As I was arranging the books we bought from the capital, I looked around to find Erza sitting silently beneath a tree with a troubled face. It made me questioned the events that happened yesterday. Why was Erza crying and why was Sting hugging her?
"Lucy, bring over the drinks!" The shouts of the ever-annoying president woke me from my mental trance. I let out a loud sigh as I simply followed his command, somehow I was slowly getting used to it.
Holding a large box that contained many water bottles, I walked over to where the boys were hammering hard on the architectural project, which seemed to be slowly taking shape suggesting that the painting could be started soon. As much as I refute, I felt a feeling of contentment blooming in my chest, seeing the product of a well-earned hard work.
"The drinks' here," I shouted as I put down the large box. Grey quickly ran over, took a bottle of water and emptied it down his throat.
"Drinking the water delivered by Lucy sure taste better than the water delivered by that scruffy president." He joked.
"The words from your lips are as sweet as ever."
"Well, be sure to tell me if you ever want you lips sweetened." I chuckled at his naughty words as I saw Sting walking towards us.
When he reached the box, he simply grabbed a bottle and started drinking. Hey! Don't tell me that he's going to comply with Minerva's demands!
"Things are really taking shape. I don't really want to admit it but you guys sure are good." I praised the groups of boys as I turned to eyes to the soon to be library.
"And what have you been doing?" Asked Gajeel.
"Sorting out books, cleaning the books and fixing some worn-out books."
"Sounds relaxing." He complained
"Then you should've been born as a girl." I joked as I turned my gaze to Sting but he quickly looked away, ignoring my existence. 'What is going on?' I thought. Believing that mattered must now be taken into my own hands, I wanted up to him and poked his back, receiving his attention.
"I was going to say hi." He said nervously.
"I thought you were going to follow Minerva's demands and stop talking to me."
"We might have to follow her demands though, seeing that she kept on talking about how she is going to rat us out."
"Let her. I don't care."
"You don't care?"
"I suppose." I replied ambiguously as I looked around. Seeing that there was no one eavesdropping I asked, "What happened yesterday?"
"I should be the one asking you about what happened yesterday."
"What do you mean?"
"Well you disappeared with Jellal for quite a long while."
"Aren't you the one who made Erza cry?"
"No, it's you."
"M-me?" I asked, flabbergasted. "That's impossible, I haven't done a single thing to Erza." I continued.
"Whatever, tell me what happened yesterday when you decided to disappear with Jellal."
"I think we should talk about this elsewhere." I whispered to him as another guy came up to fetch himself a bottle of water.
"Sure, wait for me under that large tree ok? I'll follow soon." Sting spoke as he pointed his finger towards the largest tree in the forest. I nodded as I started walking towards it slowly to avoid any suspicion. It was about 5 minutes later that Sting arrived.
"It's as if we're smuggling something illegal." Sting joked.
"No, it's as if we're having an affair." I sarcastically replied as I looked around. "Hopefully that vengeful spirit won't be following us here."
"Who?"
"Minerva."
"Crazy bitch seems more fitting."
"Same thing, anyway, tell me what happened."
"You first."
"Mine's not that important."
"You first." He repeated.
"Fine, fine." I surrendered as my mind tried to formulate how I should tell Sting about what Jellal told me. "Umm, It's nothing much. It's like I told you before. Jellal was ignoring me."
"So you tried to reconciled your relationship with him."
"Not really, It's more of a 'trying to understand one another better' I suppose. Basically I just went up to him and asked him about his problems."
"And he said?"
"He likes me."
"…."
"He thought that I was trying to seduce him for fun." I answered, afraid to even look into Sting's eyes. WE were left in a moment of awkward silently before he broke it.
"T-that's good."
"Yeah." I gave him my best poker face and changed the topic of our conversation. "What about you? Why was Erza crying?"
"Erza likes Jellal."
"-O-"
"And Erza thinks that Jellal likes you."
"Does this mean that you knew that Jellal likes me?"
"Not really, Erza just told me that Jellal looked sad every time he sees you. I couldn't really believe that someone like Jellal would have the hots for you though."
"So when she cried, you were trying to comfort her?"
"Yeah, sort of."
"T-that's good isn't it?" I said with an expressionless face.
"I suppose so. Your plan worked. Jellal likes you…."
"And you'll continue to soothe Erza and soon she will be liking you as well."
"Maybe."
W-was want we want? Was this good?
We went silent for a while, standing quietly as the wind brushed against our body. What has happened between the two of us? Shouldn't we be celebrating? After all, that plans we made were finally coming into fruition.
" I should get back to work." He spoke as he walked back to the construction site, leaving me alone to lean on the large tree trunk.
"Good? Really?" I mumbled to myself as I stared down at my feet. "No. This isn't good at all!"
The last day of our horrendous camping finally arrived. I nearly wailed out tears of happiness as I looked at the pink library decorated with paintings of little bears, surround by a yellow fence.
Even though I thought that today would be the boring tiring day, it wasn't. In all respect, it was a tiring day but seeing the little children gazing at our construction with their hopeful little eyes brought burst to joy to my heart. Their gaze made me feel warm, that I had made the right decision in deciding to stay.
The sound of joyful mirth was heard from the last day of the campfire. An event that I decided not to participate due a certain someone, so I simply stay inside my small tent and packed.
Looking from the hole in the tent I saw Minerva supporting a gleeful face as she used Sting's shoulder as her pillow. Erza was staring into the fire with a sad expression whilst Jellal was drinking with his Group of friends. I let out a laugh I saw a drunk Gray hugging Gajeel, what bromance. At that moment I realized that Sting eyes' were on me. Our eyes slowly met, it was as if his gaze was hiding some unresolved message.
But what is it that we haven't resolved.
Our visual contact broke as I heard the sound of my phone ringing. Looking at it, I found that it was Levy who was calling.
"Hello."
"Hey Lucy…. How…. I…. Fun."
"Er. Wait a moment Levy, I think there's no signal here." I quickly walked out of my tent and away from the campfire to find a place where some signal could be found. Levy called to ask of me, I told her what had happened and told her that I will be returning tomorrow. As I ended the call, I nearly screamed as I saw a shadow looming behind me.
"S-Sting!" I shouted. "You Idiot! You scared me! I thought you were a ghost!"
"No ghost would dare haunt you."
"I'm sure there's one evil spirit that's currently haunting me."
"Who were you talking to?" He changed topic.
"Levy."
"I-I see."
"And what about you? How did you escape from Minerva's grasp?"
"She was talking to someone else. I saw you walking here alone so I followed. It's dangerous to be here alone."
"T-thank you." I mumbled. "Thank you for following and for telling me not to give up when we first arrived here. I mean without me, no one could've drawn such a beautiful flowers on the walls of the library."
"You mean those deformed flowers?"
"Blasphemy! They are beautiful!"
"Ha-ha, fine they're beautiful." He laughed
"Have you… talked to Erza?"
"Not yet. I'm afraid it's impossible as long as Minerva's still in my life."
"Obviously."
"What about you? Are you in a relationship with weird tattooed face yet?"
"Not yet, but it should be soon."
"Hmm. That's good."
"Umm. It is."
Again? I really hate the word 'good' in his sentences. Sting did not say anything as and walked further into the woods.
"Where are you going?
"Hiding from everyone else, it's too noisy."
"Oh…"
"Coming?"
"Further inside the woods?"
"Come on it's not that scary."
"It is scary! And it's dark."
"It's not that dark. The moon's is glowing really brightly tonight."
"But…"
"Coming?" He repeated. I stared at him for a while before I decided to follow him deeper into the woods.
We walked for I while before we reached a small stream in the wood. Near the stream was a large log, suitable for stargazing as you could see that full beauty of the moon from it. He took me towards the log before he spoke.
"Sit."
"Won't the wood splints poke my butt."
"It might if you're naked."
"No need to get sarcastic."
"Well you like to ask stupid questions."
"And you are oh so smart."
"At least I know that you won't get splinted by a log." Seriously. Can't we just have one polite conversation together?
"The water must be really cold." I mumbled as I stared at the slow moving stream.
"Of course it's cold, I mean the weather's really cold." He replied as he hugged his body, exaggerating the coldness.
"It's not that cold."
"Obviously you won't be affected, you're a cold blooded animal."
"You could even badmouthed me with the weather, unbelievable." I huffed out.
"Do you think I should try and pursue a relationship with Erza?" He suddenly changed topic. Unbelievable.
"Well. You are attracted to her right?"
"I guess…"
"Then you should."
"Does this mean that if I'm attracted to someone I should try and pursue a relationship with that person?"
"Of course."
"Hmm. I see." He mumbled. We settled in period of comfortable silence, listening of the sound of water flowing whilst watching the brightness and beauty of the bright moon.
Suddenly Sting stood up, walked towards the stream and dipped his feet it in.
"It's cold!"
"Why are you dipping your feet in it?"
"I'm not just dipping my feet in it." He chuckled then proceeded to take off his shirt which he then threw at me causing me voiced my annoyance, realizing what he was going to do I shouted.
"You can't jump in there!"
"Why not?"
"It's dangerous."
"How?"
"There might be fishes. Or snakes!"
"No way. Are you joining?"
"Nope."
"Cold blooded animals shouldn't be afraid of one another." He taunted.
"I won't be putting my life on the line from one of your taunts." Sting laughed at my reply and continued to walk into the steam, refusing to listen to any of my oppositions. I stood up and walked to the steam to see if he's really fine.
"It's so cold!" He voiced.
"You might catch a cold."
"But after you're in it for a while it feels really good. Just come in already."
"No."
"It's a pity though, it's not like you're up on mountains everyday."
"I can swim in my pool."
"It's not the same." I ignored his words and pretended to ignore him as well. Though seeing him swim in the stream generated a degree of uncertainty in me. After all, he seemed to be having so much fun. Walking to the side of the stream, I dipped my feet in it and realized that it was as cold as he had exaggerated.
"Just come in already." He shouted as I sent him a bland gaze.
"Though keep your clothes on cause you might find something similar to a snake."
"P-Pervert!" I shouted as I stood near the edge of the scream. My mind filled with uncertainty, after all swimming in the stream really seemed fun.
Finally I decided I should join him. Walking to the log, I neatly folded his shirt. In walked back into the steam where it reached my knee and decided to sit down. It was when I realized that the water made my white shirt transparent that my shocking pink bra could be seen. Though I supposed the darkness of the night would prevent him from seeing it.
"It's so cold!" I voiced.
"It's refreshing."
"Are you sure that there's no snakes in here?"
"No really."
"Hey!" I complained and swam up to him, deciding that he could always help me if a crisis suddenly emerges. The light from the moon lit the stream in different arrays of colors. The stream itself wasn't deep at all. Only reaching my breast.
Sting swam in circles around me before he decided to dive down into the stream. I didn't really care about monkey acrobatics and decided to just relax in the stream until…
His head suddenly burst up in front of me causing me to emit a scream. His eyes were still closed as he used his hand to brush off the small droplets of water in his face. He startled back as his eyes opened, realizing the closeness we were in.
I felt myself gravitating towards him; his face filled with water droplets seemed to have a strong effect on me. Even though the stream to dreadfully cold, I felt myself burning up with him near. I don't know whether it was the stream or gravity that slowly pulled the two of us closer and closer. His brown orbs mesmerized and hypnotized me to move my hand to his face, yet he quickly grabbed them. He gently squeezed by hand as his face slowly descend towards them. Soon his soft lips were softly caressing my fingers. Our faces soon gravitate towards one another, as if forced by a unexplained phenomenon. His nose touched mine and I could feel the warmth of his breathing on my lips…
I want to touch him….
I want to possess him….
I want to be closer to him…closer to him.
His face slowly moved closer to mine before he planted a gentle kiss on my lips. His hand were still gently squeezing mine as if he would never let go whilst his other hand was gently placed on my hips, preventing me from falling.
I gazed into his eyes as we broke apart, the water droplets in his hair slowly dripped near my eyes. He moved in closer as he planted his kiss below my eyes, his lips slowly moved to my nose, then gently to my cheeks and ended on my lips.
The kiss was… perfect, so soft and sweet.
It was the sweetest kiss of my life.
Our lips parted but our eyes never stopped gazing at the other. My free hand slowly moved to his face and gently caressed it. A small smile emerged on my face.
"Not enough." He mumbled slowly. My confusion on his words quickly disappeared as his face one more descended upon mine, kissing me once more. I understood the meaning of his 'not enough.' I seemed to be feeling the same thing. The feeling of unlimited need, that no matter how much you have, you want more and more and much much more.
The sudden scream caused our lips to broke apart. We turned to the shoreline of the stream and saw Minerva standing there. Her eyes filled with hatred and jealousy.
"We shall see about this!" She screamed as she ran back outside the wood, leaving Sting and I to look at one another in shock.
Now that's what I call a CLIFFY!
THE END IS NEAR!
Love you all.
Mickey
