I really wanted to do this all in one shot, but I feel that if I made this one really long chapter it would get a little unruly, so I split it up, please enjoy :D

I own no LOK

Tarrlok took a deep breath as he looked around the room, there was a ringing a horrible screech, he knew that sound, he'd set these up for a few people that stood in his way inthe past. It was the sound of the prelude to an explosion. Thinking fast he looked around the room in a panic. The things he saw were only two things at that moment, Korra's bruised face twisting into horror and Amon's back as he ran from the building leaving everyone else behind. His heart wretched in his chest as he saw the look on Korra's face as she lay on the ground bruised and battered, yet still reached out to Amon's departing back. Amon had done this to her, he'd dragged her into this world and just like that he was leaving her alone, and broken. In the precious few seconds before the explosion, Tarrlok used everything he had to run to Korra; he had to protect her. His father tried to run after Amon, cursing his name, outside of the window he caught a glimpse of that Tahno boy about to break in, his eyes on Korra, but Tarrlok didn't even have the time to warn Tahno what was about to happen, as the second he reached Korra and flung himself over her, the bomb went off and the world went dark.

He vaguely remembered opening his eyes, his ears ringing, he was in pain, he was in so much pain, he looked down in his arms for a moment and saw Korra there, she was breathing, she was okay, he could feel himself smile, but he was fading fast. His smile fell a bit as he saw his blood drip down on her face, he wasn't so sure he would make it out of this, but it was okay. He saw Tahno crawling towards them now, looking a mess himself, but still better than himself. Tarrlok rolled away from her, Tahno could look out for her better than he could, he could barely move now. He watched eyes half lidded as Korra was dragged out of the room by Tahno and he let out a heavy sigh.

"….Ko…rra." he groaned. His vision was fading, he was losing blood, his ears were ringing, but seeing Korra get out with a chance of living, a chance of having a better life without him or his brother, made it all okay. "Live…. li….ve." the world was fading to black, his words would never reach her… 'Live well Korra'

He was sure he was dead… so the dreams, no matter how comforting they were, confused him. He dreamt of the one time he could hold her in his arms, her blue eyes, her voice calling his name, her laugh, it kept him sane, it kept him from being afraid of what exactly was going on. If he was dead, that was scary, if he was alive, but stuck dreaming, that was scary too. At least if he dreamt of hers, then it was less scary.

"Tarrlok?" He heard her voice it sounded closer than it usually did when he thought of her, it sounded like it was right next to him. The darkness begin to be pushed away by the light, as his eyes opened. He cringed, were lights always that bright?

"Tarrlok!" Her voice was really close now, his head turned, he ignored the pain of his eyes opening and looked at her. Just like the lights, she looked brighter too.

"Korra? W-what happened?" He stammered, relief washing over him at the sight of her face, she looked healthy. Her bruises looked far more healed than he expected, most were faded away, her face looked a bit fuller, but she still looked exhausted, strained, her brows pulled into a deep furrow as tears forms in her eyes, but a smile came to her face as she reached for him, her hand landing on his.
"You were in a coma, you just… I'm just so happy… you're awake now." She stammered, furiously wiping tears from her face, "I'm so sorry, Tarrlok, if I'd just listened to you, you wouldn't be here right now, I should have stayed at the house with you, I should have-" She stopped as Tarrlok gently squeezed her hand back. He could hear his heart monitor racing, he was too excited to see her, he was worried how sad he would feel when he realized that this was a dream

"Korra, none of that… is your fault, I'm just happy that you're okay." he said trying to hide his own fears, "How long was I out for?" he asked slightly worried about the answer.

"Four months." she murmured softly. The world warped as the words hit his ears.

"Four months." He repeated somberly, "What happened to the others? And you, you are okay too right?" If he was out for four months, the others have been hurt and even if she looked okay, who knew what she'd been through these past few months.

"Amon and Yakone disappeared." she murmured, "Nina… didn't make it out, Tahno here just woke up a two months ago." She pointed back at Tahno who stood silently in the corner of the room looking out of the window, "There was a second explosion it hurt him, but he kept me from getting too banged up. They say you surviving the second one was a miracle though." she smiled somberly, "I'm so glad you made it out okay." she smiled as a single tear rolled down her.

"Korra, I'm glad you're okay." He smiled patting her hand. No wonder she looked so tired, she was dealing with so much the past few months if everyone was gone until Tahno woke up a while ago.

"Korra, you should go rest, you got to see he was okay, but think about your health too." Tahno called from his corner of the room before walking over, "You've barely eaten lately, you're stressed, it's not good and you know it." Tahno went on. Tarrlok didn't miss how when he went to help her up, his eyes landed on her stomach and Tarrlok's heart sank. No wonder her face looked fuller, her stomach had a little bump in it that hadn't been there before. His eyes flew wide open as he watched the scene before him. Korra looked down tiredly admitting she may have been overdoing it as Tahno held his arm out for her, supporting her as she stood there looking so tired, and she let him support her. Was she… pregnant? From the protective way that Tahno stood over her, he had to assume it was Tahno's kid. His heart sunk to a new low as he realized that the one woman he dreamed of waking up to find, was already pregnant by another man. He could understand it though, it hurt, if in the last few months of her suffering, Tahno was the one who could comfort her, he couldn't be upset.

"Ah!" Korra exclaimed, her eyes following Tarrlok's gaze to her stomach, "I-I really didn't want to cause you trouble, it was just-" She stammered, embarrassed, she pulled the sweater she was wearing closer, trying to hide the bump, but it was too late.

"You don't have to explain to me, if Tahno here can make you happy, then I won't protest. Congrats kid." Tarrlok forcibly smiled at Tahno who only scowled in reply./p
p style="text-align: left;"br / "You don't get it do you?" Tahno scoffed, "The kid isn't mine, but who else was gonna help her out while Amon was away, and you were M.I.A?" Tahno replied bitterly, "I'll be out in the hallway when you're ready to go, Korra. I guess there are still things you two should discuss." he scoffed before shuffling out of the room.

Tarrlok watched in absolute confusion as Korra nodded and Tahno left in a huff, "What.. did he mean?" Tarrlok asked slowly, his groggy brain trying to process the situation. Was the kid Amon's? Had Amon run away leaving Korra behind not only to deal with his mess, but with a child? The thought made his blood boil. In the past he understood his brother's destructive nature it was their childhood that had made Noatok become Amon and their childhood that stole Tarrlok's innocence. Though Tarrlok had been okay with Amon destroying his life, since there wasn't much left to destroy, but hurting Korra's life? Korra seemed to know what he was thinking because she hardened her face and shook her head, before letting out a long sigh.

"Y-you and I when we were drunk…. I don't think we… I uh…" Korra flushed looking down at her stomach. Tarrlok stared at her dumbly. what did that have to do with Amon? Wait… Was she saying what he thought she was saying? His heart skipped a beat and she suddenly looked panicked by his silence.

"I know it was a one night stand and it's my fault too." She stammered shutting her eyes. She couldn't bear to watch him reject her, "I know you have your political life to worry about, and having a scandal with some underage orphan that went missing years ago wouldn't go over well at all, so I don-" His lips stopped her words as he tucked his hand behind her neck and lifted himself up to kiss her square on the mouth. The child was his.

"Korra. I'd leave it all." Tarrlok looked her dead in the eye as he spoke, she looked shocked, but he meant every word. From the moment he told Amon he'd take Korra away, he was prepared to rearrange his life to be with her.

"What?" She asked, her eyes springing open in shock, her face flushed red.

"I'll leave it all, if it means I can stay with you and.. our child." He said his eyes still wide in shock as he spoke, just saying 'his child' was shocking enough. She looked at him a moment and almost laughed, he wasn't serious… was he? The honest look in his tired blue eyes spoke of a future, not empty words.

"B-but your job." she stammered, flustered, afraid to get her hopes up, but he firmly held her hand.

"Korra, you were here when I woke up. You've been waiting here haven't you? Can I take that to mean you wanted to stay with me?" Now it was Korra's turn to stare at him her mouth hanging open wordlessly. It was overwhelming. All she could do was nod.

"I… before the explosion, I planned to return to your house, Tarrlok, after I broke things off with Amon I… I was going to return to your mansion and talk things over with you about… whatever was happening with us… But then Amon went crazy…" She paused, closing her eyes as she remembered that day, "Tahno told me what you did, you threw yourself over me to protect me from the explosion. I knew then that returning to you would have been a good choice, that maybe we had something…. Then I found out that I was pregnant.." Her hand landed on her stomach as she looked down thoughtfully, "At least for me it's been a long time since I've even talked to you… I'm honestly a but hesitant about that decision now, but at least for the sake of the kid I wanted to try to wait for you…"

"Korra, the only reason I was even at that building was because I was looking for you. I never planned to let you deal with Amon alone… you seemed like you were having a hard time, you seemed unhappy. I didn't plan to leave you then and I don't want to now, but I won't crowd you… I understand a lot has happened… four months is a long time to be apart, but I will support you." Tarrlok assured her, his voice still sounding tired. He could see it, she was the same Korra, she was still strong, but her strength now came from her desire to look after the baby no matter what. He couldn't blame her for being hesitant, she'd been through a lot, Amon used her and left her high and dry, he knew that the explosion of his home, the press would have showed up almost immediately and seen Korra, and if she was the only one aware enough to be interviewed, for two months, she must have suffered alone until Tahno had awoken. All of that suffering alone could take a toll on a person, he wouldn't ask her to be with him romantically, but he at least wanted to be a part of his child's life.

"You and I never really went out or anything though… it seems like the only time I was with you was when I was arguing with Amon…" She chuckled weakly, rubbing her hand against her forehead.

"Well, did you like staying with me?" he asked simply.

"Well… yeah." she blinked.

"Do you want to stay with me now?"

"….Yes." She said after sometime. He couldn't be sure if she was saying it because it was the best option for her or because it's how she felt, but he'd take her word. Tarrlok hesitated before he asked his next question, not sure if the timing was right.

"Do you think you'd want to leave if Amon returned?" He asked simply. If she wanted to stay with him, that was fine, but he didn't want to get his hopes up about them being like an actual family if that wasn't what she wanted. She hesitated for a moment, and he was afraid she might say no, but her face slowly twisted into an angry frown and she could see her hatred for Amon in her eyes.

"I would never go back to him." She growled instantly, her hands shaking over his with anger. She never knew it was possible to hate someone so much until Amon turned against her like that. Amon hurt her deeply with all that he'd done, all that he told her was a lie, he never loved her, how could he if he'd left her there and ran like a coward with his mask!? There was no room for forgiving him in her heart, not now. Had she not been told by the doctors that Amon's actions almost cost the life of her baby, nearly cost her the ability for her to ever have children, she might have been able to forgive him, because it would have been about her and him, but now there was another life in the equation. Korra always knew if she had a child she would never leave it, she would give that child the love she could never have even if she had to do it alone, Amon nearly taking that child away, was enough to make him her enemy for life.

Tarrlok was taken aback by the strength of her reaction, but knew he could trust that she meant what she said, just as she always had.

"You're not alone." Tarrlok said sleepily patting her hand. Though he hand't been awake for long, he was getting drowsy, "As long as Im alive, you won't be alone, ever." he assure her, fixing his eyes on hers so that she knew that he meant every word, "Now you should go rest, you look tired and it's not good for our baby." He couldn't help but smile as he said that. He'd spent so much of his younger life hoping he never had a child, hoping he never had to worry about anyone but himself, but with Korra, it didn't seem so bad. He was actually a bit excited. The thought of having a child with her was… nice. His tired mind began planning, he wanted to marry her, he would have to get a new home since his old one was ruined, but he was fine with a fresh start. He wished he could hug her right now and hold her tight, but even after all of this time, the scars on his flesh were still a bit raw, he still had stitches from what he could assume were surgeries and he suspected that if not for whatever medicine he was on, he'd be in a lot of pain right now.

"Okay," she smiled gently, pulling his hand to rest on her stomach. She was very unused to human contact after these last few months, other than her friends occasionally helping her, but she really did want Tarrlok to feel some sort of connection to the child… even if everything he said was a lie, she did want him to be a part of this kid's life no matter what, even if he tired of her the way Amon did, it didn't matter to her anymore, only the child did. "But you also have to rest, you have to get out of here and be healthy for the obvious reasons." She smiled. Seeing Tarrlok smile with this look of wonder in his eyes as his hand landed on her stomach made her feel even better about all of this. He did seem interested in the child. Good. "See you." She smiled awkwardly, she hesitantly bent down, she thought to kiss him on the lips… but she couldn't, it was too much of a rush, she wasn't signing up to get hurt again, after a moment, she planted a kiss on his cheek before scrambling out of the room. Korra went out in the hallway to meet Tahno who stood in the hallway staring at a vending machine before he saw her and turned to walk over to her.

"So I can take it from that smile on your face that things went well?" Tahno smirked mildly as he walked over.

"Yeah. Pretty well." She smiled tiredly, "It looks like things will work out okay."

"I won't be having to hold up on my offer then?" Tahno asked, his smile a little sad. Korra's eyes went wide for a moment. She shouldn't have been saying all of this toTahno. All of this time, Tahno had been at her side, he'd promised to never leave her no matter what happened, he said if Tarrlok ran off or never woke up, he'd take care of her and the kid, marry her and claim the as his own to make it easier for her. She knew then that he'd liked her, he'd liked her enough to genuinely care about her happiness, he never went over the line, he only helped as much as she'd let him, and though he'd become a dear friend to her, but they both knew all along what would happen when Tarrlok woke up.

"I… I'm sorry, Tahno." She replied softly hanging her head she could't even look him in the eye.

"Ahh, it's fine." He chuckled, putting his hands in his pockets and heading for the door, "I don't know if you noticed, but I'm a catch, I could find someone else in no time, so don't worry about me. Let's just get you something to eat and get you to rest, I already called Asami to come meet us, since Bolin is busy prepping for a fight. You coming?" He called smiling over his shoulder.

Korra smiled, "Sorry, I think I might just go home and rest, you should go eat with Asami though, knowing her she'd probably already there and I'd hate to have her walking home alone."

"Oh, I-uh…." Tahno turned to face her with his eyes wide, "I understand, I'll drop you at Tenzin's and and then drop Asami home."
"No, you should eat, you're always fussing over me, but I'm alright, just sleepy." Korra really wished he would go eat with Asami. She'd seen how Asami had been looking at Tahno lately, but she also knew that as long as Tahno was helping Korra, Asami would never make a move. The last thing Korra wanted now was for Tahno to be hurt, she wanted him to be happy too, even if they weren't together. Tahno was a good friend, she wanted him to be happy and she really thought that Asami and Tahno would be good together, all she had to do now was create opportunities for them. " ." Tahno shrugged, "I'll pull the car around then." He said heading out of the door.

Korra watched him go in silence. Her friends were good to her since everything went wrong, and she would always make time for them, but now that Tarrlok was awake, she'd have to put a lot of time into building their relationship up enough were she could trust without a doubt that he wasn't going to leave her and the child the way Amon had left her. She refused to let herself be that blindly trusting, or that naive again. Before all of this, love seemed so great, having the attention of so many powerful men had went nearly unnoticed by her, but if she was going to have a child, her and that child's well being was the priority, not her heart or her feelings, she was not going to invest those in anyone anytime soon. Tarrlok was the smart choice for her, and she would do all she had to do now was keep his attention. Her hand fell to her stomach again and she looked forward with a look of determination, she actually thought Tarrlok was an alright guy, but she knew he wanted her heart and she didn't quite have that to give to him, but if she had to, for the child… she'd fake it. Even if it hurt, she'd give anything to take care of this child.

This is only part one of two…. but Korra is pretty emotionally traumatized by Amon's departure, he said he loved her and then left her, now she doesn't trust in 'love' anymore. Sucks. Anyway, the very last bit of this might be up very soon, it's halfway done already, I really want to get this finished haha.

- SORRY THE FIRST UPLOAD OF THIS SOMEHOW GOT MESSED UP! IT IS FIXED NOW!
