Sixteen Reasons to Propose a Truce with Lily:
By James Potter
1. The entire Gryffindor Quidditch team has threatened to throw me off my broom if I get myself hexed again.
2. McGonagall threatened to remove me as Quidditch Captain if Lily and I get in a fight again.
3. Dumbledore threatened to remove me as Reserve Prefect. Not that I would be particularly disappointed about that, but if I get Lily to agree to a truce then doing rounds might be a pleasant experience for a change. Also, I would have to actually make it to rounds.
4. Marly's said she wouldn't speak to either of us if we keep dueling, which Lily will surely blame on me.
5. Now that we're two months into term and doing quite well for the House Cup, Lily feels alright docking points and I can take a wild guess as to who her first targets will be.
6. Remus is getting anxious about having to play messenger between the two of us because, unlike Marly, he's still speaking to both of us.
7. If Lily stops giving us her Charms notes, we're all going to fail our written exam.
8. It'll help me repair my relationship with Lily faster, because Dirk Cresswell has been hinting that he's looking to ask her out for Slughorn's Christmas party.
9. Dirk Cresswell has far more in common with Lily than I do: they're both Muggleborn, both in that bloody Slug Club, and both of them are bleeding hearts for diplomacy over dueling. Which Lily seems to conveniently recover from whenever it concerns me.
10. I'm tired of fighting.
11. Lily's tired of fighting.
12. Gryffindor is tired of us fighting.
13. The teachers are tired of us fighting.
14. Hogwarts is tired of us fighting.
15. Mum sent me a Howler for hexing her.
16. Dad made me swear to propose a truce.
