It was the last day of school as Spencer stared at the clock willing it to move signaling it was over and she would no longer have to come to this hell hole.

"It's almost over," Chelsea leaned over and whispered as if she could read her thoughts.

"Thank God," Spencer whispered back.

"Miss Carlin, it's not over yet, so pay attention," the teacher scolded her before continuing her lesson.

Spencer rolled her eyes as she looked back towards the teacher.

"Finally!" a classmate yelled as the final bell rang.

Spencer and Chelsea laughed as they grabbed their stuff and bolted for the door.

"Need a ride?" Chelsea asked as she headed towards her car.

"Spencer can we talk?" Ashley asked as she ran towards the pair.

"Never mind," Chelsea says with a laugh.

"Sorry did I interrupt something?" Ashley asked as she looked back and forth between the two girls.

"Not at all," Spencer told her as she gave Chelsea a look.

"Right well I will; talk to you later," she told them as she jumped in her car.

Both girls waived as she drove off.

"What's up?" Spencer asked as she looked back towards Ashley who appeared really nervous.

"Can I give you a ride home?" Ashley asked as she avoided eye contact with a worried Spencer.

"Sure," she replied as she followed her to her car.

The ride home was completely silent as Ashley stared straight ahead, Spencer was worried sick as they pulled into Ashley's driveway and she killed the engine.

"Can you come inside?" Ashley asked as she finally looked towards Spencer for a brief moment before looking away.

"Is everything okay?" Spencer asked as she followed Ashley inside.

"I need to get something off my chest, but I'm so scared," Ashley said as she turned towards Spencer with tears in her eyes.

"Please don't cry," Spencer told her as she wiped them away.

Ashley leaned into the touch as Spencer cupped her cheek.

"What is it?" she whispered.

"I can't get you out of my head, every time I was kissing Aiden I was thinking of you," Ashley whispered as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I want so badly to know what is like to kiss you that it is all I have thought about," Ashley confessed.

"Oh wow," Spencer replied as she wiped away more tears that fell from Ashley's eyes.

"I'm so scared Spence," Ashley whispered.

"Why?" Spencer asked as she cupped both of Ashley's cheeks willing the girl to look at her.

"I've never felt so strongly about anyone especially Aiden let alone another girl," Ashley confessed as she cried harder.

"Oh Ashley," Spencer said as she pulled the crying girl into her arms.

"Please don't hate me," Ashley sobbed as the tears continued to fall.

"I could never hate you ever," Spencer told her as she just held her in her arms.

"I don't mean to just dump this all on you, I just had to tell you," Ashley said as she pulled away and wiped her eyes.

"I'm glad you did," Spencer said with a smile.

"I ruined your shirt," Ashley said as she noticed the wet shirt.

"It's okay," Spencer told her as she waved it off.

"Let me get you another," Ashley said as she went upstairs leaving Spencer alone to collect her thoughts.

She likes me holy crap, Spencer thought as she heard Ashley return, she smiled as she took the shirt from Ashley.

"Well I will just let you change," Ashley said awkwardly as she bolted to the living room.

Spencer beamed as she quickly changed and made her way to the living room where Ashley was sitting.

"Hi," Ashley mumbled shyly as she looked away.

"I don't want you to be nervous around me please," Spencer pleaded as she tried to get Ashley to look at her. "No matter what happens we are still friends."

"I know that, it's just all so confusing," Ashley admitted.

"Well you know I'm here for you in any way you need me," Spencer assured her.

"Thank God," Ashley breathed out as she took Spencer's hand as she laid her head on her shoulder.

Spencer's heart raced as she felt the warmth Ashley's hand provided in her own. She smiled as she interlaced their fingers causing Ashley to look up as she smiled.

"Thank you for being here," Ashley whispered as she squeezed her hand.

"I always will be," Spencer replied.

Ashley beamed, "good because I don't know what I would do without you."

Spencer's heart swelled at her words as she tried not to cry.

"Don't cry," Ashley said as she wiped the tears that managed to escape.

"Is this all real?" Spencer shivered as she felt Ashley's breath against her lips.

Ashley kissed her forehead tenderly before pulling away, "I hope so."

Both girls were broken out of their trance when Spencer's phone rang, "it's my mom," she said as she answered. "She wants me back home to help with dinner."

"Okay I will see you later then," Ashley said as she held out her hands for a hug.

Spencer beamed as she hugged Ashley tightly before grabbing her stuff and leaving.

Ashley signed as she was left alone with her own thoughts, she loved Spencer that was for certain and it scared her more than she could ever put into words. What if she hurt her? What if deep down Madison was right and she hadn't really changed. She began to cry as the thoughts swirled around her head. She jumped when the silence was interrupted by a knock.

"Hey thought you could use some company," Clay said with a smile.

"Sure what's up?" Ashley asked as she held the door open for the man.

"Spencer told me what happened," he told her as he sat down.

"Oh," Ashley mumbled as her face fell and fresh tears welled up.

"It wasn't meant to make you cry," Clay joked as he rubbed her back soothingly.

"I'm sorry," Ashely laughed as she wiped her eyes.

"Spencer just didn't want you to be alone and well she's trapped doing dishes so," Clay laughed.

Ashley laughed as well, "She's too good for me."

"What makes you think that?" Clay asked curious.

"She's the sweetest person I have meant, with the biggest heart, her smile alone can make your whole day better and god her eyes, they are so blue," Ashley rambled off as if Clay weren't there.

"Do you love her? He asked bluntly."

Ashley looked up startled as if remembering the man sitting beside her was said girls brother, "yes," she whispered.

"Then tell her," Clay told her. "She loves you too."

"She does?" Ashley asked surprised.

"Are you really that oblivious?" Clay asked with a laugh.

"I guess I have been," Ashley replied with a frown.

"Hey don't beat yourself up for it, live in the now," Clay told her.

"Shouldn't you be taking your own advice?" Ashley asked with a smirk.

Clay gave her a weird look.

"You like Chelsea," Ashley said as she gave him a pointed look.

"And I asked her out this morning," Clay shot back as he stuck his tongue out at her.

"Touché," Ashley smirked.

"Look I know this all may be new and terrifying but Spencer won't let you go, she will be there for you every step of the way and I'm not just saying this at her brother," Clay told her.

"I know," Ashley told him as she patted his hand.

"I should go, it's late," he said as he stood up.

"Thanks for coming," Ashley said as she gave him a quick hug.

"Anytime." He replied as he left.

Ashley went to bed that night with nothing but Spencer Carlin on her mind.
