I'm writing the first chapter even though I shouldn't...

CHAPTER ONE

"Yes mum, I will be there" I mattered. For the past 1 hour my mother has been talking about the importance of me coming home during the winter break which was less than a week ago.

"Do you mind if I bring a friend with me?" I asked; my eyes looking up, meeting the familiar blue ones of Jessica.

"Of course not everyone is welcomed" Mum said and it was like I could see her smiling at me.

"Alright, see you in a week" I said and hang up after mum said goodbye.

"You can come" I said smiling as Jessica lifted her head looking at me; smiling as well.

"So who will be there except your parents?" she asked in an excited voice.

"My sister Mia, Twins Artie and Kevin and probably my older sister with her husband and the baby" I said shrugging.

"Elliot!" she said shouting as she waved her hands trying to help her boyfriend notice us.

"Elliot..." I mumbled as memories flooded my head. I missed her...I missed her smile and her eyes...just her...I missed her...

"What's wrong?" Elliot asked as he sat with us and kissed Jessica.

"Keep it pg, okay?" I said laughing.

"Fuck you, Brewer" he said back while flipping me off.

"Love you too, man" I mumbled and he made a face.

"Aww...did I hurt Jackie's feelings?" he asked in mocking voice.

"You did. How the hell am I putting up with you two years now?" I asked while shaking my head.

"So everything good for Christmas break?" Elliot asked and Jessica nodded as she started telling him everything I had just told her. I was paying attention though...my mind was back at her...after 2 years I still think of her...I mean uni did distract me but...that's not the reason I haven't seen her, talked to her or even just heard from her.

It's not the fucking distance either...

"Dude" Elliot said as he clapped his hands in front of my face.

"Was I spacing out again?" I asked; shaking my head lightly.

"Yup" Jessica said nodding; her blonde hair falling in her eyes because of this movement.

"Sorry" I said looking at them; waiting for them to tell me that I'm an ass or something like that like they always do.

"Is she going to be there?" Jessica asked after a while.

"Who?" I asked as I opened one of my books trying to distract myself.

"Your ex" Elliot said as he took a bite from his food.

"Elliot?" I asked.

"I'm not your ex" Elliot said laughing.

"Her name was Elliot" I said; my eyes never leaving the pages of the book.

"Really?" Elliot asked and Jessica smacked the back of his head.

"Well is she going to be there?" she asked again.

"I don't think so" I said. First year at uni I couldn't leave for winter break because I had to study. Artie had told me that Elliot was home. Last Christmas, she wasn't though. She called mum and told her that she's sorry and that she couldn't make it. So I haven't seen her since that day at the airport.

"Why not?"

"Why would she come?" I asked back; trying to keep my tone calm. Somehow talking about Elliot made me anxious.

"Because she was in love with you and you were with her" Jessica said; smiling slightly.

"Key word: was" I said looking back at my two closest friends here in California.

"You don't know that" Jessica said and Elliot nodded since his mouth was full.

"Remind me never to get drunk around you...ever again" I said sighing. It all happened at a party. A weak attempt of both of them to get me a girlfriend since they didn't realize why I didn't have any. Well...I got drunk and pretty much told them everything...about Elliot, about me and her, about the way I loved her...the way it still hurts me...the way it ended...everything.

"But this is stupid!" Elliot exclaimed.

"Yes!" Jessica agreed. "You've been alone for two years, Jack. You are just not over her yet" she added.

"I never denied that" I said; feeling kind of weird since they were both talking about my life like it was theirs.

"Then why don't you call her?" she asked; her eyes softened at my reply.

"I did..." I said shrugging. "Look guys...I have to go...see you later" I said and left, leaving no room for further talk.

"Ready?" Jessica asked; smiling like an idiot as we got into the plane.

"Yeah...why are you so excited? You know you won't see Elliot for two weeks" I said and she rolled her eyes.

" Skype. Duh!" she said and smiled.

"I can't wait to meet your dad! I have like a bunch of questions" she said happily. Jess was studying to be a brain surgeon. Just like dad. When I told her 2 days ago that my dad was a brain surgeon she flipped and started screaming like a girl that just saw her favourite band.

"You can calm down now you know..." I said as we sat at our seats and stared mindlessly at the people around us.

"Aren't you excited?"

"Well...I lived there for 18 years so not so much...I'm going to see some old friends though so that's something" I said shrugging.

"Well I'm excited enough for the both of us" Jessica said as she took my hand in hers and started playing with my fingers; something she did when she was excited wether it was me or Elliot. It didn't matter to her who it was really...as long as she had something to occupy herself.

"You're weird" I said putting my earphones on; preparing myself for the 4 hour flight back home.

"Thank you" Jess said as she put her earphones on as well.

"Let's go!" she said excited as she took a hold of her suitcase.

"Okay, calm down will ya?" I asked her laughing at her behaviour as she stuck her tongue at me.

"What are you? 5?"

"Fuck you" was all she said in responce as she waved her hand to get the attention of a taxi driver. Ι had told my parents to not come to get us from the airport because last night Evelyn and Tony went home and I know mum wants to spent as much time she can with them and the baby.

"How far is it?" Jess asked excited after I told the adress to the driver.

"20 minutes maybe" I said and shrugged.

"Drive faster" Jess said to the driver and he nodded.

"What?" she asked as I looked at her weirdly.

"I'm tired and I want to sleep" she said.

"My father won't be home until 7" I said and her smile dropped.

"Scratch that" she told the driver and let her back hit the back of the seat.

"Thank you" I said to the driver as I paid him. In front of me was my old house, looking exactly the same even though I noticed mum had planted new flowers.

"It's beautiful" Jess said and took my hand in hers as she dragged me to the front door.

"You're nervous" I said since she was holding my hand really tightly.

"Well..." she started as I knocked on the door.

"I'll get it" a familiar voice said but I ignored it and smiled at Jess.

"Relax" I told her and she smiled too.

The door opened and I looked at who was the one who opened it.

I froze.

She was wearing a dark blue dress that reached her knees and she had her hair loose...falling on her shoulders...Black hair...and those dark blue eyes that were staring shocked at me.

"Uh..."

"Elliot?"

"Yeah...uh...come in?" she said even though it came out as a question. She looked down at her feet and stepped back so me and Jess can come in.

Jess...She saw me holding Jess's hand.

"Elliot I-"

"I have to go" she said and just turned around and stormed upstairs.

"Was that who I think she was?" Jess asked as she took her hand from mine.

"Yes" I said and sighed.

"Come on..." I said and drugged our suitcases in.

"You idiot where-Well hello there" Artie said when he saw Jess.

"She has a boyfriend and he's my friend so back off, you manwhore" I said and Artie just laughed as he hugged me.

"I missed you annoying little brother" he said and called Kevin. Me and Jess said 'hi' to my mum as well and she started asking about university and how me and Jess met each other and stuff like that.

"Excuse me...I have to...go..." I said and everybody just nodded. I walked upstairs and slowly walked down the hallway. I stood outside the door...her door and just looked at it...What was I supposed to say? Next to her door, mum had placed a small table with pictures on it. I don't know why but I looked closer and one of them was from graduation. Me kissing Elliot as mum took the picture. I smiled at the memory...two years...it's been two fucking years.

"Elliot?" I asked, knocking on her door. I was expecting no answer so I was quite surprised when she opened the door.

"Yes?"

"Look, I can explain, I just-"

"Explain what?" she asked with her accent popping out. God I missed her accent.

"About before I-"

"You don't have to explain anything Jack. We're not...we're not together, you can do whatever you want" she said shrugging.

"I...I-I just thought that maybe..."

"Maybe what?"

"I could explain why I didn't call...I know I promised that I will-"

"Then why didn't you?" she asked crossing her arms above her chest.

"Will you let me finish one damn sentence?"

"Fine" she said annoyed. I took a hold of her arm and pushed her inside the room and then I closed the door behind my back.

"I did call" I said and she looked at me in disbelief.

"I didn't get your call" she said in a matter of fact tone.

"Your dad did" I said and looked at her. Her mouth fell open and she looked at me weirdly.

"My dad? Why would-"

"He told me not to call you because you were doing better...you were fighting and you were winning and he said that if you felt bad about us that you might...I don't know...Start again...I don't want that" I said and she sighed and sat on the bed.

"You aren't supposed to think for me. I waited for that call...I waited because I loved you-"

"Loved?" I asked as the word stang more than it should after two years.

"Loved, love...same" she said and looked at me as she smiled weakly. I walked closer to her and kneeled down so now I was looking at her eyes.

"Elliot...I..."

"What?" she asked as her hands rested around my neck.

"I missed you" I said and saw her smiled. "Loved, love...same" I said the ecaxt same thing she did and she chuckled.

"I missed you too"she said after a while and without me knowing a smile spread on my face.

"Umm...Jack?" I heard Jess's voice from outside;knocking the door and Elliot's smile disappeared.

"Wait,wait...don't jump into conclusions...give me 5 minutes, okay?" I asked her pleading with my eyes.

"Okay" Elliot managed to say and I quickly walked to the door and opened it.

"Yes?" I asked Jessica who was smiling like an idiot.

"Which room are you and Elliot going to use so I can take the other one?" she asked; smiling like she was sure that me and Elliot were like...back together...

"Uh...Talk to you about that in like...10 minutes?"

"Okay...I'll go call Elliot...Not your Elliot, my Elliot...wow this is going to be confusing" she said and I saw her walk down the stairs.

"Girlfriend?" Elliot asked when I closed the door.

"Friend" I said and Elliot looked surprised.

"You were sure she was my girlfriend, weren't you?"

"You were holding hands and smiling at each other" Elliot said. "Wouldn't you misunderstood something like that?" she asked as she got up from the bed.

"I guess"

"So you're not...a couple?"

"Elliot...you're the last relatioship I had...seriously..."

"Good" she said.

"Good?"

"It would suck if I was still in love with you and you had moved on" she said.

"You're still...in love with me?"

"I did just say that" she said and laughed at my expression.

"Come on" she said and extended her hand. I took her small hand in mind and she was about to walk outside when I pulled her hand and she crushed against my chest; a gasp leaving her lips.

"Jack?"

"One last thing" I mumbled and just leaned in and kissed her. Fuck I missed that. Her hands ran through my hair and my hands were at her waist as I brought her as close as I could possibly bring her. I guess I missed her more than I thought...

And now we're back together.

For winter break at least...

But guys seriously...Feedback!
