Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I don't own Harry Potter. Ohhhh good old J.K.! Ahaha yeah, don't work Doctor Who either. That reference was necessary though haha
Thank you to all my reviews and your supermegafoxyawesomehot comments xxx you're all wonderful! You're the best, most inspiring people ever.
I just realized that this story is a few days from being a year old. Wow. I read my first chapter and cringe. Wow, so much can change in a year. And I love everyone one of you for reading. It's been amazing. It's like a one year anniversary – let's celebrate!
annieca – yeah, I basically tried to make Logan the opposite of Sirius – more of a gentleman, kinder, and calmer, who wouldn't violate Hermione's space by flirting so much, and yeah… Thanks! ^.^
Tony'sWitch – YES! It so does! I imagined him kind of like a mix of Tony Stark and Ned Stark from Game of Thrones and—woah. What? They're both Starks. *mind blown*. That's creepy.
So this chapter was originally a part of a megachapter, but I divided it into two parts, because it was wayyy too long. Summer school is finally over so I can write a big chunk, so I'll try to update as frequently as possible before I leave.
Now, on with it!

Chapter 26
"When will it be ready?" Jessica Lowsley whined, slumping down her soft bed in the Ravenclaw tower, "Can you please hurry up?" She huffed exasperatedly, taking out a nail file, and absentmindedly regarding her nails.
"I said don't touch your nails, Jess!" Sam snapped from the other side of the room, running a brush through her already sleek and naturally straight hair, which didn't have to go through any tangles or cosmetic problems. "I've already gotten them perfectly for you. Plus, we all know that Cassie isn't the best at potions!"
"Shut up, will you?" Cassie McKiddie yapped from her working table, where she was studiously leaning over a bubbling potion. "It's not my fault Slughorn hates me so much – he gives me 'T's all the time for my assignments."
Jessica giggled, "Maybe it's because you don't ever do the, and just sit gawking at Black?"
"You shut up too, Jessica. No one asked your opinion." The ignorant blonde girl rolled her eyes, as she sprinkled some lavender into the potion, which suddenly turned a shade of orange and started violently bubbling. "None of you want to do it, and if you want this plan to work, I'm the one who's gonna do the rest, because I want this to work." She shrieked, throwing glare more lethal than daggers.
The three girls glowered at each other, and then proceeded with their own activities. It was only two more hours before the stupid Fall Ball, where they were going to put on a show, and steal the crowd away with their intelligent Ravenclaw-like manoeuvre.
"Well, sorry." Jessica mumbled from her bed, feeling her black hair, which fell in tiny tendrils down her back. She jumped up and strolled towards the closet, taking off her camisole and slipping out of her booty shorts. After surveying the closet and deciding to strut around a bit, she threw her discarded clothes onto her bed and walked over between her two friends with nothing but her bra and knickers on.
"Ooh, work that bod, Jess." Sam cat called, exiting the bathroom, and sinking down onto her bed, which was seeded with luxurious pillows. She stretched out and closed her eyes. "You have such a perfect bod, why can't I have one like that?"
"Because you eat so many carbs!" Cassie called from the other side of the room, and sighed pathetically. "So many carbs. Did you really need to eat that croissant this morning, Sam? Like really? It makes you really fat. That's why you couldn't fit into that dress I told you about."
"But I only gained five pounds over the last two months!" Sam stomped around, once again running her hands through her hair and flipping it back.
She was tall for her age, and simply had an hourglass figure, which was very attractive, but her two friends were too jealous to admit that she looked very nice. Sam had perfectly straight medium length dark brown hair, and mysterious sexy amber eyes, which she defined with her daily dose of eyeliner and mascara.
Jessica Lowsley had black curly hair, and hazel eyes. She looked and acted like a mix of Romilda Vane and Cho Chang. It seemed like she was one of the most unintelligent students in Hogwarts combined, so the real mystery was 'why is Jessica Lowsley in Ravenclaw?', but students were so appalled by her cute attitude that they seemed to forget all about her negative feature.
Lastly, the ring leader of the little clan was Cassie McKiddie, a tall blonde with icy blue eyes, which could penetrate your soul and freeze all the happy memories even existing. She played with everyone, squealed at everything, and flirted simply everywhere. There were rumours that she was quite fond of Sirius Black for most of sixth year, and that they even dated, but she still managed to make her way around the rest of the Houses without a problem.
"Oi, Sam, pass me the lipstick!" Cassie called in a sing song voice, as Sam eagerly nodded, obviously entertained by the attention and dove into the washroom to find her favourite bright red lipstick.
"Do you need that for the potion too?" Jessica asked in a clueless voice, finally finding herself some clothes, and putting on a royal purple, knee-length surplice dress, the various floating layers secured with a pale bow at the waist.
"Don't be daft, Jess, before I stick this lipstick up your arse." Cassie snapped, getting up and taking at look in the mirror, which her friend tried to process what she just said. "I look hideous…" Cassie muttered to herself, applying the hot red lipstick, and smacking her lips contently. "Much better." She winked at herself in the mirror and twirled around.
Jessica nonchalantly shrugged and took a look in the mirror, and scowled, muttering, "This dress it just too long!" She exclaimed, but no one seemed to hear her.
"Why are you putting on makeup then?" Sam asked Cassie, flipping through a magazine on hair tutorials from her spot in the comfy chair placed in the empty space. They managed to get rid of their two other roommates, who found themselves a spot in the sixth year dormitory. Therefore, the three girls had more than enough room to fit all their things, but still barely managed to cram everything in one closet and one corner.
"Well, I want to look pretty, don't I?" Cassie rolled her eyes and applied dark eye shadow, while muttering about how stupid her friends could be.
"But we're still changing." The brunette pointed out critically.
"Fuck off, Sam, stop trying to be such a prudish idiot." Cassie slammed the washroom door, causing her friend to sigh and fall back onto her bed.
Jessica approached her, and patted her sympathetically. "There, there, Sammy. Cassie's just being mean, because she's going to get her man today and she's really excited." She nodded to support her argument, "Oh!" Jessica exclaimed, her eyes lighting up, "Do you know what she did with Edward yesterday night?"
Sam giggled, and perched herself on her elbows, "Ooh!" She squealed, "What did they do?"
Her friend waggled her eyebrows and sank onto the bed covering her mouth with her hand, "Well it really is a secret," She whispered, looking around cautiously, "But apparently they had a hot make-out session and went all the way, before Filch caught them and gave them detention each!"
The two toppled over on the bed laughing, "Oh Merlin, Cassie, did you really do that?" Sam called at her friend, who exited the washroom with a wicked grin on her face.
"Oh we wanted to do more, until that bloody Filch showed up." She scowled evilly, "Can't believe he showed up. I could almost swear we cast the silencing spell on the door." Cassie muttered to herself, and suddenly gasped at the colour and steam rising out of the potion, "It's ready!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down, before bouncing over.
"It's ready?!" Her two friends covered their mouths with their hands, and exchanged overenthusiastic looks. "OH MY GOD!" The two of them squealed equally loudly, before falling down on the floor.
"Here you go, ladies," Cassie strolled over, swaying her hips back and forth, "Bottoms up!" All three girls exchanged happy smiles, clinked their glasses and downed the drinks to the last drop. Each felt their skin bubbling and moving around. It was the strangest feeling, but it felt surprisingly nice, unlike the Polyjuice potion. A tingling sensation went through their bodies, and it felt like butterflies were fluttering over their skin.
"Girls!" Cassie exclaimed, examining herself and grinning, "Are you ready for sweet revenge?"
Same walked over to the long mirror in the middle of the room. "Oh, yes, sir, yes." She smirked into the mirror, pleased with the results, because she found a Ginny Weasley staring right back at her. "Watch your backs, Gryffindors. We're coming to get your men." She cackled, as the others joined her in symphony.
~OoOoO~
It was the day before the ball, when Ginny was finally able to drag her three friends out of the dormitories and into Hogsmeade village to go dress shopping, the two words which made Hermione and Lily cringe. They had procrastinated long enough, and now it was time to face their fate.
"I hate dress shopping! This is so utterly boring!" Hermione exclaimed exasperatedly, going through another row of dresses and unsuccessfully finding herself left with no result. "Why do we have to do this? Honestly, if I were to choose, I would get everyone so come in a casual, or at least semi-formal attire." She harrumphed, glaring at Lily mockingly.
The Head Girl tossed her hair back, and scoffed, "It wasn't my decision! I didn't take a part in that?!"
"Well, who did then?" Hermione shot back playfully, holding up a hideous neon green dress, grimacing with a scared expression crossing her face, and hanging it back on the shelf.
"James." Lily said simply, and continued racking through the dresses, as Hermione's jaw dropped.
A thud was heard from the other side of the shop, and hurried footsteps sounded out. Before they knew it, Ginny and Luna both with fancy Venetian masks on, slid from out of the corner. Ginny immediately took hers off and put it back on the shelf, and Luna started scanning through all the crazy aboriginal masks, and trying them it.
"James wanted there to be dresses?" Ginny exclaimed, mirth filling her eyes.
"He insisted." Lily corrected pointedly. All of the sudden, Ginny started jumping up and down, while giggling uncontrollably. Then, she grabbed Lily by the shoulders and looked her straight in the eye.
"Lily." She breathed seriously. "He's a keeper." Lily rolled her eyes, blushing a bit and turned back around. "What if he actually has fashion sense? You dress pretty nicely, so you'd be a beautiful couple! You and your kids, and all of your relatives!" She rambled on, contentedly stuck in a world of wonderful dreams and puffy clouds. "Maybe you could even open a designer company—"
Hermione giggled, and clamped her hand over Ginny's mouth, "Too far, Gin. Too far." Ginny squeaked, her voice muffled, and wrenched Hermione's hand from her mouth.
"Are you going with him to the ball?" Everyone knew that Ginny's interrogation was not yet over, and wouldn't be over it a while.
Lily finally recomposed herself and cleared her throat, "Well, we have to. We are Head Girl and Head Boy."
"That's not what I meant." Ginny winked cheekily, and nudged Lily in the side. The girl always wanted to know all the details and crazy things about everyone.
"He did ask me out." Lily mumbled, barely audibly.
By this moment, even Luna was paying attention. She floated by and pranced towards Lily, elegantly waving her arms above her head, drawing concerned looks from the worried owner of the store. "I hope you said yes." She sang along, striking a pose, and not moving.
Looking at her friend pointedly, and blushing simultaneously, Lily whispered, "Yes. Yes I did!"
"Oh hoorah!" Ginny squealed, spinning around and dragging all three girls into a bone crushing embrace she most likely inherited from Mrs. Weasley. "Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" She chortled dramatically, citing the great Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. "We need to pay extra attention to what you wear! We have to make James fall in love with you!"
"No we don't!" Lily snapped, swatting Ginny's hands away. "He doesn't like me—"
Hermione exclaimed, "What! That is the biggest lie of the century, Lily Evans!"
A whine was heard from behind Lily, Luna and Hermione. The three turned around to see Ginny sliding down near a mirror and hugging her knees, while rocking back and forth. "Lies. Lies." She mumbled, while shaking her head. She made eye contact with Lily and got up immediately.
"We are going to make you look like the most beautiful woman in the room, and honey, with myself in there, that's going to be quite a challenge." Ginny exclaimed firmly, making all the girls giggle. "Now, we're going to get you a helper, and we'll get you all together." She spun around and turned to Hermione. "And you. Did you get off on the wrong side of the bed today? You love shopping!"
"I really don't. I like wearing dresses, when they're already chosen and I actually like it." Hermione interjected, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well, let's suppose you do." Ginny shot back. "It's also a big night for you! You need to get things right with Black. So you better get your arse together, and find some dress! Or I'm going to find it for you!"
Hermione chortled, "I'm still kind of pissed at Black. And rather have you find it for me." She joked – the two girls glared at each other, before Ginny rolled eyes childishly and turned around.
"Luna did you find anything yet?" She asked her friend, who was still in the same pose she took five minutes ago.
"Yes. Yes I did." She girl responded dreamily, not moving a muscle. "But I didn't try it on yet, but it does look extremely lovely."
"Well, what are you waiting for!" Ginny exclaimed, slapping her forehead. "It will look much better on you, than the rack, that's for sure. Now go put it on!" After all three girls scurried away, further from Ginny, she slumped backwards, exhaled and wiped the sweat off her brow. "I'll get nowhere with these girls." She muttered, shaking her head.
The next hour went by very intensely, with Ginny taking control of every footstep made by her girls, and monitoring every dress they tried on. She gathered dresses in heaps, and gallantly shoved them to every girl, who tried one after the other, and tried to find their best fit, and their best look.
Ginny lost no time dawdling, and rushed around the store as if she were on fire. She only acted this way in two situations – shopping, and Quidditch. Everything else was done slowly and leisurely. By the end, it seemed like Ginny could've taken over the dress shop all by herself, without any help of the owner, or assistants, who were literally no use in comparison to the fiery redhead.
The first to find their perfect match was Luna, and it only took her one dress. Everyone approved it specifically because it suited Luna so much. She found it on the sale rack, because nobody liked the style, and the shop owner even offered to give it away for free, and to be done with all the misery put upon her, and the history of the dress. Knowing Luna, she took it.
It was a lovely halter dress, buttoned at the front with multicoloured bottoms to just below her chest. There was a tight floral elastic band around her middle, attaching the skirt to the top in a funky transitional way. The skirt flowed freely from waist down in different layers, shaped as flower petals, with a different design on each.
"One down, three more to go." Ginny mumbled to herself, while putting Luna to sit aside beside the change rooms and to get out of her way for the rest of their little voyage. No one wanted to get into Ginny's way when the girl was shopping her heart out – it wasn't safe.
Obediently, Luna sat in silence, watching the events reoccur with amusements, but her thoughts were drifting elsewhere. Something on the basis of her potions Professor. Correction: her old potions Professor. Nope, that sounded even worse. Her thoughts were drifting in the clouds about Severus Snape.
Even thought he was a Slytherin, and occasionally a bully, he was bullied and manipulated for a big portion of his life, so he barely knew how to love, and most importantly how to be loved. He was pessimistic and had no positive output or thoughts about life. He believed that living was a curse, and Luna knew that there was nothing she could do to change his opinions on life.
But she could make his life better. She could give him a friend and a companion. They were somewhere near boyfriend and girlfriend now, and nobody really paid attention. Sure, they seemed like the weirdest couple in the school: a loony Gryffindor and a dull Slytherin, but it worked somehow.
It was the same way that mermaids and centaurs came to be once. The idea fascinated Luna, that a horse could in some way have sexual intercourse with a human being – a homo sapien. How genetically mutated must've the first child been? But the probable shock and mortification of the mother/father was probably priceless. Unless they were asexual. Let's not go there. Luna chuckled, as she leaned back and stared at her reflection in the mirror.
Back in 1998, she didn't belong. There were no hippies or anyone with a crazy imagination because society told them otherwise. She belonged in 1977. Even if her father wasn't here, she still had her friends. And brounies. Brounies never disappeared, but nargles always followed. Nargles were very strange creatures. They were simply everywhere, and there was no way of getting rid of them.
Maybe she would be the first to come up with a method.
"Now try on all these dresses!" Ginny hollered, shoving both Hermione and Lily a pile of clothes. The two girls looked at each other miserably, but one glare from Ginny sent them running into the change rooms.
The assistant in the shop was scurrying around, trying to reorganize all the dresses, and put them back on their shelves, because it seemed like each girl went through around twenty dresses by then. It went from ruffled skirts, to corset tops, to mermaid dresses, to cocktail dresses, to ball gowns, to tight clubbing dresses, to costumes, to satin gowns and anything else possibly created by human kind.
"I give up!" Hermione stomped out of the change room, walking out, wearing a pretty light green dress, which, unfortunately didn't suit her too well. It was a little loose on her small curves, and wasn't suited for an athletically build body.
"Me too!" Lily agreed anxiously, opening her own door, and coming out in a similar-looking dress, coloured blue.
Ginny was missing, looking for her own dress, because she completely disregarded herself in this manner, knowing that it would be easier for her to find a dress for herself than to search for the two girls, who didn't like to go out and try dresses on. But barely even when Hermione said a word, she slid from out of the corner and examined the situation.
"That's what I told you." She let her hands drop to her sides. "I said, kids, let's go earlier! Now all the good dresses are gone! Great job guys!" The redhead shook her head and stood beside Luna, critically regarding the two girls.
Hermione sighed, "What do you think?" She spun around in a circle with her arms up in the air, and Lily did the same.
"This won't do... This won't do..." Ginny tutted thoughtfully, glancing back and forth. "I don't know you two." She walked towards Lily, tightening the dress around her bodice and releasing it experimentally. "We've honestly tried every dress in the shop. Unless..."
"Unless what?" Lily asked hopefully, with high expectations that Lily had found a way out of this crisis of dresses.
"Unless..." Ginny exclaimed, somewhat gleefully, and her sky blue eyes found Lily and Hermione. "Swap the dresses!"
A silence fell across the room. "What...?" Hermione asked, confusedly.
"Switch dresses!" Ginny clapped her hands anxiously.
"But that won't look good on me, I don't think at least." Lily murmured, fidgeting with the skirt, and feeling the material between her hands uncertainly.
"I don't care what you think! Try on each others' dresses!" Ginny nearly screamed, jumping up and down, pulling on her hair. Once again, the two girls immediately vanished into the change rooms.
Luna stood up, and carefully put Ginny into her chair. "There, there, Ginevra. We'll get through this. It's not bad at all is it?"
"Could be worse." Ginny grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Exactly! I can feel it in the wind!" Luna stated happily, softly taking one of Ginny's hands and patting it soothingly. "Or in the air, if you please... Even though this air is a bit dusty, I still smell the scent of hope."
"You mean my sweat?" Ginny snorted, thoughtfully taking Luna's curly hair and twirling it between her fingers.
"No, there's something in the air. I feel it." Luna, very conspicuously, whiffed at the air and nodded with pride. "I'm right. There is. I'll go smell out your dress if you want! I'll find one just for you!" she exclaimed, jumping up, and immediately she was out of sight.
"Do whatever makes you happy, Luna." Ginny laughed quietly, "Whatever makes you happy..." She repeated, and all of the sudden stood up, as the two change room doors opened simultaneously.
"My oh my. What a turnout of events." She muttered to herself, as a sly grin crossed her face, and she held up both her hands with a 'thumbs up'.
"It's marvelous, isn't it?" Lily exclaimed happily, twirling and laughing to herself, as the two other girls nodded breathlessly, admiring their friend's beauty.
"Now we just have to find you a dress, Ginny." Hermione exclaimed, her eyes gleaming thankfully.
Ginny waved her hand carelessly, because she was capable of finding herself a dress. It was already late in the evening, but she could definitely think of something classy and... Ginny-like!
"No need for that." A dreamy voice interrupted from the walkway. Luna stood there, holding up a dress, which made Ginny squeal in delight, and clap her hands giddily, like a little child. "I've found you one!"
"Can I just take it?" Ginny exclaimed, running over to Luna and running her hands through the soft fabric. "I have a really good feeling about it!" She nodded eagerly, as Hermione and Lily looked at each other thoughtfully, now taking the role of mothers.
"I don't really know if you should take it—" Hermione started.
"—without trying it on..." Lily finished her thoughts, as the two grinned and high fived.
"Let's just take it!" Ginny exclaimed, a pleased expression coming across her face. "I have a great feeling about it!"
"And it has a good smell to it." Luna stage whispered to the girls, and nodded her head seriously.
"What are you, a dog?" Hermione rolled her eyes, and grinned toothily at Luna.
"No..." Luna spun around thoughtfully, and mimicked Ginny, very well in fact, "I just have a really good feeling about this!" She giggled and jumped up and down. Then, suddenly, she stopped and whispered again, "And a really good sense of smell."
The girls looked at each other and burst out laughing until it hurt. They all gasped for air, and regained their composure.
"What do you think, Lily?" Hermione inquired thoughtfully, seeking a wise opinion, similar to her own.
"I don't really think we have a choice," Lily muttered in an amused tone, "Because while all of us were enjoying ourselves and having a great time, Ginny disappeared, and if I'm not mistaken, she's already paying for her dress."
"I guess it's meant to be." Hermione laughed, swinging the dress over her shoulder and proceeding towards the front of the store.
"Yes... Many things are..." Luna agreed, and followed, as did Lily.
~OoOoO~
For the next 24 hours, Ginny Evergreen had her three friends quarantined in the seventh year girls' dormitory without any exceptions. Even when Lily asked reported that there was a mandatory Heads meeting, Ginny immediately unravelled the lie, and swore to Lily that she wouldn't let her out for even the ball.
It seemed like Lily was finally starting to fall for James Potter – there was a new hope! She was constantly day dreaming, and when she wasn't, she was scribbling in her little muggle diary and immediately locking it and hiding it under her pillow. Even then, Ginny didn't take the excuse of going to talk to boys. She frequently corrected everyone and pointed out that she was the one with a boyfriend, and even she wasn't talking to him.
Of course, everyone noticed Luna writing notes and sending Nix down with them, probably communicating with a grumpy misunderstanding Severus.
Hermione could almost imagine him sneering, "Girls and their dresses," and "Balls are such a waste of time". She couldn't wait to enjoy his unenthusiastic appearance at the ball. His glares would probably have the capability of sending children running and crying in fear. Otherwise, apart from his pessimistic remarks, Severus seemed like a pretty nice guy.
The ball was to begin at 6:30, meaning that everyone would have to be down at the Hall by 6:00, some earlier than others. It was already 3:00, and Ginny was nearly done everything. She was doing everyone's hair, correcting everyone's makeup and giving them quick, but well-informed tutorials, right on the run.
To be honest, Ginny was a lifesaver. Without her, the night wouldn't be possible, in the perspective of the lovely, beautiful lionesses who were eagerly waiting in the cage of their dormitories. At one point, Luna tried to escape, triggering Ginny to put a locking spell, which only she could take off.
Hermione really wanted to talk to Sirius. She didn't want their friendship to go to waste, because he really wasn't too bad of a guy. He was just extremely explosive and had many emotions he wasn't capable of controlling and expressing correctly. But she didn't blame him. As a lack of better words, she had to admit, he had a pretty fucked up past.
They were going hard on each other. They were running in a circle and chasing each others' tails; well they were both dogs after all. Hermione couldn't help but feel that Sirius was used to being treated like a prince, and being worshipped by girls, and only witnessed rudeness second-hand, from watching James and Lily fight. Anyone could admit that the scene of the two lovebirds fighting was extremely hilarious.
Either way, she wanted to talk. She wanted to make up with him, and she wanted to start from the beginning. Somewhere deep in her chest, her heart was telling her that he was thinking the exact same thing, but it was just a strange inhibition she never experienced before.
Hermione sighed, looking over at Lily, whose hair was getting curled and piled up at the top of her head in some elaborate manner. Scanning the room, she noticed Luna reading the Quibbler upside down again (which wasn't a surprise), so she walked to the window, in the secluded part of the room, and looked outside.
Lost in her deep thoughts of friendships and rivalries, she nearly jumped out of her socks when a figure zoomed past her window. Of course it was a person on a broomstick, but even for 1977, the broom flew by so fast, she couldn't catch who was riding it.
Judging by the red and gold blur left in her eyes, she deducted that it could only be a Gryffindor. The figure was too muscular and broad to be female, and there were only three Gryffindor boys who would take the initiative to fly by the seventh-year girls' dormitories.
Hermione grinned, peering out the window, looking from left to right, searching for a Quidditch player. She didn't know which one it was, but either one was fine. The windows too were locked by Ginny for extra precaution. Sometimes, Hermione even wondered how Ginny came to be this way. But again, someone zoomed by, and stopped directly by the window, staring directly into the glass, grinning like a maniac.
Although it wasn't the Marauder Hermione wanted to see, James Potter would do. He waved at her cheekily, as she rolled her eyes and waved back, and then put her hands on her hips. James looked cautiously at the window, and raised his arms in question, gesturing for her to open the window.
Shaking her head, Hermione mouthed, "Ginny," as clearly as she could.
After catching the message, James flicked his wrist and scoffed, mouthing, "Of course." After a while of simply staring at each other and laughing, he asked once again, "Can you get Lily?"
Interpreting the message was easy enough, by the way James' face lit up, as he said the sentence, but Hermione shook her head acquiring a look of pity, "She's caught in the wrath of Ginny." She told him through the glass, and gestured at her own, damp hair, which she just finished washing.
James Potter cussed, and called over his shoulder, holding up a sign for the girl to wait. Hermione sighed despondently, and brushed her hair back. Oh well. This was better than sitting on the spot and doing completely nothing, while sinking in a black hole of depressing thoughts and anxious imaginations.
A moment later, two more boys zoomed and harshly stopped right before the window. Hermione even took a few steps back, just in precaution. Sirius and Remus looked through the glass, squinting because of the reflected sunlight. When they finally realized who was there, they both waved enthusiastically.
Sirius looked sorry. He smiled lightly, then a wild look overcame his face, he yelled something at James, and flew away, starting to do flips and tricks on his broom. The two boys rolled their eyes and looked at Hermione indifferently. Remus opened his mouth to talk, but James interrupted him, explaining something with his hands, leaving the boy frowning.
"He misses his girl." James mouthed coherently, as Hermione nodded in understanding, and laughed. "So do I." The chaser pouted, as Hermione shrugged visibly and raised her arms in defeat.
"I can't get her out. The room is barricaded." She tried to explain, using her hands to support her answer. "You can try but it won't work."
The two boys scowled and shook their heads, muttering something they obviously didn't want Hermione to hear. The girl flipped her hair and scoffed in disgust. Just then, she felt herself being pulled back into the dormitory. The blinds closed like the mouth of a Venus fly trap, and Ginny's glowering face appeared instead of the light.
The next few hours were painful, consisting of makeup, dresses, and hair. Luna insisted of having her hair hanging naturally, which caused a huge fuss with Ginny who shot glares which could kill, but she wouldn't have any victims that night.
It was extremely impressive how she was capable of doing everything for each of the girls, and had the energy, creativity and toleration to do her own hair and clothes.
The clock struck 5:50. Lily paced around the room, already dressed, lacking her shoes, because Ginny wasn't planning on letting her rub a hole in the ground with her heels. It wouldn't be acceptable.
"Can I go?" Lily whined anxiously, slowly sinking down onto her bed, and arguing her point, "I promised James that I would meet him at 5:45!"
"James will still be late." Ginny argued, adding finishing touches on Hermione's hair, and covering her is hairspray. "You can leave in a minute. Let me just judge you."
Slowly and cautiously, Lily got up and spun carefully in a circle, as Ginny examined her with a judgemental expression on her face.
Lily's dress suited her beautifully – it was a soft emerald green, matching her eyes perfectly, and even bringing out all the red and gold tints in her auburn hair. There was a single thin white strap on her left shoulder, barely visible, because of the two delicate white peonies covering it, both rimmed with sparkling silver. The bodice of her dress was of soft emerald green fabric, and at her right waist there were three more peonies, from which flowed down a silky white chiffon skirt, easy and convenient to move in. There was a thin layer of emerald-green fabric, creating the overskirt, which flowed down the sides and back.
Hermione grinned when she realized that Lily was wearing the silver locket with the emerald in the middle which she 'mysteriously received'. James would definitely be happy. Along with that, she was wearing a pair of matching emerald earrings, with small flowers dangling on silver vines. Lastly, her hair was piled up at the top of her head, in an elegant bohemian braid buns, while a couple auburn strands hung loose.
"Lily, you're gorgeouss…" Hermione couldn't help but beam at her friend.
Ginny frowned, and shook her head, "Smile more." She said simply, securing a few escaping strands in Lily's bun with a bobby pin. "Have fun, Lily." She sang along, waving her wand at the door, which unlocked and swung open.
Lily triumphantly grabbed her purse and with a wicked grin, which never before had anyone witnessed on her face, she disappeared from the dormitories. Hermione grinned and looked at the mirror, meeting Ginny's eyes, which were mirthfully sparkling.
"They're finally doing it." Hermione said finally, after a longing silence. The other two girls nodded in silent agreement. "I mean, wow, we could say that we actually helped out with this part." She grinned, excitement flowing and colouring her face.
"Man, we can simply say that we took a step in the conception of Harry James Potter. Straight out!" Ginny punched the air ferociously, taking off her working clothes and slipping into her beautiful long dress. "Now, no more air punching." She muttered to herself, smoothening out the non-existent wrinkles on her dress.
"What did you say about James?" A voice sounded out spontaneously, coming from the hall, as Lily shot into the room, eyes wild and surprised. The three friends gapped at each other.
"We were, er—" Hermione stuttered fiercely, averting her face and finding some interest in a Witch Weekly magazine, sitting upon the working table, which had miraculously been transformed into a beauty salon.
"We were talking about how you and James are going to make babies." Luna commented from the washroom nonchalantly. "And how one of them is going to be called Harry. Harry James Potter." She noted intelligently, standing up, and examining her dress in the mirror.
To Ginny and Hermione's surprise, Lily didn't protest or acquire a disgusted expression on her face – she simply shrugged and commented vitally. "I nearly went downstairs when I realized that I was missing my shoes." She giggled, slipping them on, and before anyone could say anything she disappeared behind the door again.
"Don't fall!" Ginny shouted supportively after her, chuckling and touching her hair delicately. "Oh kids." She muttered under her breath, shaking her head and pretending to wipe away a tear of happiness.
"That was a close one." Hermione chuckled, setting the magazine back down onto the table. She looked around and laughed lightly, slipping into her own dress and gazing thoughtfully into the mirror, at the beautiful girl staring back at her. "Wow…" She muttered, turning and spinning, "I look—"
"Pretty fricken hot." Ginny supplied, strolling over in her own dress and posing in front of the mirror, "And it's all thanks for me."
Hermione beamed gratefully, "I don't even know what I would do without you, Ginny, my love."
"Oh, Mione, my beautiful lady, I must say," Ginny swooned, taking hold of Hermione's pale hand, "That without me, you'd get nowhere in life." She smiled happily, causing the older girl to roll her eyes. Then Ginny grimaced, "And… We should cover up your—er—scar." She nodded towards the permanent mark on her skin, spelling out 'mudblood'.
Hermione's heart dropped to the floor, and her mood darkened. Of course. The scar would never go away. Luckily Ginny caught that. Now that would be a tough story to explain. Hermione raised her eyebrows in relief, as Ginny powdered her hand and in no time, her skin was silky smooth, with no evidence of such cruel vandalism.
"To be honest, I don't know what I would do without you." Hermione nodded eagerly, then added, "And without Luna, for that fact." She tried to veil the memories of Bellatrix torturing her in Malfoy Manor, but for some reason, they still found a way to flash before her eyes.
"I'm heading off to the main hall, if you don't mind." Luna smiled delicately, swishing the skirt of her colourful and unique dress. "I've got to meet Severus. We agreed on meeting up there."
Ginevra rolled her eyes sarcastically, "How long did you have to beg him to go to the ball with you?" she teased. "I doubt it takes two months to turn a Slytherin into a good guy."
Narrowing her eyes, and flicking her hair back, Luna said slowly and confidently, "Actually, he asked me." Hermione and Ginny gapped, causing Luna to sputter and laugh, "Yes, I know, I know. It surprised me too, especially when he asked. But what can I say?" She grinned mysteriously, "You can say that everything is flowing well…" And with that, she floated out of the dormitory, leaving both Hermione and Ginny with nothing to say.
And now that's it... For now (:
