After showing Rika around the camp, the sun slowly settled down and formed the dark night sky. Tsubami tried to help but no one really needed any because the maids did almost everything for them. She wondered where the chefs were as she didn't see them during dinner, usually she would say thank you to them. The food on the other hand tasted weird, Tsubami had just gotten her food and left to her room. All around the dinning room was people in pairs.
It made her feel unsightly and kind of 'left out'
Tsubami sighed as she laid on her bed. The crickets chirped in rhythm with the cool breeze and twinkling stars. The night was thought to be peaceful at first but she flinched as she heard some shouting and crashes throughout the building. She poked her head out through the window and sighed as she saw people stomping outside the building.
A thought bolted into Tsubami's brain. If most of the maids were fan girls that would mean Kabaji had one right? She had nothing against the boy, but he was almost like Atobe's close friend/servant. She scanned down below her for Kabaji. She frowed as she saw the boy having a maid by her side too.
A chill went down Tsubami's spine. A hint that something wasn't going to be good.
Just as her fingers were on the frame of her window sill, the lingering eyes of the maids looked straight at her. Her throat was closed and she felt like she was suffocating. As quick as she could, feeling her strength coming back to her, Tsubami slammed the window shut and closed her curtains.
Their glare had the feeling of Akaya's Devil mode...but it felt even more intense. "I'm thinking too much." Tsubami says to herself shaking her head as she got back in bed. "I just need some sleep. I must be seeing things." As she said that, she had hopped the feeling would leave her...
"Rise and Shine!"
Rika's voice ran through Tsubami's year the whole time. As the older girl peeked over her blankets, she saw Rika standing there with a huge smile. "Why, get out of bed already Wakoto-san!" She said a bit too politely.
Tsubami didn't know what to say and just stared bck at the younger girl. "Eh?"
Rika flipped the blanket over and watched as Tsubami rolled down from her bed and planted her face straight on the floor. "I'm sorry!" RIka screeched as she rushed to Tsubami and kneed down. "I didn't know how to wake you up anymore and that's what my maids usually do to stubborn people."
Tsubami looked straight at Rika's face. It had feeling that everything was too unreal. "I see." Tsubami said before smiling, "It's alright. I'm fine!" She said smiling.
Tsubami gave her a reassuring nod, "H-Hai..." She looked at Rika who sat in a chair looking around the room happily. "I'll be taking a quick shower..." She notified Rika and quickly left to the bathroom with a fresh change of clothes. She took the U-17 uniform and placed it on the side. As Tsubami turned on the shower, she felt the warm droplets on her skin. She gave out a sigh of relief.
The water suddenly turned as cold as a hundred ice cubes! Tsubami tried to switch it back to hot water but realized that it was still there. She sighed as she turned the water off, running out of hot water in the morning was kind of depressing. She sneezed as she got out of the shower and dried herself with a towel.
Tsubami quickly changed and sneezed again. She blew her nose with a tissue nearby and sighed, looking at herself in the mirror. She did look a little pale but she hopped she didn't catch an unwanted cold. "I wonder why the water didn't work...maybe I should talk to the Kurobe-san and the others when I have a chance..." She mumbled to herself.
Just as Tsubami walked out the door, she tripped and fell face flat on the ground. She groaned and looked at her feet. With a confused expression, she picked up her tennis racket. How did it get there?
As she stood up, her forehead slammed onto her desk and she fell down onto the ground again. Her eyes stared at the ceiling, just what was she doing? She stood up and grabbed her first aid kit. Walking back into the bathroom, she made sure she walked as careful as she could. Staring back at her reflection on her mirror, she could see the bruises on her forehead and knee. Opening the kit, she scratched her hand on something sharp and saw the familiar red liquid dropping on the ground.
A scissor was placed inside but not as neatly as the rest. It stood out of the kit as if someone had placed it on there purposely. She let out a sigh and started placing the band-aids on her bruises and bandaged her own hand.
As Tsubami started to leave, she looked around her room and suddenly remembered Rika should have been there sitting at the chair. "Yoshina-san? Where did you go?" She called out confused. She heard and saw no one so she concluded that the girl had left; maybe Tsubami took too long in the shower. She heard a sound out her door and rushed there to look but once she opened it, no one was there.
"I must be hallucinating now." Tsubami said to herself out loud before closing the door.
Rika panted as she slid down the wall. She looked left and right before she caught her own breath and stood up. "I didn't get caught." She muttered to herself, "Of course I won't! I'm the heir to the Yoshina Cooperation!" She said to herself, letting out some confidence.
Footsteps approached the girl. Atobe raised a brow as he crossed his arms. He looked right at Rika with the oddest, and most suspicious expression he would have ever worn. Rika looked back awith pure innocence. "What is it, Atobe." You said, choking on her own words.
"Hmph, it's nothing..." Atobe placed his hand over his face in which he peered through fingers at Rika who wasn't even paying attention. When Atobe smirked, lowering his own hands, Rika looked.
"What's with the staring? Getting cocky?" Rika asked raising a brow, "But of course you'll fall in love with me huh? But too bad for you Atobe. I already have the love of my life."
Atobe flipped his hair to the side and looked away, "I have no feelings for you if that's what you're saying." He said with a cold tone. "I already have someone." With one look, Atobe started to walk away, ignoring Rika as she fumed.
"Atobe?" Tsubami asked as she walked out from her room. She was surprised to see the middle schooler there, she thought that he was playing tennis or was with his teammates. "What are you doing here?"
He took a step slowly and analyzed her. Tsubami only blinked, feeling slight embarrassed but realized he wouldn't do anything that was...improper. "What happened to you?" He asked, he wasn't smirking in triumph like he always was.
Atobe slowly walked towards her, for some reason, Tsubami started to step back, feeling slight afraid of the rich heir suddenly. "Nothing happened! Really!" She shouted in such a flustered voice that when he placed his hands on her cheeks, her voice squeaked. When she stared back at Atobe, his eyes shown his feelings...Tsubami finally understood him. "I finally understand..."
Atobe looked up at her, it seemed like he was about to say something. "I-"
"We're friends now aren't we?" Tsubami chirped towards him as she cut his sentence off. As soon as that happened, Atobe slowly dropped his arms and let out a sigh. He turned and started walking away. "A-Atobe! W-Wait a minute."
Tsubami frowned inwardly and started to run after Atobe who was walking a bit faster than she had noticed. As soon as she made it outside, she had to squint her eyes. The light made her eyes watery. Tsubami rubbed her eyes and when she opened them she looked in all directions for Atobe.
"He's not here." She said, "Did I say something wrong?" She wondered to herself as she tilted her head. With a sigh, she decided to walk the opposite direction of where she had thought Atobe was.
"Itai..." she said to herself, rubbing her even more bruised forehead. She looked at the side; a tennis ball. What was that doing here? 'Who hit it here?' She thought to herself. Picking it up by her hand, she squeezed it in her palm and threw it to where she thought the ball had came from.
"OUCH!" A voice shouted from afar. It distinctively sounded like Rika but Tsubami shook her head. There was no way Rika would try something like that, afterall, she didn't know how to play tennis; or did she? Tsubami never asked so she decided to ask the next time she saw the heiress around the camp.
"Saa...What are you doing out here? A bit lost?" Fuji asked with a gently smile as he stood right behind Tsubami. With a jolt, she almost jumped right out of her skin and quickly turned around.
"F-Fuji!" She said. She couldn't say anymore as he opened his eyes and frowned. Yukimura strolled in with a happy, content smile. He greeted Fuji who was staring at Tsubami, he himself turned to check what was going on.
"Where did you get these bruises?" The two sadists both coursed at the same time.
She could be taken a back and started placing her hand on her face, with a weary smile she started."These? Nothing too serious. I just been a bit clumsy today." She looked on the side with a slight frown before smiling at them. "That's why, you shouldn't worry about me ! It's alright. After all, I'm your senpai."
Fuji started ruffling her hair like he had started doing for a while now. With swift movement, he grabbed her hands in his and smiled as she stumbled on her own two feet. Yukimura who watched silently could only stand there and smile, his arms crossed on his chest. He took his headband off and placed it on her head. He used his hand to softly brush some of her hair strands to the side. "Your hair's a mess."
Tsubami gave an absentminded look, "Really?" She slowly raised her own hand up towards her head and tilted her head. "I always thought I didn't make my hair messy..." She muttered to herself. She was still holding hands with Fuji before she turned, "Ah, It must be you Fuji. Always ruffling my hair."
Fuji laughed and apologized softly. "Have you guys heard Kana-chan's trumpet playing?" She asked, trying to continue the awkward conversation. The two looked at each as if having a silent conversation.
"Ah, we have. It's quite comforting." Yukimura replied with a short laugh.
As the three talked, they ended up walking towards the dining room. Most people were there, eating happily and chatting with others. But there was a weird awkward atmosphere around all of them. Tsubami looked around to see the maids all sitting next to the members and some stood on the side. She thought that they acted a bit like body-guards.
Tsubami took some food and slipped out with a sigh. She then noticed that Yukimura and Fuji were gone. She stood on her toes and peered into the room from outside the door. The two were walking around with their maids.
It left a sour taste in her mouth. She didn't know what it meant but the feeling that came after was horrible. She opened the Ponta that she had grabbed from before. It was sweet, and she hopped the flavor would clear up the taste in her mouth. She washed it down with quick gulps; at first, all she could taste was Ponta and relaxed. But after a while, the feeling came back.
She threw the can out in a recycle bin and stalked back towards her own room. As she made it up, there was no one whom she had bumped into. She sat on her desk quietly and ate; the sound of the fork clinging on the plate and her chewing was the only sound that was heard in the room. Looking at the clock on her wall, she checked the time. There was still a lot of time for the day to continue...She frowned. For the whole day, she actually probably did nothing at all to help. All she did was talk, walk around, eat to fill her stomach.
Tsubami started to smack her own cheeks. 'Get it together.' She thought to herself. Never had she been in a fowl mood, but right that instant, she was quite angry at herself for not doing anything that she was supposed to do. She felt slightly ashamed. But she knew it wasn't completely her own fault...
"All done!" Tsubami said as she whipped a sweat off her forehead with her sleeve. She looked around the room; it was completely bare now. The things she had hung on the wall was taken down, everything from her desk and bed was gone and stuffed into her luggage and bag. She sat down on the carpeted floor for a second and laid down, her back on the floor. With a sigh, she looked up at the ceiling, the light whirling as it seemed. "I hope this isn't a mistake." She said, sounding a bit alarmed at her own choice of action.
She shook her head, believing it was the right thing to do. After all, she wasn't doing anything but staying in the U-17 camp. The maids were already there to help. She had thought of becoming a tennis player again...but she realized she wasn't the same person she was a few years ago. She had grew and she lacked in skills of tennis unlike before
"Well then. Off I go." She said with a small smile that she had forced herself to tug onto her face. She walked out the door, deciding to talk to Kurobe and Saito first.
As she strolled down, she felt calm at the quietness but it slightly made her nervous for some reason. Before she realized it, she had already walked to the front door of their office. She took a deep and brought her hand to knock on the door; but she never did as it swung open. There stood Rika with a slight surprised expression. She wore a meek expression and bowed before running right off.
Tsubami had thought the interaction was weird, but slide it off. Kurobe stood by the door, his arms crossed. "What a coincidence." He stated, allowing her to go in and have a seat. "I was just going to come and look for you." With that, he sat down in his own chair and crossed his legs. His face appearing more serious. "I have something to discuss with you."
"Ah really?" Tsubami asked blinking, "I actually have something to say too. But well, you can go first." She ushered with a movement of her hand and waited patiently for what he might say.
"Well, because of the voluntary work and help Yoshina-san has given us, it helps our budget..." He stats slowly, "We decided that it would be best that you are to leave the U-17 camp, unless otherwise that you would like to be a player." Kurobe suggested as he placed his hands together, a spark was in his eyes. He had seemed to want her to accept. "There is another issue to serve this purpose. Aoi-san has called us to notify that Shin is in the hospitals. It seems it is nothing serious but he is currently staying at the hospital for check up."
Tsubami was quiet. Kurobe could only wait to see the results. She brushed her hair to the side and looked with an annoyed expression. She stood up instantly, "Otou-san was in the hospital! Why didn't you tell me?" Tsubami now felt worried sick. She thought that she was only thinking of herself for the moment and not even her parents.
Kurobe sighed, "Aoi-san didn't want you to worry..." Tsubami could only nod before sitting back down in her seat.
"I would like to leave the U-17 camp. so with your offer as before, I agreed. I actually had made up my mind before your announcement." She said looking at the side with an awkward expression. "I really can't be a player much anymore. And with my parents, I decided to go."
"I see." Kurobe said in understandment. He handed her an envelope, "A small pay check." He said with a smile, "I will then see you next year or Aoi-san along with Shin might keep in touch with us."
Tsubami clutched her envelope and walked off. She was probably thinking too much. With a shake of her head, she hurried towards the elevator to get to her own floor.
"Haha! How do you think of my plan?" Rika's voice said, her voice raising higher and higher by every bit of word she said. Tsubami turned towards the corner to see Rika, "W-What are you doing here, Wakoto-san?" Rika inquired with a fake sweetness in her words.
Tsubami wore a confused expression, "Nothing. I was just going to my room. Are you alright? I heard you shouting on my way here."
"Hoho!~ I am alright!" Rika started turning and walking away, "Shuji-sama!" She shouted and ran with all her might.
Tsubami sighed as she felt like she was abandoned, but she thought Rika was acting unusual. "Ah, it doesn't matter..." She said to herself before looking at the time, "I have to leave and make sure to call Okkasan."
She walked to her room and sat on her bed, taking her cell phone out. She slowly dialed her mom's number and placed it on her ear. "Moshi, Moshi? Okkasan? Hai, it's Tsubami. Hai. Yeah, I got the news from Kurobe-sensei. I wished you told me instead of thinking I'll be worried." Tsubami let out a sigh before hearing what her mom had said, "Yeah that's true...I did worry too much when hearing the news. Is it alright for you to pick me up from camp? Really? Thank you Okksan."
Tsubami trudged along the silent hallway with her bag on her shoulder and luggage in her hand which was rolling behind her. The luggage was actually pretty quiet so she spent most of her time looking around the hallway.
Her hair fell towards her shoulders and with a frown, she scurried out the door. No one was seen at the courts, now was time for others to dine and chat. "It's like I'm a ninja." She said softly to herself and let out a small laugh. She looked around her, it just felt too quiet. Before, someone would have been next to her and they would laugh with her. But now, she really did feel lonely here. "It'll be alright. I'll just visit them."
Tsubami walked out towards the gate and saw her mom's car. With a smile, it felt like she didn't see her parents in a while. Just before she started talking, her phone started ringing. Okkasan allowed her to check her phone while he helped put the luggage in the trunk. As the two got into the car, Aoi drove, only looking at the car mirror to check on how her daughter was. She smiled in relief as she saw Tsubami smiling.
As Tsubami answered her phone she heard Niou's voice, "Puri~" He said. "You know, I'll miss you~" She blushed slightly from his teasing tone. "Coach just notified everyone about the decision. I think when I see you again, I'll give you a k-i-s-s~"
"Eh? Why would you say that Niou?" Tsubami asked in a whisper, hoping her mother didn't hear her getting teased by a boy at the least, it would make her think that she had a boyfriend or something.
"Are you saying that you don't like me?" Niou asked, he faked a hurt tone in his voice. Tsubami could only laugh through the phone. "I'm glad you laughed. Piyo~ I'll call tomorrow." with that, Niou hang up. She could only smile at her phone but started to ponder on how he could have gotten her phone number. Did she give it to him? She didn't think she had ever did.
As Tsubami got home, she realized that she had to go to school the next day. She hopped it was good to surprise everyone; mostly Aya. "If you're hungry, I'll start making dinner." Aoi said to her daughter as she walked to the kitchen.
"It's alright, okkasan. I'm fine actually. I'll just unpack my room." With a weak smile, Tsubami went up. Her phone then quickly rang, she turned it on speakers so she could talk and unpack at the same time.
"UWA!" Shuji's voice rang through the phone, he sounded pretty upset. "How can you just leave Tsu-chan?" He asked through the phone, "That Rika isn't calm. I wish you were back and was able to push them out."
"Sorry Shu-chan." Tsubami called out, "I'm -oaf- currently unpacking my things." She said with a grunt. "Isn't Yoshina-san caring? She isn't that bad."
"Give me the phone." Kazuya's voice rang through the background.
"Noo...I'm talking with Tsu-chan first! Get your turn later." Shuji said in a childish tone. "H-Hey! Middle Schoolers! Give back my phone!" He shouted, his voice now fading in the background.
"Saa...This is surprising." Fuji said, by his tone, Tsubami knew it was slightly sad. "I thought we could all be together with senpai..." With a slight chuckle Fuji said, "I'll send post-cards and letters. Even if it is a few miles near, we have to train everyday and is unable to leave."
"I understand." Tsubami said, "Everyone, Hi!" She said in a cheerful tone as she picked her phone up. The chorus of voice came back to her like loud drums and she dropped her phone. "T-Too loud...!" She shouted in a desperate tone as she rubbed her poor ears.
A few hours started passing as Tsubami talked with each member. She wrote down lists of things they said they wanted her to be written down. As they all hang up, she sighed at the slightly long list. She hadn't understand what they were trying to do, but it sounded like they tried to cheer her up. She placed the list away neatly and smiled.
Phew, finally done. The chapter may seem like a rush. But well, a few more chapters and it'll be over.
I will then move onto a new fan fic I am itching to write! .
