Hello,
Here's a new chapter, it took a bit longer to write this. Mostly because I did not finish it on one day. This is the last chapter in the Skin deep part. I hope you will like. However this does not mean you will stop seeing Rumbelle and Belle. Both of this will be a heavy part of the story and I will try to feature Belle more than on the show. Plus I will not let moments between Rumbelle go on without you guys knowing. Everything important happens on the page. So if you haven't read it, you can pretty much be sure it didn't happen. This is not like once upon a time. I have a schedule of episodes I will be tackling. From now on I'll be putting some Snowing in each chapter, until their big moment comes. Which will come, I promise you. It just takes longer, you got more Rumbelle, before you got Snowing. For Archie/Amy shippers, there will always be them in the chapters. Mostly in the next part. Don't worry,
Enjoy,
TempeGeller.
Chapter 25: The Beauty and her beast PART 3
Amy moved her hands to her pockets and pulled out a hair clip. She had seen it on TV before. She had always wondered if such things would work in real life. As the door clicked, she pushed the door farther open.
"Where did you learn that?"
"Internet." They walked through the store, slowly Amy closed the door. She took a step farther in the store, there were flowers everywhere. She smelled them and she couldn't get the image of Moe French from her mind. He had send Belle to that asylum. He had agree to electroshock therapy with his daughter. She believed Regina would never do that to her, she had been evil, yet she would never harm her in that way. She noticed every light in the house was dimed. Slowly she reached for the light on her phone. Where would she be able to find the dress? As she moved passed the counter, she moved in the house.
"Amy, you know breaking and entering is not allowed by the law."
"We're just entering." She replied. "We didn't break the door, remember. We'll just lock it back on our way out. No one will even notice we were in here."
She moved through a small hallway and entered the living room. There she walked up the stairs, she assumed that the bedrooms would be upstairs. She assumed the dress would be in the bedroom that once belonged to Belle or Lacey. She hardly knew what name she needed to use. When she came on the first floor, she noticed three different doors. One belonged to Belle's room. As she opened up the first she noticed she entered a smile bathroom. The walls were coloured grey. She moved to the second door as she opened that, she noticed a whole wall filled with books. On the far left side there was a big dresser. There was a white bed pushed to the right side of the room. On the bed she noticed a blue with white dress. The one that she was looking for.
"Get it and let's get out!"
She pulled the dress in her arms, at that very moment Archie pulled her behind him. They ran of the stairs, out the store. At the exit she grabbed the hairclip and locked the door once again. Right then they started to run from the shop. Both of them felt an adrenaline in their bodies. They had done something that was very wrong. When they entered the library, she stared at him. There were no words to say. She place the dress on the table in the middle of the room. She stared at him, he looked at her full of love, she knew he would follow her everywhere. As they stared at her, a laugh escaped from their mouth. They fell down, hanging to the bookshelves. He took her hand in his. For a moment he kissed her on her lips. It was a romantic moment, he moved her hand to the back of her head.
"I love you." He replied. "I would do about everything for you."
"I'm not going to ask you to murder someone for me." She kissed him. "I am glad you did this with me, why do you love me, Archie? Why do you think I'm so great?"
"Because of who you are, Amy." He kissed her cheek. "Because of who you make me."
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle ran to the door as she heard a knock on it. When she opened it, she noticed Daniella. She was carrying a few books in her arms. She moved to the left as she invited Daniella inside the dark castle. She noticed that Daniella carefully stopped before the door, Daniella waited for her to open the door. As they walked inside, Belle turned to her once again.
"You can never be sure with people who can do magic." Daniella replied. "My mother booby-traps every room she leaves, it got me a heavy burn when I was five."
"Your mother does magic?" She replied. "What is she like?"
"Like a mother." Daniella replied. "I prefer not to talk about her. She's complicated. Too complicated for me ever to explain. I prefer not talk about my mother."
"okay."
She stared at Daniella's face, her body showed a certain fear. Almost like she knew more about Rumpelstiltskin than she led on. It was almost that she had directly met him, or maybe indirectly. She pulled Daniella along to her bedroom, after a week Rumpelstiltskin had moved her from the dungeons to a true bedroom, it was truly in a yellow colour. It was a big room, in the middle of it there was a big bed with yellow drapes. On both sides there were side tables and there was a small window seat, next to that she pushed a small table on which she placed books. Next to the window seat there was a big cabinet holding all her clothes. She pulled Daniella on the bed.
"Why is it you're so…" She stared at her. "Different."
"I know your master from reputation." Daniella spoke. "I met him once very briefly, he is a complicated man I assume. I can't seem understand how much pain he's in."
"He's lost his son." She spoke. "It must have been so difficult for him. I couldn't bare losing a child. It has to be the worst thing that can happen to you."
"Did he die?"
"I don't know, he said he was gone." She explained. "I don't know what he meant with the term gone, I assume it can mean so much things."
"I've lost my sister." Daniella replied. "She didn't die, she ran away when our father died. He was murdered. They accused her and she couldn't stay."
"I'm sorry about that." She placed her hand on Daniella's. "I understand what it's like. I lost my mother a few months ago. Losing a parent is truly horrible."
"Let's not talk about something that's such a downer." Daniella placed her hand on hers. "Let's talk about Harry Potter."
"Fred dies." Her eyes started to tear up. "Snape dies, Remus and Tonks die, Hedwig dies. Dobby dies. It's just so sad, that final book. Wow, what a ride. Plus Dumbledore dies, poor Snape. Why would anyone ask that?"
"To convince the dark lord Severus was truly evil."
She nodded her head for a moment, she understood what Daniella said. Belle thought about it, she thought Rumple was kind of like Snape, she never understood why Lily didn't fall for Snape. She would have taken Snape over James any day. She couldn't understand why Lily would choose a pretty boy, over someone she had been friends with for so long.
"Why did Lily not pick Snape?"
"Because he was too involved with the dark arts." Daniella explained. "I think his dark side scared her and who wouldn't. Darkness like that is poison, it keeps negative emotions alive. Emotions that only feed more in to the darkness and you can't forget that Snape wouldn't have protected anyone else, he did what he did because it was about Lily."
"But if Lily truly loved him, she could have kept him good."
"Is this about Snape?" Daniella turned to her. "Or is it about Rumpelstiltskin? Belle, do you love him?"
"I sometimes think I do…" She stares at him. "He's such a kind man, so wonderful and he's complicated. He saved me more than once. He's…"
"And are you sure that he…" Daniella touched her hand. "That he isn't too involved in the dark arts. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
In the distance she could hear a door opening up. In the distance she could hear a footstep walking up the stairs, coming in their direction. Daniella's eyes went open wider, the fear was seen on Daniella's face. Belle stared to the door, she hoped he wouldn't come to her room. She couldn't hide Daniella anywhere, so she simple told her to stay on the bed. Minutes went by and suddenly the door opened up. Rumplestiltskin was standing in the door.
"Belle…" He stared at Daniella. "So this is your friend? Has she send you?"
"Who has send her?" She got up. "Daniella is my friend."
"Are you send here to know my weaknesses?" He stepped to her.
"I'm here for Belle." Daniella stood up. "The ties with my mother have been undone. I'm not on her side, I don't want to destroy you either. I'm here only for Belle."
"Go!" He pointed to the door. "I don't want anyone of your family in my castle!"
Mary Margaret stared at Belle, who seemed distracted. A smile appeared on her face and Belle seemed to return it. Ashley was sitting right next to them. It seemed that Ruby still had not returned from make her move on the guys.
"I don't have that ability to flirt." Belle admitted. "Look at how natural it comes to Ruby."
"That sort of stuff doesn't work on Gold." Mary Margaret replied. "At least that's what I think, I think he's more in to a good book and a glass of whisky."
"Oh I don't think we know how to…" Ashley opened her eyes wide. "Get mister Gold between the sheets."
It became quiet for a moment again. Belle almost wanted to pull a book from her bag, but she fought that move. She was sure that it was not something she needed to do in this moment. She just stared at Mary Margaret. For a moment she thought about the memories she needed. She thought she would rather be getting those memories back, than be here with these people. She found it strange when Amy wasn't there. Almost like she didn't belong. She hardly knew Mary Margaret and she knew Ashley just a little.
"Girl's night is not really working out for you."
"I thought it would make me feel better. But the truth is, I need a 'be with my guy night'. But he's never around, and I'm at home with the baby all day. I mean, what's the point of being together if we're not together?"
" I get it. Loving someone you can't be with – it's a terrible, terrible burden."
"Tell me a about it." Belle replied.
"You know, this was a bad idea. I should… I should go home."
At that moment the door to the bar opened up. Sean walked in with one red rose. Ashley smiled for a moment, she couldn't believe he was here. She had not expected him. Tonight he needed to work and she dropped of the baby with granny. As he entered, Belle stared at him. She guessed this was Sean, since Ashley had a big grin on her face. She stared at them. She guessed there was a lovely moment enveloping before her eyes. It was like seeing a movie happen.
"Ashley?"
"Sean?"
"Hey."
"I thought you were working tonight?" She stared at him, slowly he stepped closer to her. He put his hand on her shoulder. For a moment he smiled at her.
"I am, it's my break." He replied. "And I had to see you and ask you something."
He handed her the flower and slowly moved down on one knee. The next moment he pulled out a ring. She couldn't believe the scene that was enfolding before her. He was proposing to her. He was asking her to be his wife. There was lot going on in her mind. She thought about saying yes, she thought about how her life was going change if she said yes. One thing that didn't come in her mind, was to say no. There was no way she was going to do so. That was something she never would do. She loved Sean and she would do so forever. He was the man she was supposed to be with. He was her true love.
"Will you marry me? I only have a twenty minute break, so, um, anytime now."
"Yes." She replied. They kissed for a short moment, Ashley felt the love going through her body. She couldn't believe she was getting married, her stepsisters always told her that she would never get married. And now she was doing something they were not. Her two stepsisters didn't even have soothers. She smiled to herself.
" My truck's outside if you want to take a ride before I head back to work. It's not much of a date."
"It's the best date."
" Then, your carriage awaits."
Belle stared to the two as they left. Then her eyes went to Mary Margaret. For a moment they stared at each other.
"I'll drop you off at the library." They stood up, they grabbed their jacket and bags and walked towards the exit.
"Thank you, Mary Margaret." She replied
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle thought about Rumple had reacted to Daniella. Almost like the young girl would bring secrets to someone he hated. She had never known in what way Daniella knew her master. The girl had never said any bad word on her master. Like her Daniella knew there was someone behind the monster. Daniella did worry about her, Daniella didn't want her to be hurt. She thought about the ways Rumple could hurt her, but she didn't believe he would ever hurt her. There was no chance, the man she knew was a good man. A man that had been seen in the wrong way by everyone. Maybe that was because the things he did, the deals he made. He always got what he wanted. There was never a single moment Rumpelstiltskin didn't get his way. She swept the floors. She liked to be alone in the house, she liked to clean everything without his eyes on her. Things went faster when he wasn't there. She knew that he had feelings for her, but what these feelings were, she hardly knew. She didn't know if he loved her in the way she loved him.
"Belle…" He entered the room. "The house look clean, you're doing a great jump, dearie."
"Thank you, Rumple."
"So who do you identify with in Harry Potter?" He stared at her.
"Hermione I guess." Belle replied. "She is both brave and smart. There are a lot of things that we have in common. I also kind of identify with Lily. I guess I identify a bit more with Lily than I do with Hermione. I mean both of us are smart and both of us…"
"Are you comparing me with Snape?" He laughed. "Is my hear that greasy, dearie?"
"It's not that Rumple." She replied. "It's just that you have a lot in common with him, both of you are good in potions. Both of you are great in using spells. And both of you have lost so much…"
"So are you saying that…" He paused. "I…"
"I…" She paused. "Tell me about your son."
"I'll tell you what – I'll make you a deal. Go to town and fetch me some straw." He answered "When you return, I'll share my tale."
She moved her hand towards him. She was expecting him to put the bracelet on her arm. Yet he didn't do it. She smiled for a moment.
"Why aren't you putting the bracelet on?" She stared at him. "You trust me to come back?"
"Oh, no, I expect I'll never see you again."
That morning, he told her to follow him. She did with a slow footstep. Where would he bring her? It was clear that it was a new place of the castle, at least this was a place she was never allowed. She stepped on. When they entered the room, she was welcomed by a large with light filled room. There were thousands of books. Too much for her to ever read. She looked around her.
"What is this Rumple?" She stared to him.
"It's a present." He replied. A smile appeared on her face as she looked at the books around her. She wanted to run to the first book she saw and read it. Yet she could stop herself.
"Why?"
"Because you love books." He smiled. "I better see no dust on this books."
Mister Gold stared to the road in front of him. He was driving the van he had gotten from Moe French. He noticed Emma passing him by, as he passed her by he could hear crying in the back. As he looked back, he could see Moe French tied up in the back. He had kidnapped him from the shop, he had dragged him in the van and taken him to his cabin in the woods. There was a piece of duct tape in front of his mouth. Moe struggled to escape his presence. Yet Moe only noticed how tight he was tied up. Mister Gold turned on a small road in the woods. After a few moments they came to the small cabin in the woods he rented. It was only a small wooden house, it contained a few rooms. It was filled with furniture that didn't fit in his house anymore.
As the van came to a stop. He stepped out of the car. He opened the backdoor of the van. He dragged Moe from it, to the inside of the cabin. There he stared at Moe. There was an anger in his eyes. An anger that was meant for Moe French. One that he could never get rid of. He thought about the pain that Belle had gone through. Pain that was all Moe's fault. He should have not locked her away. He should have treated as a daughter. HE should never have signed those papers.
"You see, here's the thing. " He levitated his cane. "I don't normally get away.
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle had found someone else in the library, she was surprised as she really needed to talk to Daniella about the woman Rumple meant. Yet when she arrived in the library, she noticed another girl there. When she asked what happened to her, the girl simple answered: 'she left.' There was nothing more that she could know about Daniella. She wanted to know what happened to her friend, yet there was nothing that. She had decided only to take one book, the new girl didn't give the recommendations that Daniella did. There was something about this new girl that she didn't like. She wanted to see Daniella again. She wanted to see her friend. Yet that visit at the dark castle might have been the last time she would ever see her friend. They could have become better friends. They could have shared everything that was going through their minds, yet now she remained all by herself.
On the way home she thought about the woman that Rumple had mentioned. It was someone with a lot of power, someone who was a threat to him. She was unsure that this woman was worse than Rumple. Maybe the woman was just like him, misunderstood, power hunger. When she stared up at the sky, she noticed a carriage with a driver passing by. She slowly moved more to the side of the road. She stared to the carriage as it passed her by. It was a combination of white and black. It was in a perfect balance. She knew the person inside had to be rich, maybe even a king or queen. She knew all that by just staring at the carriage. No commoner could pay for. Even her family wouldn't pay for that fancy carriage. She dreamed about driving in such a beautiful vehicle. She got caught up in a dream world as the carriage slowed down and stopped. The door opened up and a woman with black hair and a black dress stepped out.
"Did my carriage splash you?"
"Oh no, I'm fine." She replied.
"You know I'm tired of riding." The woman got out of the carriage and stepped next to her. "Let me stretch my legs and walk with you for a spell."
"You carry very little."
"I don't want to be slowed down." She replied.
"So you're running from someone?" the woman asked. "The question is, master or lover?"
She didn't react. She didn't know how to explain her relationship with Rumpelstiltskin. She was sure that he was more to her that a master. And he was not truly a lover. She actually didn't know that answer to the question.
"Master and lover…" A grin appeared on the woman's face.
"I might take a rest." She reacted. She didn't want to deal with more questions the woman had to offer. She wanted to get away from the questions about Rumple. There were no questions that could do any good to her in this situation. She was not ready to deal with her feelings. "You go on ahead."
"I'm Dana. I was here to see my daughter. I have time." The woman laughed. "So if I'm right you love your employer, but you're leaving him."
"I might love him. I mean I could except…" She paused. "Something evil has taken root in him."
": Sounds like a curse to me. And all curses can be broken. A kiss born of true love would do it. Oh, child, no. I would never suggest a young woman to kiss a man who held her captive. What kind of message is that?"
"Right."
"Besides, if he loves you, he would've let you go." The woman smiled. "And if he doesn't love you, well then the kiss won't even work."
"But he did let me go." Her eyes opened wider. Could this kiss bring the human Rumple back? Could she have a normal man? Could she get rid of the evil inside of him? Could she keep the man she loved inside?
"Yes, but no kiss happened."
"And a kiss, a kiss is enough?" She stared to the woman. "He'd be a man again?"
"An ordinary man. True love's kiss will break any curse."
The woman stepped back in the carriage after whishing her luck. She was sure, she would return to Rumple and try the true love's kiss. If it worked, she would have a normal man to love. They would be very happy. They would get everything they ever wanted. She thought about the future that could come to them. She thought in that moment about having children with him. She thought about a daughter they could have. She could call her after her mother or something that he wanted. She thought about everything she could have. The life seemed beautiful in her mind. They could travel the world together, see everything there was to see. When they came back they could have a child. That would be the perfect plan. Everything about that plan started with a simple kiss.
She almost ran over the road, she wanted to back very soon. She couldn't wait to kiss him. She thought how she would do it. She would surprise him with it, she would throw her arms around his neck and she would push her lips to his. It was that simple. She stared to the dark castle, she slowly entered the house and hear a running footstep. When she entered the dining room, she noticed that Rumple sat down behind the wheel. She knew he had been watching her return.
"Oh, you're back already. Good… Good thing. I'm, uh… I'm nearly out of straw" He tried to hide his smile on his face.
"Oh come on!" She reacted. "You're happy that I'm back."
"I'm not unhappy."
"And you promised me a story." She took the rope from him and placed it on the spinning wheel. She sat down on the part of the spinning wheel. Rumple stared at her in confusion. "Tell me about your son."
"I lost him, there's nothing more to tell, really." He answered. "Do you remember that I heard your idea about reading already?"
Softly she nodded her head.
"Bae said the same thing about reading, he said it was his opportunity to fill his head with stories. He wanted to fill his head with adventures he would never have." He replied. "He also needed a better father too. It's been so long since I…"
"And since then, you've loved no one." She said. "And no one has loved you."
"Why did you come back?"
She thought about the perfect life she had in her head. She thought about the journeys they would make. She thought about the feeling as they talked to each other. Everything that came rushing in her was the reason she returned. The reason she returned was simple, she loved him. She wanted to build a life with him. She wanted everything from him.
"I wasn't going to…" She replied. "Then something changed my mind."
At that moment she stared to his eyes, all her ideas about how she was going to kiss him had left her mind. She had no idea when was a good moment. She didn't know if this was it, she was close enough to touch him. She was close enough to hear his breath. She was close enough to touch him. So first she slowly touched his hand. She stared in his eyes and noticed his eyes stared back in an intense way. The whole situation was very intense. And then it happened. She slowly gave him a light kiss. It was short and as she pulled back, she noticed his skin started to look like that of a human. She wanted to smile. Her dream could begin. Everything could begin. They were going to be happy.
"What's happening?"
"Kiss me again." She pulled him closer. "It's working."
"What is?" He slightly pulled away from her.
"Any curse can be broken." She noticed that he slowly changed back to his dark self. She pulled him closer, but he resisted. He stood up and stared at her in anger. There was no moment that she thought it would go like this. All her theories were hope of happiness. All her theories had babies in it. All her theories had traveling the world together. Not one theory told her this would end bad for her.
"Who told you that?" He screamed. "Who knows this?"
"I don't know, she…" Belle paused. "She…"
"She?"
All her happy thoughts disappeared. There was not going to be a happy ending after all. She only saw hell around him. She felt that everything would be bad. What was the thing that made him angry? Or was he scared? He ran towards the mirror and threw the cover off it.
"You evil soul! This was you! You turned her against me! You think you can make me weak? You think you can defeat me? You send your daughter after me."
"Who are you talking to?" She stared to be scared. She had never feared him before, yet now she did.
"The queen, your friend's mother." He screamed. "Your mother's friend, the queen."
"Daniella's mother?" She was confused. "The queen, I don't know the queen"
"I knew this was a trick." He replied. "I knew you could never care for me. Oh yeah, you're working for her. Or is this all you? Is this you being a hero and killing the beast…"
"I would never try to hurt you!" She replied with tears in her eyes. "It was working."
"Shut up!" He yelled.
"That means it's true love!"
"Shut the hell up!"
"Why won't you believe me?"
"Because no one, no one could ever love me!"
He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the route she had not taken in weeks. He pulled her to the dungeon that had been her room in the very first week. She had tears in her eyes, she tried to beg him to help him. She was trying everything. She was trying to tell him how much he love her. Yet no words got to him. There was nothing that would ever get through to him. He seemed like a lost cause. HE threw her and closed the door. And as darkness came to her, she thought about the lives she just lost.
Mister Gold stared at the man in front of him, it was mister Moe French. A men he hated more than life itself. He couldn't believe what the man had done to Belle. There were things you wouldn't do to your daughter and admitting them to asylum was one of them. He never believed that Belle could be crazy, she had always been gracefully saint. Even when he had been crazy at the time. He knew that she was a dreamer. That was what he loved about her. He couldn't get his mind of her and he wanted to punish the very man that had caused her so much pain. Slowly he sat down on the chair in front of Moe.
"Let me explain, okay." Moe stared to him in pure fear. There was no need to listen in mister Gold's part. There was no understanding and if the man wanted understanding Moe shouldn't get it from him. He pushed his cane to Moe's neck, cutting of the air. A sick smile appeared on his face as he saw his enemy in pain. Finally Moe would feel the pain Belle had. He also couldn't believe that the man had stolen the cup Belle had chipped. It was his most prized possession
"Oh. Well, that is…fascinating. Truly fascinating. I'm going to let you breathe in a second, and you're going to say two sentences. The first, is going to tell me where it is. The second, is going to tell me who told you to take it. Do you understand the rules? Good. Let's begin."
He pulled his came away and colour returned to the man's cheeks. Moe stared at him in anger.
"I needed that van!" He screamed.
"Now, you see, that is not a good first sentence."
He took his cane in his right hand and punched it to the man's shoulder. There he was sure it wouldn't cause to much damage. He knew he could beat Moe more times and he would be sure Moe would be in a lot pain.
"Come on, Gold!" His voice was more silent. "Listen!"
"Tell me where it is!"
His cane swung down once more, hitting him once again in the shoulder. There was a cry in pain from the man.
"Ow! Stop!" He screamed.
"Tell me where it is!" Once more his cane hit the old man's skin. There was another cry of pain, but it didn't get to mister Gold. He needed to find out where his cup was.
"It wasn't my fault!" He replied. "She was crazy, Lacey was crazy."
"wasn't your fault?" He screamed . "You locked her up, you signed papers allowing them to electrocute her. You let them sedate her. You locked her up!"
With that his cane went down again. This time he hit the man in the stomach, there was a scream of pain. Yet he couldn't believe that Moe was in more pain then Belle had been. He couldn't think about the love of his life in pain. Yet that was the very thing she had been trough. The man screamed as he hit the cane to his head. Never in 28 years had he done this to someone. Never had he seen the need, Mister Gold was unlike Rumpelstiltskin. He chose other ways to torture people. Yet his old self had gotten to him. His old self that loved to use violence to get information.
"You did that to her! Your own daughter!" He screamed. "She trusted you, you are her father. It's not my fault it is yours! Yours!"
ENCHANTED FOREST
Rumpelstiltskin had felt a lot in the last years. It was the first time that he felt love again and he feared it. He feared what it would do to him and what it would do to other people. The only other person that he ever loved had been taken from him. He knew the pain of loss all too well. Since that moment he had sworn never to fall in love again. Yet it happened, he had fallen in love with Belle. And by some strange reason it seemed that she seemed to have feelings for him as well. The kiss had surprised him; it was a nice flicker of emotion. Yet right after that a horrible truth struck to him. If he ever lost his power, if he ever became human, he would lose Belle like he had lost Beafire and it brought a fear to him that no one could understand. That fear was changed in anger and pain. The queen told Belle to kiss him. She told him that their love would break the curse; the queen would know that he would lose his powers and if he lost them, she would come after Belle right away. There was no way Regina would not hurt the ones he loved.
As the pain entered his body, he only wanted to beat up things. He grabbed the cane and started beating the glass window of the cabinet. First he did it without tears, but after a few seconds they came to him.
"No can love me!" He screamed to himself. Reminding him that it couldn't be love with Belle. Yet he truly knew that it had been. What did he need to do? How did he need to cope?
After the glass of the cabinet was broken, he took the tea cups and slammed them to the ground. They broke in a thousand pieces. He threw all of them, until he held the chipped one. He stared at it, this was the one that Belle had broken and he couldn't throw it. He sank to his knees crying.
His cane went up and down, beating Moe's skin. The screams slipped passed him, like they didn't exist in the first place. He kept screaming that it was his fault, he kept repeating his anger about Belle. He didn't even ask about the cup anymore. Did had become completely about punching a man that was not his to punish. As he pulled his cane back, he felt a hand stopping him.
"Stop!" It was the town deputy sheriff Emma Swan. She pulled him outside the cottage, right than she pulled her phone from her pocket calling an ambulance. He wanted to say that the man wouldn't need it, yet he didn't let himself. It took 10 minutes of silence for the ambulance to get there. It took another 10 to take Moe French away. He stared to Emma Swan. He had never wanted someone to be there, especially the sheriff. He hoped that he could have gotten away it.
"So, I heard you managed not to break anything he need." She said. "You're lucky mister Gold."
"You got a funny definition of luck." He didn't even look at her. There was no need to see the look on someone else's face about what he had done. He knew what he had done, yet he didn't want to see reactions.
"You have a funny definition of justice." She stared at him. "What did he really do?"
"He stole."
"That reaction was about more than taking a few trinkets. You said something about how he hurt her – what happened to 'her'? Who was that? What did he do? If someone needs help, maybe I can help."
" No. I'm sorry, Sheriff. I think you heard that wrong." He stared at her. "You are not the one in town to help anyone."
"You really don't want to cooperate?"
"Look, we're done here."
"Actually, we're not. You're under arrest."
ENCHANTED FOREST
There were many things that Belle was thinking about, none of them were happy memories. None of it were happy pictures of the future. They had all disappeared as Rumpelstiltskin yelled at her. She lay at the bed, waiting for anything to happen. She waited for him to return and yell at her. She knew that any how he loved her. Yet that didn't make any difference. She thought he had lost him anyway. There was no hope for a happy future, she had lost all that. Everything lost in a moment of anger. She stared at the empty walls, she tried to fill them with memories. Was this what Lily felt like when Snape called her a mudblood? Had she been pushed away from the man she was supposed to love? How was she going to forget it was true love? The kiss had proved that to her. She didn't want to let him go, but it felt that she couldn't seem to do anything else. A door opened up and she saw him. Rumpelstiltskin. He was more calm then he had been before. Yet there was a look on his face that she didn't like. A look of hurt, she wanted to hug him. She wanted to make him feel better, yet a part of her didn't dare to do that.
"So what are you going to do to me?" She asked.
"Go." He pointed to the door.
"Go?"
"I don't want you anymore dearie."
She stepped from the cell, there was a part of her that hated herself for walking away from him. Yet that was the very thing he asked. She would never do anything he didn't want her to do. She loved him and if he wanted her to leave, she would. In her mind she thought about what could have been. She thought about the children they could have had. She thought about the house they could have built. She thought about the travels they could have been on. With a part of love in her mind she turned around.
"You were freeing yourself!" She said. "You could've had happiness if you just believed someone could love you. But you couldn't take the chance."
"That's a lie."
"You're a coward, Rumpelstiltskin." She said. "And no matter how thick you make your skin, that doesn't change."
There was a direct reaction in his face, yet her words didn't seem to find direct words in reaction. He stared at her in pain, she knew for sure that she saw that in his face. She knew him better then he knew himself. He could tell that he didn't love her, she didn't believe him.
"I'm not a coward, dearie." He replied. "IT's quite simple, really. My power means more to me than you."
"No, it doesn't." She stepped closer. "You just don't think I can love you. Now you've made your choice and you're going to regret it forever. And you'll have an empty heart and a chipped cup."
With those words she left his life and his castle. She thought back about the future they could have had, but didn't let it be more than a distant memory. She had lost it and she knew she needed to see that.
When Belle entered the library, she found Archie and Amy there. They were both working on putting the books in a catalogue. Belle smiled at them.
"You think this is a date?" She asked. "You have an interest productive idea of dating."
"Something came up." Amy replied. "We have something for you."
She stepped on, the first thing she noticed was a dress. She seemed to recognize it right away. She noticed that more memories of her life came rushing back. Almost like there was some spell on the dress. She stepped closer and she pulled the dress in her arms. She wore this in the dark castle, Rumple had made it for her. She had good memories in that dress. She also seemed to have bad memories. She remembered the moment when he send her away. The moment when he pretended he didn't love her. The moment she had started an adventure. She was sure she was trying to get back to Rumpelstiltskin.
"The Evil Queen locked me up." She stared at Amy. "And you, you released me."
"me?" Amy stared at her. "I did that?"
"Yes." Belle smiled. "I need to find him. I need to find Rumpelstiltskin."
He stared at Emma eating a sandwich, he couldn't believe she put him in jail. There was no reason he should be in jail, he had only given an appropriate punishment. Yet Emma didn't seem to agree with him. She told him that the violence he used to the man was no fair. He wanted to say something to her, but he couldn't. The only thoughts he had went to Belle. The woman he loved and couldn't see. He knew she was somewhere in the town, yet he didn't know what Amy told to her. It could be that Amy told her lies. Amy was after all Regina's daughter and he never knew who the young girl was loyal to. He wanted to see Belle so badly.
"Pastrami, you want half." Emma said. "You know, I still owe you the favour. Nice, fatty patrami. Delicious way to clear the books."
"Well, I don't need a reminder that you owe me a favour. And when the day comes that I make my request, it'll be for more than half a sandwich."
At this moment Regina and Henry entered the room. Henry walked over to Emma and gave her a hug. Regina smiled at her for a moment, but Emma noticed that it didn't seem a spontaneous movement.
"Miss Swan, you have thirty minutes with Henry. Take him out buy him ice cream."
"You want me to leave you alone with a prisoner?"
"Twenty nine minutes."
"Bring me back a cone." A smile appeared on mister Gold's face.
Emma placed her arm around Henry and pushed him outside. Mister Gold stared at Regina, there was something she wanted. Something she needed. He knew that there would be no way that he could keep information from the mayor from the town. He stared at her, there was a curious feeling inside him, what did she want from him? Why did she want to be left alone with him.
"Well, you really wanted that little chat, didn't you?"
"Apparently this is the only way I could do it." She gave him a mean smile.
"Please sit."
Regina walked over to a small bench next to the cell. She sat down, she put her hands on her lap. She thought of how she was going to say what she needed to say. She thought about Belle, but it was clear that she hadn't come to find him. She was glad for that, there was still time to bring her back to asylum.
"Now, when two people both want something the other has, a deal can be struck." She nodded her head. There was a smile on her face. "So you did put him to it, then?"
"I merely suggested that strong men take what they need." She replied.
"Oh yeah and you told him just exactly what to take, didn't you?"
"We used to know each other so well, mister Gold. Has it really come down to this?"
"It seems that it has, yeah. But you know what I want, what is it you want?"
There was a moment of silence and once again a smile appeared on Regina's smile. Mister Gold couldn't believe he needed something the mayor had. He didn't want to make himself appear so weak.
"I want you to answer one question. And answer it simply, what's your name."
"It's mister Gold." He replied.
"Your real name."
"Every moment I've spent on this earth, that's been my name."
"What about moments we spent elsewhere."
"What are you asking about?"
"I think you know. I you want me to return what's yours, tell me your name."
What should he do? Should he be honest? She had the cup, he needed that cup. It was the only thing he had of Belle, until she came to him. He wouldn't look her up himself, he didn't want to make her scared. He needed to say his true name. With a simple reaction he said: "Rumpelstiltskin."
Regina pulled a small cup from her bag and placed it in his hand.
" Thank you… Your Majesty. So. Now that we're being honest with each other, let's remember how things used to be, shall we? And don't let these bars fool you, dear. I'm the one with the power around here. I'm going to be out of here in no time, and nothing between us will change."
" We shall see."
ENCHANTED FOREST
Rumpelstiltskin was spinning, like he always did. The pain in his heart hadn't gone away, just like Belle had told him. He was still left with a broken heart that would last for years to come. He didn't know what to do, he was a man that liked to bath in guilt. That's what he did. He was not glad he had not send her away, yet he needed to do it. If he had let her stay, she would have been in danger. She would have taken away his powers and without powers they were in a big danger. He couldn't risk that. Without him, she would be safe from any dangers. She would be happy. She could find the adventures she wanted, she could read the books she wanted. She could be friends with Daniella without being scared to give away anything about him.
"Flimsy locks." Regina entered the room. "I have to a deal to discuss. A certain mermaid."
"I'm not dealing today." He replied. He had to admit he wanted to stop making deals, yet he knew for sure he couldn't do that. He just knew he wouldn't make any today. Today he would spent in pain, he would think about Belle. That was all he would be doing.
"Are you angry with me? What is it this time?"
"Your little deception failed. You'll never be more powerful than me. You can keep trying deari, but you're never going to beat me."
"Is it about that girl I met on the road?" Regina smiled. "Hm, what was her name? Marge? Verna?"
"Belle…"
Saying the name alone brought him pain, yet he couldn't cry in the presence of the queen. It would show weakness to someone he didn't need to show weakness to.
"Right, well, you can rest assured I had nothing to do with that tragedy."
He stopped the spinning and stepped to the queen. What happened to Belle? He hoped that she was okay. Maybe she needed to come back to him. Maybe there was a way they could be together again.
"What tragedy?"
"You don't know? Well, after she got home, her fiancé had gone missing. And after her stay here – her association with you – no one would want her, of course. Her father shunned her, cut her off, shut her out."
"So she needs a home?"
"He was cruel to her. He locked her in a tower and sent in clerics to cleanse her soul with scourges and flaying. After a while, she threw herself off the tower. She died."
"You're lying." There was a pain that started right away. It was like he was dying himself. Images of Belle came before him. He couldn't believe that she had been dead. There was no way she could be gone. She had to be lying, yet the queen had never told him a lie before.
": Am I?"
"We're done."
" Fine – I have other calls to make. The place is looking dusty, Rumple. You should get a new girl."
The queen stepped from the room, he had pain in his heart. He thought about the young he had loved. There was nothing he could do. She was dead and he would never see her again. He needed to see her, slowly he picked the cup and took the goblet from the pedestal. He place the small cup on it. Right now this was his most precious item.
Belle had found out he was in the sheriff's station, she had heard that he had beat up her father. A part of her was glad, the man had not believed her when she told him about another land. The man that needed to believe her in the first place was her father and he had not. He also never visited her. He had left her there, like she meant nothing to him. She was sure she meant more to Rumple than she did to her father. She didn't know if she needed to be mad at Rumple, Moe was still her father. There was a strange feeling inside her, there were all kind of different things going through her. She needed to tell Rumple that he could never do it again. She knew her father would be okay, he had always healed from things. She didn't want to love a man that thought she killed her mother. She didn't want to love a man that told she was violent, yet she never showed any signs of violence.
She stepped towards the sheriff station, when she entered she found no one but Rumple. He was laying on the small bed. She stood there for just a moment, just observing her.
"There's nothing left to say, madam Mayor."
"I think there's more we should talk about." She replied. "There is in fact a lot we should talk about."
He stared to the door to find Belle standing there, almost like she had been standing there for years. He felt something that he had not felt for years. He was actually happy to see her. There was something between them that after all this years had not changed. He loved her and he would always love her. It was a truth universally acknowledged that they were meant to be together. He stared at her. Would she be mad about what he did to her father?
"I don't know how to feel about what you did to my father…" She took a step closer. "He kind of had it coming."
"I didn't do it to harm you." He replied. "I did it to punish him."
"Well, it's not your job to defend my honour." She replied. "Let me do that, I'm perfectly find at doing this."
"So Daniella didn't stop you to see me…."
"She never would, Rumple."
"I love you." She stepped closer to the bars.
"And I love you too." She stepped so close, and slowly they kissed each other. It was the moment they came together after all this years. There was something between them that no one could understand. She was glad to finally have him back. And years and years they were apart didn't matter anymore. Their story had come to a reunion. A reunion that both of them felt. A reunion that no one would ever understand.
Amy heard a knock on the door, she stared at Archie for a moment. She thought it might have bene Belle that returned, yet she would never knock the door. That was simple not her style. So they stood up, walked towards the door. As they opened the door up, they saw no one. It seemed like the person who had knocked, had ran away fast. Maybe it was a child that was pulling a prank with them. That wasn't the case when she looked down. There was a big box in front of the door, it had a deep brown colour. It was obvious something that was just dropped off, it made Amy believe it wasn't a child. This was a grown adult who had dropped of this package. She picked it up, carrying it inside. There they opened it up. Inside she found a dress she had lost a long time ago. About a year ago, someone had broken in their house and stolen things from her room. It was believed that it would be a regular thief. Yet right now it seemed it was more than that. Beside the note she found a note.
'I see you'. She dropped the box in panic.
"Amy…" Archie stared at the note. "Who's this from?"
"I have no idea."
