the next couple of days. The boys went to check the perimeter. It was about noon and I was starving, knowing the Winchesters, so were they. Emma opened the door with an umbrella in her hand holding it ready to hit me with it.
"I'm not a fucking rain storm, Em" I rolled my eyes and stepped inside "That umbrella's no protection."
She screamed in excitement and threw herself on my neck
"Oh, god!" she blabbed "I'm so happy to see you, Blake!"
"Yeah" I tried to unhook her from my neck "Glad to see you, too"
In that moment the boys showed on the door, bringing our baggage and bags full of grocery. I introduced them and started preparing lunch. It turned out the two rooms Emma took were connected with a door which was a huge plus. While the boys started unpacking, I asked Emma to explain everything from the beginning.
"Well, it's definitely a ghost" Sam stated from the other room
"Gee, thanks for the revelation, Sherlock" I rolled my eyes and put four plates on the table
"Hey, where's the beer?" Dean asked shoving his head in the fridge
"Check on the door, next to the milk" I said and slapped his ass to move aside so I could go pass him and put the lasagna on the table
"So, when you said all of this started?" Dean asked and sat on the table with a beer in his hand
"A week ago" Emma answered
"Ok. Something strange happened a week ago?" I asked and peeked in the other room to call Sam for lunch
"No. Nothing." Emma shook her head
"Well, this ghost is obviously after you." Sam stated sitting next to his brother
"You get rid of everything, right? Just as I told you" I asked looking at Emma's nice blue flower-printed summer dress underlining her feminine look
"Yes, Blake" she rolled her blue eyes while tying her dark blond curls in a messy bun "Sometimes you treat me like a child"
"That's 'cause I'm worried about your skinny ass" I snapped
"The question is how he appears on more than one place" Dean said mouthful, already managed to put his hands on the food "I mean what is the ghost haunting?"
"And did you talk to Tom before he got electrocuted?" I asked trying to open my beer with no success
"Give me that, Warrior Princess" Dean pulled the bottle from my hands, rolling his eyes on my clumsiness and opened it for me but instead thanking him I just pulled him a face
"Ahm" Emma ignored the scene between me and Dean "He asked me out?"
"Like on a date?" I furrowed brows
"No, like going to a grammar lesson!"Emma sassed "Yeah, like on a date!"
"And then he got electrocuted?" Sam asked taking a sip of his beer and she nodded
"That's sick" Dean said
"Yeah. It's almost like the ghost is…" Sam started
"He's stalking her" I finished instead of him
"Wow…" Emma raised her eyebrows "Are you sure the three of you aren't sharing one brain?" she frowned at us "You're giving me creeps."
I showed her my middle finger and formed muted "Fuck you".
"Have you got any problems like this?" Sam looked a bit abash by her comment
Emma was still too busy giving me evil eye to realize we were expecting her to answer.
"Come on, Em, answer the man." I threw my hands surrendering "This is important…"
In that moment I realized it suddenly had become freezing cold and I could see my breath in the air. Sam, Dean and I rose in synchrony, pushing our chairs away, Emma looked surprised and scared. I ran to our weapons looking for the shotguns. Dean was standing in the middle of the room with nice iron knife in hand. Sam already had pushed Emma behind him, in the corner, protecting her with his massive body. I quickly loaded the guns and rushed back to them, handing the boys their shotguns. I looked carefully the salt lines Emma had made around the doors and the windows. Strong whirl of wind that came out of nowhere opened one of the windows, blowing the salt away. Silhouette, vague and frayed, appeared in the middle of the room. Three shots, almost simultaneous, echoed through the room. Emma shrieked in surprise. The figure just disappeared into thin air, the temperature quickly coming back to normal. I swiftly closed the window and put a new salt line.
"Okay" Dean breathed out looking cautiously around "That was close"
"Are you ok?" Sam looked Emma with concern
"Yeah" she nodded
"Please tell me you forgot to change your underwear and you're not haunted" I pleadingly whined
We spent the rest of the day cross-examining Emma. She couldn't remember a shit – nothing strange or suspicious. After hours of pointless questioning I gave up, plus she became aggressive and edgy. I felt so nervous and with severe headache. I was too worried. None of us mentioned in front of Emma what could happen if it turned out that there was no body to burn. She was going to be haunted for life. And that was no way of spending your life.
"I need to shoot something" I growled in desperation and stormed out of the room before start kicking the furniture.
Once outside I took a deep breath. The sun was going down. Beautiful shades of blue, pink and orange were covering the sky, clouds illuminated in different soft colors by the last sunlight.
"Hey" Dean's husky voice came behind me
"Hey" I smiled at him
"How are you?" he asked coming closer to me, I felt his fingers stroking gently my neck
I leaned back against his chest and he hugged me. It was safe and happy in his arms. I smiled and closed eyes, giving up to the warm feeling.
"Better already" I muttered "I just needed some fresh air"
He was silent. My poor Dean… so caring and still not sure how to comfort me. It was really sweet of him to come after me. I locked my fingers with his and sighed quietly feeling my body soften near his warm strong body. We just stood there, watching the sunset, silent in the little joys of our miserable hunter lives.
"We'll figure it out" he finally said reassuring me, his hands wrapped around me giving me a steady squeeze.
"Guys!" Sam's head popped up on the motel door "We've got something"
I sighed. So much with the romantic atmosphere. I followed the boys back in the room just to find Emma nervously biting her lower lip. My eyes narrowed on her with suspicion. That look on her face meant just one thing – she had done something stupid and really wasn't eager to share because she knew how I'd burst in anger. I took a deep breath.
"What?" I sharply asked
Only now I noticed how Sam silently stood by her side ready to protect her. His hazel eyes were shining in well covered emotions. But I knew him well enough. I looked back at Emma who looked a bit relaxed in his presence and still somehow tensed up. And that had nothing to do with the fact I was ready to chop her head off. I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes. I should've known better. I should've predicted that. They could be quiet cute couple together, though.
"Well…" Emma hesitantly started "There were some calls… And when I pick up the phone just complete silence on the other side…"
"And?" I asked knowing her well enough to know there was more
"And I think someone broke at my place"
"What!?" I folded my hands; I was mad at her and dead worried – why hadn't she told me?
"There was nothing taken so I thought it was just some kinds making jokes. So I only changed the lock."
"Yeah, fine" I snapped "When was that?"
"Two months ago."
"Well, congratulations, Em" I snarled "Your stalker's now dead but still after you. Is it necessary to tell you that if you had told me you wouldn't be in that position?"
"Blake…" Sam looked at me sternly
"I hate to say it" Emma mugged "but she's right. I just…"
"No" I raised my hand "I don't wanna listen" then an idea hit me and I smiled at her "You haven't read "Supernatural" yet, right?"
"She sent it to you?!" Dean asked, shock over his face; I shrugged
"I haven't started it yet…" Emma said in confusion "Why?"
"Well, you're not reading them at all." I said seeing the relief in the eyes of the boys
"What? Why?" Emma was ready to argue but I was too tired
"That's how you're gonna make up to me for not telling me your ass's in trouble. You can read them only if the boys allow you to."
"Allow me? What the hell, Blake?" Emma hissed
"I'm not gonna fight you on this one, Em. Ask Sam. If he decides, he can tell you. The choice is not mine."
I headed to the other room.
"Where are you going?" Emma yelled after me
"To get my laptop. We gotta trace those phone calls."
Hacking the phone company server was the easy part. And then there were hours of digging in bills and records and tons of useless information. After hours of staring at the screen I turned the laptop off and stretched. My eyes were sore and my back hurt, just like my shoulder. I wasn't thinking straight; I felt tired so I decided to head to bed. Emma was long gone asleep. It was long after midnight. I checked the boys. Dean was in his bed, asleep on his stomach. I smiled and carefully tucked him with his blanked and put a kiss on his forehead for sweet dreams. Sam was sleeping over his laptop – he had been helping me. I woke him up and guide him to his bed. He was a bit disorientated and it wasn't really easy to put him to sleep but finally I managed to pull the covers over him and turn off the lights. Then I collapsed on my bed, quickly drifting off.
