ah-ha! so, i know you all hate me for taking so long to update, but you all also love me cause...ha! i updated! woot! so, i am sorry that this took so long. sadly, i seem to have let school program me into non-creative thinking and it's taking it's toll on this fic. but i did start episode 4.7, and i really want to finish it cause i'm psyched about episode 4.8, so hopefully that will work over the stupidity and monocoloric wash-outed-ness of required writing in class.
so, i won't delay too much. just saying that AS OF NOW updates will be much less frequent, sadly. i've got a lead role in a play, so i need to memorize all the lines. and i have two AP courses, one in which we're behind and will be doing excessive work to make up for it. add my tendency to overthink/blow things out of proportion and you've got no time for anything else!!! gah!
anyway...
Disclaimer: not mine. except the story "The 4th Season". that's totally mine. but nothing else cept aunt nicki.
chismes: thank you! see, even though i barely know sam, i totally saw him doing something like that so i'm very thrilled that you believe it would have actually happened!!! *claps* i officially luv you!
FeelLikeRain: okay, first off, i must say...my eyes pretty much popped out of my head when i saw the 5K review. so...i love you too!!! :D it really made my day, though. and yes, i did know that you can leave reviews up to 10k words. that's a story within itself, mind you. no, rick and lily are not having marital troubles. and i'm glad you took my advice and read it slow, though i can't honestly say i predicted that good a reaction. maybe you should read this one slow, too. ^.^ ...or not. i don't think it's as good as it could have been, but i couldn't really think of anything else. *sigh*
Maxi-Luca: well, no offense, but with a name like Will Gluck, i'm not surprised. O.o anyhow. i've actually been planning a Judy/Katie talk. i'm still trying to figure out how it would happen, though. ah, and the Lily thing. well, i don't think Lily's upset about Australia so much as she's upset about the fact that he went back on his word. i mean, that's breaking trust, and i think a part of her was completely sure that he wasn't going to take the job, and then he did, and she was just crushed that she'd had faith that he wouldn't. i think in the end, she's more frustrated with herself than Rick, but maybe i'm crazy. *shrug* hopefully that explains the overreaction, though.
ptite mac: lol well i love that you love it. ^.^
Me (): lol well i don't think you're alone in your liking it better with more Eli and Grace. and i do admit, most everyone else's in the spot light. but i'm glad you still like it, thanks for hanging in there! :)

Episode 4.6: Elizabeth, Tyler, or McKinley?
Katie tapped her fingers lightly on the table, the gentle notes of a Billie Holiday song floating through her house and into the dining room, where she sat. She was barely listening to the words, half because she knew them by heart and half because she was letting her mind drift where it may. Her favorite topic of thought lately had been Jessie. The younger girl was seemingly constantly filling Katie's daydreams, in some cases, she made a brief appearance, and in others, she was center stage. Katie certainly didn't mind, though sometimes, Jessie walking into the middle of scene playing her head that had nothing to do with Katie's actual life could get a bit strange and a bit irritating. Not that she minded the Jessie part. She just found it odd that she tended to think about the girl nonstop. It was almost ridiculous; she had a life beyond love. Katie laughed to herself. No, she really didn't have a life beyond love.
A knock startled the girl out of her thoughts and brought her back to her empty dining room. Sighing, she glanced up but decided not to get the door. If it was something important, they'd knock again. Or call or something. So Katie settled back in her chair and allowed the music to engulf her once more.
Another knock stirred her from her internal peace. Katie scowled at the sound as the knocking got louder, and more frequent. Finally, the person on the other end of the door stopped, and Katie warily waited for them to either start again or leave. After several seconds of total silence, Katie leaned back in her chair.
The doorbell sounded. It was loud and shrill and pierced Katie's eardrums.
"Oh my god I'm coming!" Katie shouted finally, as the bell continued sounding off, swearing at her in bell-language. Katie cursed the persistent person and lifted herself from the chair, padding over to the front door. The bell got louder, if that was possible, and Katie scowled.
"I'm coming, damn it!" Katie snapped at the door. The bell persisted, and finally, Katie threw open the door, ready to tell off the idiot who just couldn't leave her alone.
"Good morning to you too Billie," Jessie greeted, smiling a half smile at Katie. Katie's surprise quickly turned to a grin.
"Hey Billie!" she said back, stepping aside and letting Jessie into her home, "What are you doing here?" she asked curiously, "Not that I mind," Katie added quickly, and Jessie grinned.
"Well, is it so bad that I wanted to see my girlfriend?" she asked. Katie narrowed her eyes.
"At eight in the morning?" Katie asked skeptically. Jessie bit her lip and finally deflated.
"Alright, I just…couldn't stand being at my house any longer," Jessie said, "I mean, I'm still mad at my dad," Jessie scoffed, "Lily and dad aren't talking, and it's pretty much Silence of the Lambs at my house," she sighed, plopping down into the same chair Katie had been sitting in.
"You do know that movie is about a cross-dressing murderer and doesn't have much to with silence, right?" Katie inquired, sliding into another chair. Jessie let out a small laugh.
"You know what I meant," she said, looking into Katie's eyes. Katie nodded.
"Too quiet," she clarified, and Jessie nodded.
"Exactly…and, I just had to get out of there," she grinned at Katie, "And I thought, what better place than my girlfriend's?" Katie grinned back.
"I like the way you think, Ms. Sammler," Katie said, nodding affirmatively. Jessie laughed and leaned forward, quickly giving Katie a peck on the lips.
"I like the way you taste, Ms. Singer," Jessie flirted, and Katie raised an eyebrow.
"My my, are you being suggestive, Jessica?" Katie asked, wiggling her eyebrow. Jessie shook her head and chuckled.
"I was that obvious, was I?" Jessie inquired. Katie shrugged.
"Only to a trained expert such as moi," Katie replied airily. Jessie watched the older girl, until their eyes met and they both started laughing. A comfortable silence followed, in which both girls snuck looks at each other, small smiles on their faces. A look of recognition crossed Jessie's face.
"Oh my god, is this Billie, Billie?" Jessie asked, finally hearing the music. Katie nodded, and Jessie grinned, "Thinking of me, were you?" she asked lightly, and Katie blushed, suddenly serious.
"All the time," she whispered, and Jessie stared into her sincere eyes. Neither broke eye contact as the music continued to gently play into the morning.

Lily peeked around the corner, quickly scanning the dining room for Rick before entering. Satisfied that he wasn't there, she let out a sigh and walked into the room. Nobody was there to greet her, not even Grace, and she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely. That and angry. Lily scowled.
B+W testimonial: Lily scowls: "Names are important. They give an identification, a way to introduce things. Emotions have names. Happy, Sad, Sneezy," she sighs, "All seven of those dwarfs, and then some. How the hell Snow White put up with so many emotions at once, I'll never know. But they all had names. They weren't just Dwarf 1, 2, and 3, up through 7. They were Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, Dock…" Lily pauses, "And I can't remember the last ones, not that that's important," she adds hastily, "What's important is that we've managed to name just about everything on this planet. What's the name for a husband going against his word to his wife and children?" she asks bitterly. "Oh yeah, betrayal," she scowls, "I always hated that dwarf."
Grabbing a cereal bowl, Lily wandered over to the counter, putting the bowl down and absently thinking what cereal she wanted for breakfast. It was a fairly easy choice, as Zoë usually ended up eating all the sugary cereals and Grace refused to eat anything but Special K and Life. Jessie usually resorted to eating yogurt, Eli (when he was there) assigned himself to various left-overs, and Rick…Lily scowled. She didn't want to think about Rick.
Lily finally decided that Life was the cereal she was in the mood for, and she moved to get it from the cupboard. Opening it, she glanced down to find the box completely empty. Lily stared at it in disbelief.
"Who leaves an empty cereal box in the cupboard?" she asked the silent room. When she didn't receive an answer, Lily sighed and squashed the box, slipping it into the nearby trash. She straightened and glanced at the Special K box, narrowing her eyes. No, she didn't want Special K. Lily shook her head and sat down at the dining room table, defeated. She slumped in her seat and rested her head in palm, closing her eyes and silently wishing that the world would just disappear.
She opened her eyes a few minutes later to see Rick sneaking through the kitchen on tip-toes, carefully stepping around floorboards that tended to creak and slowly opening cupboards that tended to squeak when they were opened. The momentary happiness she felt at seeing him being so considerate quickly turned to feelings of anger. She clenched her jaw and glared at him, waiting for the bustling man to notice her.
---
Rick carefully opened a cupboard, and blinked in confusion when he was greeted by only one cereal box. Special K. Rick sneered at the box, sighing in defeat, before closing the door and putting his bowl and spoon down. He turned slightly and almost jumped when he noticed Lily staring back at him, a scowl on her face. He didn't even attempt to smile. Instead, Rick bit his lip and raised his hand ever-so-slightly, unsure whether to wave and feel like an idiot or just stare back at his wife, feeling like an idiot. He chose neither, averting his gaze to his cereal bowl and opening his mouth as though to say something. No words came out.
After several moments, he glanced up at Lily again, and she was still glaring at him. Rick watched her wearily as she regarded him, and finally, he spoke.
"Lily," he started, but Lily cut him off.
"Save it," she said angrily, rising from her seat a bit awkwardly, before sending him one last glare and marching out of the room.
Rick sighed and returned his gaze to the empty bowl in front of him. It stared blankly back, and Rick shook his head and closed his eyes.
---
"You said 'Save it'?" Judy asked incredulously, watching Lily poke at her eggs. They'd decided on brunch after Lily had showed up at Judy's, muttering something about not being able to stand being around "that man" and being in the same house with him.
"Yes, I did," Lily said, looking up at her sister. Judy nodded.
"Huh," was all the younger sibling managed to say. Lily nodded.
"Yeah," she muttered.
"You know, he was probably going to apologize," Judy prodded, and Lily shook her head furiously.
"I don't want him to apologize, Judy!" Lily said, startling both herself and her sister. "I mean, it's his choice, you've already told me that," she mumbled, "But, if he's going to go, I don't want him to have any regrets. He's wanted this for so long, it's just…it's just, I wish he would have just told me earlier," Lily murmured, discouraged. Judy nodded in understanding.
"Honestly, Lils, I think if he'd confided it in you, you wouldn't have taken the news much better than you are now," Judy informed her. Lily shook her head.
"No, I would have been just as upset…but at least, I don't know, at least we would have had more time to plan everything through, you know?" she asked, "Instead of him just packing his bag for a few months and saying 'I'll be back months before the baby comes'" she scoffed. Judy shrugged.
"Men will be men, we can't change that," she said wisely. Lily opened her mouth to begin another rant, but Judy quickly change the subject.
"Speaking of baby," Judy started. Lily shut her mouth and listened reluctantly, "What are you going to name it?" Judy asked excitedly. Lily stared at her younger sibling for several moments, before a grin slid across her face.

okay, so it's mostly Lily and J/K. but it's only the first of five parts, so...chill out.
also, i keep stressing myself over this story. assure me that i'm at least not totally ruining O&A. and if you believe that i am ruining it...well, i suppose you can tell me. but that might result in an immediate termination of this story because i'm currently wired on stress.
haha, no pressure or anything. :/
so, have a nice day, leave a review on your way out...pwease!! =D
