Song Inspirations: "Here With Me" - Dido & "Start Again" - RED

Chapter 26.

Crash. Tiny shards of glass and a puddle of water were now on the ground. Completely startled, Elena jumped and looked at the mess she and Damon had created. She glanced to him apologetically knowing it had been her hand that had pushed the water glass off the counter and on to the floor.

"Don't care." He uttered. "I'll worry about it later."

His lips dove back into the hunger-crazed make out session they were having in the kitchen of his apartment. This was no ordinary heated passion though. This was love. Every kiss and touch was driven by love.

Twenty minutes earlier he found himself in a different kitchen, one belonging to Elena and her roommate hearing the three magic words he had so desired to be said from her. They came out like a song. He could hear her saying it over and over again in his head. It was heaven.

Not being able to keep their hands off each other and accepting their relationship for what it was and how they felt, Damon decided to take their celebration back to his place seeing as he didn't need Caroline judging from the next room over. What he wanted was wild and crazy passion to erupt. What he wanted was to finally show Elena what she had been missing.

The decision to take their excitement elsewhere seemed right, but the drive back to his place seemed impossible. He held her hand tight the entire way back resisting from jumping over the seat and attacking her with his mouth. She was his and he was hers.

Once out of the car, they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Up the elevator, in the hall, and stumbling into his apartment now breaking glasses, they were wrapped up in each other. Dismissing the broken glass, he pushed her back into the counter and he grinded his hips into hers. She moaned into his mouth and he smirked. Tonight was the night. He had been waiting for this moment for what seemed like forever.

"Bedroom." Elena mumbled between kisses.

Not wasting another minute, he bent down and scooped her up letting her long legs wrap around his waist. He carried her as she continued to kiss the corners of his mouth and he tried to navigate them to his bedroom. It was like he was drunk, but a good healthy kind of drunk in her love sort of way. He couldn't get enough.

The room was dark seeing as the sun had set and no lights illuminated the space. He didn't care though. Vision was not needed. The only senses he needed were to touch and hear. He wanted to feel every inch of her body and hear her scream his name at the right moment.

Flopping her on to his messy bed, he yanked his shirt over his head and climbed on top. It didn't take much for her to lose some clothes too. It was all moving so fast and he wanted to slow it down. This moment needed to be embedded into his mind forever. As she laid half naked on his bed, he gawked at her body. Even in the dark he could see how perfect she was. God had been too kind to her. She was blessed in all the right ways.

"What are you doing?" She asked in a hush tone.

"Admiring you." He answered.

Her cheeks had to be pink and warm. The way she shifted beneath him was enough to know him taking a moment to capture her beauty embarrassed her.

Taking a mental picture, he ran his hands down her thighs and pressed his lips to them. He worked his way to the inside feeling the warmth radiate from her. The smooth fabric of her underwear touched his face and he smiled. Not only did he want to make this a night to remember, he also wanted to make sure it was about lovemaking. Sure he wanted sex with her, but he wanted to show her how much he loved her too. His emotions conflicted and he knew he needed to give her both.

Hot, crazy, passionate love making.

His hand ran back up her thigh and to her waist. He gripped it lightly and moved his mouth to her lower stomach. He kissed her softly and moved downward until his lips were on the fabric of her underwear. Without too much roughness, he let his teeth graze her and captured her underwear in his mouth. He tugged on them and she squirmed. Looping one finger under the fabric, he eased them off. Now she was completely bare.

Her breath was ragged. The little stunt he had just pulled had gone over well because he felt her hands smack both his cheeks and her lips crash on to his pulling him back down on top of her.

Taking no time to lose the rest of his clothes, he let their naked bodies touch feeling the arousal of skin-to-skin contact. Not much foreplay was needed between them. They were hot for each other within seconds. Damon enjoyed feeling her curves and the perfections of her body, and so did his mouth. Elena moaned showing him what she liked the most. He smiled at the sound and knew there were no longer any boundaries between them. They had full trust in each other.

Not being able to resist any longer as his erection ached against her leg, she spread them letting him carefully slip inside of her. He lifted her hips in the air as he waited a few moments for the both of them to soak in the new, wonderful feeling they were enduring. Once they were situated, he moved in slow, continuous motions. Tiny, high-pitched moans escaped from her and he caught himself grunting feeling her walls clench around him. God she felt good. Not one girl compared to her right now and no one ever would. When you found the right person, you just know and Damon knew he had found the girl for him.

The steady motions he was doing weren't cutting it for long though. Soon he found himself pumping in and out of her like he meant it and you could hear both of them gasping for air. Her hands found the back of his neck and she held on to him like this until they no longer could keep from bursting.

Trying his best to hold out for her to beautifully release together, he knew it was coming and his strong body began weak and out of control. He wished this feeling could last forever, but it was short and sweet and wonderful all wrapped up into one. As he knew she was close, he continued to move and Elena arched up pulling him down on her and she moaned loudly, followed by her panting breaths. So maybe their first time didn't take long, but it didn't matter because he knew there were many more times to come. Whether they were tonight or tomorrow or the day after that, he wanted to only do this with her.

Finally both finding air again, Damon rolled off of her and he they laid mindlessly looking up at the dark ceiling next to one another. They remained silent like this for a while before he felt the tickle of her hair on his arm and the warmth of her cheek on his chest. His arm went around her like it was so natural to do so. He smiled knowing she couldn't see it because for the first time in forever, he had the goofiest, love-struck smile on his face and it felt good.

Damon breathed in a sharp breath of air hard and quick. His eyes shot opened and he felt his body shake. It was like he awoke from an awful nightmare that smothered and paralyzed him. The last thing he remembered was being in the middle of nowhere looking into a pair of red glowing eyes. At the thought of his memory, he sprang up.

Elena. The deal had been made.

The pitch-black night was not a dream. He had really lived it. He had really met the devil face to face and shook his hand sealing a deal that was deadly. Damon could feel the panic mixed with excitement in his chest, but as he looked to his right, disappointment arrived.

The last thing he remembered was every thing going black. How he ended up back in his bed he didn't know, but as he became more awake and alert, he realized something wasn't right. Where was she?

A life for a life was the deal. He would get one year with her and then it would all come crashing down. Just the thought of being ripped away from her again made him contemplate finding the bottom of a bottle, but he could not afford to think like that. It was time to say goodbye for good to his demons. For the sake of him and Elena, he had to.

Shaking his dark thought, he shot up running his hand over her side of the bed. Empty and lonely all it was. Wasn't she supposed to be here? How did this work? He instantly regretted not asking more questions when he had the chance. How would they be reunited? Would she know what he had done? Would she be the same? And how the hell was he going to explain this revelation of Elena being alive to everyone? Anxiety constricted his chest just at the mind-boggling puzzle of questions. He had been most definitely prepared to see her again, but he wasn't prepared for all the repercussions that came attached.

Damon huffed knowing he was getting ahead of himself. One thing at time. This was how he had to approach it or he would go even madder than he already was. Trying to focus, he knew the first thing he needed to do was make sure the deal followed through.

His legs fell over the side of his bed and he felt his head spin. He squeezed his eyes shut finding his balance and stood once he felt able enough. It was almost as if he was waking from a drunken night and feeling the after effects a.k.a. a hangover. It was strange, but he ignored it. As he walked to the bathroom, he splashed water on his face and sipped some it as he cupped it in his hands. Looking up at his reflection in the mirror, he thought hard. If Elena wasn't here, where could she be? Maybe he had to find her. Maybe them being reunited wasn't as easy as it seemed. Quickly, he fled the bathroom and rushed out to the living room. He was ready to bolt out his door and run down the flights of stairs just to find her, but his search did not need to extend past the threshold of his apartment.

"Elena." He whispered.

In the large window overlooking the city, a silhouette of a beautiful woman stood. Her back was to him and he could see her shoulders shaking. He cautiously took two steps toward her.

This was no mirage. This was no dream. He blinked a few times to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him. The closer he got the more he trembled at the sight before him. This was real. She was no ghost. Elena was one hundred percent real.

Like a book his eyes studied her slender body, long dark brown hair cascading down her back, and her beautifully glowing skin in the light of the morning sun. It was like she was even more beautiful than the first time he saw her. Damon gulped and squeezed his eyes shut for a brief moment knowing all his prayers had been answered. His deal with Klaus had been fulfilled. The thought of thanking someone so dark and evil just to have the one thing he wanted the most made his stomach knot. This was wrong, yet it felt so right.

"Elena." Damon spoke louder, but still his voice was small.

The figure belonging to her was about to reveal the beautiful face he was dying to see. Her small frame turned like she was on a pedestal. Those big brown eyes he loved locked on him and were filled with relief, love, and joy, but also fear, uncertainty, and anger. No matter what may be going on in that beautiful mind of hers, he didn't care to know. The only thing he wanted from her was her warm embrace. That would confirm it all.

A metaphorical gust of wind pushed him toward her and his hands instantly clutched her soft cheeks. Her eyes searched him fast and wildly. It was like she appeared lost and confused. She was overwhelmed by the thought of where she was and whom she was with. Every bit of them trembled knowing how real and unreal this felt. As each emotion circulated in their tiny bubble, it was impossible to describe each one. For someone who never liked to wear his emotions on his sleeve, tears swelled in his eyes and proudly. When he was with her, he did not care.

"You came back to me." He whispered rubbing her cheek with one hand and running his fingers through her hair with the other.

A pool of tears formed in her eyes and she shook her head.

"It worked." Damon exhaled.

Her lips quivered as if she wanted to say something, but she closed her eyes and let synchronized tears fall from each of them instead. His shirt was bunched in her hands as she grabbed hold of him, her eyes reopened glazed with confliction. What was it? What was she holding back from him?

"Damon," Her voice finally cracked under the pressure. His hold on her tightened and his heart fluttered at the sound of her voice. It had been too long. Something just clicked hearing her same his name.

Whatever she was trying to say, he couldn't wait any longer. He planted his lips upon hers with great passion. Their bodies gravitated toward each other and her hands flatted against his stomach. Fireworks were igniting within him. His chest shook knowing he was kissing her just like he had so many times before. When she died, so many thoughts of what he would miss crossed his mind and broke his heart over and over again, but this; this was what he missed the most. It was something so intimate, something only he wanted to do with her and no one else.

After a breathless few seconds, he released her and her eyes were bigger than ever. The sides of her mouth crept into a smile, but fell instantly as she began to shake her head again and tears swelled in her eyes.

"You're here." Damon spoke. "You're home baby."

"Damon," she started again. This time he searched her face hoping to find what was being bottled up. Unspoken seconds crawled by before she opened her mouth again, and when she did he immediately felt his heart break. Elena took a step back and said, "What did you do?"
