Chapter Twenty-Six (I don't Own Inuyasha)

"Asami," she cried tears of joy as she fell on her knee hugging the fur ball. She moved to take a better looked and noticed the wolf pup she knew was more alive than ever, and that that pink collar wasn't a collar but a bow. Shippo and a lot of guest watched her confused. But Kagome couldn't care. "I missed you girl," Kagome whispered as her hand pet it's head.

"Who is she?" Shippo knelt down curiously yet careful not to spook the wolf.

"She is Asami," Kagome told him with a huge smile.

"That is where Asami ran off too," chuckled an older gentleman. Her crimson orbs glowed in the light as she smiled up at the man.

"Mr. Hatori," she grinned. "I am glad you came. Is Asami here with you?" Kagome looked lovingly at the wolf. She didn't notice how Hatori grinned down at her.

"No," he chuckled causing her to look up at him in confusion.

"What?" Her voice was quiet her eyes showed concern.

"Someone had taken an interest in her health and came to give her a new home," Mr. Hatori explained. A loud drumming beat of her heart was all she could hear in her ears. Everything seemed to slow down. Sure, she wished so much on helping the zoo, but she always wanted to help this wolf and now someone else had taken care of it all. She should be glad for her furry friend but she felt sadness and fear. She was worried she would never see her again.

"I'm glad she got a new home," her red orbs looked at the happy wolf with hints of sadness.

"Would you be happier to know you could see her any time you want?" Sesshomaru's voice came from behind her.

"Sesshomaru," Kagome gasped out as her eyes caught on to his emotionless face. Almost like a mask but his eyes had some type of emotion in them. She couldn't figure it out. "What do you mean?" She asked him.

"She's yours," he spoke as his mask broke and a small smile appeared. His golden orbs looked at the wolf that seemed to be jumping around his love. "Happy Birthday Kagome," he said just loud enough for her, Shippo and Mr. Hatori to hear. Kagome looked at him in shock as she took each word in. Tears filled her eyes as she moved at a quick sped to tackle the silver haired lord. He didn't see it coming at the short distance and fell back on the floor with her on top of him.

"Thank you," she cried happily. "This means so much."

"You don't have to thank me," he said as his pale hair moved to push away some of her hair. "You never have to thank me." His arm moved to wrap around her waist.

"But this," she motioned to the wolf. "That meant so much to me." Sesshomaru failed to hide love he held for the spider in his arm. Just the way he looked at her was enough to tell anyone that she held his heart. The way his golden orbs never left her smile but held so much compassion as he starred at her. His arms tightened around her yet he felt content on the floor. Even with her over him. "And to think I thought you were cheating on me. That you didn't care," she kept on talking as tears ran down her eyes. His pale hand pulled away from her waist to gently wipe some tears away.

"Kagome," his voice was gentle as he quietly called her name. "Kagome," he tried again.

"I can't believe I jumped to conclusions," she continued not even noticing he spoke her name. "It was just when you showed up and to see you after you told me you were busy," her voice was quietened by lips on her own. Crimson eyes widen in shock as Sesshomaru pulled away.

"Kagome," he said as his forehead touch hers. "I don't blame you for anything."

"But," she tried but was cut off once more by his lips.

"If anything I should be apologizing," he told her. "But this is your birthday party. I want you to enjoy it."

She gasped as she looked up to see all the people watching them. A faint red appeared on her face as she looked down to see she was still on top of him. Sesshomaru smirked as he saw her react to their position. Kagome move to get off him when she noticed that one of his arms was still holding on to her and she just fell back on top of him with a squeak. "Sesshomaru," she whispered as her face became a darker red.

"Yes Kagome," he replied with a charming smile.

"Everyone's looking," she said quietly as she hid her face into his neck.

"Are they?" He chuckled as he moved so both of them ended up standing yet he didn't let go of her waist. Little Asami ran circles around them in excitement. "It's great you made it here for the party Shippo," Sesshomaru directed his attention to the fox demon.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," Shippo smiled. "Now if you don't mind, I'm going to steal my mama away for a bit," the younger man told the lord with a laugh. The fox took Kagome's hand and pulled her away from Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru stood there stunned as he watched the two leave the room with Asami following behind them.

"Mama," he spoke in confusion.

Kagome was glad when Shippo pulled her all the way out into a huge garden filled with beautiful plants. "So you and him," Shippo gave her a look causing her to turn her head away to look at some blue flowers. "As long as he doesn't hurt you," he said as sat on a stone bench. "You look much different."

"Do I?" Kagome asked as her crimson eyes looked at the man she saw as her own son.

"You look more like a demon," he told her honestly as he leaned back. "Not that I'm complaining."

She laughed a bit, "It might be because am I a demon." Kagome paused as she thought on what she was going to say. "My father is Naraku, so I've always been a demon even a half of one." Shippo nodded thoughtful before a grin grew on his face. "What is that grin for?"

"Can I call Naraku grandpa?" Shippo asked only to see Kagome's jaw drop as well as another black haired demon that had walked into sight.

"Grandpa," Naraku finally found his voice as he looked between the two a bit paler then he normally was.

"Yes, that is what I was asking," Shippo said as his grin kept on grinning.

"Shippo," Kagome managed to say his name.

"Yes, mama," he turned his attention on her.

"What does he mean Kagome?" Naraku asked as he moved toward the too. "Why did he call you mama?" Her lips moved yet, no words really came out, like she was trying to find the right words to say without saying them.

"She raised me when she had traveled back into time," Shippo told him. "Ever since she helped save me, I've seen her as my mother figure and after a year of traveling she allowed me to call her mama."

"Yea," Kagome replied still trying to rap her mind around what was happening.

"So grandpa," Shippo joked to see Naraku send a glare at the fox demon.

"Don't call me that," Naraku growled.

Raindra: Well that is the end of this chapter. Hope everyone has a wonderful new years. Until Next Time (n_n)
