Chapter 26: Shadows of a Doubt Part 2
Carly remembered when she was young and how she began to take pictures.
flashback scene.
There was bunch of kids watching a duels and one of them was over with a boy attacking his opponent with Flying Penguin therefore winning the duel.
Carly was taking a picture of the two boys dueling. "What a scoop, that's your third win in a row.
The boy turned around with a smile. "Hey all in a days work."
"How about one more shot?" Carly asked. "But I'm the photo janic one." The other boy said pointing. "Yeah you great getting your butt kicked." The boy joked.
Carly then sat down with a friend. "I don't get it Carly you're always taking pictures, so what do you get out of it?" The girl asked. "Oh I never thought about that." Carly replied. "I suppose if someone does something cool I want to share it with the rest of the world."
"Why, the world is a big place, so how would two photos make a difference?" The girl asked. "Well its not just pictures its trying to be a good person too so you can try to make a difference cause if you can reach one person then you can reach them all."
end of flashback scene.
Meanwhile Jack and Carly's duel was still on. Jack was showing the female reporter her broken glasses. "I know you're in there Carly you maybe be a Dark Signer on the outside but the real you is still inside the girl who wants to make the world a better and I'm gonna get her back."
"Yes Jack.." Carly began to say but she drove off. "No this is the real me!"
"Carly wait!" Jack called out as he drove to follow her. "Wait for what Jackie, your mind games this is my destiny to be a Dark Signer and yours too so when I win you'll join me to rule the world!" Carly proclaimed.
"I showed what the future holds don't you see, its pointless to resist."
"You're wrong the future hasn't been decided yet even though you've shown me that illusion but you've also shown me the light." Jack said.
Carly gasped and remembered the sunset they saw at the tower in New Domino City.
flashback scene.
"That's right when I was lost you went to help me find my way." Jack said. "You can use what you learned to go forward think of it this way: Old Jack Atlas lost to Yusei but then new Jack Atlas was reborn you can go back to the Satellite then right your wrongs and you can say your sorry to your friends then things can go back to the way they were."
End of Flashback.
"Those words were true and now I'm not giving up on you not to mention that the reason the I played the trap Changing the Destiny you see it has another ability once its activated you can either regain half life points to the half of your monsters attack or deal damage to me to half of your monsters attack points." Jack explained. "So the choice is yours."
"Mine?" Carly asked in confusing tone. "That's right since Lady Earth has 2800 attack points you can either gain 1400 to your life point or deal that damage to me instead so go ahead and think it over." Jack said.
"(There's nothing to think about he's only got 800 life points left if I make him take the damage then the duel will be over.") Carly thought. "You fool, what did you play that card when you knew it would come to this?"
"Cause I believe that the real Carly is still there so I know she'll make the choice the right choice that is." Jack explained.
"So what's it going to be Carly?"
"(Its going to be like I said all along I'll win this duel then you'll become a Dark Signer and together we'll rule a new heir of Darkness now to make it happen.)"
"I choose the effect that will deal damage to.." Carly stopped when she looked into Jack's eyes. To..to..to..your..She tried to say. She rememberd when she dueled for him in the hospital, to him to have fun a carnival. giving him comfront, and then meeting him again after she left with the other Dark Signers.
"I select the effec that keeps your life points safe." Carly said turning her head away. Jack was surprised.
Carly: 5000
As Carly's life point was increase Jack noticed Carly's eyes were normal. "Is that really you?"
"I think." The reporter replied. "Thank goodness you're back." Jack said. "Same here I'm so sorry for everything I've put you through."
"Its not your fault it's because of that dark energy that inflicted you is to blame but thankfully that its gone now." Jack said.
"At last." Carly said.
Carly then began to groan in pain as she put her left hand on her Dark Signer Mark and then the dark energy to began to glow and embrace her. "Carly what's wrong?"
"You didn't think it would be that easy, when you're marked with the darkness you're marked for life." A voice said as the dark shadow appeared behind Carly. "So you're the creature that controlling Carly." Jack said.
"Quite correct and I'm not finished with Carly yet." The voice said. Carly's eyes then glowed darker. "Destroy him!" The Creature commanded.
Jack gasped. "Release Carly now!
"Only if you beat me in this duel Jackie." Carly said. "let's get to it I play the Speel Curse of Destiny when this card is in play I can place two Cursed Counters on my Lady Earth." Carly explained. "By removing one of the counters I can deal damage to you without attack however since Lady Earth attacked I can't deal the damage so for now I'll place two card face down end my turn."
"So make your move but don't bother using it to get Carly back because that ain't happening ha ha ha ha." Carly said laughing maniacally.
"Very well then I'll just remove from Carly the old fashion way with sheer force!" Jack proclaimed drawing card.
"Since you have a monster on your field and I can special Summon Vice Dragon however its attack and defense points are halved since I'm using his special ability." Jack explained.
Vice Dragon Attack 1000
"Next I'll summon Dark Resonator from my hand."
Dark Resonator: Attack 1300
"Now I tune my level 3 Dark Resonator with my level 5 Vice Dragon in order to Synchro Summon Red Dragon Archfiend!"
Red Dragon Archfiend Attack 3000
"That's quite the beast in face my favorite to bad it won't be around for long so I activate the trap Class Change which increases Lady Earth's level to level 8 which gives her extra 400 attack points making her stronger than your Dragon and now Lady Earth's second effect deals 400 points of damage to you." Carly said.
Jack: 400
"Ha ha ha ha your life points are like a flame on flickering candle and its just a matter of time when the darkness takes hold of you when you lose." Carly added.
"If that's the case I'll buy some more time by activating the Speed Spell Half Seize since I have three Speed counters half of your monsters attack are cut in half and the same half attack points your monster lost is added to my life points." Jack explained.
Fortune Lady Earth: 1600
Jack: 2000
"That means my Red Dragon Archfiend is on top of the food change." Jack said. "A lucky move." Carly growled. "I'm sorry that my flame isn't burning out anytime soon." Jack added. "In fact things are only going to get fired up now Red Dragon Archfiend attack Lady Earth!"
Red Dragon Archfiend crushed Lady Earth with it's claw.
Carly: 3600
"(Please tell me that released her.)" Jack thought. Carly then lost control of her Duel Runner and accidently driving into the flames of the geoglyph." Carly Nooo!" Jack yelled.
meanwhile back at the original Reactor Crow, Trudge, and the twins continued to wait for Yusei, Cosmo, and Shadow to return to them.
"Yusei Yusei Yusei!" Crow called out.
Yusei, Cosmo, and Shadow were in midair and suspended in the Netherworld. "I don't get it some strange man saves me from grabbie ghouls and vanishes without a trace." Yusei said. Then a light began to appear. "What is that?" Cosmo asked. "Okay maybe not without any trace." Yusei said quietly. "Let's go find out where that light is coming from." Shadow said.
The three adults walked towards the light but then came to a dark river. "Oh well looks like that's the end of this road." Yusei said quietly. "This is not the end of any road." The male voice said. "In face its just the begining.
"Who are you and did you save me from those ghouls?" Yusei asked. "Who am I, don't tell me you don't recognize your own father." The voice said as it the figure became more visible. Cosmo and Shadow gasped so did Yusei. "Listen to me Yusei there's not much time there's stil much for you to do in the Satellite Sector." Dr Fudo said. "Also Shadow, Cosmo I was told to give you these new Dueling Decks."
Two Dueling Decks appeared in front of Yusei's dad and flew towards Cosmo and Shadow. Yusei's two friends took the Decks in their hands. "Why are you giving these to us?" Shadow asked. Dr Fudo began to fade away. "Wait dad what do you mean there's more for me to do in the Satellite?" Yusei asked running after him.
"You are destined for great things but you must rise to that greatness if you wish to achieve them." Dr Fudo added. "Wait, father don't leave me!" Yusei called out. "I'll always be with you son." Dr Fudo said.
Yusei, Cosmo, and Shadow were then sent back to their friends in a light. "Hey its Yusei, Cosmo and Shadow!" Trudge exclaimed. "They're alright!" Leo said.
Yusei, Cosmo, and Shadow woke up to see their friends. "I'll remember what you said father." Yusei said quietly. "Uh are you alright?" Crow asked. "What?" Yusei asked. "What exactly happened to you three?" Trudge asked.
"Hey give these guys a break." Leo protested. "Its alright thanks for looking out for us." Yusei said smiling a bit. "Right now let's work on by looking after the rest of the world." Crow said.
Luna then noticed Shadow and Cosmo were looking at their Decks. "Hey what's with you two?" She asked. "Oh." They both said wondering what to say. "Come on guys we need to get a move on." Leo said. "Right we have to seal the two remaining towers or the King of the Netherworld will resurrect again." Yusei said.
meanwhile Jack was calling out to Carly who now had glowing purple eyes: Carly what's happening, answer me!
"There is no Carly!" Carly proclaimed. "You lie!" Jack yelled. "Let's continue I activate the trap Inherited Fortune with this card in play I can summon two Fortune Ladies from my hand until my next turn." Possessed Carly explained.
"I end my turn with a facedown." Jack said. "(Now what do I now.)"
"My draw." Possessed Carly said drawing a card. "(That last attack made Carly weak if I attack again I could lose her for good.)" Jack thought.
"Due my trap Inherited Fortune I can summon two Fortune Ladies." Cary said as she took two Fortune ladies and played them. "I summon Fortune Lady Wind and Fortune Lady Water!" She proclaimed.
Fortune Lady Wind Attack 900
Fortune Lady Water Attack 1200
"Now I activate my Fortune Lady Water's special ability I can draw cards as the same number of Fortune Ladies I have on my field and since I have two I can draw two cards." Carly explained as she drew two extra cards and looked at them.
"Hee hee hee." Carly laughing sinisterly. "I've been waiting for this moment."
Jack gasped as if he knew what was coming. "I release my Fortune Lady Water and Wind in order to summon the almighty.."
"THE WHAT?" Jack asked loudly. "Oh Jackie simply imagine your worst nightmare now behold as for 5,000 years pass and a portal that opens to the Netherworld behold the terrifying manifestation of what will be when all the spirits of the Satellite are swallowed by darkness!" Carly explained.
"(Sounds like I'm going to get a sneak preview at what's to come should the Dark Signers get their way.)" Jack thought. "I see the fear in the your eyes and you're right to tremble." Carly said playing her card.
"Descend Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu!" Possessed Carly said as her Immortal appeared from the ground and let out a screech.
Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu Attack 2500
"Behold the Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu this is what the rest of the world will look forward to." Carly said. "Now feel the wrath of the Shadows!"
Immortal Hummingbird flew towards the ex-champion with its huge beak. "(If that behemoth attacks me I'm done for.)" Jack thought. "In that case I activate my Battle Fader's ability when I'm attacked directly I can special summon it from my hand and the battle phase ends." Jack explained.
Battle Fader Attack 0
Battle Fader then rung its bell and stopped the Hummingbird's attack. 'Argh guess I'll settle with a facedown." Carly said furiously. "Now make your move cause it'll be your last!"
"Then you better believe that cause I'll use it to save Carly." Jack yelled. "You see Carly made me feel something at nobody has."
Jack began to remember the days he spent with Carly.
"I didn't realize it at first, but she made me believe in myself and when she did I started to believe in others by then Carly reached all of us."
Jack put his right hand on his chest. "I can feel everyone is with me and you may have the shadows on your side but I have the light."
just then Jack's Duel Runner glowed red. "What's this?"
Yusei, Akiza, Luna gasped.
Luan looked at her Dragon Mark and then it faded. "It faded." She said. "That's what happened to Yusei when he dueled Kalin." Leo said.
Slippy and Miles noticed Akiza's mark was glowing and then faded too. "Where did you Dragon Mark go?" Slippy asked. "I can feel Jack." Akiza answered.
Jack then felt his friends Dragon Marks gather on Jack's back. "(I can feel my friends powers inside me, I can feel their strength.)"
Then Jack noticed a light was glowing on top of his deck. "I can sense there's something on my deck that I can put to good use." Jack said as he put his right on his deck. "Let's do this!"
The card he drew was Majestic Dragon. "(If I use this then..)" He was cut by a female voice. "(You'll win Jack.)"
Jack looked to where he heard the voice. "(Carly is that you?)" He asked. "(Yes I'm here.)"
Then Jack found himself in a place where everything was white. "Now Jack listen carefully."
"Of course." Jack said. "You've done all you can but now its time that you forgot about me." Carly said. "Don't say that." Jack yelled. "You must do what you can to save the world there too much at stake not to."
"Rubbish just hold on I'll find a way to save you!" Jack said. "No Jack you must end this duel and win it now." Carly said. "If I attack you then you'll be lost the netherworld." Jack said. "If you don't I'll still be under the Dark Signer's control should the darkness win this match a lot of people will be absorbed into the darkness you must do this for me." Carly begged.
Jack hesitated but knew she was right. "Carly if this what you want then fine." He said frowning. "It is Jack thanks." Carly said.
"Now let's get to those Dark Signers I summon Majestic Dragon!" Jack proclaimed.
Majestic Dragon Attack 0
"No attacks that's fine cause I'm Tuning Majestic Dragon with level 8 Red Dragon Archfiend and level 1 Battle Fader in order Synchro Summon that has some serious bite!' Jack explained.
"Out of these monsters comes with one creature that has one thing on his mind: Taking you down!" Jack proclaimed. "I give you Majestic Red Dragon!"
Majestic Red Dragon Attack 4000
"I activate Red Dragon's ability he can negate your monster ability and absorb its attack point until the end of this turn." Jack explained. "In other words your almighty powers of your Immortal Allsa Piscu are mine now!"
Majestic Red Dragon Attack 6500
"You'll just hurt Carly." Evil Carly said. "You're right but I won't make her that sacrifice!" Jack said. (At least not alone.)"
"(With my trap Shockwave when monster on the field is destroyed both player take damage equal to the destroyed monsters attack points and since my dragon has more attacks that would be enough to save us both.)" Jack thought. "Carly we'll be together but not the way I hoped but together nonetheless and that's the that matters."
"Oh Jack you're wrong you have another destiny in store." Carly said. "No Carly its already done." Jack said as he prepared to activate his trap.
"I play the trap card Earthbound Release!" Evil Carly proclaimed. "What?" Jack asked as he stopped himself from activating his trap Shockwave. "WIth this card in play all monsters are destroyed and then you take damage to those monster attacks point in other words you've lost." Evil Carly explained. "You're wrong cause my dragon's ability is still in play so your effect is negated and you take the damage instead but why would you make such as careless move unless..."
Jack stopped at first but then he realized what was going on. "Of course its Carly she must be using the last of her strength to force your hand and save me.
Evil Carly is about to be struck by Red Dragon. "Jack I told you before you have another destiny in store for you and as much as I appreciate you're willing to sacrifice everything for me you have to fulfill your destiny after all you're going to be king!" Carly said smiling and showing card with Jack smiling and being surrounded by happy children.
"Carly!" Jack yelled.
Evil Carly is then struck by Red Dragon's counter attack. "Aaah!
Carly: 0
The Geoglyph disappeared and each dragon mark reappeared on Yusei and the other signers. "Hey look up there!" Slippy said pointing. "The Geoglyph is disappearing the duel must be over." Mina exclaimed.
Akiza then felt her Dragon mark and felt Jack is ok. "Jack must've won then." The black rose said. "Alright I knew he would!" Mina said happily. "(How could he not he's the best there is.)"
Jack then ran over to Carly and put her in his arms. "Hey Carly wake up wake up."
Carly woke up. "Jack I'm here."
"You're going to make it." Jack said. "Yes I know but not here." Carly said in weak voice. "Don't say." Jack said as he took out something from his pocket.
It was Carly's glasses. "Here I saved these for you." He said putting her glasses on her face. "Thanks even though the Netherworld is calling out to me I'll be alright I'm not scared and you shouldn't either." Carly said. "We'll be together someday."
"Right I'll everything I can to be bring you back and I won't stop fighting for you." Jack said. "That's right Jack you're my number one now goodbye." Carly said as she hugged him and he hugged her back.
Carly then disappeared.
Jack began to shake but then he got up on his feet. "I won't forget everything you done for me." He said looking at the sky where Carly was going. "I won't forget you Jack." Carly said. "I told you I'd be alright.
Yusei and his friend made it out of the underground lair. "Hey guys look!" Crow said pointing at the light dust. "Does this mean Jack won?" Luna asked. "It sure does!" Leo said excitedly. "that's great." Cosmo said. "Indeed." Shadow muttered with small grin.
"Then there only one more tower to seal." Yusei said. "I have bad feeling it'll be difficult."
