Chapter 25: Father and the Ocean Demon

"He's our father!?" Gou shouted as she looked at her brother.

"Yo Boboa, can you leave us alone for a little while please." he asked in such a serious tone that made Bo agree and leave the siblings alone.

Rin sits a bench and pats the seat for Gou to come over. She slowly sat down next to him in silence.

"He died a long time ago. I don't even think you remember him." he chuckled in such melancholy but his face quickly became so sadden. "He drowned at sea so how's is this even possible?" he runs his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah he did..." Gou said remembering what Bo said about lost souls at sea. Noticing her tone, Rin looks over curiously at her.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Bo told me this once before. When someone dies at sea, they are forever lost, roaming the seas for the rest eternity." she answered seriously.

"If the souls are doomed to be lost at sea forever, how is he here then?" Rin raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know." Gou says sadly. But then an idea hit her. "But I bet Bo knows!" she said, jumping out of her seat. She quickly pulls Rin and goes to try to find her.

...

"You mean a siren?" Bo raised an eyebrow after she heard what Rin and Gou told her about their father. They were standing at the back of the school where there wasn't anyone around.

"You mean those sea demons in the Odyssey that would sing to sailors and make their ship sink?" said Rin.

"Yeah those. They haven't seen for a very long time." explained Bo. "They are very hard to find nowadays. Since the world has stopped believing them, it is much easier to get victims. They eat souls and are able to pull lost souls out of their loop and make them their slave or something."

"So our father is a slave to a siren?" Gou raised her voice a bit too loud.

"In a way yeah. Sirens have a very unique vocal chords that lure pretty much anything. Even the dead." Bo continued. "The one who is a slave still has a free will but when a siren enforces her voice, it's like a command, making them brainless, basically controlling them."

"Do you think our father is controlled by one?" Rin asked.

"Well yeah. If he died at sea, then it is definitely a siren since the are the only creatures except Gods who can actually reach and drag a lost soul onto land." Bo answered.

"How do we free him?" Gou became serious. "He doesn't deserve to be anyone's slave. He deserves to be resting peace. I didn't know him as much as Rin or the others but this is the only thing I can do for him." Rin gently held her hand and squeezes it. He smiles and nods agreeably.

"That's when it gets dark." Bo points out. "You have to sever the vocal chords in which we have to kill it."

"Kill!?" the siblings said in sync.

"The vocal chords are in front of the throat but like humans, it is fatal and eventually leads them to bleed to death." Bo said grimly to the siblings.

"How do we find one?" Gou asked squeezing her brother's hand tighter.

"Caves, shipwrecks, anywhere they can be alone and submerged in darkness that is a least damp and moist." Bo answers. The siblings nodded at each other and looked at Bo.

"We'll do it." Rin said firmly.

"Are you sure? You can get hypnotized by their voice you know? Did I mention that they are extremely beautiful?" Bo emphasized.

"We don't care, that's our father she is controlling, hurting him or something." Gou pleaded.

"Fine, let's go hunting." Bo gave in and all three of them left the premises and went to the ocean.

...

"Can a siren actually live somewhere around here?" Rin asked as they search high and low, up and down the shore.

"They are fish like demons. They need to stay hydrated or else they look a dried prune." Bo said laying on the sand.

"Get up Bo!" Gou shouted at her. "We won't be able to find one if we all of us aren't helping out."

"I told you that they can hide easily. One can be watching us right now and we wouldn't even know it." Bo said, laying on her side. "These fuckers are like the champions of hide and seek. Finding one would be like a miracle."

"How about we try luring it out?" Rin said sitting on the sand. Bo thought for a minute and then her hair lit up to a very light yellow like it was affected by her happiness, literally.

"Boboa you're glowing!" Rin shouted and hid behind his sister.

"Must be all that electricity in her." Gou told him, giggling. He gave her a scowl and moved his eyes back onto the glowng girl.

"Mr. Drag Queen, you are not useless and stupid after all!" Bo cheered as her hair glowed brighter. "I have a plan and you are going to be playing an important part!" she cheered.

"Don't call me that!" Rin shouted at her. She keep on jumping and glowing, gaining a look of confusion and fear by the siblings.

...

"I'M GOING TO BE WHAT!?" Rin screamed at Bo after she told them the plan she thought of.

"Sirens love sexy, hot, in shape men...or women I don't know but they are into that." Bo explained.

"So I'm going to lure in a demon by showing off my body while one of you will slit her throat." he said crossing his arms.

"Yeah it's simple, easy, and no one will get hurt! Well except the siren but everything else will be fine. Your dad can rest in peace, no sea demon do harm anyone even though nothing has happened yet, everything will be smooth like Michael Jackson." Bo exaggerated.

"Unfortunately I agree with this plan Rin." Gou spoke up. "This seems more logical than to get a stranger and get him in danger. Beside we can save him Rin! Then I can at least meet him right?" She said clinging onto her brother's arm. His look of anger soften to a look filled with sorrow and love.

"Fine. If this works Watanabe, I owe you big time." Rin gave in. The girls cheered and hugged him. "Get off me!" he cried but the girls continued to hug him and cheer anyway.

"Then tomorrow night on that cliff over there," Bo pointed up to the highest cliff in the town,"is where we will snag the bag. The siren will be able to see him from there so when she gets close, we will attack." the siblings nodded and they all shook hands as they discussed more in detail about their plan.

...

"That is so cute!" the wet woman said watching the teenagers from afar as she sat on a rock, far out from the shore. "Do you hear that dear, they want to kill me to save you! Isn't is precious!" she laughed. Their father stood next to her, keeping an eye on his children.

"Please don't hurt them..." he begged, going down on all fours.

"Sorry but I have to protect myself. I haven't been here that long and I am already discovered. I wondered how that happened?" she said sarcastically, looking at the man. "I know it was you and now you are going to pay the price." she smiled wickedly as she twirled her hair. The man became frightened and began to shiver as he watched woman look at the teens with a blood thirsty look.
