Okay. I see how it is. You hate me this much. You guys didn't answer the poll. It was on my lovely profile, fairly conspicuous. But, since I'm so nice, and I love all of you way too much, I have decided to post this chapter. Beware! FEELS MAJOR FEELS! Prepare to throw your laptop and phone across the room, and scream while you're in class. I know, I'm that evil. But your author will make it mandatory that YOU ANSWER THE POLL BECAUSE THIS STORY IS ABOUT TO GET THREE CHAPTERS (PLUS) LONGER! SO ANSWER THE POLL! I am splitting the battle up into three (plus) chapters. So again, ANSWER THE POLL BECAUSE THE STORY'S LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! Okay, that sounds awkward and freaky. I don't mean those words in a creepy-are-you-a-mentally-disturbed-person-who's-going-through-a-very-weird-phase way. No. No, I'm not. Btw, if you need more explanation on what's currently happening, I suggest that you READ THE AUTHOR'S NOTES. Again, MAJOR FEELS IN THIS CHAPTER. I WILL TRY TO FIT IN ALL OF YOUR EMOTIONS IN ONE CHAPTER (POSSIBLY THREE). So, before you guys quit on me and fall asleep, here is Chapter 26: A Frozen Heart's Breath! Arendelle. Anna's home, kingdom. She took charge of it as soon as Elsa had flown off with Jack to have a little vacation. She had no idea that Elsa's idea of "vacation" was a three week stay at (supposedly) Santa's workshop with a Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and the Sandman. Taking charge of a kingdom was hard work. She didn't just have to sign papers and read letters. She had to handle Arendelle's trading alliances, and she had to perform a bunch of different tasks. Anna had an impression of dark shadows under her eyes from lack of sleep, and her fingers were aching from all of the signing and paperwork she had to handle. Without Kristoff at her aid, she wouldn't have been able to cope with the growing stress that fell upon her after each day. She found herself gaping at Elsa as she finished her speech.

"…and that's why we've come to Arendelle." she finished promptly.

Anna rubbed her eyes. "What? Sorry, I…I couldn't quite absorb all that…" she yawned.

Elsa stared at her in concern. "Anna, you have to pay attention. I said that Pitch Black is headed to Arendelle. We couldn't find him in Burgess, so our best bet is that he is here lurking somewhere in Arendelle. He's bringing along Hans, and I need you to stay safe and stay away from them at all costs. And because Pitch has come here, we've come to Arendelle."

Anna rubbed her eyes once more. "Oh…oh…" she dozed off for a minute, and Kristoff nudged her shoulder. Her head snapped back up and her eyes bulging awake, the capillaries in her eyes swelling, tainting her eyes red. "I understand! Hans is coming with Pitch Black. We need to stop him. Got it."

Jack and Elsa exchanged worried expressions. They whispered to each other in hushed tones, their glances heading back and forth from Anna to each other.

"Jack, we can't bring Anna along. She's too tired as it is!"

"I know, Elsa. But this is our best chance if we want to keep them safe."

"Their welfare is best here, in the castle!"

"No, they're safer with us on the battlefield, at least on the sidelines."

Their voices grew in volume and irritation.

"Jack! We can't risk it! I don't want Anna to get hurt!"

"They'll be fine, Snowflake. Have a little faith in them."

"She's too young. They're my family."

"She's nineteen. She can handle herself. She's a grown woman, Elsa!"

"She doesn't act like it."

Anna glared at them. "I can hear you!"

They looked back at her, glowering down at her. She backed away, and sighed. "Kristoff, Olaf, let's go to my sleeping chambers. I'm tired."

Kristoff nodded and ushered Olaf along. She stumbled on the steps a few times, but Anna was able to make it into her bedroom.

With a heavy sigh, Jack and Elsa sat on the steps of the stairs, heads in their hands. Elsa was nearly in tears, her concern and worry tainting her once serene features.

"I'm worried, Jack. You can't blame me for caring."

"I'm not blaming you for anything Elsa." He took her hands in his. "I'm just saying that she's old enough to handle herself. She's an adult, and she has Kristoff. You just have to trust her Elsa. You have to believe in her."

Elsa looked into his eyes. "How can I believe in her? How do I know what you're saying is right, Jack?"

Jack pressed his forehead against hers. "You have to believe in me, Elsa."

"Come on, Anna! Get out of your bedroom and get your sleepy red head over here!" Elsa banged on the door as she yelled through the wood.

Anna's words were muffled through the door. "Can Kristoff and I come?"

Elsa's tapped her head against the door. "Yes, I suppose. Now, are you coming or no—"

The door opened immediately and Elsa jumped back just as it was about to slam into her. Anna appeared refreshed and ready, Kristoff by her side. She had her hair in neat plaits, the bags under her eyes slightly present. She slid down the rail of the winding staircase, whooping with joy as she burst out the door. Kristoff sighed and ran a quick hand through his messy blonde hair and stomped after her. Jack and Elsa quickly followed, exchanging a kiss or two before heading out the door.

"I believed."

"Yes, yes you did."

The wind settled into an eery calm as they entered a forest clearing near Elsa's ice palace with the other Guardians, waiting for Anna and Kristoff to arrive from their ride with Sven. The night seemed to drag on tonight, stars dotting the sky, unaware of Pitch's brewing storm. The ice palace reflected light off into the clearing, making it easier for other to see. Sven arrived with Anna and Kristoff on his back, a worried look plaguing his features. A distant sound of whinnies and galloping hooves interrupted the serenity of the night, and North ushered everyone to their positions. Anna and Kristoff were the only ones left standing with no idea of what was going on.

"Um, excuse me? But, I don't really know what's going on," Anna remarked.

Bunny turned his head. "Isn't it obvious? We're going to battle Pitch!"

Anna's confused expression didn't budge. "Um, is anyone going to tell me what's going on here? Elsa? Jack?"

Apparently, Anna and Kristoff couldn't see the rest of the Guardians besides Jack. They saw the clearing as it was; green, brightly lit, and empty.

Jack cleared his throat. "Um, guys… Listen to me. You're in a forest clearing that's preparing for a battle against the boogieman, Pitch Black. He stirs the fear inside of you and reawakens it. The Guardians are here to save Arendelle from danger and fear. These Guardians consist of the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Sandman, and me. In order for you to see them, you have to believe in them. If you believe that they are real, they will appear."

Anna and Kristoff exchanged doubtful glances, but did what they were told anyway. They remembered all the happiest childhood memories, their only happiness in their little childhood world. They felt a tingling sensation that started from their feet to their toes, a happy flip tumbling in their stomachs. Suddenly, as they opened their eyes, they found a grey bunny standing on its hind legs in front of them, boomerangs in paw. Next to him stood the Tooth Fairy, her fluorescent feather trembling with every breath. She smoothed the crown of feathers on her head, her hands rubbing against the soft material. On Bunny's other side, there was a small man covered in gold dust. He wielded two golden whips that were at his sides, a bright smile on his lips. Finally, a large man standing behind them waved at them. He was clad in a thick red coat, even though it was in the middle of August. A Russian fur hat sat upon his head, his bearded face showing signs of amusement. Anna and Kristoff gripped each other tightly as their eyes adjusted to the view. They laughed in amazement; they couldn't believe it! There stood the Guardians; the protectors and guarded their every dream and hope. North smiled.

"I take it you see us, yes?"

Anna and Kristoff gaped and nodded, marveling at North's Russian accent.

The Guardians' amusement was interrupted when the whinnies grew louder, hooves vibrating their ears. Anna and Kristoff held each other and watched the sky with horror as shadows danced across the sky, leaving dark sandy trails behind. The Guardians squinted their eyes as they forced them to adjust with the growing darkness.

"They're…they're bigger."

"Stronger."

Bunny gripped his boomerangs, his ears scanned the sounds around them. "They're nearly here."

Everyone ran to their positions, Sandy directing Anna and Kristoff over to the side behind thick shrubbery and large vegetation. A large shadow hovered over the clearing, and a crowd of dark horses stood above Elsa and the Guardians. Their golden eyes glared holes into their hearts, and Pitch lowered them down to the clearing.

"Aren't they beautiful? I made them stronger. Strong enough to rid you all for good."

Jack took a step forward. "We aren't afraid of you."

Pitch laughed. "Well, I beg to differ Frost. Last time we had a little chat, you ended up breaking your little lover's heart. Isn't that right?"

Jack clenched his teeth and snarled. "You can't hurt Elsa. She's more powerful then you'll ever be."

"Perhaps," he paced slowly around the Guardians. "But if I use the right techniques…" he held up his index finger, and twirled it around, creating a tiny wisp of dark sand around his finger. "…I'll have more power than you all can wield. After all, I can see into your greatest fears…"

"…your vulnerabilities…"

He leaned close to Elsa. "…Your soul's worst sins…" Elsa shuddered, a sliver of fear swimming through her bloodstream.

Bunny growled. "Get away from her!"

He swung a boomerang at his face, and Pitch jumped back. It flew off into the distance, and raced back towards Bunny. He caught it back into his paw and sheathed it in his sash. Pitch held his hands behind his back as he paced, his fiery eyes glinting in the night. The Nightmares started to close in on the Guardians, their escape fluttering away. Pitch was interested in Jack and Elsa's relationship. He was interested because their love actually chased away the darkness. The Fear. It disturbed him to see any other immortal couple more in love. Well, at least Jack anyway. Their growing fears, it washed away with every Love's grasp, but grew onto them once more as the time between them prolonged. There was something inside that they both desperately needed.

The both needed each other.

Pitch raised a hand up slowly to the sky and a figure began to form in front of their eyes. Masculine, obviously a male. It wielded a sword that glinted darkly. The dark sand twirled into the night as the finishing touches were performed. Fiery eyes, red hair. Sideburns. Hans. He looked at Elsa with such a burning intensity; not of passion, but of hate. Fury. Fury that she became Queen. Fury that he was just some prisoner. Hate that he was so close, so close to murdering her. Pitch patted Hans' back and smiled at the crowd.

"I see that you've already met my little helper, Hans, haven't you Elsa? Quite charming, I find that his presence scares you."

Elsa scowled. "I'm not afraid of him."

Pitch cackled. "You're not afraid of him, yes." Both Hans' and Pitch's voices spoke in unison. "You're afraid of what I'm going to do."

A boiling anger within her started to grow from her core once more. Pitch and Hans smirked at the same time. Let her become furious. Let her release all of her strength and energy. Once I have this Queen out of the way, I can finally prevail. Defeating the Guardians will be easy; considering that the growing fear will be too much for them, and they'll wither away.

Pitch turned his fiery gaze to Jack. "Don't worry Jack. I'm not going to hurt her." She's going to hurt herself, and all of you here.

Jack snarled and swung his staff and Pitch, a wave of icy needles shooting towards Pitch. Pitch lazily sent a shower of black sand at his attack, and Jack's icy shards disappeared in a curtain of shadows. He stepped away from Jack, turning his attention to Tooth and Bunny.

"Oh, how sweet. The little Easter Bunny and little Tooth Fairy are finally together." He clasped his hands together.

Bunny and Tooth gripped their hands tighter together.

"It will be a great pleasure when I get to destroy the both of you."

He wanted to draw anger from both couples. This was his plan. But no one noticed. Pitch walked slowly towards the ice palace and hesitated as he was about to step onto the icy stairs.

"Oh, and Jack; I'll make sure that you suffer in this battle. After all, you do want to have a little fun, don't you Jack?"

Jack glared at Pitch, his anger boiling in his veins, coursing up his spine, racing across his nerves. Pitch will not get to Elsa, he wouldn't. Pitch had no intention of going inside the palace, and he stood in front of it as if waiting for something. Suddenly, he whistled, and his Nightmares trampled over to his aid. They crowded behind him, the dark tendrils of their tails fluttering in the wind. He was mounted on the largest Nightmare, eyes gleaming.

"Boo."

The Nightmares charged towards the Guardians, and North and Sandy brought them over to one side of the clearing. Hans snuck behind Elsa, sword raised. Bunny and Tooth quickly pushed him out of the way, and began to fight with Hans. That only left Elsa and Jack. They were side by side in front of Pitch, ready for his every attack. Pitch smiled at them, and began to slowly walk towards them.

"I see that you've brought more guests…The little red head and the blondie…"

Elsa raised a hand in front of her, ready to defend her family. "Don't you even dare…"

Pitch pushed her hand aside. "Oh, Elsa. The Snow Queen that couldn't control her powers. The sister that killed her other. The lonely Queen, the Queen that is in love with a mere Spirit. A spirit people cannot see…"

Elsa's eyes widened with each word. "Stop. Stop telling me lies."

Pitch gave her a smug smile. "But, isn't it the truth? You couldn't control your powers. You struck your sister in the heart with your powers. You feel lonely. You fall hopelessly in love with someone that will never age. You're going to grow, you're going to grow and age. You may even grow out of your little crush on Jack."

Elsa felt the anger inside of her grow. "No. You're wrong."

But Pitch had moved his attention to Jack. "Isn't it lovely how anger takes over your entire body? How the fury just boils over, and dominates you? You think that your anger is right; that being angry will release incredible power and destroy the darkness. But…doesn't anger make things worse? Regret. Pity. Remorse for things you love."

Jack gripped his staff tighter. "I don't follow."

"You see Jack, you've witnessed your beautiful Queen destroy an entire circle of my Nightmares in one go. She uses her incredible power to destroy. She can't use her powers without cause. Her anger, it boils over. Anger. These emotions, these emotions will only make things worse. With every attack you use, the darkness remembers. It won't fear your attack. Fear is your enemy. Fear is alive. And fear doesn't show mercy."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "I still don't understand."

Pitch laughed. "Let me put it in a simpler way for your little adolescent mind. Anger will only ruin you, Jack. Her anger will destroy you and the others."

Jack wrapped an arm around Elsa and held her close. "You can't hurt her. She's more powerful than you, she's the most amazing person to be around. You won't take her away from me, Pitch. You're no match for her, and you're no match for US."

"Oh, but techniques, Jack. Techniques are very, very powerful."

Jack shoved his staff at the air in front of him, and a blast of ice shot out towards Pitch. Pitch cackled and sent a burst of sand towards his attack, and the darkness swallowed it up. Pitch raised his hand up, and another crowd of Nightmares formed. Elsa and Jack grit their teeth.

"I guess this ends our little conversation."

The dark horses galloped towards them with incredible speed, and they pushed Elsa down with their hooves. She felt her ribs bruise as their hooves pounded against her chest, shoving her to the ground. She groaned and blasted the first three in the heart with her powers. They melted away into shadows, and she stood up slowly. The Nightmares circled around them slowly, searching for an obvious weak point. Jack shoved his staff into a Nightmare's heart, and the Nightmare dissolved into black dust. The moon began to cloud over with the growing darkness, the light becoming much dimmer. The Nightmares knocked over Jack, and his staff clattered to the ground. He reached out for it, but the Nightmare kicked it away. It stared into Jack's eyes, nostrils flaring. The world around him spun, his breathing quickened. He started to struggle, trying to push the Nightmare off his body. His attempts were in vain. One of the Nightmare's dark tendrils snaked its way in front of the Nightmare, and it touched Jack's forehead. His eyes closed, and his body went slack. His fingers were inches away from his staff, his grasp frozen. Suddenly, everything went quiet. The silence was unsettling, the summer heat and the growing panic arousing beads of sweat on Elsa's body.

"No! No Jack!" Elsa cried out. "He can't be dead, no!"

Pitch smiled. "He's in something far worse then death, my dear."

Jack started to scream, his fists clenching at the summer grass under him. "Elsa! Elsa NO! Please, please…" His body started to tremble convulsively, the pain too much to bear.

The Guardians stared in horror as Jack writhed around on the ground, his yells and screams growing louder. Tears started to stream down his face, and his head rocked side to side. "Elsa," he sobbed quietly to no one. "Please, come back to me…"

"He's in his worst Nightmare…"

Elsa burst into tears, and she felt her fury grow. "What did you do to him?" she spat out each word with growing hatred. She grasped one of Jack's fingers, his skin cold and numbing.

Pitch chuckled quietly. "The question is, what did YOU do to him? Such sweet dreams…"

"What did you do to him?" she snarled again, her voice growing in volume.

Pitch lazily looked at his fingers, his expression blank.

Elsa growled from the back of her throat, but didn't respond. Pitch waved his hand around, and a dark screen appeared. (oh no, not the screen!) It was dark at first, but then…

That horse…that horse was going to be the first thing he was going to stab when he woke up. Darkness overwhelmed him, the shadows engulfed his very soul. When the darkness subsided, he had entered some kind of other dimension. He stood atop a building, the city lights dimly glowing in the night. Burgess. The scene was warped; it seemed strange. Jack had been here over a hundred times, he should know Burgess. He explored his surroundings, letting his feet slide against the hard roof. His gaze landed upon a dark figure hidden in the shadows, and his instincts told him to move closer. He was curious. Jack glided into the shadows, and his eyes widened at what he saw. The shadows unveiled, the figure in the moonlight. She was beautiful, her hair moving in the wind. She was flawless, her pale face dotted with light freckles. Her cerulean eyes gazed into his, and her lips upturned in a bright smile.

"Jack!"

He smiled, and stepped towards her, his arms outstretched. But the other pair of arms did not return his embrace. She wasn't alone. Another figure stood beside her, his grip on her threatening and strong. His gloves pressed into her skin, his brown eyes full of deceit and vengeance. Hans. His face morphed from Pitch's to his own, his eyes fiery and then returning to a flat brown. Jack's growl emanated from his lips, the sound vibrating from the back of his throat. Hans had a sword in one of his hands, the blade on her neck's beautiful patterns.

"You knew this was coming."

And then he slid the metal against her neck. There was a clean, slitting sound, and the blade left her skin. She screamed in agony, and Hans let go of her. He disappeared into the shadows, leaving her crumpled to the ground. The wound on her neck wasn't meant to give a quick death, but a slow, painful one. Jack could feel her life leaking out, an invisible slither in his own neck streaming through his bloodstream. He scooped her up in his arms.

"Elsa! Elsa NO! Please, please…"

Her blood dripped slowly out of her wound in thick streams, her eyes glassy and fragile. She weakly fingered his lips, her chest heaved with each breath. Jack felt his tears roll down his face, and he held her face in his hands. She gave him a sad smile, and the pool of blood around her grew. Her blood stained her clothes and stuck to her skin. Jack took her hair and hid her wound with her braid. Red oozed onto each strand, and she laughed weakly, wincing as her body shook. Jack leaned down and moved his lips against her weak smile. He pulled away and took her hand in his. Her skin felt so cold, so very cold. She started to cry.

"Jack, I can't…I can't hold on much longer. It hurts, Jack. It hurts."

Jack hugged her close and shook his head. "Don't leave me Elsa. Please, your sister needs you. Arendelle needs you… I need you."

"J-Jack…"

Elsa took one last heart shattering breath, and fell limp in his arms. Her hands slid away from his shoulders, her spilling blood stopped to a halt. Jack gasped and pulled her away from him slightly. Her head lolled lifelessly away from him. Her hair swung to the back of her neck, the wound in her neck visible, blood congealing at the edges. Jack cried out, his head buried into Elsa's neck. Even in death, she was still beautiful. He pushed her eyelids down, hiding her empty blue stare.

His tears dropped onto her skin, the sound echoing like the shattering of glass. "Elsa, please, come back to me…"

His pleads were unanswered, the stars in the sky twinkling. He cried harder; his other half, his beautiful Snowflake…

Elsa gasped and struggled to breath as she saw Jack cry. His pleads sent her own set of tears to roll down her cheeks, her grip on his pale finger tightening. She needed to remind Jack that she was all right.

"Jack," she whispered in between her cries, "Jack, I'm right here."

She choked on her breath as his cries grew louder. "I'm sorry, Elsa! I'm sorry…"

Elsa pushed away the Nightmare that stood in front of Jack, its dark tendril touching his head. She slapped its head away as it tried to bite her, its sharp razor-like teeth reaching at her soft flesh. As she struggled with the Nightmare, more dark horses started to step towards her. She was angry; angry that everybody saw Jack so vulnerable; angry that Jack was so close yet he was also so far away; angry that Pitch had hurt Jack; and angry that Jack didn't know that she was all right. She had to muster up the rest of her energy, every tiny drop. She closed her eyes and felt her palms numb. She crouched down, and felt the numbing grow throughout her body. She straightened her body, and outstretched her arms. Her power flew out of her body and palms in a blue light. The blizzard within her had been released; her emotions bursting. The Nightmares cried out and dissolved to dust as her power pierced through their dark sickening hearts. She breathed out and fell to the ground, dizzy. She touched Jack's head, and caressed his face with her hands. Hands that were full of life and very little energy.

"Jack, I'm here. I'm all right. Wake up, please, Jack."

She kissed his lips and traced his cheekbones. She felt a pair of hands slowly wrap around her waist, and the body against her sat up carefully. They parted for air, and smiled at one another.

"Elsie," he grinned cheekily. His tears had left stains on his face, but his eyes never seemed brighter.

Elsa hushed him by ensnaring his lips with hers, and he stood them both up. Jack twirled her in the air, and they both laughed.

"Don't leave me, Elsa."

Elsa held his face in her hands. "Never, Guardian."
