Disclaimer: I do NOT own Soul Eater.
After Rin and Soul played and ran in the water a bit, they went back to their towel and rested, talking every now and then. Sometimes Soul would say something that would make him laugh, but Rin shove him a bit because of the comment. After a while, Maka and Kid just sat under the tree and had their own conversations.
"Why are we still watching them?" Kid asked.
"I want to see their relationship," Maka responded with a shrug. Kid sighed and pulled out his phone to cure his boredom. After about five minutes Maka was frantically hitting his shoulder, signaling that something was happening. Kid looked up to see Rin walking to the restrooms.
"What are you waiting for?" Maka pushed Kid into a standing position. Kid looked at Maka in confusion. "Follow her, I'll watch Soul," Kid slowly nodded and adjusted the cap on his head before walking in the direction he had seen Rin go in before. He waited outside by the showers, texting Maka, asking if anything had happened, though he knew nothing had.
A couple minutes later, Rin came out of the bathroom, but was stopped on her way there by a man. He seemed to be hitting on her. Rin continued to walk and started jogging to Soul when he got into view. Kid was about to go to Maka when he heard a voice beside him.
"Hello there," Next to him was a woman that looked about twenty years older than him. This is not the time to be hit on by a cougar. He thought impatiently. "Are those stripes in your hair natural?"
"Yes," He tried to walk away, but the woman grabbed his hand, holding him back. "Please let go of my hand," He said.
"Do you want to get a couple of drinks later?" The woman asked, bending over slightly to show off her cleavage.
"I'm under age and have a girlfriend, good bye," And with that he left the woman in shock and walked back to the place where Maka was hiding, stopping every so often to let families by as the crossed his path.
"What the hell was that?!" He heard Maka yell. He ran the girl and sat next to her, eyes wide with panic.
"What happened?"
"Rin just suddenly kissed Soul and started straddling him. At first he looked confused and flustered, but then he looked comfortable. Then this man came up to them and made Soul mad, I couldn't hear what they were saying, but whatever it was made Soul pull Rin closer and then the man left and they just sort of sat there, Rin on top of Soul then they parted, and are now lying there," She looked back at the pair "And now Soul is tickling her, what the hell is going on?!"
"Calm down Maka," Said girl took a deep breath and looked Kid in the eyes. "Rin was hit on by a man and couldn't escape because he kept flirting. I'm guessing that she said Soul was her boyfriend or something in order to get him to go away. Assuming that the man hitting on her was being inappropriate, judging by her reaction, she figured that she had to prove that she and Soul were intimate by kissing and straddling him." Maka nodded. "And I assume that he is tickling her because he likes to tease her."
"Okay," Maka said with a sigh. "Let's get some funnel cake," She finally said, standing up.
"I'd love to,"
"Come on Rin," Soul pouted. "Don't tell my you're mad because I was teasing you," After a moment of silence, Soul sat up and poked Rin's side. The raven haired teen giggled. "Rin," He inched forward a bit. "Are you ticklish?" He tickled her side and she burst into laughter, rolling away from him.
"Don't do that," She scolded once she caught her breath. Soul pounced forward, wrapping his arms around Rin from behind as she turned to escape.
"You are ticklish," He said, releasing the girl as she rolled on to the sand and clutched her stomach.
"You're mean," Rin managed between breaths.
"That's not a nice thing to say honey," Soul teased.
"No," Rin said, finally recovered. "No more tickling, please,"
"Fine, but only because you said please," Rin smiled and crawled back on to the towel.
"Excuse me, mister," Soul and Rin turned to see a small boy who looked around eight years of age. "How did you get that scar?" Rin's eye widened and she looked at Soul cautiously.
"I was being sill and wasn't watching out for my safety," Soul responded. The kid smiled and turned to Rin, his eyes widening.
"Your hair is really long," He exclaimed. Rin laughed at the innocent comment and the kid's awe.
"Yup," She responded. "It took sixteen long years to grow it out this long,"
"Henry!" The three heard a voice calling out and the boy turned around with a wave.
"I gotta go now, bye," Soul and Rin waved.
"You really have never cut your hair?"
"Well, I tried when I was younger, but Elliot caught me and stopped me before I could get hurt."
"You and your brother seem close," Soul said quietly.
"Yeah, well, we had to depend on each other, with our horrible mom and nonexistent father and all," Soul smiled at Rin as she zoned out watching the waves.
"Elliot," Elliot looked up from the porch steps with tear stained cheeks. "Elliot, what's wrong?"
"Dad's inside and I started yelling. Mary threw me out," Rin felt her heart start to race.
"Dad's…" She turned to Soul, who was standing by the motorcycle in confusion. "Soul, take Elliot to your place and then meet me at the book store," Soul nodded and Rin pushed Elliot towards her friend. Rin decided to go in through the side door, since it was closest to the stair case. She needed to get herself and Elliot clothes and their tooth brushes.
"Why did you invite me here? I thought you wanted me to talk to the children, why'd you kick one of them out?"
Rin tiptoed up the stairs and into her room, gathering some clothes in a bag, and then went into Elliot's getting his clothes. When she had what she needed, she made her way down the steps.
Creak
Rin inhaled sharply as the hushed voices in the other room topped and her dad came into her view before she could escape.
"Hey Rin," He said with a smile. Rin tried to smile and quickly made her way to her way out. "Where are you going?"
"To a friend's house," She responded quietly.
"But Rin," She heard her mother call out, suddenly from next to her father. "You said that Sam and Lily were going away with their families the whole summer,"
"Did I?" Rin said, walking the rest of the way down the stairs. "Well I have more than one friend Mary,"
"First name basis too, I see," Her father muttered.
"Don't tell me you're sleeping over at that boy's house, you're too young for this," Rin took a few steps toward the door as her father's eyes widened.
"A boy, you can't sleep over at a boy's place yet Rin," Rin walked the rest of the way to the door.
She scoffed. "Why would you care?" And with that, she left the house and jogged to the book store where Soul was already waiting.
Okay, really crappy editing probably, I know. Sorry for the wait, I live in Pennsylvania and lost power for about a week because of the huge snow storm. There are branches from trees everywhere. I'm glad we got the tree in our front yard cut down. I've seen branches that have taken down wires and whole trees that have fallen down. My neighbor's tree's branches took out a wire so they didn't get power until yesterday. I can barely walk home because everyone went away and there's snow blocking my path and branches in the middle of the sidewalk. My point is: it's been pretty hectic over the past week and a half.
Okay, so I made the new cover. Don't judge the perspective thing with Kid's shoulder. I know it looks awkward, but just deal with it. Also, now you know what Rin looks like.
Sorry for the delay and any grammar and spelling mistakes. Thank you so much for reading.
